Wireless Phone Charging Furniture News: Ikea Set to Launch New High-Tech Furniture

People walk outside and IKEA outlet in Prague. The Swedish furniture giant has recently become embroiled in the horse meat scandal currently sweeping Europe.

Christian Post Report – Ikea just introduced its new line of wireless phone charging furniture at the MWC 2015 in Barcelona, Spain.

The Swedish multinational furniture manufacturer has launched a line of phone charging furniture at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain this week. The company’s Home Smart range will allow mobile phone users to charge their devices wirelessly wherever they are in the home without having to plug their smartphones into a socket.

The first of its kind in the world, the furniture collection includes bedside tables, coffee tables, lamps, and remote charging pads that can be installed on existing furniture to turn them into wireless charging stations.

The charging pads are equipped with Qi technology that allows devices to be charged without the need for a wired charger.

There are currently 80 smartphone models in the market that are Qi-compatible, including the newly launched Samsung S6, Google’s Nexus 6. Ikea is also providing wireless charging solutions in the form of specially made phone cases for older models and incompatible smartphones to enable more users to utilize Ikea’s new line of furniture.

Ikea’s new range of wireless charging furniture will be made available in the UK by April starting at £30 ($46), coinciding with the release of the Samsung Galaxy S6.

Ikea’s wireless charging furniture comes with charging surfaces that need to be plugged into a wall outlet to render them “wireless,” and while detractors have pointed out the company’s technology hasn’t reached competitive standards in terms of wireless technology, it has still paved the way towards the direction where topping up a mobile device no longer becomes a to-do task, but something that happens whenever and wherever it is set down on a piece of furniture at home.

iPhone 7 Release Date, Specs Rumors: New Patent Hints Future iPhones Will Be Waterproof

Christian Post Report – The iPhone 6 and its bigger sibling, the iPhone 6 Plus, are considered among the highest quality products in the market today.

However, attention is quickly shifting to what the new iPhone 7 could look like and what new specs and features it will have. The device is likely to have a release date of around September 2015, and already a new rumored feature could make the iPhone lineup even better.

According to a report by Phone Arena, Apple has recently submitted a new patent that will enable the company to include a waterproof feature for its upcoming devices.

In the report, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has recently granted the Cupertino manufacturer a feature that can help battle moisture ingress and water moisture in smartphones.

The technology reportedly requires coating of internal parts with hydrophobic coating that is as thin as a micron. This can be achieved by placing the component in a chamber filled with fluoropolymer gas.

Then, voltage will be applied, turning the gas into plasma, which in turn sticks to the component.

In the report, while the technology is certainly promising, there are still a number of obstacles that Apple would face along the way. But knowing the Cupertino manufacturer, it will certainly find a way to make this tech happen.

Once the new waterproof technology becomes a part of the iPhone specifications, Apple may also be able to use it for its other devices such as the iPads, or even the MacBooks.

Aside from the waterproof tech, the iPhone 6S or iPhone 7 is rumored to get other upgrades such as 2GB of RAM, an upgraded operating system, the iOS 9, as well as an improved fingerprint sensor, among other things.

MacBook Air Retina 2015 Release Date Coming Soon, Specs Include 12-Inch Display,

Ever since the Retina technology made its way to the MacBook Pros, a lot of Apple fans have been waiting for the tech to reach the company’s Air lineup. Unfortunately, the MacBook Air with Retina Display release date has been delayed since last year.

Christian Post Report – However, a recent report may have confirmed that the new ultraportable MacBooks are coming very soon.

According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, the new MacBook Air with a higher resolution display is already under way. The laptop is already under mass production, but they would not be shipped yet until April or June.

Based on previous rumors, the new MacBook Air with Retina Display will be Apple’s first laptop that boasts a 12-inch display rather than the usual 11.6 and 13.3-inch models.

In addition, an earlier report from Mark Gurman of 9to5mac also mentioned that the device will have a “radically new design.”

Dubbed as the “MacBook Stealth” (as it’s called internally), the device takes out the full-sized USB ports, the MagSafe connector, and the SD Card.

Instead, a reversible USB Type-C port, headphone jack and dual-microphones would replace the ports.

The upcoming Macbook Air with Retina Display is also expected to boast the newest Intel Broadwell chipset, which is even more powerful and power-efficient than Haswell.

The new chip does not support fans anymore, resulting in an even thinner frame.

In the report, the Apple Watch will be officially unveiled next week, though it will not be surprising if the Cupertino manufacturer will include the newest MacBook Air in the event.

Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet Release Date 2015: Specs Review – Gets Hefty Price Tag in EU

After getting announced at the Mobile World Congress earlier this week, the new Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet got a price tag right away. The Android-powered slate is now available for pre-order in Sony’s French website.

The device costs €559 for the Wi-Fi only variant. Of course, the LTE version will be a little more expensive that at €659.

Considering EU and USD pricing for devices are often the similar, GSM Arena speculated that it will be cost around $559 as well in the U.S.

The Xperia Z4 Tablet is a clear contender against the iPad Air 2 with its slim design and powerful specs. Some of its features include a 10.1″ IPS display with QHD (2560 x 1600) resolution, a Snapdragon 810 chipset, and 3GB of RAM.

Additional specs on board include a 32GB built-in memory, 8MP Sony ExmorRS primary shooter, and a 5MP wide-angle selfie camera.

The device boasts a really thin frame, measuring just 6.1mm. Considering it has a huge 6,000mAh battery, that is certainly impressive.

Like previous Sony devices, the Xperia Z4 Tablet is water and dust resistant.

For consumers who are looking for a Microsoft Surface Pro alternative, the Xperia Z4 Tablet can also be automatically transformed into a laptop.

The Sony Bluetooth keyboard costs €180 when bought separately, but it can be bundled with either the Wi-Fi only (€659) or the LTE (€759) versions.

Christian Post Report – The Vancouver Canuks will try to get revenge as they face-off against the San Jose Sharks at SAP Center at San Jose in the National Hockey League. The game has a start time of 10 p.m. ET and can be watched online through live stream (details below).

After only meeting a few days ago, the bitter taste of the 6-2 loss should still be in the mouths of the Canucks.

The Sharks dominated from the start of the match, scoring the game’s first goal within the first four minutes from a Chris Tierney wrister.

Two more goals inside thirty seconds from the Sharks completed the dominating first period and it seemed that things would be a disaster for the vistors from there.

However, Henrik Sedin gave the Canucks some life in the second period, scoring only after a minute from the restart and then again in the 30th minute of the match to close the gap to one goal.

Matt Nieto had other plans after restoring a two-goal lead in the 32nd minute and then the Sharks would go on and put on the finishing touches in the third with two more goals, each by Nieto and Marc-Edouard Vlasic.

And heading into their final meeting of the regular season, the winner will take the season series as they are currently tied at two wins each.

Even more importantly, with the season coming to a close, points are essential for those who want to reach the playoffs.

As it stands, the Canucks are second in the Pacific, while the Sharks are fifth. And if the Sharks fail to get points they will miss out on the post-season.

The Sharks must need great games from Joe Pavelski and Joe Thornton, who have 60 and 55 points respectively.

Logan Couture should also play an important role if the Sharks want to beat their rivals.

As for the Canucks, the veteran leadership of twins Henrik and Daniel Sedin must be on full display in the contest. The twins have both played 64 games each and Henrik has 59 points as compared to Daniel’s 56.

Radim Vrbata has also played well for the Canucks this season, already scoring 23 goals and dishing out the same number of assists.

NFL 2015 News, Rumors: Should the NFL Allow Its Players to Smoke Pot?

Christian Post Report – The NFL operates a franchise in a state were marijuana use is now legal. The league through it’s anti drug policy does not allow its players to use this ever becoming more legal drug. They test players for street drugs once a year. As Marijuana use becomes more socially acceptable, some believe the league will eventually have to back off this stance at least when it comes to marijuana. Some believe that the league is already complicit in its player’s use of drug.

Speaking to Cannabis Business Executives Breakfast, former NFL player Nate Jackson made some interesting comments that sort of expose the hypocrisy that comes with the NFL’s anti drug stance when it comes to marijuana. The key thing to remember here is Jackson played football in a state where marijuana use is legal.

He stated, as reported by Pro Football Talk, “They’re aware that probably over half of their players smoke weed. They’ve been doing it since they were teenagers. The fact that they’ve been doing it that whole time and still made it to the NFL and are able to satisfy the demands of very, very strict employers on a daily basis means that their marijuana use is in check. Marijuana is not a problem in their lives.”

PFT Writer Darin Gant wrote, “An organization as image-conscious as the NFL isn’t going to start marketing Broncos-logo bongs or Seahawks-brand rolling papers anytime soon (although the revenue possibilities might be the thing that changes their minds). And a league spokesman noted it consulted with its medical experts, who didn’t suggest allowing marijuana as a pain-management option. But the reality is a large portion of the league is already smoking, and it apparently isn’t hurting the popularity of the game, or the athletic abilities of those using.”

Not to mention is some of the places the NFL conducts its business marijuana is perfectly legal.

Chicago Bears NFL 2015 Trade News, Rumors: Brandon Marshall Traded to New York Jets

The Chicago Bears have traded WR Brandon Marshall to the New York Jets. The deal, which cannot be completed until Tuesday when the League year starts, is pending Marshall passing a physical. Since he was hampered by injuries last season that may not be a foregone conclusion. This move has implications for both teams but for the Bears it seems they are moving on from a highly talented, relatively affordable playmaker.

The return for the Bears, who sent two third round picks to Miami to get Marshall in 2012, are getting no where near that in return. Most reports have them getting a mid to late round pick. New Bears’ Coach John Fox likely doesn’t want the distraction of Marshall who publically criticized QB Jay Cutler while the team was struggling last year.

For the Jets the trade likely means they are ready to move on from WR Percy Harvin. The Seattle Seahawks dealt him to New York last October for a conditional 2015 pick. With Marshall in the mix as well as Eric Decker means the team will not want to keep Harvin and his 10.5 million dollar cap hit. Getting something in return for the troubled Harvin may be an uphill battle for a team looking to surround a young QB with positive, elite talent.

Marshall is owed 7.5 million guaranteed if he is on the roster as of March 12th. He is signed for 7.9 and 8.3 million for the next two seasons. A rebuilding team like the Bears can use that money for other players but that is still relatively affordable given what top WR’s get on the free agent market. That seems to indicate this was more about attitude than actual football skill. There are also some rumors that the team was miffed at Marshall for his weekly trips to New York to film a TV show, whish is possibly a jump start on his post playing career.

Christian Post Report – Eastern Conference heavyweights collide as the Boston Bruins meet the Philadelphia Flyers at TD Garden in the National Hockey League. The game can be watched online through live stream (details below).

In what is a very intriguing matchup, these two teams are known for their rich histories and physical play.

Currently, the Bruins are eighth in the East, eight points behind the Washington Captials and holding a slim two-point lead over the Florida Panthers.

They recently lost to the Calgary Flames 4-3 but earned an important point after the match ended in a shootout.

However, they have been less than impressive when playing at TD Garden, only winning one in their last five home games.

Patrice Bergeron has been their most consistent player so far, with a total of 45 points in 62 total games played. Loui Eriksson is a far second with 36 points, with already 21 assists to his tally.

They are facing a Flyers squad who are also looking to regain some form after dropping three of their last five matches.

Their most recent win came against the St. Louis Blues where they were trailing for most of the math until three goals in a span of 10 minutes sealed their 3-1 victory at the Wells Fargo Center.

Jakub Voracek leads the team in points with 65 so far, with Claude Giroux close behind with 60.

The Bruins have dominated their head-to-head matchups in recent times, winning their last five meetings.

A 3-1 thrashing was their latest result, with David Pastrank scoring twice in the game and helped the Bruins take a 3-0 lead before Giroux’s consolation goal in the 55th minute of the match.

If the season ended today, Boston would have the last playoff spot, while the Flyers would miss out completely so a win would go a long way as the season heads to the final stretch.
