Manchester, UK City Council Considers Restricting Pro-life Protests

Pro-life advocates in the city of Manchester in the UK are speaking out against a law that would prevent anti-abortion protesters from coming near an abortion clinic in the city.

According to The Christian Institute, the measure would institute a mandatory buffer zone between the abortion clinics and protesters. The Manchester City Council has said it will “take all necessary actions within its powers” to ensure that people cannot protest near the Marie Stopes clinic in Fallowfield.

The motion has already passed in the City Council, and public consultations will now be held.

Antonia Tully, Director of Campaigns for the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children (SPUC), said that the City Council is taking action under the false pretenses that anti-abortion protesters have not been civil and respectful.

“Manchester City Council is repeating the false and evidence-free claims made by Ealing Council that ‘harassment and intimidation’ are taking place at peaceful pro-life vigils,” stated Tully.

In fact, John Marechal of the SPUC added that the pro-life advocates were not even engaged in protests at all, but were simply holding peaceful vigils.

“Local people simply pray quietly and offer help to any woman approaching the abortion clinic who wants support and advice,” he said.

VANCOUVER – More than 10,000 people attended Missions Fest 2018 this past weekend, where one of the main speakers shared about the devastating effect that a popular atheist book had on a young Christian student.

Alycia Wood, a speaker with Ravi Zacharias International Ministries, spoke with theologian and church planter Michael Goheen on Friday during the opening session of Canada’s largest missions conference.

Wood reflected on a story of a young man, Jesse Kilgore, who had given up his faith in college after he was encouraged to read The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins.

“It broke him so much he decided it wasn’t worth living anymore and he took his life,” she said.

But the sad part, Wood said, are the claims made by Dawkins are easily refuted.

The good news of Christianity is that God did not only say He is loving, but that He showed it.

“With the Gospel that Jesus gives us, we can say, ‘God doesn’t just say He loves you. God shows His love for you in the greatest possible way,'” she said. “The Gospel…

Hillary Clinton Reportedly Shielded Faith Advisor Accused of Sexual Harassment

Hillary Clinton Reportedly Shielded Faith Advisor Accused of Sexual Harassment

Hillary Clinton said she is “proud” of the woman who came forward and accused Clinton’s 2009 faith advisor of sexual harassment.

“A story appeared today about something that happened in 2008. I was dismayed when it occurred, but was heartened the young woman came forward, was heard, and had her concerns taken seriously and addressed,” tweeted Clinton.

“I called her today to tell her how proud I am of her and to make sure she knows what all women should: we deserve to be heard.”Clinton had been accused of protecting her faith adviser, Burns Strider, after the incident.

According to The New York Times, four people who were familiar with the incident said Clinton’s campaign manager recommended that Clinton fire Strider, but she did not.

Instead, Strider’s pay was deducted for several weeks and he had to undergo counseling. Strider, however, did not attend the counseling. The woman was moved to a new job.

For Clinton’s 2016 bid for the White House, Strider was hired to lead an independent group that supported Clinton’s candidacy. The group was called Correct the Record.

In that role, Strider was fired after allegations that he had harassed a young female aid. The woman told a campaign official that Strider had rubber her shoulders inappropriately, kissed her on the forehead and sent her several suggestive emails.

Critics of Clinton say…

Atheism Can’t Support a Happy and Consistent Life

(Screenshot: YouTube / Wycliffe College at the University of Toronto)Philosopher and apologists William Lane Craig speaks at Wycliffe College in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on Jan. 26, 2018.

Christian apologist and author William Lane Craig claimed that people cannot live “consistently and happily” if they uphold an atheist worldview, arguing that in a world without God, there is no meaning, value or significance to life.

Last Friday, Wycliffe College, a theological graduate school federated with the University of Toronto, hosted a forum on “The Meaning of Life,” in which Craig, a research professor of philosophy at Talbot School of Theology and professor of philosophy at Houston Baptist University, was invited to give a 30-minute address and participate in a discussion.

With the event also featuring remarks from naturalist philosopher Rebecca Newberger Goldstein and controversial University of Toronto professor of psychology Jordan Peterson, Craig kicked off the discussion with his thoughts.

Craig, who has authored several books including Reasonable Faith: Christian Truth and Apologetics, compared what he considered a “meaningful” Christian theist view on life with an atheistic view of life.

“Confronted with the human predicament, the only solution the atheist can offer is that we simply face the absurdity of life and live bravely,” Craig said. “The fundamental problem with the solution, however, is that it is impossible to live consistently and happily within the framework of such a worldview. If you live consistently, you will not be happy. If you live happily. It is only because you are…

Open Heavens 30th January 2018: Tuesday daily devotional by Pastor Adeboye – A Godly Role Model?

Open Heavens 30th January 2018: Tuesday daily devotional by Pastor Adeboye – A Godly Role Model?

Topic: A Godly Role Model? [Open Heavens Tuesday 30th January 2018]

Memorise: “Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.” – 1 Corinthians 11:1

Read: Philippians 3:7-14 (KJV)

7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.

8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,

9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.

12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Bible in One Year: Exodus 15-16, Romans 5

MESSAGE

A role model is one who influences others to be like him or her. While there are godly role models, there are also ungodly ones who influence their followers to make choices that will lead them to the pit of hell. Today, we are reflecting on godly role models, and the Lord is asking you this question: “Are you a godly role model?” Apostle Paul was so sure of himself and his position in Christ that he was bold enough to challenge those within his sphere of influence to imitate him as he himself imitated the Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 11:1).

From our Bible text today, we can learn some things about Apostle Paul which mirror the principles and life of our Lord Jesus Christ. The first of these is a lifestyle of godliness. Paul said that all he was after in life is the prize of the high calling of God in Christ. Secondly, to learn how to please God, he wanted to know more about Christ, including the power of His resurrection, what it meant to share in His sufferings and how to be like Him in death. Thirdly, he was relentless, not only in keeping himself pure but also in labouring for the harvest of lost souls. Fourthly, for the greatness of knowing the Lord Jesus Christ, he forsook all his worldly achievements and followed after Christ. This attitude mirrors the life of his Master, who left His glory in heaven and take up the image of a servant on earth. He humbled Himself so much that He even laid down His life for all mankind (Philippians 2:5-8).

This lesson should challenge the Body of Christ in these end-times. I have observed that some pastors are not so mindful of where members of their congregation will end the Christian race. This is evident in the type of sermon they preach: messages that play on human emotions and nothing more. Concerning such pastors, Apostle Paul has this to say:

“17 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample. 18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: 19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)” – Philippians 3:17-19

What a role model of the Christian faith we have in Apostle Paul! You will be wise to have such a godly driven personality as an influence in your life.

Action Point: In your private study, examine the life of Paul and pray that God will give you the grace to manifest the virtues you desire in his life.

Hymn 12: Take My Life, And Let It Be

1.Take my life and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee.
Take my moments and my days,
Let them flow in endless praise,
Let them flow in endless praise.

2.Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love.
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee,
Swift and beautiful for Thee.

3.Take my voice and let me sing,
Always, only for my King.
Take my lips and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee,
Filled with messages from Thee.

4. Take my silver and my gold,
Not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect and use
Every pow’r as Thou shalt choose,
Every pow’r as Thou shalt choose.

5. Take my will and make it Thine,
It shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart, it is Thine own,
It shall be Thy royal throne,
It shall be Thy royal throne.

6. Take my love, my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee,
Ever, only, all for Thee.

Flatimes’ Notice Board: Please do not prolong your salvation if you have not repented. Many are going home daily and tomorrow maybe too late.

Conservative Christian Singer Joy Villa Wears Pro-life Dress to Grammy Awards

Conservative Christian Singer Joy Villa Wears Pro-life Dress to Grammy Awards

Conservative Christian singer Joy Villa made a bold statement at last evening’s Grammy Awards by wearing a dress with a pro-life message.

Villa’s dress was white and featured a painting of an unborn child in a womb that was painted all the colors of the rainbow. She also carried a handbag that said “Choose Life.”

According to LifeNews.com, the painting on Villa’s dress was modeled after her own daughter.

“I’m a pro-life woman. This year I chose to make a statement on the red carpet like I always do,” Villa told Fox News. “I’m all about life.”

“I’m incredibly blessed to have given life, and I hope to encourage anyone in a similar situation to choose adoption,” she continued.

“I believe in loving the child and the mother, and I am proudly #ProLife. There is so much pain out there, but I choose to spread love and hope. I hand painted my @pronovias gown with a hand painted (by me) recreation of my daughter portrait I painted in 2007 at 20 years old 8 months pregnant with my beautiful daughter, whom I adopted out to a wonderful family.”

Villa was in an abusive relationship when she found out she was pregnant, but although she was scared and overwhelmed, she chose life for her daughter.

Last year, Villa wore a red, white, and blue dress with the words “Make America great again” printed down the front.

Star Wars fans urged to keep Sabbath holy

Placards urging cinema goers to keep the day holy were held as the first ever film was shown in a public cinema on the island off the west of Scotland.

Rev David Fraser from the Free Church of Scotland (Continuing) was joined by a woman to protest the showing of “The Last Jedi” at the An Lanntair arts venue in Stornoway.

He told Premier why he decided to take a stand.

Speaking during Premier’s News Hour, he said: “There’s constant pressure because we’re going against the modern trend of excluding God and excluding Christianity and excluding Jesus more and more from life and conversations and values…”

All 183 tickets were sold out for the latest instalment of the space opera franchise.

Rev Fraser said he would continue protesting if other businesses on the island also decided to open on Sundays.

Premier contacted An Lanntair for a response.

A spokesperson said: ” An Lanntair has a strong commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, and to opening up access for all to the arts.

“Over recent months we have carried out some consultation, which has highlighted some interest from our audiences and members in Sunday opening.

“As a result, our board of directors agreed to run a trial to further this research and explore and inform demand.

“It should be noted that this continues to be an audience research exercise at this stage, the Sunday trial events will help inform our…
