Andrew Wommack’s Daily 3 November 2017 Devotional – One In Spirit

Topic: One In Spirit [Friday November 3, 2017]

John 17:21 “That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.”

Text: John 17:21

Jesus is praying for all believers to be one as He and the Father are one.

This goes far beyond what many promote as unity today. Paul besought the Corinthians to “all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment” (1 Cor. 1:10). This is God’s standard of unity.

This oneness among believers is what Jesus said would cause the world to know that Jesus is the Son of God. This is the greatest tool for evangelism that the church has. The only way that Christ’s body will be one as the Father and Jesus are One is through God’s kind of love. No wonder Satan tries to get believers to go at each others’ throats. We spend billions of dollars a year on evangelism through television, radio, conventions and crusades, yet, the world is not evangelized because the body of Christ is not united in love.

There is very little unity among believers today. This has occured over thousands of years and it probably won’t be fixed over night. We must strive towards unity but not be overwhelmed by the problem. All Christians have already been joined to each other through the body of Christ, and God the Father sees us all as His children. All divisions among Christians are made by man, not God. For a brief period of time, the church enjoyed unity on earth. Regardless of what strife and division has occurred, all believers are still one in Christ and will live in perfect oneness throughout eternity. We are now one in Spirit. We just need to experience that unity here on earth.

“Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven” (Mt. 6:10).

Film about Unique Christian Charity Wins Award for Best Human Interest Documentary

Film about Unique Christian Charity Wins Award for Best Human Interest Documentary

Last night at the International Broadcasting Awards, held in London, a film about the work of Christian charity Mercy Ships won the award for Best Human Interest Documentary.

Mercy Ships’ website describes the work they do this way: “Many people in Africa have little or no access to healthcare. There are only 2.5 physicians per 10,000 people in Africa, compared to 25 physicians per 10,000 in the U.S. So the Africa Mercy brings volunteer medical teams and sterile operating rooms directly to people who would otherwise go without care.

It’s the world’s largest civilian hospital ship providing state-of-the-art care to those in desperate need—free of charge.”

The documentary, titled The Surgery Ship, chronicles how patients are helped aboard the hospital ships. It is comprised of eight episodes.

“’I’m delighted to receive this award -– we are immensely proud of the series. Documenting the extraordinary work of Mercy Ships has been a privilege and we hope it continues to be seen widely,” said the producer of the documentary, Madeleine Hetherton.

‘”We are hugely excited that The Surgery Ship has won this award. We would like to thank National Geographic for commissioning the series, and Media Stockade for doing such a fantastic job at capturing the work of the heroic volunteers on our hospital ship. I am confident that this will lead to The…

GOP Aims to Repeal Johnson Amendment in New Tax Reform Bill

GOP Aims to Repeal Johnson Amendment in New Tax Reform Bill

The Republican Party is seeking to repeal the Johnson Amendment in their new tax reform bill.

The Johnson Amendment prohibits nonprofits, and thus churches and pastors, from endorsing particular political candidates and parties if they are to keep their nonprofit status.

Christians have argued that the Johnson Amendment puts a muzzle on churches and religious leaders and even violates their right to free speech.

According to CBNNews.com, GOP leaders plan on getting the tax reform bill on President Trump’s desk by the end of the year.

“Our goal in the House is to get this bill out of the House, passed on the floor by Thanksgiving,” House Republican Conference Chair Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) told CBN News.

“Tax reform is very complicated, there’s now more than four million words in our tax code, it’s longer than the Bible, right? Without the good news,” McMorris Rodgers added with a touch of humor. “And I think it’s very important that our members stay focused on the overall goal of providing tax relief to individuals and families and businesses so that everyone can reach their full potential.”

Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX) added that the tax reform bill aims to simplify the tax code substantially: “It’s going to be a tax simplification, only three or four levels of income, you’re going to literally, 80 percent of the American people are going to be able to fill out…

Billy Graham Prepares to Celebrate 99th Birthday This Month

Billy Graham Prepares to Celebrate 99th Birthday This Month

In anticipation of Billy Graham’s 99th birthday, Franklin Graham, president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, released the following statement about his father:

Nov. 7 will be a big milestone for my father as he turns 99 and enters his 100th year. As a family, we are just so very grateful that he is still with us. His mind is good but he’s quieter these days. He can’t see or hear well, but his health is stable.

“On his birthday, some family will be with him and we’ll give him his favorite cake—a lemon cake with lard icing. He loves those cakes—but it has to have the lard icing.

“At the Billy Graham Library we’ll have a special celebration that day, as this year is also the 10th anniversary of the opening of the library. We’ll have birthday cake for everyone who comes by.

“Also as my father enters his 100th year, for the year leading up to his 100th birthday, we are going to honor what God has done through him by highlighting significant moments of his life and some eight decades of ministry. The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association is moving strong into the future, but it’s also important to celebrate the past, so each month we will focus on a particular decade and highlight significant things like his 16-week evangelistic crusade in New York City, his impact on worldwide evangelism and personal testimonies of people whose lives were…

Colorado: 3 Dead after Shooting at Denver Area Walmart

Colorado: 3 Dead after Shooting at Denver Area Walmart

A gunman entered a Denver-area Walmart on Wednesday evening and carried out an attack. Three people were killed in the shooting.

According to FoxNews.com, the suspect, Scott Ostrem, 47, has been taken into custody after a manhunt was underway. Police located Ostrem about 10 miles from the Thornton Walmart where he carried out the deadly shooting.

Ostrem reportedly entered the Walmart just after six p.m. on Wednesday and “nonchalantly” began shooting at customers.

One shopper who was a witness to the shooting told FOX31, “I was just picking up my last item and about to head towards the checkout. Heard two slow pops that sounded like they were coming from the front checkout area and then started to run as about four more shots rang out a little faster. At that point everyone was just running and screaming.”

Several Walmart employees rushed to the back room of the store after the shots were fired, and then later escaped out the back door.

Another eyewitness recalled the chaos that followed the shooting: “The employees started screaming. Customers were screaming. They were running like crazy, and I ran out too because I didn’t want to get killed,” said Aaron Stephens.

“You see all these things in the news and you go through it, it’s scary,” added Guadalupe Perez who was shopping with her young son at the time of the shooting. “But thank God we’re OK and nothing happened to…
