It’s not possible to be righteous and live a holy life in this pervert and godless world; perfection is not in human but divine, this and more you hear many people say. Well, they’re all correct because they believe, to live a righteous life depends on one’s effort or one’s good works.  The Bible says that, Noah was a just man and perfect in his generation. That was the era of law. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 5:48, “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect”. If it were not possible, He wouldn’t have mentioned it.

What makes it possible for us to be righteous in this unrighteous world is not based on our efforts or good works, but the finished work of Jesus on the cross. God made Jesus to bear our sin so that through His death and resurrection, we will become His righteousness. When God looks at you and I, what He sees is not us but Jesus our righteousness. We are the righteousness of God through Christ finished work. Until you become a new man made of the Spirit of Christ and reconciled back to God, old things will still prevail over you. Accept Jesus into your life today

Topic: Hang On [Friday June 16, 2017]

So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. – Isaiah 55:11

Did you know that the battleground for the problem you’re facing right now is in your mind and on your lips? If you’ll hit the devil with the Word and cast the care of the situation over on God, you’ll win.

Let me warn you though, hanging on to the Word isn’t always easy. The devil knows that if he doesn’t steal it from you, you’ll use it to enforce his defeat.

So don’t be surprised when he sends an evil spirit to exalt itself against the Word of God. If you’re sick, he may begin to tell you, “You’re not healed. You know that healing’s not for today. Even if it were, it wouldn’t work for you. It might work for someone else but not you.”

If he starts to tell you that kind of thing, don’t buy it! Don’t start worrying around about it and thinking, Oh my, I’m afraid I’m not going to get healed. I sure don’t feel healed. Why, I’m probably going to just get worse and worse….

Remember this: It’s the Word that does the work, not the one holding on to it. It’ll work for anyone who’ll put it to work. It’ll work for you just like it worked for Jesus when He walked the earth.

He told Satan, “It is written!” No matter what the devil tries to tell you, refuse to let go of the Word. Tell him what is written concerning your situation. Let the Word fight its own fight. It’ll whip the devil every time.

Topic: Jesus Paid It All [Friday June 16, 2017]

John 8:28 “Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.”

John 8:12-30

This is the second of three times that Jesus spoke of Himself being “lifted up” (1st – Jn. 3:14; 3rd – Jn. 12:32-33). As the scripture explains in John 12:33, this was a reference to crucifixion as the means of His death. The lifting up is speaking of being lifted up from the earth and suspended on a cross in crucifixion. The Jews understood that Jesus was speaking of death.

The crucifixion didn’t just happen. It was planned by God. Does this mean that God bears all responsibility and those who were actually instrumental in the rejection and crucifixion of Jesus are not guilty? Not at all. Jesus came to the earth to die in our place and thereby purchase redemption for us. That was His plan but He didn’t force anyone to fulfill it. His ministry and message placed Him in direct opposition with the devil and his followers. Their hatred for Jesus caused them of their own free will to crucify Jesus.

God, in all His wisdom, simply knew what man would do and He determined to use their rejection of His Son to accomplish His will. He never controls our will to accomplish His.

If a person truly understands the message of the cross, then he understands grace. Jesus didn’t just make a token sacrifice for us. He paid it all. There’s no sacrifice that we can make that will add to or replace the sacrifice of Christ. He did it all, and we can thank Him forever!

Open my eyes to see wonderful things in your Word. — Psalm 119:18 (TLB)

Some, who doubt that the Bible is the true Word of God, doubt it because they are unwilling to ascribe to God anything they cannot themselves achieve. If you have any uncertainty about the inspiration of the Bible, go back and look at it again. Look at it in the light of a person who has been staring at a mud puddle all his life, and who is confronted for the first time by a view of the ocean!

Perhaps you are only now catching your first glimpse of God’s unlimited power. Perhaps you are only now beginning to understand Him for what He actually is. For if God is the Spirit that Jesus declares Him to be, there is no problem of providence, there is no problem of His sovereignty in the affairs of men, there is no problem of His inspiration of the men who wrote the Bible. Everything fits into place, once you understand who and what God really is.

Read: Ephesians 2:1–10, Bible in a Year: Nehemiah 4–6; Acts 2:22–47

You were dead in your transgressions and sins. Ephesians 2:1

As a young man, my dad was traveling with a group of friends to an out-of-town sporting event when the tires of their car slipped on the rain-soaked roads. They had an accident—a bad accident. One of his friends was paralyzed and another was killed. My dad was declared dead and taken to the morgue. His shocked and grief-stricken parents came to identify him. But my dad revived from what turned out to be a deep coma. Their mourning turned to joy.

In Ephesians 2, the apostle Paul reminds us that apart from Christ we are “dead in [our] transgressions and sins” (v. 1). But because of His great love for us, “God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions” (vv. 4–5). Through Christ we have been brought from death to life.

Thank You, Father, for love that conquers sin, life that conquers death, and grace that has conquered my heart.

So in every sense, we all owe our life to the Father in heaven. Through His great love, He has made it possible for those of us who were dead in sin to have life and purpose through His Son.

Prayer: Thank You, Father, for love that conquers sin, life that conquers death, and grace that has conquered my heart. May my life be a sweet aroma of praise to You.

We owed a debt we could not pay, but Jesus paid the debt He did not owe.

Insight:

In most world religions, people seek to gain favor from a deity—whether offering a sacrifice or promising to change one’s ways, the emphasis on human works is central. Yet in the writings of Paul we see that through Christ’s sacrifice we are saved by God’s grace and not by works. This is the central theme of the gospel. What is so extraordinary about the free gift of salvation by faith is its eternal impact. Although we will someday have to face physical death, the spiritual death of eternal separation from God has been replaced with eternal life.

Topic: Ignorance of a Man [Friday June 16, 2017]

Text: Job 32:1-10

Key Verse: “So these three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes” (Job 32:1).

It is often said that ignorance is darker than darkness. A man speaks from limited understanding he has about himself and his environment. But God relates with us based on His unlimited understanding of the universe and the man He created.

It is a known fact that the wealth of knowledge we have cannot be juxtaposed with the knowledge of God about ourselves and our neighbours. From our text, we read that Job and his friends could not be on the same page concerning his predicament. His friends supposed that it was of no use to attempt to reason any longer with a man who justified himself before God. The truth is, they failed to convince Job of any point, because they argued from false principles.

It was not merely because Job was righteous in his own estimate, that they ceased to answer him; it was because their arguments had no effect in convincing him and they had nothing new to say. He seemed to be obstinately bent on maintaining good opinion of himself in spite of all their reasoning while they sat down in silence. It is clear from the text that human wisdom is limited concerning spiritual issues or challenges in life as it happened to Job.

The Holy Spirit plays a major role in our lives on such matters. We stand at greater advantage today as Jesus Christ, the Wisdom of God personified is living within us. Failure to accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour will be ruinous. Failure to continue with Him till the end is doubly unwise. A discerning disciple must be ready to allow God to guide and lead him through this wilderness of life as we cannot see beyond what our facilities provide.

Thought for the day: One with God in challenges of life guarantees success.

To live without becoming a voice on earth is to live a life of waste. You have not lived fully until you have maximized your life by becoming the best God created you to be.

Now, how can you maximize your life?

A major way to maximize your life is by connecting to the voice of God!

Knowing what God wants you to do and doing it with your life is the best thing that can happen to you.

Hearing God and knowing the will of God is more luxurious than having One Billion Naira in your account. The man who receives instructions from God is at a higher level of life than a godless billionaire. Hearing God is a treasure because instruction is the key to acceleration. Instruction is key to manifestation and distinction.

So, knowing what God wants you to do and doing it, is a major secret of maximizing your life.

My counsel is, connect to the Voice of God at the place of prayer and through His Word.

Remember this: Knowing what God wants you to do and doing it with your life is the best thing that can happen to you.

2. Ask God to speak to you through His Word and at the place of prayer.

Topic: God Is Not Selfish [Thursday, 15th June 2017]

…for God is Love. 1 John 4:8

God is perfect, with no iota of imperfection in Him (2 Samuel 22:31). That’s why we are urged to be perfect like Him (Matthew 5:48). However, we are not the focus here, God is. Even though a bulk of us don’t know the actual meaning of selfishness, we know it involves focusing on oneself to the exclusion of all others, and  this is a negative character to exhibit. 1 Corinthians 13:5 says Love “…is not self-seeking”. Now, a couple of you may raise eyebrows here because it is well established in scriptures that all things are for God’s pleasure. (Isaiah 43:7; Ephesians 1:8; Psalms 105:22, etc). That’s okay. However, the plans of the Lord, which none can instruct, are for our own good.

Firstly, in His plan, He sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins, that we may live and be restored back to fellowship with Him, and eternal life (John 3:16-17, 1 John 2:2). Giving up one’s only son for a people that do turned their back on you can’t be termed as being selfish. It is the most selfless act anyone could attempt. When Christ was in the mount of olives He had the chance to follow His own will, but He gave up His will to save us (Luke 22:42). Man, that’s selfless! All the way to the cross, He was thinking only about us.

Secondly, He takes pleasure in us, and beautifies us with His blessings “for the Lord taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation” (Psalms 149:4). Thirdly, even His chastening is so we can partake of His holiness “for they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness” (Hebrews 12:10 ). He made us to partake in His Divine nature (2 Peter 1:4) and be joint-heirs with Jesus to all that He possesses. God is not self-seeking. He seeks the good of all. Be like God.
