The call follows a YouGov study published on World Sleep Day that found that over a third of workers have sleepless nights due to financial difficulties and debt.
Jim Goodchild from Christians Against Poverty told Premier how sleep loss can be a good sign that help is needed.
“It’s natural sometimes… if we have something difficult to perhaps have a night or two where we struggle to sleep,” he said during Premier’s News Hour.
“But if that’s a persistent thing – that our worries are getting on top of us – it’s really important that people seek the help that they need.”
The NHS warns the mental effects after several sleepless nights can be serious, with a risk to wellbeing as well as effectiveness at work.
The research conducted on behalf of credit information provider, Equifax, also found that sleeplessness has the biggest impact on people earning between £30,000 and £34,999 per year, with 65 per cent of this group saying it has negatively affected their performance at work.
Workers in the £10,000 to £14,999 bracket were least likely to be worried about poor performance at work as a result of sleeplessness.
Goodchild highlighted the importance of Christians helping people struggling financially.

A West African entrepreneur is launching a new Bible journal employing the science of “if-then planning” to help busy Christians in a culture of distractions solidify their Bible-reading habits and quiet times.
Yed Anikpo, a 38-year old Ivory Coast native and father of three who is now based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, told The Christian Post on Wednesday that as a serial entrepreneur and creative type, he’s always looking for ways to be more productive.
“About a year ago I stumbled across Dr. Peter Gollwitzer’s work on implementation intentions, or “if-then” planning. Over 100 studies have shown that deciding in advance when and where one will take specific actions to reach one’s goal can double or triple their chances of success,” he said.
Around the same time, Anikpo asked his approximately 20,000 Christian email subscribers what was their No.1 frustration when it comes to their engagement with Scripture. An overwhelming majority responded that they did not have enough time to read and meditate on God’s Word every day because life is so busy, which comports with a 2017 Barna survey on the subject.
“So I thought: Why not apply this science of “if-then” planning to the most important goal anyone can have, namely, reading and meditating on Scripture.”

Christian celebrity Kathie Lee Gifford said that she won’t consider dating someone unless that person shares her Christian faith.
Gifford’s husband, Frank, passed away on Aug. 9, 2015. Gifford has shared that she struggles with loneliness now that he is gone.
“My biggest struggle at this point of my life is loneliness. I’ve lost my parents, my husband is gone now and my children live far away from me,” Gifford said in an “I Am Second” video. “I still live in the same big house where we made a gazillion million memories. And there are times when I am overwhelmed by loneliness.”
Despite these feelings, the 64-year-old said she would only date someone who is a Christian.
She shared how she recently broke off seeing someone because he didn’t share her faith:
“He didn’t share my faith and couldn’t understand why I didn’t want to be with him,” Gifford recalled. “I said, ‘My faith isn’t something I do on Sunday mornings for an hour. My faith is me, and I’m not going to share my life with somebody or even another hour of my life on a date with you if you don’t share the same passion for your faith as I do.”
She added that she is open to finding love again, but is trusting God.
“If that’s part of God’s will for me, I’m certainly open to it. I’m not out at singles bars. I’m not online.”

While not yet confirmed, rumor has it that a new iPad Pro will be unveiled at this year’s World Wide Developers’ Conference. Among the features that this enigmatic tablet has in store is reportedly facial recognition which previously debuted with the iPhone X.
Rumors began late last year that Apple is working on a new iPad that incorporates some of the iPhone X’s features. Among the biggest changes will be the removal of the iPad home button, reducing the size of the tablet’s edges bringing its design closer to that of Apple’s flagship smartphone.
According to Bloomberg, the home button and its built-in fingerprint scanner will be replaced by the Face ID unlocking system. The new model is also expected to do away OLED screen, with its vivid colors and sharper clarity.
Sources close to the matter claim that at least one model is expected to come out this year that features slimmer edges and Face ID. If it does, it will mark the first major redesign for the iPad since the iPad Pro debuted in 2015. As for its release date however, not much has been revealed so far.
In addition to the major redesign, the iPad Pro is also expected to receive a new accessory in the form of a keyless keyboard. Details are still unclear at this point but Apple’s recent patent filing with the US Patent & Trademark Office suggests that the company is looking to advance its keyless keyboard technology.

A California high school teacher has been placed on paid administrative leave after she questioned whether a student walkout would be allowed for the pro-life cause.
On Wednesday, March 14th, thousands of students participated in a walkout to protest gun violence and to honor the 17 students and teachers who were killed in the Parkland, Florida shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
Reason.com reports that Julianne Benzel, a teacher at Rocklin High School in Rocklin, California, was placed on leave after she questioned whether the school’s administrators would give the same treatment to students who wanted to participate in a walkout for the pro-life cause.
“And so I just kind of used the example which I know it’s really controversial, but I know it was the best example I thought of at the time,” Benzel explained. “[If] a group of students nationwide, or even locally, decided ‘I want to walk out of school for 17 minutes’ and go in the quad area and protest abortion, would that be allowed by our administration?”
Benzel’s students apparently understood the point she was trying to make and they had a helpful class discussion, but the school’s administration did not see the issue the same way.

I Can Only Imagine tells the emotional backstory of the song with the same name by Christian rock band MercyMe.
Lead singer, Bart Millard wrote the song after losing his father as a teen.
He experienced a difficult upbringing brought on by his mother’s desertion and father’s abuse.
He told USA Today that part of the song’s appeal was that it – instead of “shoving the Bible down people’s throats” – used God to simply question the nature of death.
He explained: “I’m asking the same question many people have wondered, whether you go to church or not, like, ‘ok, God, if this turns out to be real, if we die and we get (to heaven), how am I going to respond?’
“There’s no answers in that song, it’s all questions.”
The Texas-based group released the song in 2001 and it went on to sell 2.5 million copies around the world. Its popularity peaked in the aftermath of the 11th September terrorist attacks in the US.
The film, which is directed by Andrew Erwin and Jon Erwin, is being released in 1,626 theatres.
Early tracking by BoxOffice Pro suggests the movie could follow in the song’s successful footsteps as its heading for a strong opening – near the $1.5 million mark – and it could end its run with $3 million or more.

Stephen Hawking was one of the greatest physicists in history. One professor predicted that scientists “will still be talking about Hawking radiation,” his theory about black holes, a thousand years from now.
His spirit was buoyant as well; an actor who played him in a 2014 biopic called him “the funniest man I have ever met.” I was deeply impressed upon reading his bestseller, A Brief History of Time, and am not surprised that it has sold more than ten million copies.
After Hawking died this week, I read his autobiography, My Brief History. His story is both fascinating and tragic, with enormous implications for our faith and culture today.
He “wanted to fathom the depths of the universe”
The facts of Stephen Hawking’s life read like a novel. He was born on January 8, 1942, exactly three hundred years after the death of Galileo. He did not learn to read until the age of eight. He was never ranked more than halfway up his academic class.
When Hawking was diagnosed with ALS at the age of twenty-one, doctors predicted that he would live only another two years. He survived his disease for fifty-five years. As his body deteriorated, eventually he used a single cheek muscle to control communication devices, writing only a few words a minute.
Nonetheless, he was able to produce groundbreaking scientific work. He was especially known for his explanation of the behavior of black holes. From the beginning of his academic career, Hawking “wanted to fathom the depths of the universe,” seeking to understand “where we came from and why we are here.”
Several times in his autobiography, he states that he had a “satisfying life.” He points to his successful career, the fact that he was married twice and had three “beautiful and accomplished children,” and his global travels and meetings with world leaders.
He concludes his book: “I’m happy if I have added something to our understanding of the universe.”

The newly opened Museum of the Bible in Washington DC said his Bible has joined a collection of other presidential Bibles currently on show.
Trump received the Revised Standard Version (RSV) Bible from his mother as a child and carried it with him to Sunday school classes at First Presbyterian Church in Queens, New York.
According to the museum, upon his graduation from primary Sunday school in 1955, the Bible was inscribed by his pastor and Sunday school teachers.
The Bible is one of two that he rested his hand on when he took oath of office in January 2017.
Museum of the Bible President Cary Summers said it’s an honour to add the Bible to their collection as it’s a piece of American history.
“President Trump’s inauguration Bible will be displayed alongside Bibles belonging to President Harry Truman, President Dwight Eisenhower, President George H.W. Bush and President George W. Bush,” he said.
“It is our hope that guests will be able to learn not only about each president’s unique Bible, but also about the influence this book has had on government and elected officials around the world.”

Holy Week is an important time for Christians and Catholics, and is slated to begin sometime in the last week of this month, as previously announced by the Vatican. This will mark the most important time for Christians and Catholics to celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Given that the schedule of Holy Week varies every year, it is important for the people who practice this tradition to know the schedule in advance so they can plan their week. As reported by Crux, the Holy Week this year will begin with Palm Sunday, which takes place on March 25 — the last week of the month. After that, Holy Thursday will commence on March 29, and Good Friday will follow a day after.
