Archbishop Justin Welby criticised over praise for EU
Speaking during a visit to church leaders in Serbia – a country currently applying for EU membership – Rt Rev Justin Welby also claimed the bloc had improved life for poorer families.
Alluding to the overthrow of Emperor Romulus in the 5th century, he said: “The EU has been the greatest dream realised for human beings since the fall of the Western Roman Empire.
“It has brought peace, prosperity, compassion for the poor and weak, purpose for the aspirational and hope for all its people.
He prompted a backlash from Eurosceptic figures, including former leader of UKIP Nigel Farage who branded the remarks “delusional”.
David Jones MP, formerly of the Department for Exiting the European Union was quoted by The Times as saying the comments show how the Church of England (CofE) is “out of touch” with popular thinking.
The representative for Clwyd West added: “The European Union is not democratic – it is the world’s great bureaucracy, it is governed by unelected commissioners.
“If he thinks this is utopia, then he has a very different view of most Britons.”

He was despised and rejected and forsaken by men, a Man of sorrows and pains, and acquainted with grief and sickness…. — Isaiah 53:3 (AMPC)
We will never enjoy life unless we make a quality decision to do so. Satan is an expert at stealing and our joy is one of his favorite targets. Nehemiah 8:10 tells us that the joy of the Lord is our strength. In John 10:10 we are told that “the thief ” comes to kill, steal, and destroy, but that Jesus came that we might have and enjoy life. Satan is the thief, and one of the things he seeks to steal is our joy. If he can steal our joy from us, we will be weak; and when we are weak, the enemy takes advantage of us.
Weak believers are no threat to him and his work of destruction. In order to live as God intends for us to live, the first thing we must do is truly believe that it is God’s will for us to experience continual joy. Then we must decide to enter into that joy.
Experiencing enjoyment in our souls is vitally important to our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. Proverbs 17:22 (AMPC) says, A happy heart is good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing, but a broken spirit dries up the bones. It is God’s will for us to enjoy life! Now it is time to decide to enter into the full and abundant life that God wills for us.
Joy and enjoyment are available just as misery is available. Righteousness and peace are available and so are condemnation and turmoil. There are blessings and curses available, and that is why Deuteronomy 30:19 tells us to choose life and blessings.
Prayer Starter: Father, help me to enjoy this day to the fullest—help me to “choose life” and make the most of what You have given me. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Topic: The Power Of God’s Love
Eph. 3:17-19 -That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.
When you are rooted and grounded in the love of God, you become a grand commander over the affairs of life; the result and effect you will have will surpass all the knowledge of man because you will be filled with the fullness of God.
When the love of God burns in your life, it puts you above all the situations and circumstances of life. When God occupies the centre of your life, you have central command over the issues of life.
1Cor. 2:9-10 -But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
The impact of the love of God cannot be scientifically analyzed.
In Matt. 22:36-40, a young ruler asked Jesus about the greatest commandment of the law and Jesus responded that it is love for God and humanity.
Matt. 22:37-40 -Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
The love of God in your heart is the fulfilling of the law.
Rom.13:8,10 – Owe no man anything, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
When the law is fulfilled, supernatural breakthroughs become the proof. When you fulfil the law, you commit God to your unlimited breakthrough and love is the fulfilling of the law. Therefore, when the law is fulfilled, Deut.28:1-14 comes to play in your life because fulfilling the law is your entrance to those blessings.
That is how powerful the mystery of the love of God in a man’s life can be. Until you discover the love of God, you have not discovered the secret of fulfillment. As you discover and the engage in the love of God, you will be ushered into a world of fulfillment of promises.

FIRE SCRIPTURE: 1 Samuel 18:1-4
MEMORY VERSE: “A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.” – Proverbs 17:17
The MESSAGE:
Friendship can be said to be a relationship between two people that really care about each other. A very good friend is the first person you call when there is good news and also the first person to alert when there is danger. Ecclesiastes 4:9-11 paints a good picture of the benefits inherent in friendship. It says, “Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. Again, if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone?”
David had two conspicuous friends, one at the beginning of his fame whose name was Jonathan, a warrior, the son and heir apparent to the first king of Israel. The Bible makes us to understand that, the soul of Jonathan was knitted to the soul of David. Hence, he tried as much as possible to protect David and was not envious. Unfortunately, Jonathan died. Your heaven sent friend will not die suddenly, in Jesus’ name.
David also had another friend who was a counsellor. He spoke like an oracle, his counsel seemingly stood valid like those from the mind of God and his name was Ahithophel. David believed Ahithophel to be faithful and upright. He later realised that he had an enemy for a friend. 2 Samuel 15:12 reads thus, “And Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David’s counsellor, from his city, even from Giloh, while he offered sacrifices. And the conspiracy was strong; for the people increased continually with Absalom.” Ahithophel, David’s supposed friend, soon allied himself with the King’s son to take away the throne from him. Any conspiracy of your enemy with a so-called friend of yours shall scatter, in the name of Jesus.
Who is your friend? Is he/she ready to put up with you while you’re around or is he ready to become the enemy when you are not there? If your friends are like leaves on a tree that have to be shed off because they’ve over stayed their use, shed them off. These types of friends are there to take whatever they need and as soon as it gets cold or the wind blows in your life, they are gone.
Some friends could also be likened to branches of a tree; they are a little bit better than the first set because as a branch, they are stronger than the leaves. But you still need to exercise care with them as they can ditch you in heavy tide, when their help is really paramount. Some friends are like the root of a tree. They are available at all times: during harsh periods and pleasant ones. During awful storms, they are present to uphold you. You can only find such a friend in Christ. No matter who your friends are on earth, they can still disappoint you. The very best of man can still be found wanting. The only friend that you can trust and depend on at all times is Jesus Christ. I counsel you to seek Jesus today. In Him you can find a faithful, dependable and reliable friend that your soul desires. However, there is no other friend like Jesus, develop your intimate relationship with Him and it shall be well with you.
MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
There is no friend greater than He who laid down His life for His friend.

Every unfriendly friend in your life shall be separated from you by fire.

1. O Lord my Father, separate me from unfriendly friends, in the name of Jesus.

MESSAGE:
Music is one of the most powerful element of the universe. God loves music so much that He created an archangel specifically in charge of music in Heaven. The Bible records that God made all His creations with the ability to create music. 1 Chronicle 16:33 says that “…the trees of the wood sing out at the presence of the Lord…” Isaiah 44:23 says “…break forth into singing, ye mountains, and every tree therein:…” Even God Himself sings, Zephaniah 3:17b says “…He will rest in His love, He will joy over thee with singing.”
Going by these, we see that music existed before the creation of man and it is a completely spiritual affair; if you still don’t believe this, ask King Saul how tormenting spirits left him at the sound of David’s music. Whenever music plays, spirits are summoned. The kind of music will determine the kind of spirit that is invoked. Do you know that wherever worldly music is played, evil spirit visit the place? So imagine when you play worldly music and plug the earphones straight into your ears. Do you know that anyone who dances or sings along to worldly music is paying obeisance to the spirit behind the music? Watch the music you listen to.
Key Point: The kinds of music you listen to will determine the kinds of spirits that will always be around you.

Matthew 18:10 “Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.”
Text: Matthew 18:10-11
We have angels assigned to us. Hebrews 1:14 further reveals that their purpose is to minister to us (i.e. on our behalf). In the Old Testament, Psalm 91 teaches on the ministry of angels to God’s people.
Some have realized this truth and have taken it even further to say that we are supposed to speak to our angels and they will obey our commands. There is no instruction in scripture to do this nor is there any example of it being done. Many of the angels’ protective duties described in Psalm 91 are preventative, and we certainly could not effectively command these activities.
Rather, these angels are dispatched exactly as this verse describes – by looking at the Father’s face. God Almighty controls them for us; however, we do have a part to play. In Psalm 91 it is those who dwell in the secret place of the Most High, that are able to benefit from angelic activity (v. 1). Verse 2 further instructs us to say that the Lord is our refuge and fortress and that we are trusting in Him.
It is the combination of our faith in God and His faithfulness to us that releases the angels on our behalf. If it was solely up to God, His provision would be the same for everyone because of His mercy and grace. However, we have to receive God’s grace by faith (Eph. 2:8). As you seek the Lord, become aware of His ministering spirits which were created to minister for us, and speak forth your faith in this area, He will send forth His angels on your behalf.

It takes no poll for those of us who have communicated with young people to know the devastation that permissive sexual activity generally causes. It becomes a cancer in the bodies and minds and characters of those who indulge, almost without exception. And there are other victims, such innocent bystanders as parents, grandparents, old family friends, teachers, and advisers, all much more concerned than you can understand. They want only the best for you. Anything less than a happy marital voyage gives them pain. The wisdom of their years says that premarital relations are always a mistake.
The Bible teaches that God created sex. He made “male and female.” Then it says, “God saw every thing that He had made, and behold, it was very good.” This included the natural sexual attraction between the man and woman He had created. Therefore, sex is not sin! It is God’s gift to the human race. It is for procreation; for enjoyment within the bonds of matrimony; for the fulfillment of married love.
Prayer for the day: All the gifts You have given us are to be enjoyed, within the structure of Your commandments, heavenly Father. Keep me always conscious of Your teachings.

Read: Nehemiah 3:1–12, Bible in a Year: 2 Chronicles 25–27; John 16
Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor. Ecclesiastes 4:9
In ancient times, a city with broken walls revealed a defeated people, exposed to danger and shame. That is why the Jews rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem. How? By working side by side, an expression that can well describe Nehemiah 3.
At first glance, chapter 3 might appear to be a boring account of who did what in the reconstruction. However, a closer look highlights how people worked together. Priests were working alongside rulers. Perfume-makers were helping as well as goldsmiths. There were some who lived in nearby towns and came to give a hand. Others made repairs opposite their houses. Shallum’s daughters, for example, worked alongside the men (3:12), and some people repaired two sections, like the men of Tekoa (vv. 5, 27).
Two things stand out from this chapter. First, they all worked together for a common goal. Second, all of them are commended for being part of the work, not for how much or little they did as compared to others.
Today we see damaged families and a broken society. But Jesus came to build the kingdom of God through the transformation of lives. We can help to rebuild our neighborhoods by showing others they can find hope and new life in Jesus. All of us have something to do. So let us work side by side and do our part—whether big or small—to create a community of love where people can find Jesus.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to work with others, side by side, by showing love and pointing others to Jesus.
Let’s work together to build the kingdom of God.

Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession [or confession], Christ Jesus. – Hebrews 3:1
Very few believers today understand the mystery of the apostleship and priesthood of Jesus. We think that an apostle is some kind of supersaint. But apostle actually means “sent one.” So, Jesus has been sent from God to do something for us.
He’s been sent to serve as our High Priest. Again, many believers don’t have the first idea what a high priest does. They picture a person walking around in strange clothes performing religious rituals.
In reality, a high priest is much more than that. He is one who is authorized to administer, to execute, to implement and to carry into effect. Now, you may wonder what it is that Jesus is authorized to administer, execute or carry out on your behalf. Hebrews 3:1 says that Jesus is the High Priest of our confession. He’s been sent to put into effect, to execute, to carry out the words that you say.
But, chances are, you’ve been speaking what you feel, instead of speaking words of faith. If, for example, you’re speaking sickness, what’s He going to do with that? He’s not High Priest over sickness. He can’t execute that. If you’re saying, “I’m so weak, I’m so tired,” He can’t carry that out. The Bible says, “Let the weak say, I am strong!” The minute you say that, Jesus can administer strength.
Jesus is not going to administer sickness or disease or poverty or sin. He’s defeated all that. He is High Priest over deliverance and righteousness and freedom.
Consider that. Then as you come before Jesus, don’t speak words of defeat. Speak words He can implement—words of victory. That’s what He’s been ordained by God to bring to pass in your life.
