Federal Judge Rules DACA Must be Reinstated

Federal Judge Rules DACA Must be Reinstated

A California federal judge has decided the Trump administration must reinstate former President Barack Obama’s DACA program, which granted amnesty to some illegal immigrants.

San Francisco-based U.S. District Court judge William Alsup said the Trump administration must restart the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program. The ruling said that the U.S. could exclude any new enrollments, however.

It’s unclear when DACA recipients can resume applying for renewals of work permits.

“They can’t go back and renew today,” said Marielena Hincapié, executive director of the National Immigration Law Center. “We expect there to be a lot of confusion in communities about what that means.”

In response, the White House said the decision was “outrageous.”

“An issue of this magnitude must go through the normal legislative process,” said White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders. “President Trump is committed to the rule of law, and will work with members of both parties to reach a permanent solution that corrects the unconstitutional actions taken by the last administration.”

Trump had said he would end DACA after six months to give Congress the chance to pass legislation that would protect the “Dreamers,” or DACA program members.

But this week, he also said that he would sign a bill to grant amnesty to the DACA program recipients if Republicans and Democrats…

North Korea Tops 2018 Open Doors World Watch List; Islamic Extremism Expands at Alarming Rate

North Korea Tops 2018 Open Doors World Watch List; Islamic Extremism Expands at Alarming Rate

North Korea claims the No. 1 spot on the 2018 Open Doors World Watch List—an annual ranking of the 50 countries where Christians face the most persecution. With more than 50,000 people in prison or labor camps, such a ranking is little surprise for the totalitarian regime that controls every aspect of life in the country and forces worship of the Kim family.

But the new report reveals an alarming trend as countries driven by Islamic extremism, such as Afghanistan (No. 2), reach persecution levels rivaling those in North Korea. Of the 50 countries on the Open Doors World Watch List, 30 saw an increase in persecution during the reporting period.

Within the countries on the Open Doors World Watch List, approximately 215 million Christians experience high, very high or extreme persecution. Trends show that countries in Africa, Asia and the Middle East are intensifying persecution against Christians, and perhaps the most vulnerable are Christian women, who often face double persecution for faith and gender.

Every day six women are raped, sexually harassed or forced into marriage to a Muslim under threat of death due to their Christian faith. The 2018 Open Doors World Watch List documented 2,260 such incidences against women—a number that only covers those who had the courage to report such an incident, and is estimated to be a mere fraction of those…

10 worst countries to be a Christian

Revised yearly, the list ranks the 50 countries where Christians face the most extreme persecution based on restrictions on private, family, community, national and church life, as well as the number of violent acts.

Here are the top ten:

1. North Korea

2. Afghanistan

3. Somalia

4. Sudan

5. Pakistan

6. Eritrea

7. Libya

8. Iraq

9. Yemen

10. Iran

North Korea has topped the list again as the most dangerous place for Christians to live.

Around 70,000 Christians are believed to be in labour camps after being caught worshipping.

A crackdown on Christianity also worsened last year in the secretive state due to the North Korean regime monitoring the border with China closely and raiding safe houses where Christian converts have sought refuge.

Top 50 countries for persecuted Christians

As well as expressing deepening concern for Christians in North Korea, Open Doors has also drawn attention to believers in Egypt and Turkey after “unprecedented levels of persecution and suppression”.

Egypt was placed 17th on the new Open Doors World Watch List nine places higher than its ranking 2014.

Turkey, which did not appear on the Open Doors World Watch List in 2014, entered the ranking in 2015 (ranked 41st), before rising to 31st in 2018.

Open Doors UK and Ireland CEO Lisa Pearce said the Christians in both countries are resilient despite extreme discrimination and intimidation.

She said: “It is hard for us here in the UK and…

Pastor Says Christian Parents Can Guarantee Their Children Will Go to Heaven; Expert Disagrees

Expand | Collapse
(Photo: Facebook)

In his new book, How to Guarantee Your Children Will Go to Heaven, youth pastor and Christian comedian the Rev. Jamar Haynes Lee says he was given a message by God to show Christians how they can guarantee their children make it to heaven.

“First, we need to understand that we can ensure our children will get saved and live saved lives. I know this goes against mainstream theology, but that is what makes this message revolutionary. Test it by the Spirit and by the Word of God, as well as by your mind. God would not tell us to ‘bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord’ if we were not able,” Lee says in the opening of the book.

He launches into multiple verses from the Bible that promises salvation to those who embrace their guidance.

Proverbs 22: 6, which says, “Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it” is among them.

(Photo: Facebook)Rev. Jamar Haynes Lee with his new book, ‘How to Guarantee Your Children Will Go to Heaven.’

“Proverbs 22:6 has had a lot of controversy over whether it is a promise or a probability. God called me to preach that it is a promise, and everyone who follows the steps in this book will receive that promise,” Lee says.

He argues in the book that many Christians raised in the church as children have been abandoning their faith because they were not properly trained.

“The Lord told me that one major problem in the church is that we are not giving our children daily bread. Even though this is one of the most well-known passages quoted in the Bible, the majority of the body…

Priest accuses West of profiting from DRC crisis

Fr Apollinaire Cikongo, executive secretary of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Kananga, told Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) that the international community was guilty of “a conspiracy of silence that is very profitable economically”.

John Pontifex from ACN told Premier the priest told the charity details about corruption in the mining of coltan, an ore that is used in smartphone batteries and computers.

He said there was merit in the priest’s claims.

He added: “The understanding from Fr Cikongo and others is that the terms of the deals that have been struck with regard to the mining of this particular iron metallic ore is such that it disadvantages the local communities.”

Civil wars and militia conflicts have plagued the Republic of Congo claiming up to six million lives.

Pontifex told Premier what steps are needed to restore peace in the country.

“It’s important that people have faith in the political process and that faith seems to be critically undermined by the situation in which the President is accused of outstaying his welcome in terms of remaining in power there,” Pontifex added.

Joseph Kabila, 46, is the country’s president and Africa’s youngest head of state, despite having ruled for 17 years.

This month, the United Nations human rights office condemned the violent response by government security forces in the DRC against people protesting the refusal of President Kabila to…

Open Heavens 11 January 2018: Thursday daily devotional by Pastor Adeboye – Help From Above

Open Heavens 11 January 2018: Thursday daily devotional by Pastor Adeboye – Help From Above

Topic: Help From Above [Open Heavens Thursday 11th January 2018]

Memorise: My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. – Psalm 121:2

Read: Psalm 121:1-8 (KJV)

1 (A Song of degrees.) I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

2 My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.

3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.

4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.

5 The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.

6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.

7 The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.

8 The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.

Bible in One Year: Genesis 25-26, Revelation 9:20-10:11, Hymn: Sing Hymn 10: My Faith Looks Up To Thee

MESSAGE:

Not many people know that the surest source of help is the God of heaven and earth, and for this reason, so many people struggle for a very long time without having anything to show for their efforts. No wonder wise King Solomon, in Psalm 127:1, confessed thus:

“Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.”

If you have been struggling all your life, with little or nothing to show for it, your struggles have come to an end today in Jesus’ Name. One struggle a lot of people battle with throughout their lifetime is the struggle against the power of sin. Apostle Paul, before coming to the knowledge of the saving grace in the Lord Jesus Christ, found himself in this situation. In Romans 7:24, he bemoaned his spiritual condition, saying,

“O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?”

The good news is that Paul found help from above and he is today, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, numbered among the saints. The same Jesus who did it for Paul can do it for you. The Lord is telling you to look up to Him for that help you seek, because looking elsewhere is an exercise in futility. The Lord Himself will send help from above to you today in Jesus’ Name. The Saviour who helped the woman caught in adultery to come out of her state of spiritual hopelessness, will set you free from the power of sin and empower you to sin no more in Jesus’ Name (John 8:3-11).

Beloved, let Jesus help you. He is calling you today, saying,

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” – Matthew 11:28

For you to receive help from above, you need to answer His call as matter of urgency. You can do this by surrendering your life to Him. You must stop relying on your own ability and stop trusting in the arm of flesh (Jeremiah 17:5). As a child of God, you must put your trust in Him even as you call upon Him in prayer to come and help you. However, before calling on the Lord, first ensure that there is no impediment in your life that would deny you of His help, because in Isaiah 59:1-2, He says,

1 Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: 2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.”

Prayer Point: Abba Father, please send help to me today, and don’t let me be put to shame.

1. My faith looks up to Thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary,
Saviour divine!
Now hear me while I pray,
Take all my guilt away,
Oh, let me from this day
Be wholly Thine!

2. May Thy rich grace impart
Strength to my fainting heart,
My zeal inspire!
As Thou hast died for me,
Oh, may my love to Thee
Pure, warm, and changeless be,
A living fire!

3. While life’s dark maze I tread,
And griefs around me spread,
Be Thou my guide;
Bid darkness turn to day,
Wipe sorrow’s tears away,
Nor let me ever stray
From Thee aside.

4.Whenlife’s swift race is run,
Death’s cold work almost done
Be near to me.
Blest Saviour, then in love,
Fear and distrust remove;
Oh, bear me safe above,
A ransomed soul!
