Virgil Abloh’s Louis Vuitton Collection Is a Big Draw in Paris – Urban Christian News

The debut Louis Vuitton collection by Virgil Abloh, the first African-American to head a major European fashion house, drew stars of all stripes to Paris for his rainbow-themed menswear show.

Kanye West was there with his wife, Kim Kardashian West, who had returned to Paris for the first time since she was tied up and robbed at gunpoint during an October 2016 jewelry heist. Model Bella Hadid weathered a prevailing hot spell behind shades, while Rihanna and Naomi Campbell arrived for the big event of Paris Fashion Week at the last minute.

Here are some highlights from Thursday’s spring-summer menswear shows:

LOUIS VUITTON’S INCLUSIVE RAINBOW

“It is a big, big day,” Bella Hadid said as she took her seat in the yellow section of Louis Vuitton’s multicolored set.

“It’s great,” chimed in Rihanna, who rocked a hip, white LV jumpsuit.

It was clear by the mood at the show that expectations for artistic director Abloh’s debut were at stratospheric levels.

And Abloh did not squander his moment. There was deep and thoughtful symbolism throughout the 56 multicolored looks.

White dominated the first designs. The hue, which signifies purity or new beginnings, also inspired Abloh’s first main fashion venture, the Milan-based house Off-White.

On Thursday, it was the base color for sheer T-shirts, LV fitted jackets and loose pleated pants that were accessorized with broken white chains that hung from bags and dragged on the floor. All of the models displaying the garments were black.

Colors then flourished.

A fluorescent yellow breast-plate top began a leitmotif of cage-like…

French Priest Slaps Crying Baby During Baptism – Urban Christian News

Disturbing video has emerged of a priest slapping a baby across the face as he administers a baptism.

In a 40-second clip posted online, the French-speaking clergyman is seen to lash out in frustration during the ceremony as the tiny child is held by a woman thought to be his mother.

The exact location of the church and date of the incident are unclear, although the video surfaced on the internet on Wednesday.

“I’m going to put water on the forehead, and after I’ll embrace the little man, because he will have become a little Christian,” the elderly priest says in the footage.

However, he soon becomes annoyed with that the boy will not stop crying, grabbing him by the face, raising his voice and telling the infant: “Stop crying, calm down. Calm down.”

He then unleashes a sharp slap against the baby’s cheek, shocking those sat in the church, who can be heard to gasp.

Having seen enough, a man thought to be the child’s father steps in and tries to remove him from the situation – only for the priest to grip the boy by his neck.

David Ibiyeomie: Becoming An Overcomer

Topic: Becoming An Overcomer

In every warfare, until you are on the offensive, you cannot become a victor. In warfare, those who retreat and defend don’t win the battles of life. It is only those who are ready to advance that can put the enemy under check. An army that must win in warfare has to be on the offensive.

Satan is the one behind every killing, stealing and destruction. Though he is not powerful; he thrives in subtlety. He is the arch-enemy of the believers; he capitalizes on the ignorance of the believers. He has been a master deceiver; very subtle. His major weapon is deception.

Eph. 4:27 -Neither give place to the devil.

Satan tempted Jesus with turning stone to bread because he knew Jesus was hungry as a result of the fast; so, he uses your weakness to attack you.

Matt. 4:4 -But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Jesus responded with the Word of God; so when you give the devil the written word, you cannot be written off. You don’t converse or chat with the devil; you give him back the Word of God. Never try to deal with the devil outside the word of God. It is the understanding of God’s word that permanently puts the devil under check.

Satan usually take advantage of people’s ignorance. Every time you are not concentrating on God’s word, satan will deceive you with something. So, until you arrest him, you cannot take charge because his ministry is to kill, steal and destroy.

One of the areas through which satan and his cohorts gain advantage over ignorant believers is through insensitivity to divine signal. You can forestall or escape any work of the devil through divine signal. Through divine signal, Elisha knew that the enemies were coming to attack him and he prayed that they go blind. Many fare falling prey to the devil through insensitivity. You cannot have the Holy Spirit in you and not hear when He speaks. Every time the Holy Ghost gives you a signal, be very sensitive.

Acts 20:22-23- And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there: 23 Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.

Apostle Paul in the above scripture, was insensitive to the voice and warning of the Holy Ghost not to go to Jerusalem and never came back alive. When you play with divine signal, you may head for devastation. Most tragedy is because of insensitivity. May you never be deaf anymore in Jesus name!

I pray for you today, whatever is evil will not see you! You are touch-not to evil; even poverty will be far from you! All arrows of the wicked will not see you. The aircraft, car or boat you board shall arrive safely. Evil will clear from your path henceforth in Jesus name –Amen!!!

Teens Open Heavens 22 June 2018 – His Witness

Topic: His Witness [Teens Open Heavens 22, June 2018]

Memorise: The same came for the witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. John 1:7

Read: John 1:6-8 (KJV)

6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.

8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

Bible In One Year: Esther 4-6, Acts 5:17-42

MESSAGE:

Acts 1:8, Jesus says you shall be a witness for Him. What does it mean to be a witness? In the secular, when there is a case involving two or more people and it is taken to a court of law, both parties would be expected to invite witnesses who would make statements in favour of the person who invited them. The testimony of the witness is expected to strengthen the argument of the one who invited him as a witness.

Every follower of Christ has been called to be a witness of the Lord. John the Baptist was sent as a witness of Jesus Christ so that all men through him might believe in Jesus. You have been saved so that you might be a witness of Jesus by telling others what He did for you, how He saved you from sin and that He can do the same and much more for them. A witness who refuses to testify in court is obviously an enemy of the one he is to witness for. Are you His witness? Tell someone about Jesus today!

Action Point: As a witness of Jesus Christ, lead a soul to Christ today and then pray for that soul to be established.

Hymn 15:

1. Wonderful story of love;
Tell it to me again;
Wonderful story of love;
Wake the immortal strain!
Angels with rapture announce it,
Shepherds with wonder receive it;
Sinner, 0h, won’t you believe It?
Wonderful story of love.

Chorus:
Wonderful! Wonderful!
Wonderful, Wonderful story of love.

2. Wonderful story of love,
Though you are far away;
Wonderful story of love;
Still He doth call today;
Calling from Calvary’s mountain,
Down from the crystal-bright fountain,
E’en from the dawn of creation,
Wonderful story of love.

3. Wonderful story of love:
Jesus provides a rest;
Wonderful story of love;
For all the pure and blest,
Rest in those mansions above us,
With those who’ve gone on before us,
Singing the rapturous chorus,
Wonderful story of Love.

MFM Mountain Top Life Daily Devotional Friday, 22 June 2018 – Send It On Ahead

TOPIC: Send It On Ahead (Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries Friday, 22 June 2018)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Matthew 6:19-20

MEMORY VERSE: “There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.”Proverbs 11:24

The MESSAGE:

Storing up treasure in heaven is not limited to only your acts of obedience to God; it extends to giving. Psalm 24 verse 1 says, “The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof”. God owns everything. God in His loving kindness has made us stewards over all His creation. What we do with His creation is of utmost concern to Him. A farmer whose land yielded a bountiful harvest received from the Lord because it was the land that produced the harvest and not the man. If God has placed blessings/riches in your hands, it is your attitude to the blessings/riches that determines whether you are laying up riches in heaven or earth. Many so called Christians have money they cannot spend all their life time, so they put it in banks outside their countries and some bury it in the ground. This category of people have forgotten the counsel of the Lord as written in today’s scripture. How glorious it would have been if they sent the money to God’s own bank in heaven!

Wealth as we know it, is not intricately evil. It is our greed that is sinful and getting us into trouble. With greed, we store up treasure for ourselves and are not rich towards the things of God. As Christians, we must handle wealth according to the will and purpose of God. God has given a command that the rich in this present world must not be arrogant, nor put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. We should be rich in good deeds, be generous and willing to share. By doing this, we will lay up treasure for ourselves in heaven.

The Lord suggests that, “we can send our wealth ahead, that we can store it up in heaven, we can invest in eternity. We do not need to put our gold in a balloon and float it up. We can invest in our eternity by providing for the poor and the needy. This can include our children and family members, for charity begins at home. We should bountifully invest in the things of God. Though your wealth and riches cannot go with you to heaven but you can send it ahead by investing it in the things of God. Beloved, since you can’t take it with you (enroute heaven) then send it on ahead. God reciprocate by sending interest payments even now upon the generous.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
Gaze upon Christ long enough, and you will become more of a giver. Give long enough, and you WILL become more like Christ.

PROPHETIC WORD:
Your giving will lay up treasures for you in heaven.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING
1. O God my Father, take my silver and my gold not a mite will I withhold, in the name of Jesus.
2. Anything in my life that will send me to hell fire, I relinquish it by fire, in Jesus’ name.
3. Take my life and let it be consecrated to You Lord, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING
4. My wealth will not send me to hell fire, in the name of Jesus.
5. Anything in my life struggling to take God’s position, die, in the name of Jesus.
6. Power to give, overshadow my life, in the name of Jesus.
7. Love of God rather than love of Mammon, come on me, in the name of Jesus.

TREM Devotional 22 June 2018 by Dr. Mike Okonkwo – Don’t Take Permanent Decision Because Of Temporary Problems

Topic: Don’t Take Permanent Decision Because Of Temporary Problems [TREM Devotional Friday June 22, 2018]

“Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Bethlehem Judah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons” Ruth 1:1

The land of Israel experienced a major famine in the days of Elimelech, the husband of Naomi and to solve the challenge of famine, he went down to Moab. For him, this looked like a perfect solution to get away from the famine in the land. Looking at it today, we can safely say that he used his commonsense to solve a spiritual challenge and the result is that he lost his life and that of his two sons.

Beloved, the devil has nothing good in store for you. When you are faced with challenges, don’t go to the world for solution. Don’t use your sixth sense when it is contrary to the Word of God. What Elimelech did is like going to the world for solutions. Before you blame him, have you not been there? You are faced with financial challenge and rather than wait on God for an answer, you chose to cut a fast deal and you justify it by saying “heaven helps those who help themselves”. Is that not like what Elimelech did? Beloved, stand with God. Don’t bend the rules, don’t compromise. Let God be God in your life.

Elimelech left the land of bread (Bethlehem Judah) and went to Moab (the land of incest) and the result was a loss of all he was trying to protect. He took a permanent decision to solve a temporary problem. The challenge you are facing is temporary. It will soon be over. Hold on, stand your ground. Hold on to the Word of God and God will show up for you.

Seeds of Destiny 22 June 2018 by Pastor Paul Enenche – How To Handle Time Profitably

Topic: How To Handle Time Profitably [Seeds of Destiny Friday June 22, 2018]

Scripture: Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Ephesian 5:16

Thought For The Day: Where you spent most of your time will determine where you will get your most outstanding result in life.

Previously, we looked at the importance of time and time management in the realization of destiny. We noted that great achievers are effective time managers. Now, it is important to look at how to profitably maximize the time of your life.

The question is, how do we use our time in order to ensure the fulfilment of destiny?

1. Time in Relationship with God
In order to use time effectively for the realization of destiny, there is a need to order your day; order your life with quality relationship with God, Prayer, communion and worship. Let your life literally revolve around this. Where you spent most of your time will determine where you will get your most outstanding results in life. Spend quality time with God, the Word of God, in prayer and in worship, and you will get quality results.

2. Time in spiritual development
Spiritual development is the study of the word and the word base study. In spiritual development, you select areas of your life that you want to develop; it may be the area of wisdom, anointing or faith; then you study on these areas of life and develop yourself spiritually.

3. Time in Personal and professional development
Personal development is all the things you do to make your life better career-wise or professionally. This involves the sharpening of your talent, investment into your potential, investment into your expertise, making yourself better on what you do. There are people who may not get a job because their market value is low due to lack of personal development.

Beloved, I would like you to thank God for the job you do currently; develop yourself and be the best at what you do.

Remember this: Where you spent most of your time will determine where you will get the most of your result in life.

Assignments:
1. Spend time with God at the place of prayer.
2. Spend time in personal spiritual development.
3. Spend time in professional or career development.

Prayer: O Lord, I receive the grace to spend quality time with You. Help and empower me to spend time in personal spiritual and professional development, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

DCLM Daily Manna 22 June, 2018 by Pastor Kumuyi – Inner Beauty

Topic: Inner Beauty [DCLM Daily Manna Friday June 22, 2018]

Text: 1 Timothy 2:9-15 (KJV)

Key Verse: “In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array” (1 Timothy 2:9).

MESSAGE:

Man is a tripartite being. That is, we are made up of body, soul and spirit. But since the fall of man at the Garden of Eden, man’s focus has always been to polish and concentrate on the outward, which is the body. Imagine a fallen Adam sewing fig leaf to cover his nakedness when actually his soul and spirit were naked before God.

Such is still the case today. Modern man has become very sophisticated in this matter. We spend precious time and treasure in trying to maintain the exterior. The whole fashion and cosmetic industry is devoted to handling the outside and outlook of men and, especially, women. Very unwisely, little or less time, treasure and care are devoted to the inner beauty, the inner life.

In today’s reading, God’s word admonishes the women folk (who seem to be the epicentre of modern-day cosmetic and fashion industry) to rather focus on the inner beauty of godliness. They are to wear, as it were, modesty and humility as under garments. The resultant effects would be good works at home, in the church and workplace.

Depending on the outward life to judge a person often brings about a misjudgment. Hence, God would rather want us to concentrate on the internal. Meanwhile, Jesus, our Lord, had to rebuke the Scribes and Pharisees for their outward show of religion without a corresponding, sincere, inward profession (Matthew 23:25-29).

While true godliness should never be measured by outward observances alone, we should pray for and allow the purity of the inner beauty reflect on the outward to lead others to glorify God on our behalf.

Thought For The Day: True beauty is continuing in faith, charity and holiness with sobriety.

Kenneth & Gloria Copeland Devotional 22 June 2018 – Expect a Harvest

Topic: Expect a Harvest [Kenneth & Gloria Copeland, Friday June 22, 2018]

Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. Luke 6:38

Give and it shall be given unto you. That statement came straight from the mouth of Jesus. Yet there are a great many believers who flatly refuse to believe it. In fact, they actually have the mistaken idea that it’s wrong to expect to receive when they give.

The truth is—it’s wrong not to!

What would you think about a farmer who planted seeds, then let his crop rot in the field? You’d think he was a fool, wouldn’t you? And if he did it when others were starving, you’d think he was criminally irresponsible.

Well, it’s just as irresponsible to give financial seeds and ignore the harvest God promised. Especially when that harvest could help send the gospel to people who are starving to hear it. It’s just as wrong to ignore the key to prosperity that Jesus Himself gave us as it is to let a wheat crop rot in the field.

God wants us to receive from the financial seeds that we plant. He wants us to be prepared to require no aid ourselves and to be “furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation” (2 Corinthians 9:8, The Amplified Bible). He wants us to have plenty—not so we can hoard it selfishly—but so we can give generously.

Next time you give, don’t be afraid to expect a harvest! Release your faith for the financial rewards Jesus promised. Then, when they come, turn right around and plant them again. Keep the flow of giving and receiving going so that the Lord can bless the world through you!

Our Daily Bread Devotional 22 June 2018 – Fellowship with Jesus

Topic: Fellowship with Jesus [Our Daily Bread 22 Friday June, 2018]

Read: Philippians 3:7–14, Bible in a Year: Esther 6–8; Acts 6

I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. Philippians 3:8

I’ll never forget the time I had the privilege of sitting next to Billy Graham at a dinner. I was honored but also somewhat nervous about what would be appropriate to say. I thought it would be an interesting conversation starter to ask what he loved most about his years of ministry. Then I awkwardly started to suggest possible answers. Was it knowing presidents, kings, and queens? Or preaching the gospel to millions of people around the world?

Before I had finished offering suggestions, Rev. Graham stopped me. Without hesitation he said, “It has been my fellowship with Jesus. To sense His presence, to glean His wisdom, to have Him guide and direct me—that has been my greatest joy.” I was instantly convicted and challenged. Convicted because I’m not sure that his answer would have been my answer, and challenged because I wanted it to be.

That’s what Paul had in mind when he counted his greatest achievements to be of no worth compared to the “surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord” (Philippians 3:8). Think of how rich life would be if Jesus and our fellowship with Him was our highest pursuit.

Prayer: Lord, forgive me for chasing after things that matter far less than my fellowship with You. Thank You that You stand ready to enrich my life with Your presence and power.

To remain faithful where God has placed you, give Christ first place in your heart.
