MFM Mountain Top Life Daily Devotional Friday, 1 June 2018 – Dare To Be A Champion

TOPIC: Dare To Be A Champion (Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries Friday, 1 June 2018)

FIRE SCRIPTURE: 1 Samuel 17:36-37

MEMORY VERSE:
“Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.” – Psalms 27:14

The MESSAGE:

The best of the army of Israel gathered at the valley of Elah and set battle array against the Philistines. The battle took another twist this time around when a “champion” from the Philistines side came out and gave conditions for winning. It was the Philistine that dictated the pace; he gave the conditions and instructions for the battle. Why? The Bible says they had a “Champion” called Goliath. In spite of the fact that all the best of Israel’s army gathered at the battle ground including Saul the king, who was taller than all of his people, none of them could challenge Goliath to a duel.

The threat of Goliath went on for forty days and forty nights before David appeared on the scene. Suddenly, Saul had someone that was ready to help him redeem his eroded image. What qualified David to become the champion that defeated the enemies? 1 Samuel 16:18 says, “…behold I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite that is cunning in playing, a mightier valiant man, a man of war, prudent in matters and lowly person, and the Lord is with him.” God was with David.

The Israelites’ soldiers gathered to battle but they lacked the courage and confidence for battle. They lacked all that was needed to be champions. They did not have the courage to step out to face Goliath. The courage those old soldiers lacked, together with the mockery Goliath made of the armies of Israel, stirred up holy anger in David who volunteered to challenge Goliath.

Beloved, who is beating the drums of war in your life? Who is in charge or controlling your life’s problems? Who is making mockery of your prayers? Philippians 2:10 says, “That at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow, of things in heaven and things in earth, and things under the earth.” All you need to do is to be bold and confident like David. Add courage to your faith and confront that Goliath supervising problems and afflictions in your life. You have the weapon to confront your Goliath and the weapon is the name of Jesus. Acknowledge Jesus as the Commander-in-Chief of your battle. Have unwavering faith in Him and just as God was with David, He will also be with you. He will declare you not only a winner but also a champion.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE:
Don’t be intimidated by counterfeit lions, be bold, courageous and stand out for Jesus.

PROPHETIC WORD:
Power to be a champion for Christ shall come upon you, and you shall not remain the same.

PRAYER POINTS:

2. I receive power to cut off the head of my Goliath, in the name of Jesus.
3. Satanic champion of my father’s house, receive the stone of my prayer, die, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING
4. Every evil bird flying against my destiny, crash land and die, in the name of Jesus.

Open Heavens 2nd June 2018 Saturday Daily Devotional – This Is My Story

Topic: This Is My Story [Open Heavens 2 June 2018, Saturday]

Memorise: This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. – 1 Timothy 1:15

Read: 1 Timothy 1:11-17 (KJV)

11 According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.

12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;

13 Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.

14 And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

15 This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Bible in One Year: 1 Kings 12-13, Acts 4:23-37.

MESSAGE:

Everyone has a story, but our individual stories are different. I prophesy into your life today that your story will be a pleasant one to hear in Jesus’ Name. When the creation story began in Genesis chapter 1, it was a pleasant story of restoration. Genesis 1:1-3 says:

“1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.”

However, this story changed when man fell from grace to grass. Man began to wallow in pain, sorrow, agony, poverty, sickness, hopelessness and uncertainty. The worst of this calamity was man’s alienation from his Creator. Speaking about this, Genesis 3:22-23 says:

“22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: 23 Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.”

From this point forward, the story of man became this pitiable narrative:

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” – Romans 3:23

However, at the appointed time, God Almighty made a way for all of mankind to change this story. He made unlimited grace available to us. This grace is unlimited because it is available to all who will receive it to change their story. It was this grace that changed the story of people like Apostle Paul who we read about in our Bible text today.

Beloved, your story can change as well if you will give your life to Christ and completely yield to His Lordship. If a chief among sinners like Saul of Tarsus could become Apostle Paul, I assure you that your own story will also change if you believe in the work of redemption that Christ came to offer us. After you accept this work of redemption, all other unpleasant stories about you like joblessness, poverty, sickness, handicapping situations, demonic oppression and eternal death will change. You will have a new story to tell, like the man who was born blind but whose story changed in John 9:25. After God has changed your story, be willing to share it with others, just as Paul and the man born blind did. When you do this, God will continue to give you new pleasant stories to share to the glory of His Holy Name. What is your story today?

Prayer Point: Father, please give me a pleasant story to share to the glory of Your Holy Name.

Hymn 3: What Can Wash Away My Sins

1. What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus;
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

Chorus:
Oh! precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow;
No other fount I know,
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.

2. For my cleansing this I see
Nothing but the blood of Jesus!
For my pardon this my plea
Nothing but the blood of Jesus!

3. Nothing can my sin erase
Nothing but the blood of Jesus!
Naught of works, ’tis all of grace
Nothing but the blood of Jesus!

4. This is all my hope and peace
Nothing but the blood of Jesus!
This is all my righteousness
Nothing but the blood of Jesus!

Dozens of Jailed Activists Released in Venezuela

Dozens of activists in Venezuela who government opponents consider political prisoners were released from jail Friday in what authorities called a gesture aimed at uniting the fractured nation, officials said.

Among the 39 prisoners set free under strict conditions are former mayor Daniel Ceballos, who had been detained for four years for promoting protests in the western city of San Cristobal, according to Venezuela’s Supreme Court.

Delcy Rodriguez, president of the Constituent National Assembly, said this is the first round and promised more prisoner releases.

President Nicolas Maduro said after being re-elected on May 20 in a contested victory that chief among his conciliatory measures would be releasing prisoners jailed for acts against the government.

Venezuelan “is greatly ready for a frank, sincere and constructive dialogue,” Maduro said in a tweet early Friday before the announcement. “The doors are open for those who choose the path of peace and reconciliation.”

The issue of the prisoners has been a sticking point during reconciliation talks, and opposition leader Laidy Gomez said discussions with Maduro a day prior were focused on ending political persecution.

Maduro called for some prisoners to be let go, but ruled out the release of those accused of homicide.

Ceballos, 34, was accused in 2014 of the crimes of rebellion and illegal association to commit wrongful acts, charges rejected by his lawyers, relatives and opponents.

While released, Ceballos must report to authorities monthly, he can’t leave Venezuela and he’s banned from talking to the media or…

Competing UN Security Council Measures on Gaza Both Fail

Competing U.N. Security Council proposals to respond to the escalation of violence in Gaza both failed Friday, demonstrating the deep divisions that have paralyzed the U.N.’s most powerful body.

After months of urgent discussions about the violence, the U.S. vetoed an Arab-backed resolution that sought to explore ways to ensure “international protection” for Palestinian civilians, while council members voted down a U.S. resolution to condemn Hamas, the militant group that rules Gaza.

Ten of the council’s 15 members voted for the Arab-backed resolution, drafted by Kuwait. The U.S. was the sole yes vote for its resolution.

In vetoing the Kuwaiti measure, U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley called it “grossly one-sided” for demanding that the Israeli military halt “the use of any excessive, disproportionate and indiscriminate force” while not mentioning Hamas, the militant group that controls Gaza.

“This resolution is wildly inaccurate in its characterization of recent events in Gaza” and “would harm any efforts toward peace,” she said.

But Kuwaiti Ambassador Mansour Al-Otaibi said the veto stood to exacerbate the problems in Gaza.

“It will increase the sentiment of despair among the Palestinians,” he said.

The defeated U.S. resolution, meanwhile, deletes the reference to Israeli force and protecting Palestinians, while adding many passages casting blame on Hamas for violence, endangering civilians, and deteriorating conditions in Gaza.

It demanded that Hamas and other Palestinian militant groups stop “all violent activity and provocative actions” in Gaza and…

Gay Christian Conference Accused of Pushing LGBT Agenda on Churches

(Screenshot: revoice.us)The first-ever Revoice Conference, scheduled for July 26-28, 2018 at Memorial Presbyterian Church in St. Louis, Missouri.

An LGBT Christian conference scheduled to be held this summer has been accused by some of pushing an LGBT agenda on conservative evangelical churches.

Known as the Revoice Conference, the multiday event is scheduled for July 26–28 at Memorial Presbyterian Church in St. Louis, Missouri, with hundreds expected to attend.

The Conference’s stated mission is to engage in “Supporting, encouraging, and empowering gay, lesbian, same-sex-attracted, and other LGBT Christians so they can flourish while observing the historic, Christian doctrine of marriage and sexuality.”

Revoice has already garnered criticism from some for what is perceived to be an effort to advance an LGBT agenda in churches at the expense of sound Christian teaching.

Stephen Black, executive director of First Stone Ministries, an organization that seeks to help people with what the group calls “sexual brokenness,” is one of the critics.

In an interview with The Christian Post, Black said he took issue with Revoice’s mission statement because he believed the conference was seeking “to manipulate the Church to embrace LGBT+ people as a victimized minority group…

Catholic Diocese Leaves Maine Council of Churches to Distance Itself From LGBT Advocacy

(Photo: Facebook.com/Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland)Bishop Robert Deeley participates in a mass at a church in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland, Maine in April 2018.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland will withdraw its membership from the Maine Council of Churches over concerns about LGBT advocacy after a new rule was implemented making it easier for the council to take public stances on societal and political issues.

The Portland Press-Herald first reported on the diocese decision on Tuesday, which follows a council vote in February to make it so that a majority vote among the council’s eight member denominations is all that is needed for the council to take official stands on public policy issues.

Previously, it was an unwritten rule of the council to only take public stands after a unanimous vote by its member denominations.

With the change being enacted, it means that the Catholic diocese was outnumbered on the council when it came to issues pertaining to LGBT rights by left-leaning members of the council, including the United Church of Christ, Unitarian Universalists Association of Congregations, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, The Episcopal Diocese of Maine and The New England Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Recent School Shootings Have Led to Increase In Homeschooling

Recent School Shootings Have Led to Increase In Homeschooling

The Texas Home School Coalition has seen an increase in interest in home schooling following the recent school shootings.

Texas Home School Coalition says it has been busy for months with inquiries after this year’s shootings in Parkland, Florida and Santa Fe, Texas.

“When the Parkland shooting happened, our phone calls and emails exploded,” said coalition president Tim Lambert. “In the last couple of months, our numbers have doubled. We’re dealing with probably between 1,200 and 1,400 calls and emails per month, and prior to that it was 600 to 700.”

Parents say they are also concerned about the environment of schools.

“One of the things we’ve seen definitely an uptick in the last five years is the aspect of violence. It’s the bullying. That is off the charts,” said Christopher Chin, president of Homeschool Louisiana.

“I think what happens with these school shootings is they’re the straws that broke the camel’s back,” Chin said. “I don’t think it’s the major decision-maker, but it’s in the back of parents’ minds.”

Brian D. Ray, president of the National Home Education Research Institute in Salem, Oregon, says there are three main reasons why parents choose homeschooling: to provide religious instruction or different values, dissatisfaction with the school’s curriculum, and worries about the school environment.

United Methodist Regional Body Enforces Noncelibate Gay Clergy Ban After First Resisting Church Rule

(Photo: Facebook/United Methodist General Conference)Delegates pray before a plenary session at the United Methodist Church’s 2016 General Conference in Portland, Oregon.

A regional body of the United Methodist Church that previously refused to enforce the denomination’s ban on noncelibate homosexual clergy has upheld the ordination standards.

In 2016, the Baltimore-Washington Annual Conference of the UMC joined a few other regional bodies in refusing to enforce the UMC Book of Discipline’s ban on clergy who are “self-avowed practicing homosexuals.”

However, in a ruling given on Wednesday evening, Baltimore-Washington Area Bishop LaTrelle Easterling said that two individuals approved by the Board of Ordained Ministry for ordination and commissioning are ineligible due to violating the “practicing homosexuals” ban.

Bishop Easterling said in a statement posted to the Baltimore-Washington Conference’s website on Thursday that she believed “there are no winners here today,” adding that while she does not agree with the current Book of Discipline’s position on ordination standards, “it is the book upon which we order our work together, and live in covenant with one another.”

“In my opinion, when we pick and choose how and when we will uphold it, we begin the slippery slope…

Secret Christians in Saudi Arabia at greater risk during Ramadan

Christian charity Open Doors have found that the secretive believers – who face punishment if they’re caught – are at greater risk during the Muslim prayer month because prayer and fasting is expected from all Saudis during the prayer month.

Beth Fuller, spokesperson for Open Doors told Premier about Ahmed, who recently became a Christian and the pressure he is facing from his family.

“They would often kind of ask him to lead the prayers during Ramadan and he finds it very awkward to say no because he doesn’t really believe it anymore.

“It’s quite difficult… for Christians to feel that they have that integrity in following Jesus but not making it so obvious to the people around them.”

The charity said the handful of Saudis who have converted to Christianity usually keep their faith hidden as converting from Islam brings great shame on a family.

If discovered, Christians risk excommunication, imprisonment and even honour killings.

Fuller urged Christians to be praying for secret believers who need protection from people “who might be seeking to find secret Christians and expose them”.

She also called for prayer over Christians in the Islamic kingdom for them to “really have wisdom as they try and work out how to keep the balance of being faithful to Jesus and yet also not revealing their faith in an obvious way”.

Listen to Beth Fuller speaking with Premier’s Eno Adeogun:

Paige Patterson Friend Challenges Allegations, Offers Evidence; Says He Was Fired by Phone in Dead of Night

(Photos: paigepatterson.org; Facebook)Former president of the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas, Paige Patterson (L), Scott Colter who served as his chief of staff (R) and Scott’s wife Sharayah (C).

Sharayah Colter, wife of Paige Patterson’s former chief of staff Scott Colter, has challenged several of the allegations that led to the former Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary president’s firing Wednesday, which she revealed was unceremoniously executed by telephone in the dead of night while he was on assignment in Germany.

Writing in a post on SBC Issues Thursday, Sharayah Colter, who previously worked as a journalist, argued that her husband’s former boss, whom she considered a personal friend, is “not guilty of all of which he has been accused in recent days,” including encouraging a former student not to report an alleged rape. Seminary officials, she said, did not give him an opportunity to defend himself at the May 30 meeting where the decision was made to fire him.

The board of trustees of the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary located in Ft. Worth, Texas, announced Wednesday that Patterson had been fired effective immediately and that they had cut all ties with him after new details, which they did not reveal, emerged…
