Youth Pastor Fatally Hit by Car Days After Sharing Powerful Message About Enduring Trials

(Photo: Twitter)The late youth minister, Arturo Da’Naire Frazier, 39.

Two days after revealing that he had apologized to God for questioning why he needed to endure what he felt was a “season” of trials, the Rev. Arturo Da’Naire Frazier, a youth pastor at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church in Compton, California, was killed in a tragic car accident. He was 39.

Frazier’s sister, Tyoni Reed, told the Los Angeles Sentinel that shortly after leaving Unity Christian Fellowship Church at around 8:38 p.m. on Monday, he was struck by a car as he was crossing the street to get to his vehicle.

“The driver stopped immediately and gave assistance,” Reed said of the accident that occurred underneath the 710 Freeway overpass. Frazier was pronounced dead shortly after first responders arrived on the scene.

Frazier’s Pastor, Bishop Richard D. Sanders, expressed shock at his passing on his Facebook page.

“God help me … my son … I can’t trace the sense in this tragedy, but I can trust the sovereignty of my God!” he wrote.

The Rev. Xavier Thompson, president of the Baptist Ministers Conference of L.A. and Southern California, also expressed grief at the young minister’s passing.

“This sudden and tragic event shatters our sense of order and thrusts us into a world forever changed. In times such…

Everything You Didn’t Know about Christmas

Everything You Didn’t Know about Christmas

You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen.

You know Martin Luther invented the Christmas tree, and Queen Victoria and Prince Albert popularized it.

You know the Christmas holiday has strayed from its religious roots and observances.

But, author Judith Flanders says, “Anything you think you know about Christmas is wrong.

“No, Prince Albert didn’t bring the Christmas tree to England. No, the Dutch did not invent Santa Claus. No, Santa Claus’ red suit did not come from Coca-Cola. You could just go on and on forever.”

Flanders dispels myths and misunderstandings about Christmas in her new book, “Christmas: A Biography.”

She is a scholar of 19th-century history who previously has written about everyday life in Charles Dickens’ London and about Victorian domestic life. She says the holiday was a “natural” topic for her. “The 19th century was a period where a lot of things we understand Christmas to be today crystallized.”

Here’s what she learned about a few familiar traditions.

Religious holiday … but not

More than half of all Americans — and 71 percent of white evangelical Christians — believe that the religious aspects of the holiday, the Christian celebration of Christ’s birth in Bethlehem, are emphasized less than they were in the past, according to a poll released this week by Pew Research Center.

But from the very beginning,…

United Methodist Congregation Divided Over Firing of Gay Choir Director

(Photo: Facebook/Trinity United Methodist Church Jacksonville, NC)Trinity United Methodist Church of Jacksonville, North Carolina.

A United Methodist congregation in North Carolina is garnering internal division and national attention over its leadership’s decision to fire a gay choir director.

Trinity United Methodist Church of Jacksonville fired Ryan Mould from the position of choir director, which he had held for about three years, in October reportedly due to his sexual orientation.

Since then, according to the United Methodist News Service, some have chosen to leave the congregation while the UMC North Carolina Conference stepped in to help mediate the situation.

“Conference leaders continue to be in conversation with the parties, offering conflict transformation resources in the continued work toward healing, faithfulness and justice,” stated the Conference, as quoted by UMNS.

Mould has gotten support from liberal pro-LGBT United Methodist groups like Reconciling Ministries Network, who argue that the firing is inconsistent with the denomination’s official stance on church leadership.

“The Book of Discipline, which holds governing policies for The United Methodist Church (The UMC), maintains that clergy cannot be ‘self-avowed, practicing homosexuals,'” argued RMN in a…

Open Heavens 16 December 2017: Saturday daily devotional by Pastor Adeboye – What Of Your Vows?

Open Heavens 16 December 2017: Saturday daily devotional by Pastor Adeboye – What Of Your Vows?

Topic: What Of Your Vows? — Saturday 16, December 2017.

Memorise: Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.Ecclesiastes 5:5

Read Ecclesiastes 5:1-6 (KJV)

1 Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.

2 Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.

3 For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool’s voice is known by multitude of words.

4 When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.

5 Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.

6 Suffer not thy mouth to cause thy flesh to sin; neither say thou before the angel, that it was an error: wherefore should God be angry at thy voice, and destroy the work of thine hands?

Bible in One Year: Revelation 14-16, Zachariah 3, Hymn: Sing Hymn 16: God Give Us Christian Homes!

MESSAGE:

The institution of marriage is largely misunderstood and consequently abused by lot of people in today’s world. Marriage was designed by God for the good of the partners involved. He designed it as an institution where they can complement each other, enjoy life on earth, and reproduce their kind to replenish the earth. In contrast to what is sadly the norm in the world today, marriage is a covenant relationship that is of a permanent nature. The Lord Jesus Christ himself stated this in Matthew 19:6 when He said:

“Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.”

Contrary to God’s expectations, the marital vow that is supposed to be very sacred is fast becoming a recitation that is violated at will. How many married people ever reflect on the vows they exchanged at the alter to see if the current state of their lives has not deviated from it? Marriage is a very serious covenant relationship. God expects the partners involved in it to keep the pledge they made to each other in the presence of many witnesses. Are you married? How faithful have you been in keeping your marital vows?

As Children of God, we should not be surprised by the current sorry state of the institution of marriage in the world today. The Holy Spirit told us ahead of time that unfaithfulness to vows will form part of the unrighteousness of men in such times as this, when in Romans 1:31 He described the characteristics of people in the last days as follows:

“Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:”

In 2 Timothy 3:3-4, He also indicates to us that a sign by which we will know we are in the last days is when we see men increasingly becoming traitors and trucebreakers (i.e implacable). Are you breaking any of the promises you made in your marriage vows? Are you the type that cannot be appeased? Do you find it difficult to forgive your spouse whenever there is a form of misunderstanding in your relationship? If you have any of these traits, it shows that you are not walking in the love of God. Are you unmerciful to your spouse? How can you receive mercy from God when you cannot even show it to your spouse? At the later, you promised to take care of your spouse; are you doing so today? You promised to use all your worldly goods to make life easier for your spouse, but is that what you are doing today? You promised to leave everyone else and belong to your spouse forever; is that so? Are you secretly dating someone else? If you have fallen out of line, repent and keep your vows from today!

Prayer Point: Every vow made shall be accounted for someday. Never break your vows!

Hymn 16: God Give Us Christian Homes!

1. God give us Christian homes!
Homes where the Bible is loved and taught,
Homes where the Master’s will is sought,
Homes crowned with beauty Your love has wrought;
God give us Christian homes;
God give us Christian homes!

2. God give us Christian homes!
Homes where the father is true and strong,
Homes that are free from the blight of wrong,
Homes that are joyous with love and song;
God give us Christian homes;
God give us Christian homes!

3. God give us Christian homes!
Homes where the mother, in caring quest,
Strives to show others Your way is best,
Homes where the Lord is an honored guest;
God give us Christian homes;
God give us Christian homes!

4. God give us Christian homes!
Homes where the children are led to know
Christ in His beauty who loves them so,
Homes where the altar fires burn and glow;
God give us Christian homes;
God give us Christian homes!

Bitcoin Trigger Ponzi Scheme Fears As Prices Continue To Rise

REUTERS/Benoit Tessier/IllustrationA Bitcoin (virtual currency) coin is seen in an illustration picture taken at La Maison du Bitcoin in Paris, France, June 23, 2017.

As more and more people dive into the Bitcoin craze, prices continue to soar exponentially. But while many investors tried to make money using the cryptocurrency itself, many have tried to cash in on its popularity in the most devious way possible: Ponzi schemes.

Ever since it made headlines, many companies began sprouting up enticing people to investment schemes involving the digital currency. But while some companies do try to make their investors happy others are no more than illicit money-pooling activities aimed at reeling in unsuspecting victims. As the old adage said, there’s a sucker born every minute.

These companies have all the hallmarks of a Ponzi scheme: get rich quick promotions, huge financial rewards, some trappings of legitimacy, and yes, emphasis on recruitment. The people behind them promise of huge returns from investment in Bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies, which they claim are minted through blockchain, a distributed ledger technology that was created to mint these currencies comprises of extremely complex algorithms with several thousand nodes for each chain.

Analysts and seasoned investors have expressed that these investments have nothing to do with blockchain-developed virtual currency and are nothing more than a new way for scammers to part people with their hard earned money in what has been dubbed as “e-Ponzi” schemes. According to financial regulators, the lack of regulations governing…

Atheists who throw stones are obstacles to social cohesion

Speaking to Premier Christianity magazine, Cardinal Nichols said: “When people think we’re a society without much cohesion or mutual understanding and that’s because of the different religious beliefs, they’re wrong.

“The real problem lies not between those who believe in God, but between those who do believe in God and others who are puzzled by the whole thing, have never really thought about it and pick up stones to throw at things they don’t understand.

“The level of religious illiteracy in this country really is quite considerable and is a real obstacle to social cohesion and sharing of a vision.”

Speaking of his friendship with the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, Cardinal Nichols said “it’s a great joy”, adding relationships were strong with other faith leaders.

“Recently I was giving evidence to the House of the Lords on civic engagement. I did it sitting with the Chief Rabbi and we could speak with great understanding between us, most of the time making the same points.”

Cardinal Nichols made the comments during an interview about his latest book Hope in Action which deals with social issues including rehabilitation for prisoners and ending human trafficking.

Cardinal Vincent Nichols described modern slavery as “a great evil” and said the Catholic Church in particular “has an important role to play” in ending it, because the Church has “a worldwide structure and network”.

“The Metropolitan Police…

Tesla Model 3 Increasing Production To 5,000 Vehicles Per Week

Tesla Motors/Handout via REUTERSFirst production model of Tesla Model 3 out the assembly line in Fremont, California, U.S. is seen in this undated handout photo from Tesla Motors obtained by Reuters July 10, 2017.

Tesla Model 3 production has now increased to 5,000 vehicles after experiencing “production bottlenecks” early this year. This is according to the company’s suppliers who revealed that they are back to working on Tesla’s guidance of 5,000 units per week for the month of December.

One of these suppliers, Taiwanese auto component maker Hota Industrial Mfg. Co, announced back in October that Tesla slashed its orders for Model 3 parts by 40 percent from 5,000 vehicles per week to 3,000 vehicles. Now the same company, which produces gears and axles, told Taiwanese media that the electric automaker has increased the demand for parts back to 5,000.

Company Chairman Shen Guorong added that they now have to mobilize the whole company and even work overtime to fill in Tesla’s orders. They have even resorted to shipping Tesla Model 3 parts by airplane rather than boats to fulfill their client’s demand. The same surge in demand was also reported by other companies that are part of Tesla’s supply chain.

However, it should be noted that while the suppliers have received an increase in demand, it would take some time to transport these parts not to mention assembling them to a functional vehicle. This means that Tesla might achieve a production rate of 5,000 vehicles per week by January at its earliest.

Still, the announcement from suppliers does coincide with Musk’s new guidance of “a few…
