The Trump-Kim summit: 2 biblical imperatives

The much-anticipated summit between President Trump and Kim Jong Un is dominating global headlines this morning. The summit will be the first meeting between a sitting US president and a head of North Korea.

Their meeting is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. ET, which is 9 a.m. Tuesday in Singapore. It will take place at the Capella Hotel on the resort island of Sentosa, off Singapore’s southern coast. More than a thousand journalists from around the world have converged on Singapore.

What will happen at the summit?

BBC News reports this morning that Mr. Kim wants to focus on rebuilding the North Korean economy and thus seeks sanctions relief and international investment. The Trump administration has made clear its focus on denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula, with a timeline and technical details for dismantling weapons and weapons-making capabilities.

The two leaders could announce an agreement to work toward the “common goal” of removing nuclear weapons, mirroring the announcement that followed Mr. Kim’s meeting with South Korea’s president in April. It is also possible that they will sign documents officially ending the Korean War, which ceased in 1953 with an armistice but no peace treaty.

Presidential counselor Kellyanne Conway told reporters last week that “there could be more than one meeting, more than one conversation” between the two. Today’s Washington Post quotes South Korea’s president, who states that negotiations “could take one year, two years or even longer.” However, Mr. Trump is also reportedly willing to end the meeting quickly if it does not go well.

(For more on the Korean conflict, see my North Korea: What Christians Need to Know.)

How can we be on God’s side?

In The Words Lincoln Lived By, Gene Griessman tells of a time during the Civil War when a group of clergymen met with President Lincoln. One of them commented, “I hope the Lord is on our side.”

Lincoln replied, “I am not at all concerned about…

Asylum-seeking Christian family fear death if forced to leave UK after six years

Maqsood Bakhsh fled Pakistan in 2012 with his wife Parveen and their sons Somer and Areebs, then aged nine and seven, after Islamic extremists threatened to kill him because of his religious beliefs.

The catalyst was the murder of two Christians shot outside a court, while in police custody, in Faisalabad two years previously.

Pastor Rashid Emmanuel, 32, and Sajid, 24, were accused of writing a pamphlet critical of the Prophet Muhammad that flouted Pakistan’s controversial blasphemy law, which carries the death penalty.

Mr Bakhsh, 50, claims the people responsible for the deaths believe he is in league with the two men and would kill him and his family if they had the chance.

The Home Office has repeatedly rejected their asylum applications, largely as officials do not believe they would be at risk in Pakistan.

The family, who live in the north of Glasgow, have now been told they have exhausted the process and have no right to appeal, but plan to launch a legal challenge.

Mr Bakhsh said: “Prime Minister, please help us because I do not understand why the Home Office keep rejecting us.

“They keep telling us that some parts of Pakistan are safe for Christians.

“It is true that lots of Christians live in Pakistan but once you have been targeted by Islamic extremists who know your name and your face, it is impossible to live.

“Four of my friends have been killed by Islamic…

Future Church: Five Developments on the Horizon

I have a pretty good track record of seeing the future of churches in America. I hope I am not making such a statement out of arrogance or delusion.

The reality is I am able to see some of the future developments because I hear from so many churches in the present. According to our estimates, we hear from about 250,000 different congregations each year. That’s about two out of three Protestant congregations in America.

So, I’m really not that smart. I just have the blessing of hearing from incredible church leaders and members every single day. In that light, I see five major developments on the horizon.

  1. Shifts in the multisite model. The multisite congregation is the single most profound change in American congregations in the past century. That’s a profound statement, but I really see it. Though I don’t have the objective data yet, I anecdotally see that a multisite church is more likely to be healthy than a single-site church. I will expand on that issue in my post a week from today. For now, watch the multisite church on a number of fronts. For example, I really see the multisite church becoming the catalyst for the recovery and revitalization of neighborhood churches.
  2. More churches seeking to be acquired or merged into a multisite system. A corollary of the first development is the proactive posture of churches seeking to be acquired. More church leaders see the health of multisite models. They thus desire to be a part of a healthy system rather than remain a struggling single-site…

God saved me from joining a gang

Panama’s Luis Tejada also said his aunt received a vision from God that her nephew would score an impressive overheard kick at the tournament in Russia.

The 36-year-old strike described growing up in neighbourhoods of Panama City which were blighted by gangs and gun crime.

He told TVN Panama: “Sometimes I stop to think: the only things that never stop are time and the wind.

“I don’t know if I would be dead, [without football], if I would have been in a gang, or if I would have ended up doing some good.

“For this reason, I thank God that he grabbed me in time and took control of me.”

Tejada, who first played for his national football team in 2001, is due to retire after the World Cup.

Referring to Panama’s failure to reach the competition in 2014, he continued: “When the US beat us and we didn’t qualify for the World Cup, I told my mother I would happily give away all the titles I’ve won in exchange for God to give us another chance.

“Now, He has done that. For me, that is the biggest success in my career.”

He added: “I would swap every goal I’ve scored for just one in…

Walking in Financial Dominion! By David Oyedepo

Topic: Walking in financial dominion!

Welcome to June! I believe we must have had some definite encounters with the wisdom from above all through the month of May 2018. I also believe that God must have listed many of us among the highflyers of His Kingdom through diverse encounters with the Word. This month we shall examine how to be blessed and also be a blessing. However, this week, we shall focus on Walking in Financial Dominion!

We discover from scriptures, among others, that every child of God is ordained to walk in financial dominion. As it is written: For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich (2 Corinthians 8:9; see also Deuteronomy 8:18; 3 John 1:2). It is important to note that the end-time church is ordained for financial dominion. As it is written: And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem (Isaiah 2:2-3). In addition, according to Haggai, God will be unleashing financial fortune upon the end time church. It is also written: The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts. The glory of this latter house (end time church) shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts… (Haggai 2:8-9). Furthermore, God swore to Abraham, in response to the attempted sacrifice of his son on mount Moriah: That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which [is] upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies; And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice (Genesis 22:17-18). If, according to scriptures, every child of God is a seed of Abraham; then, we are ordained to walk in financial dominion (Galatians 3:29).

Finally, prominent among the blessings of the law is financial dominion. As it is written: …and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow. And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath… (Deuteronomy 28:12-13).

How then can we walk in Financial Dominion?

Be Born Again: Every blessing in the Kingdom can only flow to us when we are saved. In other words, the salvation of our souls is the access key to the realm of financial dominion. The Bible says that Christ was slain to receive for us power, riches, wisdom, strength, honour, glory and blessing (Revelation 5:12).

Engage the Covenant of Seedtime and Harvest: The covenant of Seedtime and Harvest is a sure way to our financial dominion. The Scripture says: …He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: 2 Corinthians 9:6-8; Genesis 8:20-22, 2 Corinthians 9:6-8; Philippians 4:15-19). From the scripture above, giving is the biblical gateway to financial dominion (Acts 20: 35; Luke 6:38). That is why we must not see our giving and offerings as financial donations to the church, but as spiritual transactions for provoking divine supplies among others (2 Corinthians 9: 6-8,11; Philippians 4:19). However, it is important to understand that the Kingdom of God is that of order. Thus, in order to enjoy financial blessings, our offerings must be sown in this order.

Tithing: This is the giving of 10 percent of the totality of our earnings to God which is the master key to a world of financial fortune. This does not belong to us; it is God’s portion which He must not be denied of (Malachi 3:10). We must understand that any sacrifice can bring us to any level of blessing, but only our tithes can preserve it.

Worship Offering: We are admonished not to come into God’s presence empty-handed. It is written: …and they shall not appear before the Lord empty: Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord thy God which he hath given thee (Deuteronomy 16:16-17).

Kingdom Promotion Giving: This is giving for the furtherance of the Kingdom. The Bible says: Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you (Matthew 6:33; see also Haggai 1:3-14).

Giving to Biological Parents: The Word of God instructs us to honour our parents in the Lord that it might be well with us; financial blessing inclusive. When we do, we provoke the release of blessings from their hearts like Isaac poured his heart out to bless Jacob (Genesis 27:3/ 25-29; Exodus 20:12).

In conclusion, Christ, our perfect example was and is the Master Giver. He gave and gave until He gave His life; a living sacrifice indeed! This must be why He commanded such a dimension of financial dominion while he walked the planet earth (Matthew 17:26-27; Mark 4:39-41, 14:13-16; John 13:27-29). However, as mentioned earlier, new birth is the only access we have to walking in financial dominion.

Are you born again? If you are not, this is an opportunity to do so. Simply say the following prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Today, I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now I know I am born again!”

Relishing Marital Harmony (Part 1) by Pastor Faith Oyedepo

Topic: Relishing Marital Harmony (1)

Dear Reader,

You are welcome to another wonder-filled month; where God will be granting you unlimited testimonies in all of your endeavours. We have gone through several amazing topics since the year began, and if you have been following through, you should have learnt one or two things that have transformed your family to a home of bliss, love and joy. Throughout this month, we shall be exploring another exciting topic: Relishing Marital Harmony’.

The Bible says:Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh (Genesis 2:24). This is not talking about the physical joining of a man and a woman together with a robe; it is simply referring to harmony, oneness, agreement and unity in the home. In securing marital harmony, no matter the difference in culture or cultural rules, the Word of God is the universal guide to establishing true and lasting marital harmony.

The issue of marital harmony is so important because, it does not appeal to the couples alone, but the Church of Jesus Christ because it is made up of families and your children’s future at large.Harmony enjoyed at home affects all aspect of one’s life, finance, career, business, health etc. To enjoy marital harmony therefore, we must first understand the family unit, it’s foundation, component and role in our day-to-day life.

Understanding the Family Unit
The word “family” in the Longman’s Dictionary of contemporary English means: a group of people who are closely related to each other, especially mother, father, and their children representing the nuclear family. There is also, however, the extended family set up, which include aunties, uncles, grandparents, distant relations, etc.

I want you to know that everyone on earth, male or female, married or single, no matter your status, you belong to a specific family on earth. God has sent you into this world through that family for a purpose and it shall be fulfilled!

Many families around the world today are suffering from disharmony. Many families are going through a lot of tension, many home both in the church and in the world are going through a sort of disharmony and this has resulted in separation, divorce and abuse of all kinds; namely, frustration, infidelity etc.

There are homes where peace is short-lived; children from these homes seek every means to be far away from their homes, because a moment at home brings heartache. There are some other couples that the remembrance of their marriages makes them to shed tears. Whatever tears you shed in the past, as you are going through this article right now, I see God wiping them away!

The Foundation
The foundation for securing marital harmony is in your personal relationship with God. He is the author of marriage; the One who founded the family. So, the starting point to your success in family life is to build a firm relationship with God. Your relationship with the Almighty Father will affect and determine your relationship in your marriage. The Bible says:If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?(Psalm 11:3)

Developing and maintaining a strong relationship with God requires time, effort and the desire for closeness, just as relationships with other people take work and devotion. You need a personal encounter with God to strengthen the quality of your relationship with your family.

God is the only source of true and lasting relationship. When you allow Him to enter into your ship, it will never sink. If you are still singles, then you must know that it is the will of God that you enjoy a sweet home. However, it is very important to know that, your true and lasting satisfaction, joy and fulfillment in life is rooted in your relationship with the Almighty God. A good understanding of this will help you to walk in life with confidence.

I want you to know that your spouse is not your source of joy. God is the only source of joy. If you understand this, you will be ready to walk by the Word of God to secure marital harmony. If you know this, that God is the only source of joy, happiness and contentment in the family, you will know that changing spouse like changing clothes is not the solution to your contentment in the family. Looking for the latest models in town will never bring you contentment. God is the source!

Your problem today, may be oh! My husband is not good, I will look for another one, my wife is not good, I will get a better one and maybe you are even contemplating of divorce, as you are reading this material right now, the light of God will come on you and God will restore dignity to your marriage. Stop that divorce plan as it is not the solution. It is your relationship with God that makes all the difference for you to make progress in your family life. Whatever has caused you heartache and tears before, your relationship with God will cause a change and you shall have harmony in your family.

Marital harmony is a possibility, but not a gift. You have a responsibility for securing marital harmony. Bishop David Oyedepo, whom I am privilege to be married to, said” Faith that makes God absolutely responsible for the events of your life is an irresponsible faith”. You have a part to play!

You want to be born again to enjoy harmony in your home? God is the only true source of joy. Allow God to come into your life so you can have a relationship with God. You can say this prayer of faith:

You need wisdom to build your home and God is the source of that wisdom. If, peradventure, you are not born again and you want to accept Jesus as your Lord and personal Saviour, then say this prayer in faith: Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for delivering me from sin and satan to serve the living God and thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.

Congratulations! If you prayed this simple prayer of faith with me, you are now born again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave you. Read your Bible daily, obey God’s Word and seek Christian fellowship (John 14:21).

The Power Of Divine Favour – By David Ibiyeomie

Topic: The Power Of Divine Favour

Eccl.9:4 – For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion.

Your case is not hopeless and one hour is too much for God to change your story and that will be your testimony in the name of Jesus!

Favour is part of life. Man was created to enjoy favour and not to endure. Favour is special preference or privilege that gives someone an advantage over others. Scripturally, favour is all about the kindness of God.

Psalm 31:21 -Blessed be the Lord: for he hath shewed me his marvelous kindness in a strong city.

Divine favour is God’s countenance shining upon someone. That will be your testimony from now! No matter the crowd, God’s favour will single you out in the name of Jesus! The favour of God will distinguish you wherever you go from today in Jesus name!

Divine favour is above human favour because whatever is from above is above all. The moment a man has divine favour, it promotes the favour of men.

Psalm 44:3 -For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.

You are the next in line for divine favour! The above scripture will find express manifestation in your life! The favour of God will locate you today and you will not struggle anymore in the name of Jesus!

Luke 2:52 -And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

When God favours you, men must favour you including those who don’t like you because it is divine favour that provokes the favour of men. All-round favour is provoked by divine favour. From this day, may the favour of God locate you wherever you go! North, South, East and West, you will be highly favoured! Every document bearing your name shall be smelling favour in Jesus name!

Deut.7:6, 14 -For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. 14 Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle.

Divine favour is your heritage in Christ as a child of God.

Psalm 16:6 – The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.

Psalm 5:12 -For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.

From now, you will be known as A.K.A FAVOUR! You will be wearing favour as perfume! Begin to enjoy your heritage from now! May the God that called me shine His countenance on you and favour you always in Jesus mighty name –Amen!

God bless you

Joyce Meyer’s Daily 11 June 2018 Devotional — It’s Time to Stretch

Topic: It’s Time to Stretch [Joyce Meyer’s Devotional Monday June 11, 2018]

For let him who wants to enjoy life and see good days [good—whether apparent or not] keep his tongue free from evil and his lips from guile (treachery, deceit). Let him turn away from wickedness and shun it, and let him do right. Let him search for peace…and seek it eagerly…. — 1 Peter 3:10-11 (AMPC)

Stretch means “extended; exerted to the utmost.” When you follow God into something new in your life, you may feel stretched.

Perhaps you receive a job promotion, and you know you don’t have all the natural skills and knowledge you need to do the new job well. Then you become worried because you think you’re in over your head. The job may be over your head, but it’s not bigger than God. If He leads you into it, He will help you fulfill the responsibilities that go with it. God’s power and presence enable us to do things we can’t do on our own.

It’s important to remember God is on your side as you go into new situations, because fear and doubt will always be lying in wait to try to keep you from following Him. Don’t let those things hold you back. Remember that God is with you and He’s bigger than any problem you may face. Don’t be afraid to stretch your faith because it will give you greater capacity to fulfill your God-given potential.

Prayer Starter: Father, help me to lean on You and walk forward with faith when I feel “over my head.” Help me to stretch and be all that I can be in You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Andrew Wommack’s Devotional 11 June 2018 – Rebirth

Topic: Rebirth [Andrew Wommack Monday June 11, 2018]

John 7:19 “Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me?”

Text: John 7:16-19

These Jews prided themselves on their observance of the law, but they were keeping the letter of the law and missing its true intent. The greatest of all the Old Testament laws was to love God and then to love your neighbor as yourself. The Jews were violating these laws by having hatred in their hearts toward Jesus and wanting to kill Him. They denied that they desired to kill Him, but the scriptures declare that they had already plotted or tried to kill Him three times.

They also knew much about God. It was required of the Jewish men to memorize large portions of the Torah (the first five books of the Bible). Their whole society revolved around God’s moral standards and countless religious observances. However, they did not know God.

There is a difference between knowing about someone and really knowing them. Likewise today, millions of people are acquainted with knowledge about Jesus. They may even be moral and observe religious ceremonies, but if they don’t personally experience knowing Jesus, they are not saved and will not make it to heaven. Even the devils believe and tremble but they aren’t saved.

Our spiritual man became dead unto (separated from) God through sin. Just as we didn’t accomplish our physical birth, we cannot produce this spiritual rebirth. We are totally incapable of saving ourselves, therefore, we need a Savior. We simply believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and we are saved.

Salvation is not a reformation, but rather a regeneration, a new birth, a new creation, that can only be accomplished by a creative miracle of the Holy Spirit. You must be born again.
