DCLM Daily Manna 9 November, 2017 by Pastor Kumuyi – He Watches Over His Own

Topic: He Watches Over His Own — Thursday November 9, 2017.

Text: 2 Kings 11:1-12

Key Verse: “And he brought forth the king’s son, and put the crown upon him, and gave him the testimony; and they made him king, and anointed him; and they clapped their hands, and said, God save the king” (2 Kings 11:12 ).

In Psalm 2, King David presents a picture that celebrates God’s ultimate universal rule despite every device of the enemy to thwart His plans. After wondering why puny kings and the lords of the earth gather to unseat Him whom the Lord has anointed to reign, David mocks their antics and predicts the outcome of the contest between God and man: “He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure”

It was this fate that befell Athaliah who sought to abort God’s plan to bring the Messiah into the world for mankind’s salvation through the lineage of David. Jehu killed her son Ahaziah and so she attempted to destroy all the other princes. God would not allow that because they were the descendants of David whom He promised would be the progenitor of the coming Messiah in 2 Samuel 7. Athaliah thought she had killed all the princes. But God hid one, Joash, through Jehosheba who protected him in the temple. God took care of Him for six years while Athaliah ruled in terror and wickedness. During the period, she never had time for the temple since her preoccupation was idolatry. Eventually, Joash was unveiled as the king of Judah and Athaliah was executed. God won!

He always does. Knowing and believing God’s promises to watch over His beloved children under all circumstances should enhance our respect and honour for Him. We should hold Him in greater awe and obey Him more for His love and care. With faith in His power to preserve, we ought not fear the threats of the world while reaching out to sinners with the gospel. He who aborted the plot against Joash and the messianic line will continue to preserve us.

Thought for the day: God is a sure Refuge and Strength to those who lean on Him.

Our Daily Manna November 9, 2017: ODM devotional – Love Of Praise Is The Poison Of Stars!

Our Daily Manna November 9, 2017: ODM devotional – Love Of Praise Is The Poison Of Stars!

Topic: Love Of Praise Is The Poison Of Stars! [Thursday, November 9, 2017]

Basic Scriptures: Luke 1:26-37

There is this pathetic story of a young man who stood up in a crowded room and loudly exclaimed: “Excuse me everybody, excuse me; can I please have your attention ladies and gentle men for a few seconds?” Immediately, silence enveloped the hall and cold hush ran across the noisy crowd, with every eye firmly fixed on him. As soon as he got their attention, the young man like an Olympic record holder, calmly informed the anxious crowd: “Oh thank you everyone, I just love your attention,” then he sat down! What a soul! But do you know like this pathetic young man, thousands are looking daily for the praise and attention of men, EVEN IN THE CHURCH?

When Saul was asked why he disobeyed God, his reply was: “But the people took of the spoil, sheep and the chief of the things…” – 1 Sam 15:21. He put the blame on the people. He loved the attention of men! Note in the contrary, that when he was in distress and the people wanted to stone David, the Word says that instead of David seeking for people’s sympathy, opinions and attention, he asked Abiathar the priest to seek the face of God through ephod. He was interested in seeking God’s attention.

No wonder, he is still unparalleled in Israel and no wonder the Master Man – Jesus, came as the son of David. In all you do, refuse to seek for the attention or the praise of men because your Announcer, Rewarder and promoter is God! Pride and seeking to be a friend of all will only take you early to the land with double signpost: DISHONOUR AND DISGRACE. Oh! Hear Benjamin Franklin: “Be civil to all, social to many, familiar with few; friend to one, enemy to none. As 2017 ends, do things without expecting praise from  men or women. Love of praise have brought down many great stars and potential stars! Don’t be the next victim! Pray now!

TREM’s Daily 9 November 2017 Devotional by Dr. Mike Okonkwo – Come To The Seat Of Grace

TREM’s Daily 9 November 2017 Devotional by Dr. Mike Okonkwo - Come To The Seat Of Grace

Topic: Come To The Seat Of Grace — Thursday November 9, 2017.

“For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said as I have sworn in my wrath if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world” (Hebrew 4:3 KJV)

My assignment until I see my Lord is to bring you to the seat of grace. That is what Jesus prepared for us. We cannot afford to sit on the seat of judgment. We are called to function from the seat of grace. God wants to deal with us from the point of Grace. Notice that the last part of our text today says “the works were finished from the foundation of the world”. In other words, God has moved on your behalf, He has done it. All you need to do is to receive what grace has perfected from the foundation of the world.

Long before you became a Christian, Jesus died from the foundation of the world. The scriptures say the lamb was slain before the foundation of the world. In other words, He finished the works before the foundation of the world. That is why the Bible declares, “For whom he did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the first born among many brethren. Moreover, whom He did predestinate, them He also called: and whom He called, them He also justified: and whom He justified, them He also glorified. (Romans 8:29-30 KJV)

If God is for you, what disease, what agony, what pain and what devil can be against you? What is the thing that the devil can fashion against you? After man fell in Genesis chapter 3, it was the same God who came and covered him. That was grace at work. Man covered himself with leaves, God killed an animal and covered him with the skin. That was the sacrifice. The devil will not see your nakedness. Whatever the devil packaged to cause you shame and reproach, by the authority of heaven, I declare it nullified. By the authority in the blood that was shed for us on Calvary, you will not miss your reward. What God has packaged for you, no power will take it from you. Grace will constantly speak for you.

Kenneth and Gloria Copeland’s Daily November 9, 2017 Devotional: Brag on God

Kenneth and Gloria Copeland’s Daily November 9, 2017 Devotional: Brag on God

Topic: Brag on God [Thursday November 9, 2017]

Rejoice and exult in hope; be steadfast and patient in suffering and tribulation; be constant in prayer. – Romans 12:12, The Amplified Bible

We’re to live in hope. We’re to rejoice. So, when Satan comes to steal your victory and tell you that God is not going to help you this time, you just think on the Word of God and start rejoicing. Rejoice that you’re in Him. Rejoice that heaven is your home. Rejoice that greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. Rejoice. Brag on God today. The devil can’t stand it!

“Be steadfast and patient in suffering and tribulation….” Tribulation means “being under pressure.” When pressure comes, don’t cave in. Don’t faint. Instead, go to the throne of grace. Go boldly in the Name of Jesus and get the help you need.

Remember this: When things get hard isn’t when you let go of the Word. That’s when you double up on it. That’s when you are “constant in prayer” so that you are immovable.

Rejoice. Be patient under pressure. Be constant in prayer. The devil won’t be able to steal one thing from you!

Our Daily Bread 9 November 2017 Devotional – A Good Ending

Our Daily Bread 9 November 2017 Devotional – A Good Ending

Topic: A Good Ending — Thursday November 9, 2017.

Read: Revelation 22:1–5, Bible in a Year: Jeremiah 46–47; Hebrews 6

The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. They will see his face. Revelation 22:3–4

As the lights dimmed and we prepared to watch Apollo 13, my friend said under his breath, “Shame they all died.” I watched the movie about the 1970 spaceflight with apprehension, waiting for tragedy to strike, and only near the closing credits did I realize I’d been duped. I hadn’t known or remembered the end of the true story—that although the astronauts faced many hardships, they made it home alive.

In Christ, we can know the end of the story—that we too will make it home alive. By that I mean we will live forever with our heavenly Father, as we see in the book of Revelation. The Lord will create a “new heaven and a new earth” as He makes all things new (21:1, 5). In the new city, the Lord God will welcome His people to live with Him, without fear and without the night. We have hope in knowing the end of the story.

What difference does this make? It can transform times of extreme difficulty, such as when people face the loss of a loved one or even their own death. Though we recoil at the thought of dying, yet we can embrace the joy of the promise of eternity. We long for the city where no longer will there be any curse, where we’ll live forever by God’s light (22:5).

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, give me unfailing hope, that I might rest in Your promises and welcome Your life eternal.

God promises His people a good end to the story.

Insight:

In Matthew Henry’s Concise Commentary on the Whole Bible, he writes about Revelation 22:1–5: “The presence of God in heaven is the health and happiness of the saints. . . . The devil has no power there . . . . There will be no night; no affliction or dejection, no pause in service or enjoyment: no diversions or pleasures of man’s inventing will be desired there.” In this “new heaven and earth,” Jesus will wipe away our tears and “there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain” (21:4). The promise of an end to our suffering can bring a glimmer of hope and joy to our life when we face difficulties, but the brightest hope comes in the knowledge that one day we as His followers will be in the presence of our Lord who loves us. Free from temptation, free from sin, and free from pain and sadness and death, we’ll have only joy in the service of the King!

How does the promise of this bright future help you today when you face troubles and trials? What about heaven do you most anticipate? Alyson Kieda

Andrew Wommack’s Daily 9 November 2017 Devotional – Choose To Focus On All That Is Good

Topic: Choose To Focus On All That Is Good [Thursday November 9, 2017]

Mark 14:38 “Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.”

Text: Mark 14:38

Temptation is linked directly to what we think upon (Heb. 11:15). Temptation has to be entered into. We can avoid temptation by avoiding thoughts that generate temptation (Prov. 23:7). Since it is impossible to not think, we cannot just try to reject the negative thoughts in this world, but we must choose to think on the positive truths of God. This is where prayer comes in.

In prayer, we have our minds stayed upon God and therefore, are not receptive to thoughts that conceive temptation. Temptation or sin must be conceived (Jas. 1:14-15). In the physical realm, the easiest way to avoid an unwanted birth is to avoid conception, so it is in the spiritual world.

It is easier to avoid being tempted by being in constant communion with God, than it is to overcome temptation once it has been conceived.

Paul admonishes the Philippian believers to reflect and meditate upon eight positive principles of thinking that will lead to a victorious Christian life (Phil. 4:8). These are things that are “true,” that is: honorable, truthful and upright. Things that are “honest,” that is: honorable, truthful, genuine, not characterized by deception or fraud. Things that are “just,” that is: in accordance with what is right, or right conduct; any circumstance, fact or deed that is right. Things that are “pure,” free from defilement or impurity.

Things that are “lovely,” pleasing, agreeable, inspiring love or affection. A “good report,” that is: a saying or report that is positive and constructive rather than negative and destructive. “Virtue,” which is moral excellence, righteousness and goodness. “Praise,” or what is praiseworthy; expressing one’s esteem of a person and his virtues. We need to focus on the good in every area of our lives. Recognizing God’s hand in even the smallest things will bring peace and keep our hearts and minds following hard after the Lord.

Billy Graham’s Daily 9 November 2017 Devotional: What Is Conscience?

Billy Graham’s Daily 9 November 2017 Devotional: What Is Conscience?

Topic: What Is Conscience? [Thursday November 9, 2017]

Having a good conscience . . . — 1 Peter 3:16

What is conscience? God has put within each one of us something that cries aloud against us, whenever we do that which we know to be wrong. Conscience is the detective that watches the direction of our steps and decries every conscious transgression. Conscience is a vigilant eye before which each imagination, thought, and act, is held up for either censure or approval.

I believe there is no greater argument for the existence of God in the world today than conscience. There is no greater proof of the existence of a moral law and Lawgiver in the universe than this little light of the soul. It is God’s voice to the inner man. Conscience is our wisest counselor and teacher, our most faithful and most patient friend.

Prayer for the day: Thank You, Father, for my conscience which checks me and guards my actions. Help me to be alert to its promptings, through Your Holy Spirit.

First Openly Transgender Candidate is Elected as Virginia Delegate

First Openly Transgender Candidate is Elected as Virginia Delegate

Yesterday’s election in Virginia marked the first time a transgender individual has won a state legislature seat.

According to MSN.com, Virginia House of Delegates Democratic candidate Danica Roem defeated Republican Robert Marshall for a seat in Virginia’s House of Delegates for the 13th District.

As ChristianHeadlines.com previously reported, Roem’s win comes amidst a widespread political win for Democrats in the state of Virginia, including the victory of Democratic Virginia gubernatorial candidate Ralph Northam.

Roem was formerly a reporter for the Gainesville Times as well as the Prince William Times. Her opponent, Marshall, had been in the state legislature since 1992.

Viginia House Democratic Caucus Leader David J. Toscano and Caucus Chairwoman Charniele Herring praised Roem’s credentials:

“Danica will bring a reporter’s eye to Richmond, and we eagerly anticipate her results-oriented approach to deliver for her constituents in the 13th,” Toscano and Herring said in a statement.

“As a journalist, Danica Roem has covered the issues critical to Virginians and listened to a wide range of perspectives. During her campaign, Danica expanded this approach by listening to area residents’ concerns and making them integral to her own policy platform,” they added.

LGBTQ supporters celebrated Roem’s victory as well. Chad Griffin, the Human Rights Campaign…
