Maryland Church Gives Away Free Cars to Worshipers

(Photo: Greg Davenport)Destiny Church of Columbia, Maryland gives away 5 free cars as part of a raffle held during their worship services on Sunday, March 4, 2018.

A church in Maryland has given away five used cars to worship attendees, reflecting what the congregation describes as being “outrageously generous.”

Destiny Church, a congregation based in Columbia that was founded in 2011, gave away four vehicles at the end of each of their worship services on Sunday, as well as one car to a needy family on Saturday.

Destiny Senior Pastor Stephen Chandler told The Christian Post that the giveaway was part of the celebration for the grand opening to their new permanent worship space. Previously, they had been using a local high school gymnasium.

“One of our founding values as a church is that ‘We Are Outrageously Generous,’ and we strive to live that out in everything we do,” said Chandler.

“We wanted to mark the celebration with an act of generosity that overshadowed the great blessing of the building we…

Pastor Receives Vision from the Lord as He Pays Respects to Billy Graham in US Capitol

Pastor Receives Vision from the Lord as He Pays Respects to Billy Graham in US Capitol

Jared Laskey, the pastor of Destiny Church in Virginia Beach, Virginia, attended the ceremony in the US Capitol Rotunda last Wednesday in honor of the Rev. Billy Graham. While there, Laskey says he received a vision from the Lord.

Laskey shared with . how he and his family were with others in the Capitol Rotunda, worshipping God and quietly praying and thanking God for Graham’s life and work.

Although he had never met Graham, Laskey said he always greatly admired him and his ministry.

While paying his respects, Laskey looked up and saw the beautiful fresco called “Apotheosis of Washington” which is painted on the ceiling of the Rotunda. It was then that he says he received a vision from the Lord.

As he looked up at the fresco, Laskey says: “I was immediately reminded of when Elijah was taken up in the fiery chariot and his cloak fell to the earth in 2 Kings 2. Before the prophet was taken, his student, Elisha, asked for a double portion anointing.

Elisha witnessed when the fiery chariot took up Elijah, and the prophets cloak, or mantle, fell to the earth. Elisha picked up the cloak, and as he carried it back the other prophets saw that the spirit of Elijah rested on Elisha. He now carried the authority and anointing of his predecessor, which was symbolized with him possessing the prophet’s cloak, or mantle.

Harvest Church Pastor Greg Laurie Reveals Secret to Billy Graham’s Evangelistic Success

(Photo: Harvest America)Greg Laurie, pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship, told The Christian Post that Billy Graham, who passed away on February 21 at the age of 99, inspired him to be a “voice to the current generation.”

NASHVILLE — Megachurch pastor Greg Laurie has credited the late Billy Graham’s evangelistic success to his “personal life of obedience and purity” and dedication to being a “lifelong learner.”

Laurie, the pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship who has preached to 4 million people and led more than 400,000 to the Lord, told The Christian Post that Graham, who passed away on Feb. 21 at the age of 99, inspired him to be a “voice to the current generation.”

“I have such a deep affection for him,” Laurie said. “He was more than a great evangelist to me; he was a father figure, and one I had the deepest admiration for. My life and ministry has been deeply impacted by Graham. He was a very approachable, accessible person, and when you were with him he gave you his attention. He always had a genuine interest in people and was the same person both in public and in private.”

Over his decades-long ministry, Graham authored 34 books and shared the Gospel with over 215 million people who attended his evangelistic crusades. Unlike evangelistic leaders before him,…

Over 60,000 Sign Petition to Create National Holiday Honoring Billy Graham

Over 60,000 Sign Petition to Create National Holiday Honoring Billy Graham

Thousands of people have signed a petition calling for a national holiday to honor the Rev. Billy Graham.

Graham, who passed away on February 21st, preached the gospel message to millions of people around the world. He was beloved by many and was certainly one of the top influential people in the 20th century.

Graham has already been honored in the US Capitol last week where the public, as well as government officials, including President Trump and First Lady Melania, came to pay their respects. Over 2,000 people also attended the evangelist’s funeral in Charlotte on Friday, March 2nd.

Now, efforts have gone even further to honor Graham. Fox 8 reports that Kyle Siler started a Change.org petition addressed to President Trump which requests a national holiday to be created in Graham’s honor.

“Lets [sic] get a National Holiday for Billy Graham!! Mr. Graham preached the Gospel to more people in live audiences than anyone else in history… Mr. Graham’s counsel was sought by presidents, and his appeal in both the secular and religious arenas is evidenced by the wide range of groups that have honored him, including numerous honorary doctorates from many institutions in the U.S. and abroad. Help us with our cause of setting a national holiday to remember this great man,” Siler wrote in the petition.

Time will tell if “America’s Pastor” will get his own…

Are Christians Delaying Marriage Because They’re Already Having Sex?

(Photo: Facebook/Screengrab)Francis Chan, a bestselling author who heads We Are Church, speaks at the Facebook headquarters in California, June 22, 2017.

Reformed theologian John Piper is backing best-selling Christian author Francis Chan after a woman, who is single, expressed her frustration with Chan’s argument that many Christian singles are delaying marriage because they are already having sex.

“First, I know Francis Chan, and I am sure if he were with me here, he would say that the reasons people are marrying later are indeed much more diverse and complex than the fact that lots of couples are substituting sex for marriage,” Piper said during an episode of “Ask Pastor John” in response to a listener named Caitlin. “I’m starting with the assumption that Francis was emphasizing a particular factor rather than stating it as the only factor.”

Caitlin, who says that she has been deeply impacted and has profound respect for Chan, said that she had come across a 2015 episode on desiringgod.org where Chan, former pastor of Cornerstone Church in California, attempts to explain why Christians are increasingly postponing marriage.

Chan responded: “I believe that at least 90 percent of those who are postponing marriage are already sleeping together, so they don’t see a…
