Christian charity agrees divorce laws are ‘outdated’

The Nuffield Foundation’s new report called ‘Finding Fault’ claims sixty per cent of divorcing couples are making up stories of adultery and bad behaviour in order for the divorce to go through quickly under “fault-based” laws.

Harry Benson, a Christian and Research Director for the Marriage Foundation told Premier he agrees with the report’s recommendation for reform.

He told Premier’s News Hour: “A little over half of all divorces involve this fault at the moment, but it’s essentially a sham.

“It’s something that you end up having to concoct. If you want your divorce to happen within two years, you have to make up a reason. So it doesn’t necessarily reflect what people’s behaviour is.”

A majority of divorce petitions in England and Wales still rely on allegations of fault.

In 1990 a Law Commission report set out six problems with fault-based divorce, including that the law was confusing and misleading, discriminatory and unjust, distorted bargaining positions, provoked unnecessary hostility, made things worse for children by exacerbating parental conflict whilst at the same time doing nothing to save marriages.

As a result, parliament went on to pass a no-fault divorce regime with the Family Law Act 1996, but logistical challenges meant that this was never implemented.

The report calls for lawmakers to remove fault divorce, so that divorce can solely be based on confirmation by at least one spouse that the…

Mom is Jailed for Refusing to Vaccinate Son with Vaccine Containing Aborted Baby Cells

Mom is Jailed for Refusing to Vaccinate Son with Vaccine Containing Aborted Baby Cells

A mom in Michigan recently spent several days in jail after she refused to allow her son to receive a vaccine which used cells from aborted babies.

According to LifeNews.com, Detroit resident Rebecca Bredow initially agreed to allow her son to receive the vaccine, but later refused. Bredow’s ex-husband wanted the boy to receive the vaccine.

Bredow was sentenced to seven days in jail for failing to allow the boy’s father to have a say in their son’s health, according to a judge.

Despite the jail time, Bredow says she doesn’t regret her position. “I was trying to protect my kids,” she said. “I was trying to stand up for what I believed in, and it was worth it for me to try and take the risk, because I was trying to stop the vaccinations from happening.”

Bredow is also supported by Right to Life of Michigan, which issued a statement saying that parents should be able to follow their conscience in choosing not to vaccinate their children.

“There is absolutely no question that a significant number of common vaccines are directly cultured using cells from aborted unborn children,” said Legislative Director for Right to Life Michigan Ed Rivet. “That is how the vaccines are produced. We have long supported the right of parents to refrain from using them or to request alternative versions cultured in untainted cell lines.”

Judge OKs Suit over Baby Body Parts Research

Judge OKs Suit over Baby Body Parts Research

A woman’s lawsuit against a New Mexico abortion center will proceed, thanks to a New Mexico judge’s refusal to dismiss her case.

Jessica Duran filed suit last year against Southwestern Women’s Options (SWO) for not telling her about its relationship with the University of New Mexico (UNM) and the possibility that it sent her dead baby there for research.

The abortion center and abortionist Curtis Boyd filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit, but New Mexico District Judge Clay Campbell ruled this month that all seven counts filed against SWO—including negligent supervision and intentional infliction of emotional distress—merit a trial by jury.

Because the consent form Duran signed before her abortion “only authorized the clinic and/or physician to perform any research, the plaintiff Jessica Duran did not have knowledge of the facts, conditions, or circumstances that would have caused her to make a reasonable inquiry into whether someone or some other entity other than the clinic and/or treating physician may perform research on any donated tissue or parts,” Campbell wrote.

Elisa Martinez, director of New Mexico Alliance for Life, told me her organization is optimistic Duran will win at trial, since the facts are “clear and unambiguous.”

“This case is a monumental decision in that it shows what we and the Select Panel on Infant Lives have been pointing out all along that women are being…

Christian Northern Ireland politician ‘frustrated’ at Stormont deadlock

Northern Ireland’s political parties have until the end of Monday to reach a power sharing agreement; otherwise Westminster will impose a budget.

Jim Shannon told Premier the critical issue is the Irish Language Act proposed by DUP rival party Sinn Fein.
Shannon said it was an “impossible request”.

He told Premier: “If someone wants their child at school wants their child to speak the Irish language, that power within that act means that school, even if it’s only one person, will have to have a classroom, book work and appropriate time. There will be costs of course to the government department.”

He added that the “powerful” act would mean that street signs would have to be written in Irish and 10 per cent of all people that apply for Civil Service jobs must speak the Irish language. Shannon said these are all unfair rules.

He told Premier: “There are many people in my constituency which have an interest in it and don’t see it as a problem, but the Irish language act gives them the authority to do things above and beyond any other language act would have.”

Sinn Fein’s Conor Murphy said while he believed a deal could still be done, it “needs to be a deal for all in our society and not just for the political leaderships of unionism”.

Shannon said although it will be unfortunate if an agreement isn’t reached, at least other important issues will be addressed if there’s direct rule from Westminster.

    He told…

Christian MP accused of harassing job applicant

The Ex-Welsh secretary has apologised for sending explicit texts to a woman he interviewed for a job in 2013 when she was 19-years-old.

The senior MP, who stood for the Conservative leadership last year, admitted to The Mail on Sunday that he had said “some pretty outrageous things” to the woman after meeting her, and that the messages “basically amount to unfaithfulness”.

He said he had been “foolish” but insisted there he had no sexual contact with the teenager.

He went on to say: “We exchanged messages which talked about sex but none of it was meant seriously.”

International trade minister Mark Garnier is accused of harassing a female aide.

The 53-year-old MP for Wyre Forest said he was “not going to be dishonest” and admitted to asking his Commons Secretary Caroline Edmondson to buy sex toys for him.

However, the father of three strongly denies the harassment claim, and described the incidents as “good-humoured high jinks” and “amusing conversation”.

The report comes after Downing Street warned on Friday that Theresa May would take “serious action” against any minister found to have acted inappropriately.

A list of 13 MPs facing harassment allegations has been circulating at Westminster, according to The Daily Telegraph and the Prime Minister ordered a Cabinet Office inquiry into whether Mr Garnier breached the ministerial code.

The Guido Fawkes website has reported 36 serving Conservative MPs have…

Pakistani Christian beaten up in UK

On Friday evening, Tajamal Amar received a broken nose and several deep cuts to his head outside a restaurant and was unconscious for six hours.

He woke up in Royal Derby Hospital after being transported there by emergency services.

The 45 year old delivery driver had two poppies on his car and a cross hanging from the rear-view mirror, which he thinks provoked the attack.

Mr Amar remembers being stared at by a group of Muslim men.

He told the British Pakistani Christian Association: “On the day of my attack the visible display of a cross in my car and two poppies just below the front bonnet triggered the violence against me. I know this because for a few days before the attack the same men glared at me after they noticed my Christian paraphernalia.”

He added that it was not the first time his family had received unwelcome attention.

He said: “Several times local Pakistani people in Derby have taken offence from the fact that I am Christian, when they first find out many stop talking to me. My wife and I have often been shunned.”

Police are currently concerned about his safety and are patrolling outside his house as well as recommending that he move.

No one has yet been arrested and the motive of the attack is not known.

Anyone who saw the attack or who could help the police with their inquiries should call 101 quoting reference 17000454535.
