Tesla Next-Generation Roadster Spotted At Gigafactory

While most Tesla observers are focused on the Model 3, there is definitely more excitement to be had for the company’s next-generation Roadster. The prototype has been undergoing a sort of tour of the company’s facilities in the past few months, the most recent of which was the Gigafactory 1 in Nevada.

An Instagram user by the name of Stephen Roth shared four photos of the red Roadster in the facility’s show area. His post comes just over a month since the car was spotted at the company’s Palo Alto headquarters and Fremont test track.

It should be noted that this isn’t the final product. With a long way to go before 2020, the car could undergo a number of changes before its ready to go into the assembly line. That being said, the car is definitely a head turner.

During the unveiling event back in November, Musk laid out the next-generation Roader’s impressive specs. These included a 200 kilowatt-hour battery, 0-60 mph in 1.9 sec, top speed of 250 miles per hour, and a 620-mile of range.

Pre-orders are currently live, but be warned, it’ll cost an arm and a leg. The automaker is currently taking reservations for the $200,000 base version with an insane $50,000 deposit and for the $250,000 Founders Series for an even more insane $250,000 deposit.

But while the next-generation Roadster is getting all the attention, it’s not the only Tesla vehicle currently on tour. Prototype models of the semi truck due for launch in 2019 have also been spotted around the country. One of these was recently seen driving past the UPS headquarters with a whisper quiet…

Google to Ban Cryptocurrency Related Ads

REUTERS/Dado RuvicA copy of bitcoin standing on PC motherboard is seen in this illustration picture, October 26, 2017.

Google has announced that it is banning all -s about cryptocurrencies, initial coin offerings (ICOs), binary options, or anything related to these starting June.

According to Google, this move is part of a policy update that will put a ban on anything that is financially risky like “Contracts for Difference, rolling spot forex, and financial spread betting.”

According to reports, searching for the term “Bitcoin” on the Google page will show -s of how to buy the cryptocurrency. Currently, those are the top results. Come June, however, no such ad will be seen on the research platform.

Google reminds advertisers that it is very strict with its advertising policy. In a post published on Wednesday, March 14, Google boasted that it removed over 100 bad ads per second in 2017. That is a total of 3.2 billion ads that it deemed violated its advertising policies. “This means we’re able to block the majority of bad ad experiences, like malvertising and phishing scams, before the scams impact people,” wrote Scott Spencer, Google director of sustainable ads.

This new move from Google mirrors a similar policy from Facebook, which banned all kinds of cryptocurrency ads in January. In a blog post, Facebook product management director Rob Leathern explained that the social media platform will no longer allow ads that “promote financial products and services that are frequently associated with misleading or deceptive promotional practices.”

Sexist church culture may be linked to failure to tackle child abuse

Lord Rowan Williams, who held the post from 2002 to 2012, said the Church still has a “mindset”, but not a “dominant ethos”, of being a “close-knit male body of clergy protective of their dignity and authority”.

He made the comments while giving evidence in London on Wednesday afternoon to the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse.

Fiona Scolding QC, the lead lawyer for the Anglican strand of the inquiry, is examining how the Church of England handled allegations of sexual misconduct stretching back to the 1950s, first focusing on the Diocese of Chichester.

She questioned Lord Williams after reading a statement from retired judge Baroness Elizabeth Butler-Sloss (pictured below) who described how she found there was a “culture of denial” about child abuse among police and clergy in Sussex and said the diocese had an “anti-woman culture”.

When asked if he felt safeguarding was affected by sexist and misogynist attitudes, Lord Williams said: “I think that’s possible.”

But he said there was always a “certain resentment and suspicion” of “lay expertise” generally and not just women.

He added: “This may not connect immediately with abusive behaviour towards children but I would see it as part of a wider mindset in which the authority of ordained ministry was beyond criticism.”

Lord Williams said the Church had been…

Understanding the Impact of Community Involvement on Church Health

SUBSCRIBE TODAY: iTunes • RSS • Stitcher • TuneIn Radio • Google Play

Churches are vital to the health of their communities. And if the church isn’t connected to its community, the fault lies on the church, not the community.

Today’s Listener Question:

FROM GUSTAVO

When a church seems content with having no impact in their community and having their members commute from outside the community, what reason can you give them to see the importance of turning that around?

Episode Highlights:

  • A church that does not live in its community is often not involved in its community.
  • The most positive impact on a neighborhood should come from churches in that neighborhood.
  • Don’t resent your community for not responding to your church like they once did.
  • As churches, we are making a poor representation of God when we do not love and reach our communities.
  • Your church is there for the community. The community is not there for your church.
  • Serving Christians are often joyful Christians.

The four critical understandings we discuss are:

  1. Understand the community has changed
  2. Understand the level to which they have been blessed
  3. Understand the community as an opportunity to display love
  4. Understand it is obedience

Resources mentioned in this episode include:

Revitalize & Replant is sponsored by the North American Mission Board and ChurchReplanters.com. More than 10% of churches in North America are at risk of closing and the North American Mission Board is committed to reversing this trend by…

How to Get 3D Printed Home for $10,000

A start-up company unveils its plan to print affordable 3D houses in a bid to help the millions of homeless people around the world.

According to a 2017 report from World Resources Institute’s Ross Center for Sustainable Cities, at least 1.2 billion people around the world do not have shelter. Austin-based start-up ICON wants to change that.

The company announced at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Conference and Festivals that with its new 3D printing technology, it hopes to ease the construction of new houses and make it much more affordable.

ICON showed that it has developed an impressive new method where it can build houses in just 12 to 24 hours, a great fraction of the time needed to build a 650-square-foot house out of cement when using the traditional way. The house, which features a living room, a bedroom, a bathroom, and even a porch, is priced at $10,000.

“It’s much cheaper than the typical American home,” said Jason Ballard, one of ICON’s three founders. ICON hopes to still bring that cost down to as low as $4,000.

The house was built by first creating a schematic of the house and the location. This will then be placed into a computer, which will tell a massive Vulcan printer how and where to place the cement.

ICON, which partnered with non-profit international housing solutions organization New Story, hopes to kick off the project by building 100 houses for the homeless in El Salvador. “We have been building homes for communities in Haiti, El Salvador, and Bolivia,” Alexandria Lafci, co-founder of New Story, said in a statement.

Before going all…
