The more I ponder it, the more amazed I am that I can immediately increase or decrease my joy and the joy of others by simply choosing to say good things.

Joy is vital! Nehemiah 8:10 tells us joy is our strength. No wonder the devil works overtime trying to do anything he can to diminish our joy. Don’t sit by and let it happen to you. Fight the good fight with faith-filled words, releasing joy into the very atmosphere you are in.

Jesus came to bring good news and glad tidings of great joy, to overcome evil with good. He wants you to be as committed as He is to finding and magnifying the good in everything. Do yourself a favor and say something good!

Prayer Starter: Father, Help me to focus on the good things in life today and choose to live with joy. Let me to also use my words to be a source of joy to others. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Topic: Turn To Your Stronghold [TREM Devotional Wednesday May 2, 2018]

“Turn you to the strong hold, ye prisoners of hope: even today do I declare that I will render double unto thee” Zechariah 9:12

When you are saved from sin, you become one who is entitled to all-round success. You are entitled to breakthrough. You are entitled to favour. It is your right! It is your heritage! It is all part of the package. “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, …” (Romans 8:1 KJV) Beloved, heaven rejoices over you. God is not putting up with you.

You know some people say that they are your friends but they are just enduring you. It is not so with God. He loves you with an everlasting love. That is why He paid the price for your sin. No one goes to hell because of his sins. That will surprise you! People go to hell because they refused the cure for sin. Jesus is the cure for sin. You need to realize that there is nothing you can possibly do to pay for your sin. Whatever you think you can afford is too cheap. Nothing but the blood of Jesus can wash away our sins. Don’t cast away your confidence in Christ. Put your trust absolutely in God. “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” (Romans 8:32 KJV)

In Zechariah 9:12, the ancient prophet of God says: “Turn to your stronghold…”; your stronghold is not your certificate. It is not your connection. It is neither your expertise nor your professionalism. They are all good, but if that is where your trust is, you will be disappointed because they still have a margin for failure. Your stronghold should be on the Rock that is unshakeable. The infallible and errorless Word is your stronghold. Jesus is your stronghold. Turn to your stronghold. Turning to your stronghold is trusting God who has spoken. It is holding fast to the promises irrespective of situations or circumstances. And as you do, be assured, He will come through for you.

Topic: Be Kind [Teens Open Heavens 2, May 2018]

MESSAGE:

As a child of God, it is expected that you should be kind to everyone around you regardless of their tribe, culture, religion, colour or orientation. You must never be wicked or look down on anybody. You must always look out for ways to be of help to people who need your assistance. When the Lord Jesus was on earth, it was never recorded that He was unkind to anyone. We are supposed to look up to Jesus Christ and model our life after His own. This means that if He was kind to everyone, we also have to be kind to everyone too. When you see an elderly person struggling with carrying something heavy, kindness will make you offer to assist such a person with what they are carrying.

Another reason why it is important to be kind at all times is because you may actually unknowingly perform an act of kindness towards an angel or God Himself. Abraham is a classic example of someone who was kind to strangers and got rewarded with his greatest heart desire – a son. Be kind

Action Point: Be kind to everyone, you don’t know who might be fighting an internal battle and your act of kindness will make his/her life worth living.

Scripture: Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. James 4:8

Thought For The Day: Every Word of God must be backed up by the works of men for the wonders of God to manifest.

The Scriptures make it abundantly clear that everything about your life has been settled in eternity with God before you were born; God created you for a purpose and His desire is to make you great on earth (Genesis 1:26-28, Genesis 12:1-5, Jeremiah 1:4-5, Jeremiah 29:11). So, no devil can abort God’s purpose for your life.

However, many people have not reached where God designed for them in life because they have not aligned themselves with the purpose of God for their lives.

It is important to know that there must always be cooperation between man and God in order for man to fulfil God’s purpose for his life. This means, there are responsibilities you must embrace in order to reach where you are destined to reach on earth. Every Divine provision has human conditions. Many people could not reach God’s ordained plan for their lives because they refused to take the responsibility or fulfil their obligation in actualizing destiny.

So, a person must take action in response to what God says in order to see manifestation. Every Word of God must be backed up by the works of men for the wonders of God to manifest.

Beloved, one of your responsibilities in fulfilling God’s purpose for your life is a conscious effort in drawing nearer to God. When a man draws near to God, God, in turn, draws nearer to Him and helps him to fulfil purpose on earth (James 4:8).

My counsel is, as you draw nearer to God, identify and embrace other responsibilities in becoming what God created you for.

Remember this: Every Word of God must be backed up by the works of men for the wonders of God to manifest.

Assignments:
1. Make drawing nearer to God a conscious and consistent effort.
2. Identify and embrace other responsibilities from God’s Word for destiny fulfilment.

Prayer: Show me Lord, my responsibilities and the actions to take from Your Word in order to fulfil destiny. Give me the grace to embrace them, Lord in Jesus’ Name.

Text: Leviticus 9:1-14 (KJV)

Key Verse: “And Moses said unto Aaron, Go unto the altar, and offer thy sin offering, and thy burnt offering, and make an atonement for thyself, and for the people: and offer the offering of the people, and make an atonement for them; as the LORD commanded” (Leviticus 9:7).

MESSAGE:

The concept of atonement is as old as the fall of man, when God caused Adam and Eve to be clothed with coats of skin He had made. The aprons Adam and Eve made out of fig leaves could not do. It was inferior but God’s was superior.

In the Mosaic ordinances, it was the exclusive responsibility of the high priest to perform atonement for the sins of the people. Aaron and his sons were charged with the responsibility of offering the different sacrifices for the sins of Israel. Moses, as directed by God, instructed them as to what offerings to be observed – sin offering, burnt offering, peace offering and meat offering – with their respective sacrifices.

One important aspect of this ordinance was that the high priest had to first, make atonement for himself before making for the people. This was an acknowledgement of his personal imperfection. Indeed, the whole process was imperfect and only served as a pointer to the ultimate atonement which was performed by Christ Jesus, our perfect High Priest.

Unlike Aaron, Christ was sinless and did not have to atone for Himself. Unlike the use of animal blood, Christ shed his own blood and died a vicarious death. The Mosaic atonement needed to be done every year (because it could not really cleanse sins); Christ’s atonement was once and for all and is of universal application.

To benefit from Christ’s atonement, you must acknowledge your sins, confess them to God, repent of those sins and place your faith in Him to cleanse you from all unrighteousness. No matter how terrible your sins were, they will be forgiven if you repent in sincerity. Note that no other sacrifice qualifies for your cleansing and reconciliation with God. Take these steps, become a child of God and have access to the unsearchable riches of Christ here and beyond.

Mark 6:31, “And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.”

Text: Matthew 14:13-21; Mark 6:30-44; Luke 9:10-17; John 6:1-14

Jesus often separated Himself from others so that He could spend time with the Father. Here, we see Jesus calling His disciples apart for rest and leisure. Many zealous Christians have neglected the needs of their physical bodies and have, therefore, cut their ministries short through death or severe illness. Likewise, many have failed to take the time to be still and know God (Ps. 46:10). This will also cut your ministry short through non-effectiveness. One of Satan’s deadliest weapons against those involved in ministry is busy-ness. We must balance our time ministering to others with our time of being ministered to by our Father. If the devil can’t stop you from “getting on fire” for God, then he’ll try to stop you by getting you “burned out.”

Remember, the reason Jesus and His disciples were going to this remote place was to get away from the multitude for awhile and rest. This rest was not optional, but rather, a necessity. Jesus and His disciples were taking a much needed vacation. However, the multitude followed them and their vacation ended even before it began. Surely, Jesus and His disciples were just as disappointed as you or I would have been. But instead of anger or bitterness, Jesus was moved with compassion.

Later on in the evening, Jesus went up into a mountain and prayed until the fourth watch (3 to 6 a.m.). The Lord intends for us to take care of these physical bodies as can be seen by Jesus’ actions in taking His disciples aside for rest. But when this purpose was frustrated by the demands of the ministry, Jesus gave priority to the spirit man and stayed up all night praying and getting the spiritual rest He was needing. We should follow His example and always put the needs of the spirit ahead of the needs of the flesh.

Topic: Train Your Spirit [Kenneth & Gloria Copeland, Wednesday May 2, 2018]

It [grace] has trained us to reject and renounce all ungodliness (irreligion) and worldly (passionate) desires, to live discreet (temperate, self-controlled), upright, devout (spiritually whole) lives in this present world. – Titus 2:12, The Amplified Bible

When an athlete goes into training, he practices to improve his skills. He works hard, repeating the same motions over and over until they become what we’d call “second nature” to him.

Most of us understand how crucial that kind of training is in the physical realm. We know that you simply can’t be a winner without it. But did you know we can train ourselves that same way where spiritual things are concerned?

That’s right! Hebrews 5:14 says we can train our senses to discern between good and evil. When you train, or practice, for something, you expose yourself daily to whatever it is you want to become. You practice it over and over until it becomes second nature to you. People who are lazy have practiced being lazy. People who are disciplined have practiced being disciplined.

Spending time with God is “spirit” practice. As you do it diligently, your spirit will grow stronger and will start to overcome the habits of the flesh.

If, for example, you have trouble getting up in the morning to spend time with God before the busyness of the day begins, if you’ve been giving in to your flesh and staying in bed, then you’ll have to start practicing getting up. The more you practice it, the easier it will be.

Don’t expect yourself to do it perfectly right from the beginning. Don’t get discouraged when you stumble and fail. You’re just out of practice. Get back on your feet and go at it again!

Become a spiritual athlete. Put yourself in training by practicing the things of God. Build your spirit muscles through fellowship with Him. You will be surprised to find just how much of a winner you can be.
