A United Methodist Church associate pastor in Chattanooga, Tennessee, has lost her pastoral license because of her decision to break denomination’s biblically-based rules and marry a same-sex couple.

St. Elmo United Methodist Church announced to its congregation on Sunday that Anna Golladay, who served as associate pastor, is no longer allowed to work at the church because the UMC district committee on ministry has revoked her license.

“That committee learned that Anna, while serving as local pastor, officiated a same-sex wedding,” the church’s lead Pastor Gary Ihfe wrote in a Facebook post Monday. “The committee decided this was in breach of her covenant to serve as pastor as outlined in the 2016 United Methodist Book of Discipline, and so they rescinded her license.”

As a denomination, the UMC officially holds a Christian view that marriage is a union between only one man and one woman and supports laws in civil society that defines marriage in those terms.

Muslim Leader Encourages Fellow Muslims to Visit Museum of the Bible

Muslim Leader Encourages Fellow Muslims to Visit Museum of the Bible

A Washington, D.C. imam, a Muslim leader, is encouraging his Muslim friends to visit the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C.

The Muslim leader is just one of many different types of people that are visiting the museum and enjoying its exhibits.

The president of the museum, Cary Summers, told media last week at the National Religious Broadcaster’s International Christian Media Convention that the imam visited the museum with his family and later told Summers what he thought of the facility.

“We had one of the imams from one of the mosques in Washington come and spend three hours [at the museum]; he brought his wife and five daughters,” Summers said. “He saw me a week later and he told me that he had been there, which I knew, and I said, ‘What did you think?’ And he said, ‘I’m telling you, every Muslim, they should come to this museum.’”

Summers said that since the museum opened in November 2017, the facility has had more than 340,000 visitors.

“Who’s coming to the museum? The world is coming in. It’s not all evangelical Christians, but people from all over the world,” he said.

“I got a note the other day from a person and she said, ‘While we were there, on our right side were Orthodox Jews walking with us, and on our left side was confessing agnostics. And they were all loving the museum,'” Summers said of the note.

The museum boasts 430,000 square feet…

Top Bishop Issues List, Warns of Power to Destroy

REUTERS/Fabrizio BenschArtificial Intelligence.

A top bishop in the Church of England issued his “Ten Commandments of artificial intelligence,” during a major policy debate in London last week, based on the importance of trust and ethics in the evolving technology.

The Rt. Rev. Steven Croft, the Lord Bishop of Oxford who is a member of the House of Lords Select Committee on artificial intelligence, spoke last week at the Westminster eForum Keynote Seminar, artificial intelligence and Robotics: Innovation, Funding and Policy Priorities.

Croft came up with a 10-point plan following a debate on trust, ethics, and cybersecurity, the Internet of Business website reported, which he presented before government, academics and business representatives from around the world.

The so-called “10 Commandments of AI” begin with the call for AI to be “designed for all, and benefit humanity.”

“AI should operate on principles of transparency and fairness, and be well signposted,” the list continues.

“AI should not be used to transgress the data rights and privacy of individuals, families, or communities.”

Next, it calls for the application of AI to be aimed at reducing “inequality of wealth, health, and opportunity.”

“AI should not be used for criminal intent, nor to subvert the values of our…

Rowan Williams and Richard Dawkins unite in faith schools rethink

A mix of public figures, from the MP Caroline Lucas to several religious figures, have expressed support for the cap remaining.

Currently, faith schools are limited in the number of pupils they can admit who share the religious ethos of the school.

However, the government has committed to lifting the 50 per cent cap in order to encourage faith groups to open new schools.

The issue has divided those within the wider church.

Paul Barber from the Catholic Education Service would prefer the cap to be removed. Speaking on Premier’s News Hour, he said: “We’ve had Catholic schools from the middle of the 19th century and they’ve proved to be a huge force for social integration and social mobility.”

When asked if it was fair to give preferential treatment to Catholic families he said: “The fairness is about trying to respond to parental choice. Our schools are there for those parents who want their children to have a Catholic education and that includes Catholic parents and others.”

Paul Barber added that it gives them priority but doesn’t exclude others.

Wanting the cap to remain is Reverend Steven Terry, Chair of the Accord Coalition.

Again, speaking on Premier’s News Hour, Rev Terry said: “No preferential treatment should be given to those who espouse a faith as opposed who those who do not.

“I mean, if there is any kind of thought that the aim of a church is to win disciples…

‘A Wrinkle in Time’ Actress Storm Reid Says God Called Her into Acting

‘A Wrinkle in Time’ Actress Storm Reid Says God Called Her into Acting

A Wrinkle in Time, the classic children’s book by Madeleine L’Engle, has been made into a major motion picture which will be released in theaters this Friday, March 9th. The 14-year-old star of the film, Storm Reid, identifies as a Christian and said God has called her into acting.

Reid plays the main character of the story, Meg Murry, who embarks on a quest to find her missing father. According to The Christian Post, Reid, who is from Atlanta, Georgia, told her mother, “I wanna be on TV. I wanna be a superstar! Since I know this is my passion and I feel like God chose this career for me, I just knew I was ready to do it.”

Reid also starred in the 2014 best picture film 12 Years a Slave. At only 14, she has already worked with some of Hollywood’s most well-known stars, including Reese Witherspoon and Oprah Winfrey who are her co-stars in A Wrinkle in Time.

She also worked with Christian actor David Oyelowo on the upcoming film Only You. She told Dazed Digital that Oyelowo gave her a “mustard-seed bracelet” with Matthew 17:20 on it.

She explained the significance of this verse: “In the Bible, it’s said that if you have faith as small as a grain of a mustard seed, God will move mountains. It means if you have faith this small then God’s got your back.”

Jesus’ Second Coming Will Be Physical, Millions of Christians Will Have New Bodies

(Screenshot: Facebook/Bible Answer Man)“Bible Answer Man” Hank Hanegraaff in a podcast on March 5, 2018.

“Bible Answer Man” Hank Hanegraaff has said that the Second Coming of Jesus will be physical, with Christ appearing physically to the world.

Hanegraaff, who is president of the Christian Research Institute, responded to a listener’s question on his video podcast uploaded to Facebook on Monday, by declaring that people will definitely know when Jesus returns.

“He (Jesus) will put all things to right. Which is to say, the universe that now groans in travail will be liberated from its bondage [and] decay,” he said, adding that sin and Satan will be defeated.

The listener asked whether Jesus will be walking the streets, to which Hanegraaff responded: “Jesus appears physically — of that there is no doubt. The Christian faith is not platonic, it is physical. That is one of the reasons God used physical objects on this Earth to point to spiritual verities.”

Actor vows to never swear again because of faith

Kayode Ewumi, who became a global meme after his online series #HoodDocumentary, said he was happy to act in the new action comedy because he wouldn’t have to swear.

In an interview with The British Blacklist he explained how he got the role to play Huxley.

“I like Huxley, he’s not killing people, he hasn’t got a knife in his hand. He’s tryna do good in the world, even though he may ask silly questions there’s room for growth.

“Partly to do with my faith, I don’t like to swear in my work…and that’s something that [the casting director] respected. They just allowed me to make it my own. I went for the read through and then I got it.”

BBC Three

While Ewumi’s character in #HoodDocumentary – that was picked up by BBC Three – had scenes where he swore, he said his faith had since evolved.

“I wasn’t that serious in my walk as I am now. I was still getting to know God. Post Hood Doc, and Fire in the Booth I made the conscious decision that I don’t want to swear in my work.

“I also think when it comes to sex and swearing it’s an easy way out, it can be used too much I’m not saying people who swear are wrong, it’s part of life cool, I just think ‘how can I tell a story without swearing?’ Is it needed?”

Asked if he would ever change his mind if the ‘ultimate role offer’ came his way, he said: “I’ve got one of the best agents in the…
