Meghan Markle baptised in ceremony led by the Archbishop of Canterbury

The American actress is said to have been formally introduced to the Anglican faith as her wedding to Prince Harry draws closer.

The Daily Mail reported that the 45-minute service took place with her husband-to-be in attendance at the Chapel Royal on Tuesday evening.

They are due to wed at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle on 19th May.

The Queen – Harry’s grandmother – is the head of the Church of England.

While the monarch is reported not to have attended the ceremony, guests included the Prince of Wales, according to the Daily Mail.

The Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby is said to have led the service and will marry the couple in May.

The newspaper said holy water from the River Jordan had been poured on the 36-year-old’s head as part of the religious ritual.

It followed reports at the weekend that Ms Markle, who was a member of the Protestant faith and went to a Catholic high school, was due to convert imminently.

Her mother Doria Ragland is Protestant while her father Thomas Markle is Episcopalian.

The decision for Ms Markle to be baptised and confirmed before the wedding will be seen as a nod to the Queen’s strong faith and traditions within the monarchy.

Shortly before her wedding, the Duchess of Cambridge was confirmed.

Kate’s husband the Duke of Cambridge, as a…

Another venue rejects screening Christian ex-gay film

Core Issues Trust (CIT) requested for Voices of the Silenced to be shown in a private invitation-only event at The Queen’s University Belfast.

However, the Christian charity in Northern Ireland said its request was declined “without reason”.

Joan Parsons, Head of Queen’s Film Theatre (QFT) at the university told the charity: “The mission of the Queen’s Film Theatre (QFT) is to widen access to film through the delivery of a varied programme that actively encourages appreciation, enjoyment, debate and understanding.

“In addition, the QFT is committed, through its approved programme, to continue to promote and respect equality, diversity and inclusion.”

It is not clear how the film fails to meet the theatre’s mission.

The film has sparked controversy since it was premiered last month.

Vue Piccadilly cinema scrapped a reservation for the screening of the film, which tells the stories of 15 people “emerging out of homosexual lifestyles” after more than six hundred people signed a petition urging the cinema chain to cancel the private showing, which 125 guests had been due to attend.

However, the premiere went ahead  when producers were offered a conference room at the Emmanuel Centre in Westminster instead.

Challenging the university’s decision, CIT’s CEO Mike Davidson said: “Clearly in Northern Ireland, in line with the rest of the UK, Christian freedom is restricted to…

Tencent Lets Parents Reward Kid’s Good Grades with Game Time

Tencent/Youtube

“Arena of Valor” is coming to the Nintendo Switch.

A new digital contract from gaming company Tencent will allow parents reward their children’s good grades with game time.

Following criticisms that one of Tencent’s popular game in China has been making students focus more on gaming than academic and other responsibilities, the gaming company is launching a new contract that will push kids to use their time wisely while also having more time for the game they love.

In 2015, Tencent released in China the multiplayer online battle “Honor of Kings,” which is so addictive it recorded at least 200 million players monthly, making it among the most famous video games in the world.

While this is good news for Tencent, it became a problem for parents and teachers, who cannot control the children’s addiction to the games. This pushed the company to restrict children less than 12 years of age from playing more than an hour every day.

This, however, did not really stop kids from playing. They tried to get around the age restriction by creating fake online IDs.

A report from Chinese media in August stated that even the country’s military personnel have become addicted to the game. “Over-addiction to mobile phone games is gradually harming the physical and psychological health of soldiers and officers,” said an article from the “People’s Liberation Army Daily.” The article also expressed that their addiction could be a threat to China’s national security.

As a bid to address this, at least for the case of the children, Tencent is making it easier for them to get additional game time for…

‘The Rock’ thanks God after baby’s medical emergency

In an Instagram post to his 100 million followers, the actor said the youngster was taken to hospital in Los Angeles on Saturday, but did not give any more detail on the reason.

“We were up all night in the emergency room, we had something scary that happened with our baby girl Jasmine,” the former WWE star said.

“She’s OK now, thank God, but I just want to say thank you to everybody who was involved, so caring, compassionate and responsive.

“The 911 operator who was on the phone with me, who was extremely calm walking me through some processes, the Los Angeles Fire Department first responders, UCLA medical team and staff, the doctors, the nurses. Again, everybody, thank you everybody so, so much.”

The Baywatch star, 45, said he would never want any other family to go through the same experience, but shared some advice from the incident.

“To all you mommies and daddies out there when emergencies like this happen, I would just highly recommend that you stay as calm and as focused as possible, because our little babies pick up on what we put out especially in times of stress.”

Incidentally, the father-of-two, who is expecting his second daughter with girlfriend Lauren Hashian this spring, recently appealed to his Instagram followers to brush up on their baby first aid.

Johnson said his family and staff were being taught how to respond when babies, children and…
