9 family members who died in Missouri lake from same church

The Apostolic Gospel Church of Delano have posted a photo on facebook with the words: “PRAYER REQUEST: please pray for Zion Tabernacle Apostolic Church family in Indianapolis, Indiana who lost nine members in the tragic duck boat incident in Branson, Missouri. The church is reeling with grief and needs our love and prayer support. (Five adults and four children, all under the age of 10, from the family were killed. Not pictured here is another young girl who lost her life.)”

Vigils were held by the grief-stricken community following the deaths.

At one memorial, about 300 people gathered in the car park of Ride the Ducks of Branson and sang Amazing Grace. Mourners at a church sang the same words.

A survivor from the family has said the captain told passengers not to bother grabbing life jackets.

Tia Coleman told an Indianapolis television station that she and a nephew were the only survivors among 11 relatives aboard the boat.

She said she lost all her children, but she did not say how many.

Aaron Porter, who works in youth ministry in a Pentecostal church in Indiana, mentioned the lead pastor at the church in his tribute: “My heart aches for Dr.Griffin and Zion Tabernacle and the family who has lost so much. We are the body of Christ and when you hurt we hurt. You have our prayers and support. #OnlyGodCanComfort

Excess Smartphone, Social Media and Tech Use by Teens Linked to ADHD Symptoms, Study Says

The current generation of teens is generally seen as heavy consumers of digital tech — smartphones, social media and the internet in particular. A new study has emerged, however, suggesting that this trend of habitual use of digital media could lead to the development of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder over time.

A research team from the University of Southern California has found a “modest” link between the frequency of digital media use and the chance of developing ADHD symptoms in teens.

Pixabay/terimakasih0A recent study finds suggestions of a link between heavy use of digital tech and ADHD in teens.

“More frequent use of digital media may be associated with development of ADHD symptoms,” the team lead by Adam Leventhal of USC’s Health, Emotion and Addiction Laboratory wrote in their findings, as published this Tuesday, July 17, in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

The team followed around 2,600 high school students over a two year period, covering the age range of 15 and 16 years. What they found over that time is something that would worry parents everywhere — the heaviest users of digital media were found to be almost twice as likely to start exhibiting symptoms of ADHD, according to Forbes.

The link is not yet conclusive, however, and more study will be needed to establish that digital media was the direct cause of the ADHD symptoms. For this study, the team examined how frequently the teens used social media, texting, streaming video and other platforms for a total of 14 categories.

Students with existing ADHD diagnosis were excluded from the study, in…

One Way Your Church Can Help Solve Community Problems — Sam Rainer

The list of ideas is long. While each community will have neighborhood-specific problems, one issue stands out as a neglected nationwide solution most churches are not considering. Fostering is one of the most overlooked ways to get your church solving community problems.

Should Churches Go Into Debt? — Facts & Trends

Should churches go into debt? This question often elicits passionate responses from people at various points on the yes/no spectrum. The passion is often driven by a desire for their church to make the best decision to advance the gospel in their community and around the world. And this is a good thing.

3 Things Church Leaders Should Know About Blended FamiliesJoy Allmond

The married couples and children who make up blended families bring the same giftedness and value to a congregation as anyone else. But there are a few things to keep in mind when welcoming such a family into your congregation or trying to more deeply connect with them.

3 Spiritual Reasons You Should Take Control of Your CalendarMichael Kelley

North Korea Found to Have the Most Modern-Day Slaves Worldwide

North Korea Found to Have the Most Modern-Day Slaves Worldwide

In a study published by The Global Slavery Index, in 2018, North Korea stands to have the most modern-day slaves, a total estimate of 2.6 million in the country. Types of slavery included in the study are “human trafficking, forced marriage, and the exploitation of children, along with slavery,” The Blaze reports. Not included is organ trafficking and child soldier recruitment:

“Unfortunately, due to the limits of existing data, it was not possible for the Global Estimates of Modern Slavery to measure and include the scale of trafficking for organ removal or the recruitment child soldiers,” The Global Slavery Index concludes.

The Global Slavery Index defines modern slavery this way: “Essentially, it refers to situations of exploitation that a person cannot refuse or leave because of threats, violence, coercion, deception, and/or abuse of power. For example, their passport might be taken away if they are in a foreign country, they might experience or be threatened with violence, or their family might be threatened.”

In North Korea, modern-day slavery is so common that citizens believe it’s their duty. The Blaze reports, “One panellist for the Global Slavery Index, Dr Jang Jin-sung, used to be a member of the North Korean elite class, but that did not exempt him from forced labor. Dr. Jang said that many North Koreans don’t even realize that they were being…

Masked Pastor Claims He Carried Out Ritual Murders of More Than 600 Children Handed to Him by Devil-Worshipping Doctors and Nurse in Bizarre Ghana TV Interview – Urban Christian News

A pastor has claimed to have carried out the ritual murders of more than 600 children handed to him as sacrifices by devil-worshipping doctors and nurses in Ghana.

The unnamed man wore a mask to disguise his identity as he made the shocking claims in a bizarre video, telling a television interviewer he had spent 17 years living with Satan.

In his ‘confession’, he said he had killed 675 people who were ‘mostly children’ given to him by members of an occult group in the medical profession.

Local reports, however, make no mention of any police investigation into alleged ritual murders and does not say when or where they are said to have taken place.

The man, believed to be in his 30s, went on to say that he was born with dark spirits and once had more than 650 demonic spirits at his disposal – some of which he named.

He said he had needed to make the sacrifices in order to sustain his power – but has since left the ‘Satanic kingdom’, according to reports in the country.

DeLorean visits Portsmouth Cathedral before Back to the Future screening

Families visitng Portsmouth Cathedral on Saturday were able to pose for photos with the car outside and take part in a variety of activities inside the cathedral before watching the film Back to the Future together.

The activities include a recital in which the theme tune and music from the film was played on the cathedral’s organ.

In a different part of the cathedral, there was the chance for families to learn about navigation and measuring time, including making their own clocks.

The day is part of the cathedral’s annual theme of ‘Time’ which involves a screening of one Dr Who episode each month in the Dolphin pub opposite the cathedral, followed by discussions about its moral and spiritual implications.

Sharon Court, annual theme curator at Portsmouth Cathedral, told Premier: “We’ve got loads of things happening and one of the things we’re most excited about is the arrival of a full-size replica DeLorean car on the South front. It’s been lovingly created, all the pieces sourced by a chap [called Tom Reddaway]…and it’s beautiful, he’s really taken a lot of time to find all the right parts so it looks exactly like it did in the movie.”

When asked why they were focusing on a theme she explained: “The Cathedral’s had an annual theme for the last three or four years which shapes their outreach and their community engagement and it’s a way of helping people to…

Mom Shares Food Packaging Warning After Her Teen Daughter Dies From Chips Ahoy Cookie

A Florida mon is now taking it upon herself to warn others about food labels, following the death of her 15-year-old daughter. Alexi Stafford, who was allergic to peanuts, accidentally ate a cookie containing peanut butter at a friend’s house after mistaking them for the usual chocolate chip variety.

The teen was at the house of her friend on June 25 when she made the fatal mistake of eating a cookie from an open pack of Chips Ahoy, as her mother shared on Facebook. According to Kellie Travers-Stafford, it’s likely that her daughter mistook the cookies for the Chips Ahoy Soft Chunky original variant which would have been safe for her to eat.

GoFundMe/Kenneth DrysdaleAlexi Ryann Stafford died of complications from a severe allergic reaction after eating a Chips Ahoy cookie.

As she shared in the photos included, the packaging for the original and the peanut butter variants of the chewy Chips Ahoy variety were the same red color, with the difference marked by a small label that would have been hidden by the top flap when pulled back.

“I want to share our story with everyone because we want to spread awareness. The company has different colored packaging to indicate chunky, chewy, or regular but NO screaming warnings about such a fatal ingredient to many people. Especially children,” the mourning mother wrote.

Alexi made it to her home after eating the cookie but she was overtaken by anaphylactic shock, a deadly complication of a severe allergic reaction, not long after. The family gave her two doses of EpiPens to bring back her breathing to normal, but the girl died an hour and a half after…

Pray for Kellyville First Baptist Church

Hi.
Without knowing all things one cannot always give guidance except for through the leading of the holy Spirit however respectfully there can be any reason for the change and we must walk in the Spirit in all things including the way things look.

I once asked God to get get rid of whoever should not be in the Church and He cleared it. I mean CLEARED which is not an understatement at all.

It is possible that God has put out those who were or would have been destructive. When Israel lost a battle against Ai, it was because of one bad transgressor, therefore they would have been stronger in war without him.

The question is, why have people left?
If people left for example:
They did not like the preaching style, the changes of service times and people being given new or different duties they have deserted the Church in battle instead of uniting. The question then becomes their motives. Wrong motives can cause people to become the adversaries gateway to the fellowship as can weakness.

Seat fillers are dead weight and often cause the fellowship to be weak.

As disheartening as it may be, there’s times people just have to move on or a spring clean needs to take place, not based on “this is how we used to do it”, or “she’s been there for years, how could she leave, we love her” etc.. then these are not the things to look at.

this is a time to seek the Lord not for what the Church wants but to find out what “His” will is.

Its not about numbers. Better 100 strong genuine saints…

Man Born Without Limbs Thanks God For His Talents, Engagement

Man Born Without Limbs Thanks God For His Talents, Engagement

A 24-year-old Utah man born without limbs is thanking God for his talent and gifts and especially for his fiancée – a woman who has had a crush on him since childhood.

“[N]one of this is possible without God’s hand in it. By His grace am I able to do any of these things,” Gideon DiMeglio told KSL-TV.

DiMeglio was born in 1994 without hands or arms and with feet attached to short legs. An ultrasound had prepared his parents – born-again Christians – for his disability. He was their fourth child.

Soon, though, they discovered his many gifts. He had a big smile. He had an outgoing personality and was a leader among classmates at school. Most of all, he loved to draw – which he does today with his feet. His favorite drawing is of his fiancée, Brittani Salazar, who is able-bodied and has arms and legs.

“I had a little crush on Gideon when I was little, like ongoing, off and on. I was just always the annoying little sister,” she told KSL.

As a young girl, she didn’t see Gideon as disabled, even though he is in a motorized chair.

“In 9th grade, I think it was … we had to write a paper about someone who we know who had a disability, and I was like, ‘I can’t think of anyone,’” Salazar said. “And my brother said, ‘What about Gideon?’ And I said, ‘He doesn’t have a disability.’ It just came out because it was just normal to me.”

Said…
