We might never have had the songs of Fanny Crosby had she not been afflicted with blindness. George Matheson would never have given the world his immortal song, “O Love That Will Not Let Me Go,” had it not been for his passing through the furnace of affliction. The “Hallelujah Chorus” was written by George Frederick Handel when he was poverty-stricken and suffering from a paralyzed right side and right arm. Affliction may be for our edification and Christian development. Sickness is one of the “all things” which work together for good to them that love God. Don’t resent it. Don’t be embittered by it.

Prayer for the day: You do not make mistakes, Father. If sorrow comes into my life, let me use it to help others know about You.

Successful people have two things on their lips,”SMILE and SILENCE.’’A Smile can solve problems while Silence can avoid problems.

Sugar and salt may be mixed together but ants reject the salt and carry away only the sugar. Select the right people in life and make your life better and sweeter. If you fail to achieve your dreams, change your ways but not your God. Remember, trees change their leaves and not their roots. You will never reach your destination if you stop and throw stones at every that dog barks. Haters will see you walking on water and say it is because you can’t swim.

Even if you dance on water, your enemies will accuse you of raising dust. Make it your ambition to live a quiet life, to mind your own business and to work with your own hands. Remember; don’t ever wrestle with a pig. You’ll both get dirty but the pig will enjoy it. I remember vividly now what Ray Go forth said: ‘’there are two types of people who will tell you that you cannot make a difference in this world: those that are afraid that you will try and those that are afraid that you will succeed.’’  Never give up.

Today’s scripture (NIV) says: ‘’be very careful, then, how you live – not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the e days are evil. Topic: Understanding – The Mother Of Greatness [Seeds of Destiny Thursday February 1st, 2018]

Scripture: When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up…. Job 22:29

Thought For The Day: What is not understood is never pursued.

Our anchor Scripture communicates the fact that God exempts and distinguishes His people in the midst of terrible situations of the world.

Beloved, it is critical to understand the exemption and distinction plan God has for His people. Now, why is the understanding of God’s exemption plan necessary?

1. Understanding births pursuit. What is not understood is never pursued. Elisha pursued Elijah because he (Elisha) understood that Elijah was about to be taken up to heaven and there was something with Elijah that he needed – the mantle.

2. Understanding brings success. Any area where understanding is available, success is effortless. Students excel in school when they understand the subjects. On the other hand, other students fail due to lack of understanding of the subjects.

3. Understanding fuels faith. Faith comes by hearing and understanding the Word (Romans 10:17). The understanding of God’s program of exemption and distinction for His people is needed so that our faith can come alive to pursue it.

4. Understanding makes for outstanding existence. Understanding makes people stand out in life; it makes people shine in what they do (Isaiah 60:1).

5. Understanding brings triumph; it brings victory in life and destiny (John 1:5).

Beloved, the truth is, the darker the night, the brighter the glory of light. By virtue of light from God’s Word, I decree that you will not be aware of the darkness in the world; when men say they are cast down, you shall say there is a lifting up, in Jesus’ Name.

Remember This: What is not understood is never pursued.

Topic: God Is Not Cheap! [Andrew Wommack’s Daily Thursday February 1st, 2018]

John 2:6, “And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.”

Text: John 2:1-11

God has been represented as a God who is on a tight budget and who disapproves of us asking for anything more than just the necessities. However, this first miracle of Jesus disproves that.

Scholars suggest that a firkin was equal to about nine U.S. gallons. This would mean that six of these water pots would hold 162 gallons of wine. That’s a lot of wine!

In a similar instance when Jesus was asked to provide food for the multitude, He once again supplied more than the need (Mt. 14:15-21; Mk. 6:33-44; Lk. 9:11-17).

These examples show the Lord’s willingness to meet our needs with plenty to spare. God is not cheap!

Today, don’t limit God to barely meeting your needs. If you have enough, then believe for extra so that you can bless someone else. “Let God be magnified, who has pleasure in the prosperity of His servants” (Ps. 35:27).

Topic: Hit Him With the Rock [Kenneth and Gloria Copeland, Thursday February 1st, 2018]

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. – Psalm 23:1-2

Have you ever thought about David and wondered how a shepherd boy could become a man after God’s own heart—a man so strong in spirit that God chose him to be king of Israel? I have.

In fact, I asked God about it, and He showed me that revelation was what turned David into such a spiritual powerhouse—revelation that came to him through hours of thinking about the things of God. I imagine the day he wrote Psalm 23 he was just sitting and singing praises to God and meditating on His goodness. Just fellowshipping with Him when suddenly the anointing of the Lord came upon him and he said, “The Lord is my Shepherd!”

Suddenly he thought about the sheep he watched over as a boy, I faced death for those sheep. I led them where pastures were green and waters were cool, clean, deep, and peaceful. He kept on meditating on that until it started to thrill him. When the lion and the bear came, didn’t He prepare a table before me in the presence of those enemies? He gave me victory. My God! My God will fight for me. The Lord is my Shepherd! I shall not want!

That revelation welled up in David so strong that the devil couldn’t beat it out of him. So when Goliath tried to make a fool out of Israel, David went after him. Goliath was able to scare off everyone else, but he couldn’t shake David because he had a revelation inside him that said, Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for my God is with me. That revelation enabled David to say, “I come against you in the name of the Lord of Hosts” and to send a rock sailing into that giant’s brain.

Is the devil out to destroy you? Do what David did. Meditate on God and His Word. Sing praises to your King. Fellowship with Him until the revelation of who He is in you starts to thrill your soul. Then tell the devil, “You’re not going to kill me. The Lord is my Shepherd!” Hit him with the rock of revelation knowledge, and you’ll knock him flat every time.

Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Matthew 21:9

When an advertiser altered a photo of Michelangelo’s famous marble sculpture of the biblical hero David, Italy’s government and gallery officials objected. Picturing David with a military rifle slung over his shoulder (instead of his slingshot) would be a violation—“like taking a hammer to it or worse,” a cultural official said.

In first-century Jerusalem, David was remembered as the shepherd-songwriter and soldier-king of Israel’s fondest memories and greatest hopes. Prophets foretold that David’s descendant would finally defeat the enemies of Israel. So, centuries later, when crowds welcomed Jesus as the Son of David (Matthew 21:6–9), they were expecting Him to lead the revolt that would overthrow their Roman occupiers. Instead Jesus knocked over the tables of temple money-changers to restore His Father’s house as a house of prayer for all nations. Israel’s leaders were furious. This wasn’t the kind of Messiah and Son of David they were looking for. So without realizing what they were doing, they called for Roman executioners to take a hammer to the hands and feet of the true glory of Israel.

Instead of stopping them, Jesus let Himself be lifted up on a cross of shame—defaced and disgraced. Only by resurrection would it be known that the true Son of David had defeated His enemies with love and enlisted the children of all nations to spread the word.

Prayer: Father in heaven, it’s hard to admit. But it’s true. We get so confused. We try to protect the images we love more than the love You consider priceless.

Jesus shows that God is always better than our expectations.

Insight:

Establishing Jesus as the Son of David is critical to Matthew’s gospel account. He begins his gospel by saying, “This is the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah the son of David, the son of Abraham.” This description traces Jesus’s lineage through Joseph back to David and beyond. Additionally, in Matthew’s gospel Jesus is called the Son of David by two blind men (9:27), a Canaanite woman (15:22), and two more blind men (20:30–31). Since the theme of Matthew’s gospel is that Jesus is the King of the Jews and Matthew’s primary audience was the Jewish people, it was important for Jesus to be identified as the Son of David and heir to David’s throne. Jesus’s royal identity makes it all the more tragic that the response of the mob at His cross mocked Him as King of the Jews (27:29, 42) instead of placing their trust in Him.
