US bishop Michael Curry given starring role in BGT Final

The American bishop’s 14-minute, passionate address entitled The Power of Love was the most tweeted-about moment of the day of the royal wedding, according to Twitter.

In the video that began the ITV show’s finale, Bishop Curry said: “Hello Britain’s Got Talent. It is a joy to bring you these greetings, to all of the contestants, to the judges, to the audience, to all who make this possible.

“Thank you for what you are doing, thank you to the contestants who offer yourselves and share your talent and your gifts with the rest of us, you actually help to bring some joy and happiness.

“So, thank you, God bless you, God keep you and may God hold us all in those almighty hands of love.”

The contest was won by comedian Lost Voice Guy, who pocketed £250,000 and won a spot at The Royal Variety Performance.

The funnyman, who has cerebral palsy and uses pre-recorded sentences on a computer for his stand-up act, dazzled the audience and judges with his hilarious routine in the grand final, which saw him poke fun at his disability.

He said as his win was announced: “I have been blown away by the support of the judges and the general public.”

The comic, whose name is Lee Ridley, said he was “really grateful” for all the love he had received.

Berlin police shoot man waving knife inside cathedral

There was no indication the man’s actions were linked to terrorism, Berlin police spokesman Winfrid Wenzel said.

The dpa news agency quoted police as saying the man appeared to be confused.

Mr Wenzel said the incident began when the man entered the Berliner Dom and waved a knife in the area of the altar.

Cathedral employees called police and dozens of people were evacuated from the holy site.

One of the two officers responding to the call opened fire, wounding the man, Mr Wenzel said.

The second officer was inadvertently wounded by the shot or shots fired by his colleague, Berlin police said.

Both the suspect and the police officer were taken to hospital. Dpa said the officer is in serious condition.

The area around the cathedral is typically crowded with tourists and visitors, particularly on Sunday. A Sunday evening prayer service at the church was cancelled.

What I Must Change – ThomRainer.com

Certainly, this post was at least partly prompted by the incredible number of sad, tragic, and horrific events in my denomination.

For sure, the brutal reality of the calendar and my impending 63rd birthday caused me to pause and write this public missive.

But more, far more, has been the conviction of God’s Spirit in my life. While I have been prone to judge the fallen and the offenders in the melodrama of my denomination, God has reminded me again how fallen I am, how sinful I am, and how I am unworthy to cast the first stone.

It is perhaps for accountability, and perhaps for confession, that I write about changes I must make.

  • I must change and be more obedient in sharing the gospel. I exhort others to do so, but I am disobedient far too much myself.
  • I must change and increase my time in the Word and in prayer. Too often, I let the tyranny of the urgent replace the priority of time with God. If I sound foolish, it is because I am, and because I have been.
  • I must change how I seek my identity. My identity should be first in Christ. And my identity should also be as a family man. My greatest titles are “husband,” “Dad,” and “Rad Rad,” not “CEO” or “Dr. Rainer.” Too often I seek the accolades of others instead of pleasing Christ and serving my family.
  • I must change the depth and breadth of how I love my local church. I must serve with greater joy, give with greater commitment, and worship with greater abandon.
  • I must change my involvement in denominational politics. Indeed,…

Joyce Meyer’s Daily 4 June 2018 Devotional — It Doesn’t Take Much

Topic: It Doesn’t Take Much [Joyce Meyer’s Devotional Monday June 4, 2018]

Let me know Your ways, O Lord; teach me Your paths. — Psalm 25:4

One of the many reasons I love God’s Word is that it is full of little things we can do to bless, encourage, and strengthen one another—things that don’t take much time or cost much money. Here are some of the acts of kindness the Bible says we can and should do for one another:

Watch over one another
Pray for one another
Look for kindnesses we can express to others
Be friendly and hospitable
Be patient with one another
Bear with others’ faults and weaknesses
Give others the benefit of the doubt
Encourage one another
Be loyal to one another
Be happy for people when they are blessed
Keep people’s secrets and don’t tell their faults
Believe the best of one another

The ideas listed here are relatively simple things we all can do if we are willing. We don’t have to make special plans for most of them, but can do them throughout the day as we have opportunities.

Prayer Starter: Father, help me to truly love other people today—with my thoughts, attitudes and actions. allow others to see Your love and kindness through me. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Change Your World – By David Ibiyeomie

Topic: Change Your World

We are in the days where honesty, integrity and character is fast disappearing. We are in a world where values are being eroded. The world is awaiting people of godly character to change her. To change your world you must be a person with an excellent reputation.

You don’t wait for change; you accept responsibility to effect change. Refusing to accept responsibility is to remain a liability in life. It is only those who are willing to pay the price that will ever win the prize. The moment you change, you take charge and if you refuse to change, you remain in chains.

Matt. 5:13 -Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

Salt preserves and God said without you, there will be decadence in the world. Your effect should be in the world. If the salt has lost its value, it will be good for nothing. Therefore, if a believer loses his taste, he is a waste.

Matt. 5:14 – Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

Light gives illumination and a guide in the midst of darkness. Therefore, you are supposed to be a trail-blazer because you are a light. You are supposed to be a path-finder and a pace-setter. From today, you will not be in the obscurity any more in Jesus name!

People should see your effect and follow you. The moment a believer do not have that effect in the world, he is no longer useful. The entire world should follow how you do things and succeed. After now, that is what your testimony will be!

You are not the light of the church; you are the light of the world. You are to take the light from the church and go to the world and shine there for the world to see your effect and then come to the church.

Matt. 5:16 -Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

The world supposed to see you and know that truly there is a difference between you and them. After now, you will bring a revolution to your world in Jesus name! You will take your world by storm! There will be a revolution in your life that will shake your world in Jesus name!

If you want to change your world, you must pay the price because without the price, you cannot win the prize. To be a world changer, you must first of all change yourself by changing your character. You cannot change others if you have not changed yourself.

Change begins with you changing. Until there is a change on your inside, there cannot be a change around you. There has to be a change on your inside first before you can effect changes around you.

Change does not take place by changing location, nationality or church; no, change takes place when you change. Nothing can ever change until you change. Change is not moving to a new location because an Alligator cannot change to a Crocodile no matter the change of location.

So, it is not the nation; it is the person. It is a changed man that changes the world. It is your change that can determine the extent to which you can change others. There cannot be a change until there is a change in your character because character is the real you and the foundation for success.

God bless you

TREM Devotional 4 June 2018 by Dr. Mike Okonkwo – How Can This Be?

Topic: How Can This Be? [TREM Devotional Monday June 4, 2018]

“Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?” Isaiah 53:1

The reason why it seems as if God’s Word is not productive in the lives of believers is because we try to rationalize it with our senses. We try to understand it with our human mind; we want it to appeal to our logic, forgetting that God does not operate at the same level with us. Isaiah 55:8-9 tells us that His ways are higher, and His thoughts are higher; and so you cannot reason it out, your assignment is to believe it.

Child of God, in order to experience the promises of God, you must stop using head knowledge, believe what God has said concerning you, because God’s Word rules over circumstances and situations; it is superior! The prophet Isaiah made it clear in our text that the arm of the Lord is revealed to those who believe. You want to see God at work, then believe Him.

2 Kings 6, tells us that there was severe famine in the land of Samaria, in fact the famine was so severe that people were eating up themselves; humanly speaking there was no way out of this siege. Here comes Prophet Elisha in chapter 7, with a word from the Lord, that there was going to be abundance; and this prophecy wasn’t given with a timeline of two or three years, but for the very next day. It seemed impossible, because even if they had to plant crops the same day the prophecy was given, and there was a heavy downpour all night, the crops wouldn’t have sprouted, let alone be ready for harvest. This human/agricultural impossibility caused an officer in the King’s palace to exclaim “Could this thing be?” But because the Word of God had gone forth, it came to pass.

The Word of God will always prosper, you can stake your life on it. Hold on to that Word, and it will manifest.

MFM Mountain Top Life Daily Devotional Monday, 4 June 2018 – No For Answer

TOPIC: No For Answer (Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries Monday, 4 June 2018)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Genesis 39:7-10

MEMORY VERSE: “My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.” Proverbs 1:10

The MESSAGE:

Many years back, when in primary school in the western part of Nigeria, our teacher taught us a roll call song that went thus: “Wherever you be, do not say yes when you mean to say no.” In today’s text, Joseph was the second-in-command in the house of Potiphar, his master, and was given all the paraphernalia of power to operate. Nonetheless, when the temptation came to say NO to Potiphar’s wife’s immoral desire, he did not waste time to say no. This singular choice of Joseph though caused him momentary displeasure, he gained eternal favour from God his creator who provided a way of escape for him from the prison where he was kept.

A portion in the Lord’s Prayer (Luke 6:4b) says, “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” However, when temptation comes in the form of Potiphar’s wife, you should not hesitate to say NO. Your uncompromising stance will vindicate you. Don’t yield to temptation, for yielding is sin says a hymn writer. Do not entertain “What would she do if I say no?” Should I just go ahead and follow the orders of my boss’s wife?” If you do, you may be lured into sin which may change the cause of your destiny forever.

Today’s Fire Scripture says, “She spoke to Joseph day by day” which means temptation speaks to you on a daily basis. Temptation is not only persistent but subtle and cunning in its ways. Therefore, make up your mind that just as Joseph did, you will not compromise your moral convictions and sin against God. Eventually, Joseph became a prime minister in a foreign land, a position, that the devil planned to steal from him had he consented to his enticement. Whether we believe it or not, temptation to sin will come our way. It is not a sin to be tempted, but it is a sin to yield to temptation.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
Inordinate affections are not the baits of the sly old fox. Be bold as a lion to say NO to them.

PROPHETIC WORD:
Temptation assigned to destroy your destiny shall die.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING
1. Temptation confronting my life, die, in the name of Jesus.
2. Foundational iniquity, release me by fire, in the name of Jesus.
3. Temptation shall not wound my destiny, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING
4. I shall not eat forbidden fruit, in the name of Jesus.
5. Bewitchment of sin, die by fire, in the name of Jesus.
6. Power to say No to temptation, fall on me, in the name of Jesus.
7. Slavery in my foundation, die, in the name of Jesus.

Teens Open Heavens 4 June 2018 – Scheming God Out

Topic: Scheming God Out [Teens Open Heavens 4, June 2018]

Memorise: For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. – Philippians 1:21

Read: Philippians 1:20-21 (KJV)

20 According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.

21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

Bible In One Year: 2 Chronicles 13-16, John 14

MESSAGE:

The degree of your partnership with God will determine the level of Kingdom benefits you will enjoy. However, in every partnership, there is a senior and a junior partner. Psalm 91 calls God the Most High. If you enter into partnership with Him, He will do most of the work, leaving you with very little to do. In Joshua 10:10-14, in a battle against an alliance of five kings, the enemies were about to escape when God rained hailstones on them. More people died by these heavenly missiles than by Israel’s weapons of war.

If you are in partnership with God, after you have done your bit, He will do what you cannot do and more. What type of partnership are you in with God? Do you seek His face concerning a situation only after you have used your methods and they failed you? God never forces His placement in a partnership. You are free to decide His role in that partnership. Don’t scheme Him out.

Key Point: In divine-human partnership, God allows you to determine His placement and yours. He wants to know how wise you are.

Hymn 10:

1. What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Ev’rything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Ev’rything to God in prayer!

2. Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged;
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
Can we find a Friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our ev’ry weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer!

3. Are we weak and heavy laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Saviour, still our refuge,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield You;
You wilt find a solace there.

Preliminary Results Put Right-Wing Party Ahead in Slovenia

A right-wing opposition party led by a former Slovenian prime minister won the most votes in Slovenia’s parliamentary election Sunday, but not enough to form a government on its own, according to preliminary results.

The State Election Commission said after counting some 90 percent of the ballots that Janez Jansa’s Slovenian Democratic Party received around 25 percent of the vote. The anti-establishment List of Marjan Sarec trailed in second place with over 12 percent.

The Social Democrats, the Modern Center Party of the outgoing prime minister, Miro Cerar, and the Left all received around 9 percent.

The preliminary tally means no party secured a majority in Slovenia’s 90-member parliament, and the likely next step is negotiations to form a coalition government.

Slovenia was once part of the former Yugoslavia and is the native home of U.S. first lady Melania Trump. Bordering Austria, Croatia, Hungary, Italy and a slice of the Adriatic Sea, the country joined the European Union in 2004 and has used the euro as its official currency since 2007.

Jansa, who served as prime minister during 2004-2008 and 2012-2013, said at a press conference that his party is ready for postelection talks with other parliamentary parties.

“The SDS is open for cooperation,” Jansa, using the Slovenian acronym for the party and adding that “times ahead will require cooperation.”

But postelection negotiations could keep Jansa away from another term in office, since other groups suggested they were unwilling to form a ruling alliance with him.

Jansa is an ally of Hungary’s anti-immigration…
