In the Capitol’s Shadow, Massive Museum of the Bible Readies for Opening

In the new Museum of the Bible is a room full of Bibles, color-coded to show the more than 2,000 languages into which the holy book has been at least partially translated — and the similar number for which translation has “not yet begun.”

That exhibit is just one example of how the 430,000-square-foot building with a view of the U.S. Capitol is meant to fascinate, educate and — depending on your perspective — evangelize.

“You could certainly interpret it that way,” said Museum of the Bible President Cary Summers of the language-related exhibit in an interview shortly before the museum’s Friday (Nov. 17) opening.

Some may see the exhibit as a visual depiction of the Bible’s growing influence over time, and others as a demonstration of the potential for spreading its message further. “We’ve never viewed it as evangelical outreach at all. It’s just part of the history of the Bible. And we’re showing it in this great way.”

Since the nonprofit behind the museum was established in 2010, officials have shifted from their original mission “to inspire confidence in the absolute authority and reliability of the Bible” to one that’s become “nonsectarian” and aimed at welcoming people of all faiths and none.

Strategically placed near the National Mall, a collection of monuments and museums dedicated to the country’s civic ideals,…

4 Things We Can Learn from Jesus’ Words to the Ephesian Church

In Revelation chapter two, we see what appears to be a model church. They performed good works and were involved in the community. They were steadfast and patient. They hated evil and pointed out false doctrine. But Jesus said, “I have this against you, that you have left your first love.” His message was brief, but powerful. They were to repent quickly or He would remove their influence. He would remove His presence from their midst.

A.W. Tozer said, “A Christian will make spiritual progress exactly in proportion to his ability to criticize himself.” Do you want to mature…are you ready to grow and change? Then you must assess your spiritual health often. This type of model church spoke about in Revelation, often has the courage to speak God’s truth but does not have the humility that allows God’s truth to speak to them. Did you catch that? “We are never, never so much in danger of being proud as when we think we are humble” (C.H. Spurgeon). Here are just a few things we can learn from Jesus’ words to the church in Ephesus. Be encouraged: Jesus’ words often hurt before they help.

Oprah Sings Hymn ‘I Surrender All’ on Harry Connick Jr. Show

Oprah Winfrey recently led worship as a guest on Harry Connick Jr.’s talk show. The influential celebrity and former talk show host also discussed prayer, faith, and responding to criticism.

“You know what my prayer is? My prayer is, ‘Use me.’ I used to pray that prayer everyday … When you pray that prayer you will be met with the answer,” Oprah told Connick, as reported by RelevantMagazine.com.

Toward the end of the interview, Oprah leads a rendition of the Christian hymn “I Surrender All.”

“All to Jesus I surrender

All to Him I freely give

I will ever love and trust Him

In His presence daily live,”
say the song’s lyrics.

“I surrender all

I surrender all

All to Thee my blessed Saviour

I surrender all,
” continues the chorus.

Oprah also commented on the current cultural and political climate, and said that in these times of divisiveness and tension, our true spiritual roots and true love need to show. “Love shows up when it has to face hate,” she said.

Athletes of Faith: Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger Receive Rookie of the Year Awards

Athletes of Faith: Aaron Judge and Cody Bellinger Receive Rookie of the Year Awards

New York Yankees player Aaron Judge and Los Angeles Dodgers player Cody Bellinger have both been chosen to receive Rookie of the Year awards.

According to CBN News, both of these baseball players are men of faith. Both Judge and Bellinger were a huge part of helping their respective teams make it to the postseason. Judge received the Rookie of the Year award for the American League, while Bellinger received the same award for the National League.

Judge had a record 52 home runs on the season, while Bellinger hit 39.

Judge has often spoken out about his faith and how thankful he is to have been raised by Godly parents.

“I feel they kind of picked me,” Aaron told The New York Post in 2015. “I feel that God was the one that matched us together.”

“Some kids grow in their mom’s stomach; I grew in my mom’s heart,” he continued. “She’s always showed me love and compassion ever since I was a little baby. I’ve never needed to think differently or wonder about anything.”

“Words can’t describe how proud of him we are,” said Aaron’s father Wayne in the middle of the 2017 baseball season. “If it happens to end tomorrow, he’s the type of kid who will say, ‘It was meant to be’ and move on.”

Bellinger also comes from a faith-filled home. “God, family, friends, fashion, good food and music…. and all about the baseball life, wife, and mom,” reads the Twitter bio…
