On a recent Monday at noon in southern India, a pastor’s family in Telangana state noticed motorcycles parked outside their church gate and a gang of young men loudly reading the church banner.

 

The banner of the church in Ramachandrapuram village, Karimngar District, included 2 Cor. 12:9, “My grace is sufficient for you” in Telugu, the language spoken in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, along with a name and phone number, the pastor told Morning Star News.

 

“We thought the youths had come to quench their thirst at the hand-pump,” Pastor Kolhapuri Lachaiah Moses said. “The youths started shouting, ‘Where is the pastor idiot? Who gave you Christians the permission to set up a church here? You Shudras! Idiots! How dare you do Christian activities here?’”

 

Shudras are a low-caste group in India.

 

“I came out running and asked, “What happened, babu? Why are you shouting?” said the 52-year-old father of three. “I could smell the stink of alcohol. They were drunk.”

 

He told them he was the pastor and politely asked them what had happened, he said, but they continued making derogatory caste remarks. His son, Kolhapuri Prabhakar, came out, urged them not to shout and asked what was the matter.

International Christian Concern (ICC) has learned that on March 9 dozens of local authorities forcibly entered the Shangqiu Catholic Church South Cathedral in Henan Province, quarantined the priests and nuns in the building, and started to tear down crosses from the church. 

Without official documentation or notice, the unidentified group occupied the church, secured the doors and shut down electrical power. Frightened and confused, priests at the church called the police to report the intruders. The police, however, took the priests away and confiscated their cell phones. The group then barred the remaining nuns and priests from entering or leaving the site. 

The removal of crosses lasted about five hours despite church staff and volunteers’ efforts to protect the church. A Twitter video shared by Father Francis Liu shows a crane moving a cross from the church roof to the ground.  

According to a Chinese website Catholics Online, the alleged intention of local authorities was to forcibly occupy the church and its property, but they failed to do so and instead went on to remove crosses from the rooftop.

NASHVILLE — Hobby Lobby owners Steve and Jackie Green opened up about the “phenomenal” response they’ve seen from the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C. and revealed they’re just at the “starting line” when it comes to fulfilling their mission of sharing the Gospel around the world.

The Greens, who co-founded the Museum of the Bible, told The Christian Post they’ve been pleasantly surprised by the success of the museum, which has welcomed more than 350,000 visitors ­since its opening in November.

“Two of the common comments that stand out to me is that they didn’t have enough time, many visitors say, because you can spend hours or days in the museum,” Steve Green told CP. “The other is that it exceeded their expectations.”

The term “Bible museum” doesn’t necessarily call to mind something that’s very engaging, he said, but the museum is highly interactive and uses state-of-the-art technology to make exhibits interesting and accessible for entire families.

A Mississippi man has been prohibited from renting out a billboard that he intended to use to display a Bible verse condemning homosexuality.

According to OneNewsNow.com, a gay pride parade was set to take place in the city of Starkville. The city initially refused to allow a permit for the gay pride parade, but then reversed its decision.

In response to this decision, resident Randy Vaughan decided to rent out a billboard to display Isaiah 3:9, which says:

“The look on their faces testifies against them; they parade their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! They have brought disaster upon themselves.”

Vaughan said he was struck by how fitting the verse was for today: “That just floored me when I read that, and I thought, Just like it was then, it’s the same today.”

Vaughan paid $200 to Lamar Advertising to rent out the billboard with the Bible verse. He says the advertising agency initially agreed to his request, but later refused to display the Bible verse.

Lamar Advertising has not offered an explanation of why they refused to rent the billboard out to Vaughan with the Bible verse, but Vaughan says he can guess why they had second thoughts.

Michelle Qureshi, wife of the late Muslim-turned-Christian apologist Nabeel Qureshi, offered words of encouragement to Christians from Muslim backgrounds and shared the three things her late husband would say to recent converts.

After Nabeel Qureshi, a former Muslim who wrote Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus and No God But One, died in September 2017 after a lengthy battle with stomach cancer, his wife has continued his ministry. Recently, she shared a brief message via video to a group of Christians from Muslim backgrounds at a conference held in Bangalore, India. The theme of the conference was “No God But One,” in honor of her husband’s book.
