Carl Lentz Slams HBO’s Vice News for Editing His Answer on Politics and Trump

(Screenshot: VICE News)Hillsong NYC Pastor Carl Lentz in an interview on “Vice News” published on November 8, 2017.

Hillsong New York City Pastor Carl Lentz has blasted HBO’s Vice News for an interview he did with the media outlet earlier this month that he says was heavily cut and not presented honestly.

Speaking with World Religion News in an interview posted on Monday, Lentz said he’s “frustrated” by the Vice News interview and the way it was presented.

“They know better. They know that was not the full conversation,” Lentz said.

The Vice interview in question seemed to suggest that the megachurch pastor has had some interaction with the Trump’s administration.

“I’ve had some small moments,” Lentz said in the clip shown at the time. “I’ve done some White House stuff on the sly. I’ve been in rooms with people who make big decisions,” he added.

He told World Religion News that his point, which was taken out completely by Vice, is that it is his duty to pray for America’s leaders.

“Whether I agree or disagree I am going to pray for them passionately. That is my job as a Christian and then it devolved into ‘has he done anything’ and I told them lightly ‘I have been in some rooms’ I may be referring to the Prayer Breakfast or whatever in D.C. The conversational tone was so…

Christian kidney donor says churches should address fear, as Black donor numbers hit five-year low

Figures recently published by NHS Blood and Transplant showed in 2016-17:

o Only 17 people from the community came forward to save a life through donating their kidney: the lowest number in 5 years.
o African Caribbean patients who needed a kidney waited, on average, over one year longer than white patients.
o Just 24% of African Caribbean patients received a kidney transplant, meaning over 600 people remained in need at the end of the year.
o Over 250 died while waiting for a donor.

Nina Greywoode is a Christian and donated her kidney in 2014 to a young girl and told Premier what churches can do to help.

She said: “Churches need to help to remove the fear.

“If we believe in our heavenly father then we should not fear death.

“Don’t get me wrong, the chances of you dying from giving a kidney is slim to none but because this fear of anaesthetic, the fear of going under the knife, they’re reluctant to do it.”

The African Caribbean Leukaemia Trust (ACLT) launched a new campaign on Tuesday in response to research findings.

It said the findings show that there is a large amount of scepticism and lack of trust in the NHS amongst the African Caribbean community in relation to organ donation.

ACLT has called on people from the African Caribbean community to get in touch with them to express their interest in becoming a living organ donor.

The charity will also speak to each potential donor to ensure they are fully informed and guided through the process.

Why Investors Still Love Tesla Despite Financial Woes

Reuters/Lucas JacksonTesla slowly rolled out its HW 2.5 update to improve the computing capabilities of older vehicles.

From a business perspective, Tesla is a catastrophe. But why, despite a myriad of issues, does the company continue to attract investors all of whom are willing to shell out millions for Elon Musk’s vision?

Jim Chanos summarized all of the reasons why during the Reuters Global Investment 2018 Outlook Summit on Tuesday.

“If you wouldn’t be short a multi-billion-dollar loss-making enterprise in a cyclical business, with a leveraged balance sheet, questionable accounting, every executive leaving, run by a CEO with a questionable relationship with the truth, what would you be short? It sort of ticks all the boxes.”

For years, a lot of people have been predicting the electric automaker’s downfall only to be proven wrong time and again. Not that it mattered though as despite a number of problems, from failing to adequately produce its Model 3 sedan to outright failure to turn a profit, everybody still loves Tesla-the-company.

As for Tesla-the-business, well it’s a totally different story. A report from Bloomberg revealed that the company is burning through capital at a rate of $480,000 an hour or roughly a billion per quarter, the same amount as General Motors.

However, unlike GM, which is currently the biggest US automaker, Tesla has yet to turn a profit. Even worse, should the cash bleed continue, Tesla will be drained dry by August of 2018. So why, despite having every financial red flag available, is the company’s stock still sky high with investors lining up to throw their…

Prince Harry Will Marry a Divorced American — and the Church is Fine with it

Prince Harry Will Marry a Divorced American — and the Church is Fine with it

A British royal marrying an American divorcee in 1936 threw the British monarchy and the Church of England into crisis, but that didn’t happen when Prince Harry decided to marry Meghan Markle.

The announcement in London Monday (Nov. 27) that Prince Harry is engaged to the American actress ended fevered speculation about the couple and was accompanied by statements of delight from Harry’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and his father, heir to the throne Prince Charles.

It was so very different from the last time a British royal wanted to marry an American divorcee. That 1936 engagement led to the abdication of the king, Edward VIII, who decided he would rather give up the throne than divorced Baltimore socialite Wallis Simpson.

The sticking point in 1936 was the rule on divorce and remarriage in the Church of England, of which the monarch of the United Kingdom is head. The church’s ban on remarriage for a divorced person whose previous spouse is alive applied to King Edward, and still held for Queen Elizabeth’s sister, Princess Margaret, in 1953. She was told she could not marry the man she loved, Captain Peter Townsend, because the Church of England would not countenance it.

Her only path to marry him would be to renounce her right to the throne — and to effectively leave the royal family. She chose to not marry the Royal Air Force officer.

John Piper Responds to Concerns That Nashville Statement Is Driving Liberals Away

(Screengrab via Vimeo/DesiringGod.org)Theologian, John Piper.

Reformed theologian and author John Piper has tackled a question on whether the Nashville Statement on sexuality is too divisive for society and is driving liberals further away by explaining that biblical truth is always controversial.

During a podcast posted on the desiringGod.com website Monday, Piper read an email he received about the Nashville Statement which talks about some of the pushback the statement has generated, even among conservative circles.

In the email, a listener identified as Amy listed her two main concerns about the August deceleration, which Piper signed, that affirmed conservative theological positions on issues of gender and sexual orientation:

“(1) Is hot-topic orthodoxy, announced and affirmed in the wide-open public realm, appropriate in a ‘casting pearls before swine’ kind of way? and (2) Is it helpful or harmful for outreach to draw public lines in the sand over ideology, which, at worst, is seen as politically motivated by the world, or is at least something that adds a new wall of separation between the Christians in a local church from the liberal, unbelieving neighbors they are trying to reach within a neighborhood, first through relationship building?”

Piper delved into…

Tim Farron says real liberalism accepts religious difference

The Christian and politician will speak at an event on Tuesday.

He is expected to say in a speech: “If you actively hold a faith that is more than an expression of cultural identity you are deemed to be far worse than eccentric. You are dangerous. You are offensive.”

He will give an annual lecture to Christian thinktank Theos, who aim to inform people about genuine Christian opinion.

Farron resigned as leader of the Lib Dems after the General Election this year, following a difficult season of questions about his views on homosexuality.

He quit due to the hardship of leading the party whilst being a Christian as he said in his resignation speech: “Imagine what would lead me to relinquish that honour (of being leader).

“In the words of Sir Isaac Watts, it would have to be something that demands my heart, my life, my all.”

Farron will argue that real liberalism accepts religious difference and he will reject the idea that Britain is currently tolerant.

He will add in his speech: “People talk about shared values today. But when they do, what they mean is ‘These are my values – and I’m going to act as though they are also yours, and will demonstrate contempt for you if you depart from them.”

(Photo: Facebook/Liquid Church)Liquid Church in Mountainside, New Jersey.

A New Jersey-based megachurch is planning to pack one million meals for those in Puerto Rico still affected by the ravages of Hurricane Maria.

Liquid Church will gather about 4,000 volunteers at multiple locations to pack the meals over the course of Dec. 8-9 as part of its third annual “Christmas Outreach” program.

Lauren Bercarich, communications director for Liquid Church, told The Christian Post in an interview Monday that this is slated to be the largest Christmas Outreach program so far.

“In 2015, our volunteers packed 250,000 meals. In 2016, they packed 500,000 meals, and in 2017, we are aiming to pack a record-breaking one million holiday meals in a single weekend. This will be the largest Christmas Outreach we’ve ever hosted,” explained Bercarich.

“To serve, attendance at Liquid Church is not required, so we encourage our folks to invite others in the community — friends, neighbors, co-workers — to serve alongside them.”

Bercarich explained that the Christmas Outreach program has such strong support from the church because it is…
