Scripture: And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things,…and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark. Genesis 7:23

Thought For The Day: God has already programmed your life to be different.

It has been established that God has an exemption and distinction plan for His people. This implies that we, as God’s children, are not permitted to experience the calamity the rest of the world is facing.

It has been said that example is the best way to communicate principles. So, it is good to look at the scriptural example of a person that God exempted and distinguished from others in his generation. This will reveal to us what God has purposed concerning us as His people. We are looking at Noah.

God exempted and distinguished Noah and his family from the world (Genesis 6:5-9). When the world was set for destruction, the Bible says, but Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord (Genesis 6:8).

The flood was sinking people but Noah was sailing on that same flood. Everyone sank and died but Noah and his family were lifted up and preserved. It confirms what Job 22:29 said, ‘When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up.

Everyone else may be suffering calamity and poverty, people may say that ministries do not succeed where you are or that people from your family do not marry on time, etc., but the truth is, God has already programmed your life to be different.

In Genesis 6:17-18, the Bible says, And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, …But with thee will I establish my covenant;…

No devil is devilish enough, no witch is witchy enough to cross the ‘But’ in God’s Word concerning your life; No ancestral curse or family covenant can cross the ‘But’ in the Scripture above concerning your life. It means you are exempted from the negative climate of the world.

Today, I announce that where everyone else experiences disfavour, you will be favoured.

Remember this: God has already programmed your life to be different.

Assignment (S):

1. Endeavour to be in the Will of God per time.

2. Always believe and confess that your case is different.

3. Be committed to covenant practices like tithing, giving, etc.

Topic: Stepping Into Opportunity [Our Daily Bread 2nd Friday February, 2018]

Read: Colossians 4:2–6, Bible in a Year: Exodus 29–30; Matthew 21:23–46

Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Colossians 4:5

Like lots of people, I struggle to get enough exercise. So I recently got something to motivate myself to move: a pedometer that counts steps. It’s a simple thing. But it’s amazing how much difference this gadget makes in my motivation. Instead of grumbling when I have to get off the couch, I see it as an opportunity to get a few more steps. Mundane tasks, like getting one of my kids a cup of water, become opportunities that help me work toward a larger goal. In that sense, my pedometer has changed my perspective and my motivation. Now I look to get extra steps in whenever possible.

I wonder if our Christian life isn’t a bit like that. There are opportunities to love and serve and interact with people every day, as Paul exhorts in Colossians 4:5. But am I always aware of those moments? Am I paying attention to opportunities to be an encourager in seemingly mundane interactions? God is at work in the lives of every person I relate to, from my family and coworkers to a clerk at the grocery store. Each interaction offers a chance for me to pay attention to what God might be doing—even if it’s something as seemingly “small” as kindly asking a server at a restaurant how she’s doing.

Who knows how God might work in those moments when we’re alert to the opportunities He sends our way.

Prayer: Lord, there are so many opportunities to love, listen, and serve those around us each day. Please help us to become people who notice the needs of others.

Take every opportunity to serve someone.

Insight:

Paul’s normal pattern for writing letters to churches is well evidenced in this epistle to the Colossians. That pattern calls for the first half of the book to be primarily theological in nature, with the remainder providing practical application of that doctrinal teaching. The first two chapters of Colossians describe the relationship between Christ, the head of the church; and the church, the body of Christ. Chapters 3–4 then give the practical outworking of those realities. In today’s Scripture reading, we find clear counsel on how to live and function as the church body. This includes the need for intercessory prayer (vv. 2–3) and the importance of personal testimony, which includes graciously using the opportunities God gives us (vv. 5–6). This is wise counsel that is still needed today. Bill Crowder

Topic: Thank You, Lord [Kenneth and Gloria Copeland, Friday January 2nd, 2018]

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. – 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Notice that this scripture instructs us to give thanks in all things, not for all things. When tragedy or temptation strikes, we are not to thank God for them. He is not their author. He’s the One who provides our way of escape from them. And that’s what we’re to thank Him for.

If you read the four Gospels, you’ll find that Jesus never gave thanks for sickness or death. Instead, when He encountered them, His response was to overcome them by God’s power. So give thanks as Jesus gave thanks—not for Satan’s activities but for the victory God has given you over them.

Topic: Life Is Eternal [Billy Graham’s Daily Friday February 2nd, 2018]

In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began. — Titus 1:2

Life is a glorious opportunity, if it is used to condition us for eternity. If we fail in this, though we succeed in everything else, our life will have been a failure. There is no escape for the man who squanders his opportunity to prepare to meet God. Our lives are also immortal. God made man different from the other creatures. He made him in His own image, a living soul. When this body dies and our earthly existence is terminated, the soul lives on forever. One thousand years from this day, you will be more alive than you are at this moment. The Bible teaches that life does not end at the cemetery. There is a future life with God for those who put their trust in His Son, Jesus Christ.

Prayer for the day: Thank You for the eternal life in Christ and for the peace that comes over me because of this triumphant promise! Today help me relay this joyous news to those around me.

Topic: There Is A Righteous Anger [Andrew Wommack’s Daily Friday February 2nd, 2018]

John 2:15, “And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers’ money, and overthrew the tables.”

Text: John 2:12-14

Jesus brought the message of “love your enemies” to the world and demonstrated it in such a way that some people have forgotten instances like this when Jesus showed anger. Anger can also be a godly emotion.

Ephesians 4:26, tells us to “be angry and sin not”. This means there is a righteous type of anger which is not sin. This is why we are told to hate evil (Ps. 45:7; 119:104, 163; Pro. 8:13; Rom. 12:9).

Ephesians 4:26, goes on to say, “Let not the sun go down upon your wrath”. That doesn’t mean that it’s alright to be angry during daylight as long as we repent by nightfall. Rather, it is speaking of this righteous type of anger. We are never to let it rest. Don’t ever put it to bed, but keep yourself stirred up against the things of the devil.

The key to distinguishing between a righteous anger and a carnal anger is to discern our motives and the object of our anger. Godly anger is directed at the devil with no consideration of self. If we are angry with people, it’s carnal (Eph. 6:12). And if our motivation is self-serving, then it’s wrong.
