DCLM Daily Manna 1 November, 2017 by Pastor Kumuyi – Sacrifice Of Thanksgiving

Topic: Sacrifice Of Thanksgiving — Wednesday November 1, 2017.

Text: Leviticus 22:26-33

Key Verse: “And when ye will offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving unto the LORD, offer it at your own will” (Leviticus 22:29).

The sacrifice of thanksgiving is mentioned several times in the Old Testament. It is first mentioned in Leviticus 7:11-15. These verses seem to indicate that the sacrifice of thanksgiving is actually a peace offering that is motivated by appreciation to God. This type of offering included an animal sacrifice as well as various cereal or bread offerings. Like all peace offerings, it was voluntary, offered by the worshiper on those occasions when he was motivated to express thanksgiving to God.

Secondly, it was shared into three portions, to the Lord, the priest, and the worshiper. This contrasted with other types of offerings, which were either entirely burnt (except for the skin) on the altar as an offering to the Lord, or partly burned on the altar and partly consumed by the priest. But for a peace offering offered as a sacrifice of thanksgiving, the protocol was different.

After the Lord and the priest had received their portions, the worshiper who brought the sacrifice would take the remaining portions of the meat and the bread to prepare a feast in which family and friends who were ritually pure could share. Any of the meat not consumed on the day the sacrifice was offered had to be destroyed by burning. While the Old Testament system of animal sacrifice is now obsolete due to the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ, there are some principles here that continue to speak to us today.

Though thanksgiving honours God, He does not coerce us into it. Such expressions of gratitude must flow freely from the depths of the heart to God who is the ultimate Source of all blessings in our lives. We show gratitude to God practically by sharing His benevolence with other believers: paying school fees of the underprivileged, hospital bills for the sick, rent for the homeless and sharing food items with others.

Thought for the day: God is honoured most when others benefit more from you.

Topic: Triumph in Affliction [Wednesday November 1, 2017]

You don’t understand now why I am doing it; some day you will. —John 13:7 (TLB)

May I remind you that physical illness is not the worst thing that can happen to you? Some of the most twisted, miserable people I have ever met had no physical handicap. Some of the world’s greatest and most useful people have been handicapped.

“The Messiah” was composed by Handel, who was suffering from a paralyzed right side and arm. Catherine Booth, in the last year of her life, said that she could not remember one day free from pain.

Helen Keller has written, “I thank God for my handicaps, for through them I have found myself, my work, and God.” Some of the most radiant Christians I have ever met were “wheelchair” saints. May God give you grace to “triumph in affliction.”

Prayer for the day: When physical afflictions come into my life, may they draw me closer to You, my beloved Lord Jesus Christ.

Andrew Wommack’s Daily 1 November 2017 Devotional – His Will Is In The Word

Topic: His Will Is In The Word [Wednesday November 1, 2017]

John 17:17 “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”

Text: John 17:17

In this prayer, Jesus prayed twice that the Father would keep His disciples from evil. Then He reveals the way that God will accomplish this – through His Word, the holy scriptures. Anyone who desires to live for God, reject the devil, and reject the world’s system, must know God’s Word.

We must study the scriptures, for they reveal the will of God for our actions and attitudes. To be filled with the knowledge of God’s will, we must be filled with God’s Word. God’s Word is His will! Those who are ignorant of God’s Word will be ignorant of God’s will.

Knowledge of God’s will is foundational in developing Christian conduct and character. There is no way we can fulfill God’s will if we don’t know what it is. The starting point for any Christian is understanding God’s will for his life. How can a person obtain such knowledge? The first step is to desire it. Jeremiah 29:13 says, “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” People ask the Lord for knowledge of His will but don’t receive it because they aren’t seeking with ALL THEIR HEART. No one who has ever sought the Lord with all his heart has ever been disappointed.

The Holy Spirit is the dispenser of God’s wisdom. It is through Him that we know the things God has revealed to us. One of the primary ministries of the Holy Spirit is to reveal God’s will to us.

There is no way we can walk worthy of the Lord and please Him if we don’t know His will. Furthermore, we can’t be fruitful without the knowledge of His will. God has provided all that we need to be successful and victorious in this life. Believe His Word.

TREM’s Daily 1 November 2017 Devotional by Dr. Mike Okonkwo - Right Believing Brings Right Living

Topic: Right Believing Brings Right Living — Wednesday November 1, 2017.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16 KJV)

The reason God has been patient with us is that He wants all of us saved and for this reason, there is a need for us to repent. Repentance is not just feeling sorry about something but turning to what God said. Turning from what the devil is saying and turning towards God completely. Paul advised in 2 Peter 3:18 (KJV) “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. …” Understand that by grace everything has been made available to you. Don’t try to earn what God has made available or struggle to become what you already are. As far as God is concerned, you are good. So don’t try to earn it or impress God. He knew there was no way you could impress him, and that is why Christ came and died so you can be lifted.

You see, understanding will create boldness in you. When you were a sinner you did some things right, but that did not make you righteous. You became a sinner not because of what you did, but because of the fall of Adam which made us all sinners. Such that once you are born into this world you automatically become a sinner. As the fall of Adam made us all sinners, the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ made us righteous. So it is not what you did or didn’t’ do.

Right believing brings about right living. If you believe wrongly you will never live right. It is a blessing that is unearned, is not prayed nor fasted for. God has given it to us freely. Romans 5:18 (KJV) says “Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.” It is important that you are founded upon the truth that Jesus who is the rock of our salvation. The Bible says upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. The rock here is the revelation of the Lord Jesus.

Kenneth and Gloria Copeland’s Daily November 1, 2017 Devotional: The Power of Love

Topic: The Power of Love [Wednesday November 1, 2017]

But faith…worketh by love. – Galatians 5:6

I used to wonder why we believers didn’t see more of the power of God operating among us than we do. With what we know about faith and the Word, it seemed to me signs and wonders and miracles should be happening all the time.

So, one day I asked, “Lord, why isn’t the power of God turned up to a higher volume in the Church?”

Do you know what He said? He told me we weren’t walking in enough love yet.

God wants us to have power. But first, He has to be sure we’ll use that power in love. He wants to know that we won’t take it and mix it with judgment and criticism and blast people out of the water.

Kenneth, He said, I can’t afford to back your words with supernatural power in a church service on Sunday morning and then have you get on the freeway that night and lash out at someone because he pulled over into your lane. You’d blow him off the highway. I can’t leave the power of Almighty God at a high volume in the mouth of an unmerciful fool.

Then He reminded me of a time I took my son, John, hunting. He was just a little guy at the time, barely big enough to keep his gun from knocking him on his back every time he’d pull the trigger. I was teaching him how to shoot, and he was coming along pretty well.

That day we were walking along out at Gloria’s grandparents’ farm and John spotted one of the biggest tarantula spiders I’d ever seen. It was clinging to the wall of the barn. When John saw that spider, he took aim. He was going to blow that bug away.

If I hadn’t stopped him, he would have too. And it wouldn’t have dawned on him until it was all over that he was going to blow a hole in the barn at the same time. From my grown-up perspective, I could see that would be foolishness. He couldn’t. He was looking through the eyes of a child.

Do you want God to put a shotgun of spiritual power in your hand, so you can blow the works of the devil to kingdom come? Then focus on love. Pursue it. Practice it. Study it. Grow up in it. Then you’ll see the power of God operating through you.

Our Daily Bread 1 November 2017 Devotional – Who Is This?

Our Daily Bread 1 November 2017 Devotional – Who Is This?

Topic: Who Is This? — Wednesday November 1, 2017.

Read: Mark 4:35–41, Bible in a Year: Jeremiah 24–26; Titus 2

They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!” Mark 4:41

“Remove everything from your desks, take out a piece of paper and pencil.” When I was a student these dreaded words announced that “test time” had come.

In Mark 4, we read that Jesus’s day, which started with teaching by the seaside (v. 1), ended with a time of testing on the sea (v. 35). The boat that had been used as a teaching platform was used to transport Jesus and a handful of His followers to the other side of the sea. During the journey (while an exhausted Jesus slept in the back of the boat), they encountered a swirling storm (v. 37). Drenched disciples woke Jesus with the words, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” (v. 38). Then it happened. The One who had exhorted the crowds to “Listen!” earlier in the day (v. 3), uttered a simple, powerful command to the winds of nature—“Quiet! Be still!” (v. 39).

The wind obeyed and the wonder of fear-filled disciples was displayed with the words, “Who is this?” (v. 41). The question was a good one but it would take them a while to honestly and correctly conclude that Jesus was God’s Son. Sincere, honest, open-hearted questions and experience lead people to the same conclusion today. He is more than a teacher to listen to; He is the God to be worshiped.

Prayer: Father, thank You for Your Word that helps us to see Jesus as Your Son. Please help me to listen to You and to trust that You are in control.

“Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.” Matthew 8:19

Insight:

Mark’s gospel record is filled with mystery and subtlety, yet moves to a clear destination—declaring the identity of Jesus. Throughout his account, Mark provides indicators of Jesus’s identity, beginning with the opening statement of his record, “The beginning of the good news about Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God” (Mark 1:1). He continues to present his case through events like Jesus’s baptism, where the heavenly voice declares, “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased” (v. 11); and Jesus’s transfiguration when the heavenly voice confirms, “This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!” (9:7). Finally, what Mark has asserted and the Father has declared is affirmed. But, shockingly, this affirmation comes from a Roman centurion. Following the miraculous events surrounding the crucifixion of Jesus, this military officer agrees, “Surely this man was the Son of God!” (15:39).

Who is Jesus? The Son of God who is worthy of all praise.

Seeds of Destiny 1 November 2017 by Pastor Paul Enenche — The Goodness Of Walking With God

Seeds of Destiny 1 November 2017 by Pastor Paul Enenche — The Goodness Of Walking With God

Topic: The Goodness of Walking With God [Wednesday November 1, 2017]

Scripture: And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him. Genesis 5:24

Thought For Today: They that walk with God can never waste in life. Life becomes toxic without God

I welcome you to this Eleventh month of the Year 2017 in the Name of Jesus. I declare that all the blessings that God had packaged for you since the beginning of this year that have not yet entered your hands will not elude you in this month, in Jesus’ Name.

Today, we are looking at the goodness of walking with God.

Walking with God simply means serving and worshipping God, relating with Him in prayer and advancing with him in every sphere of life. It is being in motion in the company of God. Simply put, serving God is living according to God’s will, precepts and principles.

It is imperative to understand that it pays to walk with God. This is depicted in our anchor scripture above as seen in the life of Enoch.

The truth is, they that walk with God can never waste in life. Life becomes toxic without God. To avoid walking with God is to forfeit the goodness of God.

What Then is the Goodness of Walking with God?

1. Walking with God is key to escaping the wrath of the adversaries of Life.

2. Walking with God is key to acceleration and progress in life. Hebrews 11:5

3. Walking with God is key to the preservation of life.

4. Walking with God is key to upright character: Nothing corrects character like the maintenance of God’s company.

Keys To Walking With God:

1. Absolute surrender to God.

2. Spending time with God.

3. Following His steps and instructions in the Scripture.

Today, I decree that as you genuinely and passionately walk with God, He will cause you to escape any calamity associated with this season, in Jesus’ Name.

Remember This: They that walk with God can never waste in life. Life becomes toxic without God.

Assignment(s):

1. Study the lives of those who walked with God in the Scripture like Enoch, Moses, Abraham, etc.

2. Determine to spend time with God in prayer, the study of the Word, fasting, worship.

Prayer: O LORD, I desire a deeper relationship and walk with You. Help me to experience the goodness of being in Your Company, LORD in Jesus’ Name.
