They show the typical PCR listener is tuning in for 18 hours every week – more than any other network brand across the country.

Programme director Bernard Achampong told Premier’s Inspirational Breakfast show: “People are spending 18 hours a week with us.

“I think big brands like BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio 2 have people spending eleven hours a week, so that’s quite a margin.”

PCR is also celebrating an increase in market share – from 0.5 per cent in the final three months of 2017 to 1.4 per cent in the first three months of this year.

Weekly reach also rose in that time, from 141,800 to 157,800 listeners.

The average BBC Radio 4 audience member spent 11.8 hours per-week listening, while the figure for BBC Radio 2 was 11.7 hours.

Bernard Achampong continued: “I think it’s because we do something different.

“We’re not just trying to entertain people; we’re not just trying to push content on you.

“We’re actually spending time with you; we broadcast up to eight hours of ministry programmes per-day.

“Not many radio stations do things like that.”

The statistics were compiled by RAJAR, or Radio Joint Audience Research – the official body in charge of measuring radio audiences across the UK.

When presenter Rosie Wright asked her if she thought it was a compliment she said: “Of course it is, it’s just a very cheerful way of complimenting somebody, I mean obviously I don’t get wolf-whistled now but when I got them when I was younger I used to smile and wave and just carry on.”

The Duke of Cambridge and Prime Minister Theresa May will be among those attending a service of remembrance at Manchester Cathedral, along with families of the victims of the suicide bombing, the injured, the first responders to the scene, civic leaders and other national figures.

The May 22 invitation-only service, held between 2pm and 3pm, will incorporate the national silence at 2.30pm, which will be marked at UK government buildings.

Members of the public will be able to watch proceedings on a big screen in nearby Cathedral Gardens, while the service will also be screened at York Minster, Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral and Glasgow Cathedral.

Later, more than 3,000 singers from local choirs will join forces and share the spirit of solidarity at the Manchester Together – With One Voice event in the city’s Albert Square from 7.30pm to 9pm.

Among those performing are the Manchester Survivors Choir, a group made up people who were at the Arena on the night of the fateful Ariane Grande concert, and Parrs Wood High School’s
Harmony Group, whose post-attack tribute went viral last year.

The Church says that some people – including Christians identifying as gay, bisexual or lesbian – would prefer the arrangement over marriage.

Director of mission and public affairs for the CofE, Dr Rev Malcolm Brown was quoted by Christian Today as saying: “We believe that Civil Partnerships still have a place, including for some Christian LGBTI [lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex] couples who see them as a way of gaining legal recognition of their relationship.”

“Even if the Government’s current information-gathering exercise reveals only a small number are taking up Civil Partnerships, we hope it will remain an option.”

The Government Equalities Office set out last week plans to consult on whether there was strong enough demand to justify keeping civil partnerships.

While more than 6,300 were typically registered annually in the eight years before the same-sex marriage was legalised in 2014, the figure fell to below 900 in both 2015 and 2016.

In a document released last Friday, the Office said: “”We want to understand why some same-sex couples continue to opt for civil partnership instead of marriage; this is an important part of the evidence base, especially if we decide to phase out or abolish civil partnerships, now that marriage is available to everyone.”

Professional chocolatiers have created an edible replica of St George’s Chapel and other sections of the Berkshire landmark – including the front facade and turrets.

The model, which took four days to make and stands two feet six inches tall, has gone on show to visitors at the Cadbury World tourist attraction in Birmingham.

Diane Mitchell, marketing manager at Cadbury World, said: “Our chocolatiers never fail to create something fit for royalty to celebrate a special occasion, but I think the chocolate Windsor Castle may well be their crowning glory.

“The scale of the construction and its minute details make it one of the best yet.”

The structure uses the equivalent of 1,111 standard Dairy Milk bars and painstaking features include individually hand-scored bricks, a coat of arms and chocolate flowers.

Diane Mitchell added: “We look forward to sharing the creation up-close with Cadbury World visitors and wish Prince Harry and Meghan a wonderful and very happy life together.”

Cadbury marked the birth of Prince Louis by crafting a chocolate rocking horse. It created a chocolate pram for Princess Charlotte and a variety of toys for Prince George’s arrival in 2013.
