William admires Jerusalem from Mount of Olives

Dressed in a beige linen suit, shirt, tie and sunglasses, William spent 20 minutes standing on a viewing point looking out over the sun-bathed city, marvelling at the sight below.

Famous landmarks including the Western Wall, Temple Mount and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre were pointed out by a guide from the British Embassy.

The Mount of Olives is a mountain ridge east of Jerusalem’s Old City with stunning views of many of its ancient landmarks.

Named after the olive groves that once lined its slopes, it has great significance for Jews and Christians as many biblical events took place in the area.

In the Old Testament, King David fled over the Mount of Olives to escape when his son Absalom rebelled.

In the New Testament, Jesus often walked over the Mount of Olives from the Temple to Bethany or went there to pray and rest. Luke 22 details how Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane on the Mount of Olives before he was lbetrayed by Judas and later crucified.

He also went down over the Mount on his triumphal entry to Jerusalem on Palm Sunday.

The Power of Celebrating in Church Revitalization – Revitalize & Replant #047

SUBSCRIBE TODAY: iTunes • RSS • Stitcher • TuneIn Radio • Google Play

Celebrating the wins in a revitalization is important as you gain momentum moving forward. Today we discuss why it’s important and how to improve on this in your church.

Today’s Listener Question:

FROM THOMAS

I’ve been at my current church for a little over four years. We’ve seen some small wins in revitalization over the past year or so. What should I do to keep the momentum going when the wins are small and not something everyone in the church sees?

Episode Highlights:

  • Celebration leads to action in the church.
  • Fewer and fewer churches are truly celebrating conversions by new believers.
  • The more you celebrate something in your church, the more likely people are to gravitate to doing that.
  • Celebrate a church’s past not as something to which we should return but as something that provides hope for the future.
  • Other local churches are your ministry partners, not your ministry competitors.

The seven ways you can celebrate are:

  1. “What gets celebrated gets done”
  2. Celebrate small victories
  3. Celebrate community impact
  4. Celebrate each conversion
  5. Celebrate the history of the church as a path for the future
  6. Celebrate improvements in the church’s facilities
  7. Celebrate ministry partners

Resources mentioned in this episode include:

Revitalize & Replant is sponsored by the North American Mission Board and ChurchReplanters.com. More than 10% of churches in North America are at risk of closing and the North American…

Church leaders demand freedom for missionaries ‘showing God’s love’ in Asia

Tawanda Chandiwana (pictured centre) has been kept at a detention centre on the outskirts of the country’s capital city, Manila, after being accused of links to a “subversive group”. He denies any wrongdoing.

The Zimbabwean national is among three Methodist missionaries – the others are Adam Shaw (pictured right) from Brunswick in Ohio and Miracle Osman (left) from Malawi – who are all currently being denied permission to leave the country.

In a statement the United Methodist Church (UMC) said: “[We] are launching a worldwide campaign to call public attention to the plight of Tawanda and two other missionaries who were in the country fulfilling their commission to show God’s love in the world.”

Chandiwana and Osman were in the Philippians to complete a 20-month missionary programme which included involvement in peacebuilding, environmental conservation, teaching English, human rights and social work.

Shaw is a former participant on the programme and is now in full-time mission work.

All three individuals were briefly detained and questioned in February will joining a fact-finding investigation into alleged human rights violations near General Santos City in the south of the Philippines.

Joyce Meyer’s Daily 28 June 2018 Devotional — It Takes a Team

Topic: It Takes a Team [Joyce Meyer’s Devotional Thursday June 28, 2018]

It happened that while Jesus was praying in a certain place, after He finished, one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray…” — Luke 11:1

In 1867, John Roebling had a vision and a passion to do something experts said couldn’t be done: build a bridge from Manhattan to Brook¬lyn, in New York City. No one believed it could be done, but Roebling and his son Washington, a young engineer, persevered.

The Roeblings hired their crew and finally got to work on John’s dream. Only a few months into the project, a worksite accident took John’s life. But the project continued, with Washington as its leader.

Three years later, Washington was severely injured. He was unable to talk, walk, or even move most of his body. But his mind was sharp, and his dream of building the bridge still burned in his heart.

Washington had two things in his favor: one finger that still worked and a wife who loved him. Roebling and his wife figured out a communication system in which he tapped on her arm. For eleven years, Washington tapped out messages and instructions for the bridge, until it was finally complete.

Washington Roebling needed a dependable team of people to achieve his dream. He needed his father, his crew, and his wife. We need other people too; we can love, support, help, and encourage them, and they can do the same for us.

Prayer Starter: Father, help me to never underestimate the value of the people You put in my life. Allow me to see who I need to help…and also who I should allow to help me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

David Ibiyeomie: Multiplying Grace

Topic: Multiplying Grace

At new birth, everyone has a measure of grace just like every believer has a measure of faith at redemption.

Eph.2:8-9 -For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

At redemption, you were given a measure of grace and what you do with it determines what becomes of it. It is labour that facilitates the growth of grace.

1Cor.15:10 -But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

Without labour, grace will be in vain. Labour releases the value of grace into a life.

Prov.20:4 – The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing.

Grace can be frustrated or received in vain. One of the ways to keep the grace of God alive and ever increasing is to engage in relevant and value-adding labour. Grace multiplies through different the channels of laboring in prayer and in the word.

Col.4:12 -Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.

The altar of prayer is the throne of grace.

Heb.4:16 -Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

You therefore accumulate grace on the altar of prayers. Here, prayer is defined as labour and it enhances the multiplication of grace.

1Tim.5:17 -Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.

When you labour in the word of God, grace multiplies too and you enter into rest. Labour is not just working on a construction site, laboring in prayer and the study of the word are fundamental spiritual principles that can enhance the multiplication of grace in your life.

2Peter 1:2 -Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

Receive grace for tireless productive labour. Every time you pray for the kingdom of God, you are investing into your destiny. Every time you invest in kingdom stewardship, you are investing into posterity. Don’t sit down and wait for people to serve you; get involved in rendering services to God and His kingdom and the grace of God upon your life will keep multiplying in Jesus name –Amen.

God bless you

Teens Open Heavens 28 June 2018 – Kingdom Principles

Topic: Kingdom Principles [Teens Open Heavens 28, June 2018]

Memorise: Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD. Obadiah 4

Read: Obadiah 1-4 (KJV)

1 The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning Edom; We have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the heathen, Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle.

2 Behold, I have made thee small among the heathen: thou art greatly despised.

3 The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?

4 Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD.

Bible In One Year: Job 13-15, Acts 8:26-40

MESSAGE:

Heavenly principles are different from earthly ones. If you want to succeed in the Kingdom race, you must be conversant with Kingdom principles. For instance, Luke 6:38 says you will not be given until you give. Nothing comes without a basis. Giving is the basis for which God gives to you. If you do not give, Heaven has no reason to give to you.

Proverbs 11:24 says if you want to increase, first scatter out what you already have. If you follow the logical, worldly principle of holding tight what you have so you won’t lose it, you will suddenly discover that everything you were holding on to has disappeared and you are more improverished than you could have imagined. To be successful, stick with Kingdom principles!

Action Point: Search the Scriptures, identify and adopt Kingdom principles to regulate your daily living.

Hymn 2:
1. When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

2. Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.

3. Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.

4.But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.

5. Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.

Daily Devotional for Teen’s guide was written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, one of the largest evangelical church in the world and also the President of Christ the Redeemer’s Ministries.

MFM Mountain Top Life Daily Devotional Thursday, 28 June 2018 – The Journey Of Life

TOPIC: The Journey Of Life (Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries Thursday, 28 June 2018)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: 1 Kings 13: 11-18

MEMORY VERSE: “And Moses did as the LORD commanded him: and he took Joshua, and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation:” – Numbers 27:22

The MESSAGE:

In the journey of life, God has a plan, the plan of God is redemption. The devil has a plot, his plot is destruction (John 10:10). Man has a problem which is sin. Christ has a promise which is eternal life. God settled His eternal purpose before the foundation of the world (Ephesians 1:4).

God has a map of all our journeys on earth. Also, God has set everyone on the road to his destiny. This road to destiny fulfilment, more than not depends on divine connection. In the journey of life, there are some people ordained to meet you and catapult your destiny. If you miss them, then you miss your divine helpers. There are some blocker spirits that could prevent you from meeting those ordained to give your destiny a great leap. Also, in the journey of life, there are some people you should not meet. If you meet them, they will lure you into tragedy of distractions, diversions and bondage of errors and mistakes. They will make you unable to fulfill one’s destiny or complete the journey of life. Joshua met Moses who mentored him into divine accomplishment. On the contrary, a man of God from Judah encountered an old prophet in Bethel, who enticed him and caused him to disobey the counsel of God. Eventually, the man of God from Judah was slain by a lion (1 Kings 13)

Every child of God is destined to have a successful journey of life in accordance with God’s plan. However, there are obstacles all the way which require our serious attention. Most obstacles are consequent upon living an unholy life, failure to follow divine direction, pampering our weakness, eating that which belongs to God, and not giving glory to God. To make success of your journey, you must remove all those obstacles you created and depend on the Holy Spirit to lead you all the way. He has the road map of your life and will help you make a success of your journey through life.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
Big thinking precedes big achievement.

PROPHETIC WORD:
The Lord shall destroy every obstacle on your way to destiny fulfilment.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING
1. My divine helper, wherever you are, appear and locate me, in the name of Jesus.
2. Old evil prophet assigned against my destiny, die, in the name of Jesus.
3. My Moses, appear and give me charge as God commanded, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING
4. Self inflicted obstacles on my way to success, disappear by fire, in the name of Jesus.
5. Any power saying no to God’s yes in my life, die, in the name of Jesus.
6. Powers of my father’s house attacking me in my dream, die, in the name of Jesus.
7. O Lord, if I have walked out of Your plan, bring me back, in the name of Jesus.

DCLM Daily Manna 28 June, 2018 by Pastor Kumuyi – Know Your Priority

Topic: Know Your Priority [DCLM Daily Manna Thursday June 28, 2018]

Text: Acts 26:13-29 (KJV)

Key Verse: “To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me” (Acts 26:18).

MESSAGE:

Changing the Guard at Windsor Castle provides a colourful spectacle as the guards, usually led by a Regimental Band, march from Victoria Barracks to the castle. You will need tickets for Windsor Castle as Changing the Guard takes place inside the castle precincts. But mounting an honour guard at Buckingham Palace is not the core of army duties. The armed forces of every country have the priority to secure the territory of the nation and provide security to the citizens. Their most important duty is to dab their camouflages, pick only the essential items and move into the battlefield.

The purpose of Apostle Paul’s calling and his priority was so clear to him that he was ever ready to narrate it without referring to his notes. He spoke about it when he was on trial before King Agrippa and Festus, the Roman governor, with utmost conviction – turning his defence into an opportunity to preach the Word. His lifetime purpose was to open the eyes of sinners through the gospel and to turn them from darkness unto light; from the power of Satan unto God. His commitment to fulfilling what he referred to as “the heavenly vision”, occupied him for the rest of his life.

The gospel of the kingdom must be preached for a witness to all nations before the end would come (Matthew 24:14). This involves both local and foreign missionary outreaches to every unreached people of the world.

Unfortunately, most believers today appear to have lost their commitment to the heavenly vision of reaching lost sinners because their attention is drawn away by festivities in the world. Some of these events, though not sinful in themselves, have robbed believers of precious time to concentrate on the most important duty. It is time to go back to our most basic priority – preaching the gospel to the lost.

Thought For The Day: Do not focus on a good or even better activity, while the best is left undone.

TREM Devotional 28 June 2018 by Dr. Mike Okonkwo – The Power In The Word

Topic: The Power In The Word [TREM Devotional Thursday June 28, 2018]

“It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” John 6:63

One of the things every believer must know is the infallibility of the Word of God. The Word of God is the final authority. Nothing can be added and nothing can be removed from the Word. When the Word of God goes forth, then without fail, it will accomplish that which it is set out to do. That is the truth every child of God must settle in his or her spirit.

Jesus talking about the Word did not mince words and was not intimidated to say “… The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life”. This is His own validation of the potency of His Word. His words are Yea and Amen and forever His words are settled in Heaven. So, what are you building your life on?

The time has come to stand firmly on the Word of God. Remember: what the Word of God cannot give you; 1. You don’t need it and 2. It does not exist. So, hold on firmly to the Word.

What has God promised you in His Word? Can you sit down and take a moment to write down these promises? Write them down, make them into prophecies and declare them over your life until you see them manifest. The Word is true; everything gravitates in the direction of the Word. When God speaks, everything aligns. Nothing and absolutely nothing can stand against the Word. Yes, the word of man will fail, but not the Word of God. No matter how good the intention of man is, man still has limitations. Even the richest man on earth cannot fulfil his word once he is dead; but that is not like the Word of God. The Word of God works, irrespective of person and location. There is Power in the Word of God!

Seeds of Destiny 28 June 2018 by Pastor Paul Enenche – The Implication Of Being The Light Of The World

Topic: The Implication Of Being The Light Of The World [Seeds of Destiny Thursday June 28, 2018]

Scripture: Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16

Thought For The Day: Being the light means anywhere you step into, things and people are upgraded.

Our Anchor Scripture makes it clear that every child of God is the light of the world. This means, every child of God is light in motion or mobile light. As children of God, we are designed to exist as light in our generation.

Therefore, it is important to look at the function of light:

Light is Critical for Generational Transformation
Light equals development. The difference between the developed and the developing countries is the availability of power or light. Light is a transformer of generations. So, as a Christian, being the light of the world means you are the transformer of you family and the developer of your community and nation. Your appearance equals development, progress, advancement and revolution in your generation. Being the light implies that anywhere you step into, things and people are upgraded.

It is an abomination of creation if things degenerate in your workplace because of your ineptitude. As a child of God, people should know what progress is all about when they see you, they should know what development means by observing your exploits. Anyone who is related or associated with you should be upgraded in life. As a married person, the life of your spouse should be upgraded because of you; your spouse should be organised, co-ordinated, transformed, translated, and transmogrified because of you.
You are the light of the world! You are the revolution your generation is waiting for! You are the transformer of your generation! Everywhere you arrive, revolution or transformation becomes natural.

Beloved, live in the reality of being the light to your generation. Let there be a change that transmits light to your generation, nation, community and family members. Make up your mind not to add to the darkness of this world by the way you live.

Remember this: Being the light means anywhere you step into, things and people are upgraded.

Assignments:
1. Decide to be a true light to your generation.
2. Let your presence provoke change and development.
3. Add value to the lives of people around you.

Prayer: Thank You Lord for Your Word to me today. I receive the grace to be a true light to my generation, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
