Andrew Wommack’s Devotional 11 May 2018 – Self Seeking Not God Seeking

Topic: Self Seeking Not God Seeking [Andrew Wommack Friday May 11, 2018]

John 6:26, “Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.”

Text: Matthew 14:34-36; Mark 6:53-56; John 6:22-39

Jesus knew the hearts of all men and therefore, He did not commit Himself to this crowd. Just the day before, these same people tried to take Him by force and make Him their king, but He withdrew and spent the night in prayer.

This crowd looked like they were seeking Jesus, but they were actually trying to use Jesus to seek their own end. It is true that there are many personal benefits to be reaped through serving the Lord, but the benefits are never to become our object. In all things, Christ must have the preeminence (Col. 1:18).

Jesus exposed the true intentions of the people’s hearts by preaching a strong message of commitment. Those who were self-centered were offended and left while those who were willing to lay down their lives to experience God’s abundant life remained. Commitment to God Himself (not what He can produce) is what always separates the true worshippers of God from the false.

As Jesus began to explain in these verses that He was the only way to the Father (Jn. 14:6) and that they would have to come through Him, the people grew angry. It always angers the flesh to think that all our righteous acts can’t save us, but Jesus made it clear that our only part in salvation is to believe. Believe what? Believe on Jesus and His sacrifice – not ours. Salvation is a gift and cannot be purchased (Rom. 10:2-3).

Many times, we get so intent on seeking God in one area that we forget the greatest miracle of all, which is the love and redemption given to us from God through His Son. God loves us so much!

DCLM Daily Manna 11 May, 2018 by Pastor Kumuyi – Better To Run

Topic: Better To Run [DCLM Daily Manna Friday May 11, 2018]

Text: Genesis 39:13-23 (KJV)

Key Verse: “And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out” (Genesis 39:12).

MESSAGE:

In the Australian bush country grows a little plant called the sundew. It has a slender stem and tiny, round leaves fringed with hairs that glisten with bright drops of liquid as delicate as fine dew. Woe to the insect, however, that dares to dance on it. Although its attractive clusters of red, white and pink blossoms are harmless, the leaves are deadly. The shiny moisture on each leaf is sticky and will imprison any bug that touches it. As an insect struggles to free itself, the vibration causes the leaves to close tightly around it. This innocent looking plant then feeds on its victim.

Immoral sin of the flesh, whether fornication, adultery or masturbation is not only sticky and imprisoning; it renders its victims a feast for the unquenchable fire. Can anyone take fire in his/her bosom and not be burnt? (Proverbs 6:24-33).

When Joseph fled the scene of temptation leaving his garment behind, the evil woman decide to keep the dress to use as evidence to nail him at her lord’s return. Without being given any chance to defend himself, Joseph was then put in prison by his master, Potiphar, where he maintained the best attitude though he was wrongly accused. But he escaped the snare of the fowler and preserved his life.

Joseph’s temptation appeals to a strong, natural drive, which takes only God’s grace to resist. Temptation is not sin; yielding to it is. By resisting sin, his character and convictions grew and he became stronger spiritually. We must resist the devil with the word of God and flee from temptation in order to fulfill our Christian objectives. For this to be possible, we must have sound knowledge of the Scriptures.

Thought For The Day: Better flee from the scene of temptation, than play there and perish.

Seeds of Destiny 11 May 2018 by Pastor Paul Enenche: Longevity By Impact

Topic: Longevity By Impact [Seeds of Destiny Friday May 11, 2018]

Scripture: Peter sent them all out of the room; then he got down on his knees and prayed. Turning toward the dead woman, he said, “Tabitha, get up.” She opened her eyes, and seeing Peter she sat up. Acts 9:40 (The New NIV)

Thought For The Day: The impact of your life to your world determines your longevity on earth.

It has been confirmed that one secret of living long on earth is positive impact. Your positive impact on people has the power to prolong your days on earth.

Let me give you an example: our anchor Scripture tells us a story of a follower of Jesus Christ whose name was Dorcas; she was full of good works. One day, she fell sick and died. Peter was sent for and when he went there, the widows showed him all the clothes Dorcas had given to them while she was alive. They presented the evidences of her positive impact on their lives as they cried to Peter. Peter was touched and seemed to have said, ‘This woman is too useful to leave the earth’. So, he prayed to God and the woman was brought back to life.

This means, your contribution affects your destination; your impact affects your outcome. Your impact to your generation is measured by the contribution of your life to the people around you. The impact of your life to your world determines where you can reach in life.

My counsel is, in order to live long on the earth, cultivate the habit of affecting people, touching lives, making a difference in the lives of others, releasing the Word of God from your heart, putting a smile on the face of someone; and you will be amazed where you will reach in life.

Remember this: The impact of your life to your world determines where you can reach in life.

Assignments:
1. Decide to touch lives by meeting the needs of people.
2. Endeavour to impact someone with God’s Word.

Prayer: O Lord, I ask for the grace to touch the lives of people around me. Help me to put smiles on the faces of people, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.

Ecuador’s New Rules Ban Assange From Taking Visitors and Phone Calls

Julian Assange has been hit with new rules limiting his communications by officials at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London. The new measures include bans on using the phone and having visitors, according to WikiLeaks.

The founder of the whistleblowing website has reportedly found himself isolated within the embassy recently. In March, he had his internet access curtailed after taking to Twitter to criticize Britain’s response to the poisoning of Sergei and Yulia Skripal in Salisbury, as well as repeated comments about Spain’s dispute with Catalonia. At the time, the Ecuadorian government said Assange had breached a written commitment “not to issue messages that might interfere with other states.”

Speaking with the foreign press Wednesday, Foreign Minister Maria Fernanda Espinosa confirmed that Assange was still being denied internet access while talks between the UK and Ecuador to decide on his fate are still ongoing.

“He still has no access to the Internet and communications. There is a dialogue, there is a will and an interest to move forward in the solution of that matter,” he said, according to El Tiempo.

WikiLeaks claims Assange has been silenced because of pressure from the US. The website also says the description of the measures as a “social media ban” undersells the extent to which he’s being held “incommunicado.”

Open Heavens 11 May 2018 Friday daily devotional by Pastor E. A. Adeboye – Spiritual Sensitivity

Topic: Spiritual Sensitivity [Open Heavens 11th May 2018, Friday]

Memorise: Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.Hebrews 13:2

Read: 1 Corinthians 2:9-16 (KJV)

9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.

12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.

16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

Bible in One Year: 1 Samuel 26-28, James 3:13-4:17.

MESSAGE:

In the physical realm, sensitivity can be viewed from the perspective of a deep feeling of love and compassion for a person, which usually translates to a commensurate level of understanding for the person’s needs, leading to appropriate actions being taken in that person’s interest. In the spiritual realm however, sensitivity is a quality of life generated by the Spirit of God. It is the ability to perceive and respond to the call of God or the spiritual demands of the moment. A lack of spiritual sensitivity affects the physical and spiritual wellbeing of God’s children and must be avoided at all costs. Beginning from today, your spiritual antennae will begin to receive heavenly signals in the Name of Jesus. Concerning spiritual sensitivity, 1 Corinthians 2:14 says,

“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”

From this verse, we understand that spiritual sensitivity is a grace that comes from living under the control of the Holy Spirit. Are you spiritually sensitive?

In Isaiah 11:3b, the Holy Spirit painted a picture of our spiritual nature, which is fashioned after Christ, saying:

“…and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:”

Our Lord Jesus Christ manifested this nature in John 4:17-19 and in several other passages of the gospels. Because we are fashioned after Him, we ought to walk as He walked. Spiritual sensitivity was Jesus’ lifestyle, and so, any Christian that is not spiritually sensitive will not walk in the reality of the abundant life that he or she possesses. Without spiritual sensitivity, a person is bound to depend on suspicion, natural intelligence, educational awareness and natural senses. These are all deficient in receiving the things of God. Without spiritual sensitivity, Abraham would have missed his blessing and the opportunity to save Lot and his family from destruction (Genesis 18:1-33), Samson’s parents would have missed a wonderful chance of a lifetime (Judges 13:3-25), and the great Prophet Samuel would have anointed the wrong person as king over Israel (1 Samuel 16:4-13). When decisions are made based on physical evidence alone, no matter how incontrovertible the evidence may seem, there is still always the possibility of miscarriage of justice. This has wrongly sent people to prison and even death. I pray that your spiritual sensitivity will become sharpened today in Jesus Name.

Prayer Point: Father, I want to be vibrant for You; please set me on fire for You today in Jesus’ Name.

Hymn 15: Nearer My God To Thee

1. Nearer, my God to Thee,
Nearer to Thee!
E’en though it be a cross
That raiseth me,
Still all my song shall be.
Nearer, my God to Thee!
Nearer, my God to Thee!
Nearer to Thee!

2. Though like the wanderer,
The sun gone down.
Darkness be over me,
My rest a stone.
Yet in my dreams I’d be
Nearer, my God to Thee!
Nearer, my God to Thee!
Nearer to Thee!

3. There let the way appear
Steps unto heaven;
All that Thou send’st to me
In mercy given:
Angels to beckon me
Nearer, my God, to Thee!
Nearer, my God to Thee!
Nearer to Thee!

4. Then, with my waking thoughts
Bright with Thy praise,
Out of my stony griefs
Bethel I’ll raise
So by my woes to be
Nearer, my God, to Thee!
Nearer, my God to Thee!
Nearer to Thee!

Israel Hits Dozens of Iranian Targets in Syria After Attack on Golan Heights

The Israeli military on Thursday said it attacked nearly all of Iran’s military installations in neighboring Syria in response to an Iranian rocket barrage on Israeli positions in the occupied Golan Heights, in the most serious military confrontation between the two bitter enemies to date.

Israel said the targets of the strikes, its largest in Syria since the 1973 war, included weapons storage, logistics sites and intelligence centers used by elite Iranian forces in Syria. It also said it destroyed several Syrian air-defense systems after coming under heavy fire and that none of its warplanes were hit.

Iranian media described the attacks as “unprecedented,” but there was no official Iranian comment on Israel’s claims.

The White House condemned Iran’s “provocative rocket attacks from Syria against Israeli citizens” and expressed strong support for “Israel’s right to act in self-defense,” while Russia said the Israeli strikes marked a dangerous escalation, urging both Israel and Iran to avoid provoking each other.

In a statement, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said “the Iranian regime’s deployment into Syria of offensive rocket and missile systems aimed at Israel is an unacceptable and highly dangerous development for the entire Middle East.”

Israel has acknowledged carrying out over 100 airstrikes in neighboring Syria since the civil war erupted in 2011, most believed to be aimed at suspected Iranian weapons shipments bound for the Hezbollah militant group.

But in the past few weeks, Israel has shifted to a more direct and public…

Is Europe Ready for Wave of Freed Terrorism Convicts?

Over the next two years, terrorism convicts will walk free from European prisons by the dozens — more than 200 inmates who largely formed the first wave of jihadis streaming to Syria and Iraq, dreaming of an Islamic caliphate not yet established.

In all, about 12,000 Europeans left to fight with the Islamic State group and al-Qaida beginning in 2011; about a third of those are now believed to be back home, mostly living freely. Some are awaiting trial, but most never even faced serious charges due to insufficient evidence.

And many more were thwarted from traveling to the war zone entirely, left to stew and, sometimes, plot at home.

How much of a threat do these avowed extremists living throughout Europe pose, and how equipped are authorities to deal with them? The tactics thus far have been, at best, improvised.

The impending releases of jihadi veterans could be considered “a fourth wave of returnees,” according to Rik Coolsaet, a scholar at Belgium’s Egmont Institute who has done extensive research on violent extremism.

“There are a number of personal frustrations and motivations that have pushed the kids in their journey to ISIS that we now have to address,” Coolsaet said. “If we don’t address it now, the environment will remain as conducive for this kind of jihadi violence.”

Farid Benyettou, a former influential crusader who has now publicly renounced extremism, fears Europe is not braced to cope with the hordes of believers roaming free.

Once nicknamed the “imam Voltaire” after the high school he left to become a backroom preacher to young Muslims in his Paris…

Report: UN Weakness on Religious Freedom Undercuts its Authority on Human Rights

Report: UN Weakness on Religious Freedom Undercuts its Authority on Human Rights

The UN cannot strengthen, promote and protect human rights if it does not prioritise religious freedom, a report published by the Washington-based human rights alliance, ADF International has argued.

The 73-page report, titled “Anti-Conversion Laws and the International Response”, claims that “some UN entities, especially special rapporteurs, have highlighted the problems with anti-conversion laws, but other (UN) entities have failed to condemn them”. That particular failure, the report says, is “emblematic of the UN’s overall failure to protect religious freedom”.

ADF, an international alliance of human-rights groups with a focus on religious freedom, also accused the UN of turning a blind eye to laws that “usually give licence” to extremists to persecute minority religious groups.

‘Licence to persecute’

In South and Southeast Asia, an increase in nationalism was one of the main contributors to the growing popularity of anti-conversation laws, according to ADF. Nationalist forces regard conversion from the predominant religion — Islam in Pakistan, and Hindu in India, for example — as a threat to national unity and security.

“To stem this perceived threat, countries … have passed laws banning conversion from one religion to another in vague circumstances such as under ‘inducement’ and in ‘fraudulent…

Dame Barbara Windsor’s husband congratulated by dementia cafe vicar after Alzheimer’s revelation

An emotional interview given by Scott Mitchell (pictured above) was praised by Rev Steve Morris, who runs a so-called memory cafe at his church for families affected by dementia.

The leader of St Cuthbert’s in north Wembley told Premier he was “proud” of the family’s decision to go public about the star’s diagnosis – made in 2014.

Urging other families to have open conversation about dementia, he added: “People are not only scared of Alzheimer’s, they’re scared of being labelled, I think.

“When people are more open about it, their families can get more involved in their care [and] people realise there’s no shame to having Alzheimer’s.

“One thing about speaking about it and acknowledging it is that you’re now on the dementia journey and I think it takes away the fear because it’s the fear that’s one of the worst things about dementia.”

Mr Mitchell told the Sun newspaper that his wife’s symptoms have grown more profound in recent weeks and that he wanted to set the record straight amid the circulation of rumours about her health.

He said: “Since her 80th birthday last August, a definite continual confusion has set in, so it’s becoming a lot more difficult for us to hide.”

John Stilwell/PA Wire

Louise Morse, a Christian researcher who has written extensively about dementia, told Premier an Alzheimer’s diagnosis can be traumatic but it does not…
