Andrew Wommack’s Devotional 22 June 2018 – Sickness Is Not From God

Topic: Sickness Is Not From God [Andrew Wommack Friday June 22, 2018]

John 9:2 “And his disciples asked him saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?”

Text: John 9:1-4

The disciples asked a question that still puzzles many people today. Why is a child born with a physical defect? Is it a judgment of God upon the parents for some sin, or is it possibly God’s judgment upon the child for sins that God knows he will commit?

Jesus Himself had previously linked sickness with sin. In this instance, however, Jesus said this blindness was not caused by this man’s or his parents’ sins.

This has led many people to interpret the rest of this verse as saying that God made this man blind just so that He could heal him and be glorified thereby. From this thinking, many doctrinal teachings have risen about how sickness and other problems in our lives are actually blessings from God, intended to bring glory to God and correction to us. This reasoning, however, does not line up with the other truths of God’s Word.

It was not God who made this beggar blind. This man was not born blind because of any one person’s sins but because sin in general had corrupted the perfect balance that God had created in nature. Therefore, some maladies happen, not as a direct result of an individual’s sins but as an indirect result of sin in general.

Deuteronomy 28 settles forever the question of whether sickness, poverty, and oppression are really blessings in disguise. God says that sickness and poverty are curses – not blessings from God. Christ redeemed us from these curses of the law so that now the blessings may come upon us through Him (Galatians 3:13). God’s curses have been placed on Jesus and removed from those who accept Jesus’ sacrifice. You are blessed!

Billy Graham Devotional 22 June 2018 – The Most Unique Person

Topic: The Most Unique Person [Billy Graham’s Devotional Friday June 22, 2018]

Worthy is the Lamb . . . to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing.Revelation 5:12

H.G. Wells wrote, “Christ is the most unique person of history. No man can write a history of the human race without giving first and foremost place to the penniless teacher of Nazareth.” Rabbi Stephen Wise said concerning Jesus, “You will find that He is divinely human. It is no mean joy to us of the house of Israel to recognize, to honor and to cherish among our brethren, Jesus the Jew, who has influenced the world more than any other man.” This person called Jesus lived on earth for only 33 years. He never traveled more than 100 miles from His home. Yet Charles Lamb was right in saying, “If all the illustrious men of history were gathered together and Shakespeare should enter their presence, they would rise to do him honor; but if Jesus Christ should come in, they would fall down and worship Him.”

Prayer for the day: Loving Lord Jesus, I would honor You this day and evermore—in adoration I worship You, my Savior and my Lord.

Gang Violence Keeps Central Americans Coming to US Despite Trump – Urban Christian News

Nightfall in El Salvador’s capital was fast approaching and Ernesto Pena was waiting for a bus that never arrived. His work day delivering rice and cooking oil to street vendors in the bustling district of Santa Tecla had ended and like most people he was anxious to get home before the gangs that control the poor neighborhood where he lives enforce an informal curfew.

For years, he and his wife have been saving what they can on their combined $700-a-month income to one day pay smugglers to ferry them and their 8-year-old son to what they hope will be a safer future in the U.S. But the searing images displayed across local newspapers this week of children held in fenced cages after being separated from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border has led the 30-year-old to rethink his plans to journey northward.

“We’ve always thought about going but we haven’t been able to scavenge together enough money,” said Pena, looking around nervously out of fear a gang lookout might spot him talking to a journalist. “And now we have to think about this,” he added, referring to what he worries could be a cruel reception if he manages to reach the U.S.

Still, thousands are pressing on. The number of families entering the U.S. illegally at the southwest border jumped six-fold in May to 9,485 compared with the same month in 2017. Since October, more than 58,000 have arrived, the bulk from Guatemala, followed by Honduras and El Salvador.

Feelings of desperation and impotence are being felt throughout Central America, where the lawlessness, endemic poverty and levels of gang violence akin…

World Pushes Back Against US Tariffs in Trade Fight – Urban Christian News

The United States attacked first, imposing tariffs on steel and aluminum from around the globe and threatening to hit tens of billions of dollars in Chinese products.

Now, the world is punching back.

The European Union is set Friday to slap tariffs on $3.4 billion in American products, from whiskey and motorcycles to peanuts and cranberries. India and Turkey have already targeted U.S. products, ranging from rice to autos to sunscreen.

And the highest-stakes fight still looms: In two weeks, the United States is to start taxing $34 billion in Chinese goods. Beijing has vowed to immediately retaliate with its own tariffs on U.S. soybeans and other farm products in a direct shot at President Donald Trump’s supporters in America’s heartland.

The tit-for-tat conflict between the United States and China — the world’s two largest economies — is poised to escalate from there. The rhetoric is already intensifying.

“We oppose the act of extreme pressure and blackmail by swinging the big stick of trade protectionism,” a spokesman for China’s Commerce Ministry said Thursday. “The U.S. is abusing the tariff methods and starting trade wars all around the world.”

Cecilia Malmstrom, the EU’s trade commissioner, acknowledged that the EU had targeted some iconic American imports for tariffs, like Harley-Davidson motorcycles and bourbon, to “make noise” and put pressure on U.S. leaders.

John Murphy, a senior vice president at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, estimates that $75 billion in U.S. products will be subject to new foreign tariffs by the end of the first week of…

MFM Mountain Top Life Daily Devotional Thursday, 21 June 2018 – Nicodemus’ Question

TOPIC: Nicodemus’ Question (Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries Thursday, 21 June 2018)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: John 3:1-8

MEMORY VERSE: “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3

The MESSAGE:

The power of Christ alone can work the transformation in the heart and mind. “Except a man be born again, the Saviour has said, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3). To be a true partaker of the kingdom, you must be born again. Let us consider some signs of true conversion. To be born again is to be transformed to live the life of Christ. The spirit man must be regenerated.

You have a sense of freedom and peace in the soul when you are born again. Romans 5:1 says, “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” When a person is at peace with God and his fellowman, he cannot be miserable. He will not display any works of the flesh such as adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulation, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envying, murder, drunkenness, revelling (Galatians 5:19-21), but will display the fruit of the spirit: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance (Galatians 5:22-23).

Being born again is an experience of love for others. When the heart is renewed by divine grace, love becomes the ruling principle that effects action. It will modify the character, govern the impulses, control the passions and enable the affections. This love that is cherished in the soul will sweeten the life and shed a refining influence all around. The unconsecrated heart cannot originate it or produce it. It is found only in the heart where Jesus reigns. “We love Him, because He first loved us.”

Being born again is the turning of the mind and heart from the world. “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him” (1 John 2:15). A converted person will have a change of feelings, motives, and actions, taking leave of worldly connections. That is total separation from their controlling power, influences, opinions and unholy atmosphere.

Beloved, to be born again is to keep His commandments: “He that saith, I know Him, and keepeth not His commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him” (1 John 2:4). Brothers and sisters, let no one deceive you, whoever practices righteousness is righteous as He is righteous. Whoever practices sin is of the devil. In other words, if someone claims to be a truly born again Christian and still lives in sin, he is a liar. No Christian is perfect but we can ‘sin-less’ for those who keep on displaying sin as their lifestyle such as appearing in jezebelian attires, indulging in sexual perversions, pornograghy, pre-marital and extramarital sex, embezzling church’s fund, rebelling against the authority cannot be said to be truly born again. Therefore, search your mind to see if you are truly born again. Examine yourself. Are you truly a child of God? Are you truly a child of God? Are you expecting His glorious appearance? Are you still confused about the concept of being born again like Nicodemus? Turn the searchlight on yourself as you go out today.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
If you are not a born again Christian, you’re a failure as a human being.

PROPHETIC WORD:
God will open your eyes to see where you are falling.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

1. My Father, my Father, my Father, search me and know my heart today, in the name of Jesus.
2. Lord Jesus, try me and know my thought, in the name of Jesus.
3. Holy Ghost, use Your search light to see if there be any wickedness in me.

EVENING

4. O God my Father, let me see myself the way You see me, in the name of Jesus.
5. My Father and my God, forgive my sins, in the name of Jesus.
6. Have mercy on me, O God according to Thy loving-kindness, in the name of Jesus.
7. Holy Ghost, lead me by Your righteous right hand in the way everlasting, in the name of Jesus.

Open Heavens 22nd Friday June 2018 — A Shepherd Or A Hunter?

Topic: A Shepherd Or A Hunter? [Open Heavens 22nd June 2018, Friday Daily Devotional]

Memorise: And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.1 Peter 5:4

Read: 1 Peter 5:1-4 (KJV)

1 The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:

2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;

3 Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.

4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

Bible in One Year: 2 Kings 24-25, Acts 15:12-35

MESSAGE:

It is disheartening to note that many hunters have crept into the Body of Christ, disguising themselves as shepherds. How do we distinguish a hunter from a shepherd? A hunter is an opportunist who feeds on the flesh of animals he did not rear. He kills his game indiscriminately without consideration for the wellbeing of the animals he kills. A shepherd, on the other hand, knows even the smallest details about the state of his or her flock. His disposition to the flock is captured beautifully in Psalm 23. Psalm 23:1-3 says,

“1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.”

All those occupying the office of shepherd in the Body of Christ are instructed on God’s expectation of them in today’s Bible reading. They are expected to feed the flock of God and watch over them without any constraint or covetousness. Unlike a hunter that goes after a kill, the shepherd must nurture, preserve and ensure the safety of the sheep. He pampers the lambs and leads the sheep towards green pastures. The shepherd defends the flock against external aggression of wolves and other carnivores. Jesus Christ is our perfect example of a shepherd. In John 10:11, He said:

“I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.”

God expects us to be good shepherds just as our Lord Jesus Christ is. In the Body of Christ today, it is unfortunate that we have unsuspecting sheep who are being led by hunters instead of shepherds. Paul wrote concerning them in Philippians 3:18-19, saying:

“18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: 19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)”

Beloved, you need to identify the shepherds and the hunters in the Body of Christ and ensure you are not being led by a hunter. Any pastor whose primary concern is what he or she can get out of you and not how you will be nurtured and built up in Christ is a hunter. I pray that God will open your eyes of understanding and enable you to discern if you are under a hunter or a shepherd.

Prayer Point: Father, please rid your Church of hunters disguised in the coats of shepherds in Jesus’ Name.

Hymn 12: Take My Life, And Let It Be

1. Take my life and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee.
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in endless praise,
Let them flow in endless praise.

2. Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love.
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee,
Swift and beautiful for Thee.

3. Take my voice and let me sing,
Always, only for my King.
Take my lips and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee,
Filled with messages from Thee.

4. Take my silver and my gold,
Not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect and use
Every pow’r as Thou shalt choose,
Every pow’r as Thou shalt choose.

5. Take my will and make it Thine,
It shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart, it is Thine own,
It shall be Thy royal throne,
It shall be Thy royal throne.

6. Take my love, my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee,
Ever, only, all for Thee.

Hundreds of people in Scotland accepted an invitation to accept Christ at a revival event hosted by Billy Graham’s grandson, Will Graham, last weekend.

The oldest child of outspoken evangelical figure Franklin Graham spoke at the Central Scotland Celebration of Hope, a three-day crusade hosted by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association at Falkirk Stadium.

At one of four evangelistic services, he told the crowd that Jesus is “different than anyone else in human history.”

“Jesus never sinned. He brought people back to life. He healed on the spot. He restored sight to the blind. And He’s the only One who died for your sins,” Graham said, according to a press release. “Jesus Christ isn’t dead. He’s alive today, and He wants to come into your life!”

Is There a Lesbian Character In ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’?

Is There a Lesbian Character In ‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’?

The latest Jurassic World movie has a lesbian character, although it’s uncertain if moviegoers even will notice.

Actress Daniella Pineda, who plays Dr. Zia Rodriguez in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, said a scene from the film in which she references her sexuality was cut. In the scene, she is talking to Chris Pratt’s character.

“I look at Chris and I’m like: ‘Square jaw, good bone structure, tall, muscles — I don’t date men, but if I did, it would be you,’” she said in a Yahoo Entertainment-moderated chat.

The scene took place early in the film but was cut “for the sake of time,” she said.

“I love that I’m looking at Chris Pratt, the hottest guy in the world, and I’m like, ‘It would gross me out, but I guess I would do it!’ It was also cool, because it was a little insight into my character. But they cut it,” she said.

As the BBC noted, it is not the first time that someone on the cast or crew of a major film has claimed LGBT representation in a film based on the script but not the actual footage.

Soloco-writer Jonathan Kasdan said Lando Calrissian – played by Donald Glover – is pansexual. Critics of Kasdan’s comments retorted that in the 1980 film The Empire Strikes Back, Calrissian seems to be 100 percent heterosexual.

“There’s a fluidity to Donald and Billy Dee’s sexuality,” Kasdan told the Huffington Post,…

Virginia Residents Protest Plans to Build Coptic ‘Megachurch,’ Say It’s ‘Incompatible’ With Town

(Photo: Loudoun.gov)Outline of proposed St. Pope Cyril Coptic Church in Aldie, Virginia

Some Northern Virginia residents are fighting against the proposed construction of a 22,000 square-foot Coptic church, claiming that the church will set a troubling “precedent” for their area and that it’s “incompatible” with the community.

St. Pope Cyril Coptic Orthodox Church in Chantilly, which was started in 2014, is in the process of trying to secure a location to build a permanent home for its congregation.

As reported by the Loudoun Times-Mirror, the church received initial approval from a local Planning Commission to build its new site in the town of Aldie in the largely undeveloped western Loudoun County, which is about 15 miles west of Chantilly and is one of the fastest growing areas in the Washington, D.C. suburbs.

The church’s proposal to build a new facility on 10 acres of land off Old Carolina Road was approved by a 7-1 commission vote last Wednesday. The issue will go before the county’s board of supervisors in July for a final vote on the building’s approval.

Despite the overwhelming support of the commission, the church’s plans have drawn the ire of local residents.

“We believe the facility as proposed is incompatible with our community and should…

New home for Newport church devastated by fire

The congregation will gather at nearby Havelock Street Presbyterian Church for “the foreseeable future.”

It’ll meet at a new time of 3pm.

Plans to develop the now burnt down building have been withdrawn as the council confirmed part of the church will need to be demolished to make the building safe.

Speaking on Premier’s News Hour earlier this week, Bethel’s pastor Andrew Cleverley said as a church, they’re remaining hopeful for the future.

“That verse from Romans says that all things work together for good for those that trust the Lord,” he said. “And when we say we ‘all’ we mean the good and the bad and so we believe that even what the enemy meant for evil God can turn it to our good and we celebrated and worshipped yesterday with all the community.”

In a Facebook post this week, the church revealed the whole building was hit except for the prayer room.
