After making millions during the Bitcoin craze, many Americans aren’t about to give Uncle Sam what they owe. A new study revealed that only a tiny fraction of Americans reported their cryptocurrency transactions to the IRS.

According to Credit Karma Tax, fewer than 100 of 250,000 federal tax returns filed and prepared by the company have filed a Form 8949 for cryptocurrency gains and losses. This amounts to less than 0.04 percent of filers.

“Generally, Americans with more complex tax situations file later in the tax season, especially if they expect that they’ll owe money,” Credit Karma Tax General Manager Jagjit Chawla said in a statement. “However, given the popularity of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in 2017, we’d expect more people to be reporting.”

Out of the 100 individuals that did report their Bitcoin gains or losses, the company said that only one disclosed a crypto gain or loss big enough to be “significant.” According to Credit Karma Tax, which is a free credit-monitoring startup, 52 percent of its filers this tax season are millennials.

Cryptocurrency investors have had a history of being evasive when it comes to paying taxes on their gains. The IRS was even forced to use Coinbase, one of the biggest cryptocurrency exchanges, for access to customer records after only 802 people reported gains or losses from Bitcoin in 2015.

Battle Royale’ Removing a Weapon This Week

Epic Games announced that it is shuffling the weapons for “Fortnite: Battle Royale” as new items are added to the game. The first victim would be the SMG or submachine gun.

According to Epic Games, this weapon will soon be put to the vault, and will not be available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One users. This means the basic SMG will be out for a while, but players can still use the Tactical SMG and Suppressed SMG.

Game developers said they have a reason for doing this. “As we add more weapons, consumables, and other item types, we want to make sure that the balance of itemization isn’t ruined,” a representative wrote on Reddit. Epic further warned players that more items will be temporarily removed in the future.

“Items will often come back out of the Vault when the timing is right,” the Reddit post continued. Epic did not mention how long it plans to rotate items, whether it would take a few days, weeks, or even months.

With the SMG taking a vacation, “Battle Royale” released a new silent weapon in the form of Crossbow, which has unlimited ammunition. Developers also promised more weapons will be added soon.

These new items should be of great help to players now that “Battle Royale” is getting more alternate game modes following the “50 vs. 50” gameplay it introduced for a limited time last December.

A parenting conference set for April on how to keep children safe featuring embattled Highpoint Church Teaching Pastor Andy Savage, has been quietly canceled following his confession last month that he had a sexual encounter with a 17-year-old girl while he was her pastor 20 years ago.

It is unclear how many tickets for the event had been sold previously but the #7000 Days Conference announced the cancellation last Wednesday and promised to refund payments made by early registrants in a few business days.

The concept behind the annual conference spearheaded by Savage is that parents only have 7,000 days with their children “from crib to college.”

“We are sorry to inform you that the 7000DAYS Conference which was scheduled for April 20-21 has been canceled. I know that many of you are excited about this event. And while this decision wasn’t taken lightly, we feel this is the best decision at this time. However, please know that everyone here at 7000Days and Highpoint Church is still committed to helping parents throughout your 7000DAYS journey,” said a statement from the conference’s Facebook page managed by pastor and marketing representative for Highpoint Church, Bart Lewis.

Topic: The Compassionate Prosecutor [Open Heavens 15 Thursday February 2018]

7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

9 Of sin, because they believe not on me;

10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;

11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

MESSAGE

Looking at the title of today’s Bible study, you may begin to wonder how a person can prosecute a case and be compassionate at the same time. This is ironic because a prosecutor is expected to press the case for the law to have its full course. Who then is this prosecutor who manages to indict and show compassion all at once? The Lord Jesus Christ answers this question in today’s memory verse. The person He refers to is the Holy Spirit. Based on the revelation of the Lord, let us consider the three-pronged strategy by which the Holy Spirit carries out His assignment of prosecuting the world. Note first of all that it is compassion that motivates the Holy Spirit to prosecute the world while there is still time to make amends. A time will come when the whole world will stand before the throne of Christ to be judged of all their works (2 Corinthians 5:10). There will be no excuse permitted on that day, because the Compassionate Prosecutor would have already given each man a dress rehearsal of what will happen in heaven’s court.

The first of the Holy Spirit’s three-pronged strategy is to make the world aware of the destructive nature of sin and cause each and everyone to run away from it. This is why those who preach the gospel must allow the Holy Spirit to use them to read the “riot act” to their audience and not shy away from the reality of the pending doom that awaits those who will not believe in or accept the only Savior of mankind. The early disciples allowed the Holy Spirit to do this work through them and a sample of the result is glaring in Acts 2:37:

“Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?”

The second arm of His strategy is to make the world see the need to be upright in heart, and the need to be in right standing with the righteous God through the Mediator of the new covenant, Jesus Christ. Thirdly the Holy Spirit works to make the world aware of the judgment and punishment that awaits the devil and his cohorts. He does this so that men may be wary of listening to the devil and avoid being condemned along with him. The Compassionate Prosecutor speaks truth to all those who will listen and be free from the eternal consequences of God’s judgment (John 16:13, John 8:32). How friendly are you with the Holy Spirit? Do you only love Him because He comforts you in times of distress or do you still love Him when He probes into your life and reproves you? I encourage you to make the Holy Spirit your Senior Partner, Guide, Mentor and Confidant; He will never lead you astray.

Prayer Point: Compassionate Holy Spirit, please strongly reprove the people in my locality of sin, of righteousness and of judgment, and let Your work of conviction have free course in their hearts in Jesus’ Name.
