Former Nixon Aide Wallace Henley on The Presidency is Under Siege and It’s Bad for the Nation

The views expressed in this commentary do not necessarily reflect those of BCNN1. Opinions expressed are solely those of the author(s).

“Dems Vow To Impeach Trump Again Even If He Wins 2020 Election — And They Could Succeed,” reads a headline in the International Business Times.

Donald Trump’s legions of enemies are doing the nation no great service by laying siege to his presidency.

I have worked in a White House under siege, and it’s not pretty — for either side, and especially the country.

In 1969, as Nixon’s aides were setting up the new administration, they could still remember the riot-fueled fires burning mere blocks from the White House just months before.

In fact, inner cities across America were aflame. Nixon’s young team felt if they did not stop the assault, the nation would fall. Rarely has there been a better example of “you had to have been there.” The view from inside the White House is drastically different from that looking in.

Studies show that people suffering the siege mentality see themselves as heroic victims, become paranoid, and share a distorted groupthink.

The siege mentality in the Nixon White House resulted in actions that ultimately brought down the president, unwittingly by his own people.

The belief surged through Nixon’s campaign organization and seeped into the White House that perhaps Fidel Castro was helping finance the campaign of Senator George McGovern, Nixon’s opponent in the 1972 presidential race. A team decided to break into the headquarters of the Democratic National Committee headquarters in the Watergate complex and bug phones to confirm Castro’s alleged involvement.

Ironically, just as the Democrats in the Trump era tried to prove Russian maneuvering for Trump in 2016, so, in 1972, some Republicans hoped to prove Castro’s collusion with McGovern.

The would-be buggers were caught, and the Watergate scandal swept down on Washington and the nation.

Oklahoma Pushes to Display ‘In God We Trust’ in All Government Buildings

Oklahoma Pushes to Display ‘In God We Trust’ in All Government Buildings

An Oklahoma atheist group is fighting back against a bill that could require all Oklahoma state buildings to display the national motto, “In God We Trust.”

Earlier this week, House Speaker Charles McCall sponsored the bill that was approved 6-1 in the House Rules Committee, according to Fox News. It will advance to the House floor and if passed and signed into law, it will take effect on November 1.

But critics of the bill, American Atheists, believe the new law could hurt the state.

“It sends the harmful message to atheists, agnostics, Buddhists, Hindus and other polytheists that they are unwelcome in Oklahoma,” said American Atheists Oklahoma State Director Tim Ward.

First Liberty Institute, a religious freedom advocacy group, responded to the complaint, saying the motto would bring unity to the state and country.

“Despite the claims of the perpetually offended, there are few things in our country today more unifying across the cultural and political spectrum than our national motto,” said Roger Byron, senior counsel at First Liberty. “During a time of confusion and division in our nation, the Oklahoma House is right to provide a visible reminder of a common state and national heritage.”

The signs would cost more than $85,000 of taxpayer money.

Oklahoma isn’t the first state to introduce a bill pushing forward the national motto. As previously reported by the

Alabama Pastor Ulysses Woodard Shot His Wife and Killed Himself After She Preached at a Women’s Conference

Pastor Derek Scott Gandy remembers how high in the spirit everyone was at the True Cornerstone Church in Mobile, Alabama, on Friday night after prophetess Alisha Woodard was done preaching.

“She was the speaker that night and she did a fantastic job. The church was so animated and inspired. Everybody was high in the Holy Ghost,” Gandy told The Christian Post Wednesday. “We just had an incredible worship experience that night. It was just fire from Heaven.”

It was the second night of the 2020 Women of God Through Promise Conference at True Cornerstone Church and prophetess Woodard, described by Gandy and his wife, Kula, as a woman in her 20s who recently graduated from college and brought a powerful message.

That night, said Kula, Woodard preached from 2 Kings in the Bible about the story of Elisha the prophet and the Shunammite woman.

In the story, the Shunammite woman shows great hospitality to Elisha so as a reward he prophesies that she would have a son to add to her childless marriage. She gives birth a year later and her son grows up. He eventually gets sick one day and dies, grieving the woman. She then goes back to Elisha for help and the prophet brings her son back to life.

“She was talking about how the Shunammite woman didn’t ask for the son that she received, but when she received that blessing she fought for the blessing that she had received from the man of God and how even when she went to go get the man of God, when the servant even asked how she was doing, she said it’s well. So she kept the faith, she kept pushing on and going on, and when she got to the man of God she just reminded him,” Kula said.

“She was just encouraging us all that even when things like death is all around, even when it seems like the blessing does not look like it’s gonna be there, just keep on pressing toward it.”

Little did the prophetess know that at the end of the service that night she would be forced to wrestle with death after the “devil … showed up in a deadly way,” according to pastor Gandy.

The Mobile Police Department said in a statement that at approximately 11:23 p.m. on Friday, they responded to the church on Halls Mill Road after receiving a report about a person being shot. When they got there, they saw a woman on the ground who had been shot.

The suspect involved reportedly fled the scene as police arrived. He was pursued by authorities and subsequently returned to the church. As officers approached his vehicle, however, the suspect shot himself. His car then crashed into the church. He was pronounced dead at the scene while his wife was taken to a local hospital where she is recovering.

Pastor Gandy and Kula identified the couple as prophetess Woodard and her late husband, Elder Ulysses Woodard. They both led the True Word of Deliverance Church of God in Prichard, Alabama, but for about two weeks now, they had been estranged.

“It (the estrangement) was very fresh,” said Gandy.

Elder Woodard was Gandy’s good friend and mechanic who always knew how to make him and his sons laugh.

What happened on Friday, he said, he never saw coming. Elder Woodard, he said, “wasn’t a monster.”

“I didn’t see this coming. … I didn’t see this coming. He wasn’t a monster, at least not that I’ve ever seen,” he said.

Pakistani Christian Man Left Partially Paralyzed After Muslim Mob Attacked Him and Two Others Over Church Construction in Punjab

A Pakistani Christian man is partially paralyzed after a mob of Muslim men shot two Christians and attacked another with an ax for constructing a church in a village in Punjab province.

The Union of Catholic Asia News reports that 25-year-old Azeem Gulzar is now paralyzed from the right shoulder down after he was shot in the head on Feb. 2 in Punjab’s Sahiwal district.

Gulzar’s cousin was also shot while his uncle was attacked with an ax, according to Gulzar’s younger brother, Waseem. All three men were taken to a hospital but have since been released.

Gulzar, a tailor, had donated a 550-square-foot plot to be used as the site of a new church for the town’s 150 Christians. However, plans for the church drew the ire of area Muslims as the plot shares a wall with a property owned by a Muslim school teacher.

The attack came after months of disagreements between Gulzar’s family and the owner of the neighboring plot, Muhammad Liaqat. The attack also followed the Christian community’s winning of consent from a district coordinator for the church’s construction.

However, a Muslim villager has claimed that community members were successful in getting a court to issue an injunction against the church’s construction.

Gulzar’s family built a wall and door on the construction site on Feb. 2. But later that night, about 15 Muslims descended on the property to tear down the wall. When Gulzar and his family tried to stop the destruction, they were attacked.

“It was Sunday. We spent the whole day building the wall and finished at 7 p.m.,” Waseem told UCANews.com. “We only wanted to secure our property against any forceful occupation. Three hours later, we heard a crowd chanting on our doorstep. As we tried to explain our stance, someone resorted to aerial firing. My brothers were the next targets.”

According to the U.K.-based Centre for Legal Aid, Assistance and Settlement, both the Muslim and Christian communities in the area have accused each other of launching the attack and two different police reports have been filed related to the altercation.

One Muslim villager told UCANews that some in the Christian community had “threatened to kill us” if they were stopped from constructing the church.

PODCAST: Whyte House Family Devotional Reading of Charles Spurgeon’s Morning and Evening #41 (with Daniel Whyte III)

This is Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International with the Whyte House Family Devotional Reading of Charles Spurgeon’s Morning and Evening podcast. This is Episode #41.

Charles Spurgeon was a prominent English Particular Baptist preacher. He was very influential among the Christians of various denominations during his age and even today, and is commonly called the “Prince of Preachers”. After some time of alternately searching for God and running from God, he had a powerful encounter which led him to give his life to Christ. Spurgeon was only 16 when he preached his first sermon and he began publishing books shortly afterward. At the time of his death, he had preached nearly 3,600 sermons and published 49 volumes of commentaries, sayings, anecdotes, illustrations and devotions. Spurgeon said, “encouraging thoughts are like honey to the heart”, and wrote this devotional in hopes that its uplifting messages for each day of the year would bring comfort and refreshment to our walk with God. He was inspired by Isaiah 50:4 which reads, “He wakeneth morning by morning. He wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned” and Psalm 63:5-6 which says, “My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips; when I remember Thee upon my bed, and meditate on Thee in the night watches.”

Romans 11:26 reads: “And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:”

When Moses sang at the Red Sea, it was his joy to know that all Israel were safe. Not a drop of spray fell from that solid wall until the last of God’s Israel had safely planted his foot on the other side the flood. That done, immediately the floods dissolved into their proper place again, but not till then. Part of that song was, “Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed.” In the last time, when the elect shall sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and of the Lamb, it shall be the boast of Jesus, “Of all whom thou hast given me, I have lost none.” In heaven there shall not be a vacant throne.

“For all the chosen race
Shall meet around the throne,
Shall bless the conduct of his grace,
And make his glories known.”

As many as God hath chosen, as many as Christ hath redeemed, as many as the Spirit hath called, as many as believe in Jesus, shall safely cross the dividing sea. We are not all safely landed yet:

“Part of the host have crossed the flood,
And part are crossing now.”

The vanguard of the army has already reached the shore. We are marching through the depths; we are at this day following hard after our Leader into the heart of the sea. Let us be of good cheer: the rear-guard shall soon be where the vanguard already is; the last of the chosen ones shall soon have crossed the sea, and then shall be heard the song of triumph, when all are secure. But oh! if one were absent—oh! if one of his chosen family should be cast away—it would make an everlasting discord in the song of the redeemed, and cut the strings of the harps of paradise, so that music could never be extorted from them.

PRAY.

Thank you for listening to the Morning and Evening podcast. If you do not know the Lord as your Savior, here is how you can be saved from Hell and walk with the Lord morning and evening until you go to that wonderful place called Heaven when you die:

First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”

Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 18:8: “Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Now that is bad news, but here’s the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will.

Romans 10:9 & 13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved… For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

If you believe that Jesus Christ died on the Cross for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead, and you want to trust Him for your Salvation today, please pray with me this simple prayer: Holy Father God, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. I am sorry for my sins, and today I choose to turn from my sins. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. I trust Jesus Christ as my Savior and I choose to follow Him as Lord from this day forward. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.

If you believed in your heart that Jesus Christ died on the Cross, was buried, and rose again, allow me to say, congratulations on doing the most important thing in life and that is accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour! For more information to help you grow in your newfound faith in Christ, go to Gospel Light Society.com and read “What To Do After You Enter Through the Door”. Jesus Christ said in John 10:9, “I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.”

If you accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior today, please email me at [email protected] and let us know. There is some free material that we want to send you. If you have a prayer request, please e-mail that to us as well, and we will pray for you until you tell us to stop.

God loves you. We love you. And may God bless you.

Clive Cussler dies at 88: The enduring legacy of writing

Clive Cussler was one of my favorite adventure writers. His
books about underwater explorer Dirk Pitt sold millions of copies and were made
into popular movies. I read his novels with gratitude for their historical
context and geopolitical intrigue.

In many ways, the author patterned his most famous character
on himself. Cussler participated in dozens of searches for old ships, including
one that found a steamship belonging to Cornelius Vanderbilt. Like Pitt, he was
a collector of antique cars. He lived large and invited us to do the same.

His writing career almost didn’t become a career, however.

He was working as an advertising copywriter in the 1960s (he
helped coin the Ajax laundry detergent slogan, “It’s stronger than
dirt”) while writing fiction on the side. He finished two manuscripts but
had no literary agent.

So he created one out of thin air. He invented “The
Charles Winthrop Agency,” got a friend to design a logo for it, and sent
an inquiry in its name to the William Morris Agency. The ruse worked—Cussler’s
book, Mediterranean Caper, was published in 1973.

He went on to write more than twenty Dirk Pitt novels as well as other adventure series and children’s books. Cussler died Monday at his home in Scottsdale, Arizona, at the age of eighty-eight.

The enduring legacy of writing

You and I know of the Apostle Paul because of the New Testament books that he wrote and that were written about him.

We know of St. Augustine because of his autobiography and other brilliant works of theology.

Thomas Aquinas authored Summa Theologica, a masterful exposition of Christian theology that remains foundational to Catholic thinking today.

Martin Luther launched the Protestant Reformation with a document he nailed to the door of the Wittenberg church.

John Calvin’s written systematic theology undergirds Reformed thinking more than four centuries later.

The martyred pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer…

PODCAST: The Scripture & the Sense Podcast #426: Amos 2:13-16 (with Daniel Whyte III)

This is Daniel Whyte III president of Gospel Light Society International with The Scripture & the Sense Podcast #426, where I read the Word of God and give the sense of it based on an authoritative commentary source such as the Bible Knowledge Commentary or Matthew Henry Commentary. This podcast is based upon Nehemiah 8:8 where it says Ezra and the Levites “read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.” The aim of this podcast is that through the simple reading of the Word of God and the giving of the sense of it, the church would be revived and the world would be awakened.

Today we are reading Amos 2:13-16.

13 Behold, I am pressed under you, as a cart is pressed that is full of sheaves.

14 Therefore the flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not strengthen his force, neither shall the mighty deliver himself:

15 Neither shall he stand that handleth the bow; and he that is swift of foot shall not deliver himself: neither shall he that rideth the horse deliver himself.

16 And he that is courageous among the mighty shall flee away naked in that day, saith the Lord.

________

That was Amos 2:13-16. Now here is the sense of it.

The Bible Knowledge Commentary reads:

Because of these sins God would not turn back His wrath. He would crush rebellious Israel as a cart crushes when loaded with grain. There would be no hope in the devastating day of battle. Out of the entire army, none would be able to save his life—not the swift, the strong, the warrior, the archer, the fleet-footed soldier, or the horseman. So overpowering would be the onslaught that even the bravest warriors would drop their weapons and cloaks in a futile attempt to flee. This wartime panic was sevenfold just as Israel’s sins were seven. The history of the Northern Kingdom came to an end only a few decades later with the Assyrian Captivity in 722 b.c. The roar of judgment ended. The Lord, the Sovereign of the earth, had spoken. He would come as a mighty Warrior to judge the surrounding nations for their rebellion against His authority. He would judge Israel too, because she also had broken His covenant despite His grace toward her.

____________

Thank you for listening to the Scripture & The Sense Podcast. Remember to read the Word of God each and every day and pray without ceasing to God for wisdom to understand it and apply it to your life. Most importantly, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved. Please stay tuned for a complete presentation of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ so that you can get your soul saved from Hell to that wonderful place called Heaven when you die. May God bless you and keep you is my prayer.

1995 Complaint Claiming Mike Bloomberg told Pregnant Employee to Kill Her Baby Resurfaces

1995 Complaint Claiming Mike Bloomberg told Pregnant Employee to Kill Her Baby Resurfaces

A 1995 complaint shows that presidential candidate Mike Bloomberg told a former employee that she should “kill” her unborn child.

According to complaint documents, Sekiko Sakai, a former saleswoman for Bloomberg Terminal, was speaking with Bloomberg after he met with New York University Students some 25 years ago.

“How’s married life? Still married?” Bloomberg reportedly asked her.

Sakai said marriage was great and she was expecting a child.

“Kill it,” Sakai alleged Bloomberg responded in a “serious monotone voice.”

“What? What did you just say?” the employee responded.

“Kill it,” Bloomberg repeated, according to Sakai.

ABC News reports the Bloomberg has vehemently denied this accusation.

Sakai also added in her complaint that in the conversation, Bloomberg also said, “great, number 16.” She said she believed he was referring to her as the 16th woman in his office to get pregnant.

Sakai told 10 people in the firm about the conversation, of which five were managers. She left the company, filed a complaint and then a lawsuit. The lawsuit was settled out of court and Sakai signed a nondisclosure agreement.

“The words which were spoken to me by the CEO of my company on April 11, 1995, should never be heard by an expectant mother awaiting the birth of her first child,” Sakai wrote in an undated letter addressed to Rep. Sue Kelly, R-N.Y.

Meanwhile, Bloomberg is…

PODCAST: Whyte House Daily Devotional Bible Reading Episode #92: Numbers 6, Psalm 25, and Acts 18 (with Daniel Whyte III)

This is Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International with the Whyte House Daily Devotional Bible Reading Episode #92. Where I read three chapters of the Holy Bible in the King James Version a day with my family as a part of our family devotions, to encourage you to read the Holy Bible in a year’s time. We are using a modified version of the Five Day Bible Reading Plan. It is modified because we read the Bible everyday and not just five days a week. The benefit of using the Five Day Bible Reading Plan is: you can read the entire Bible in a chronological reading plan that helps the Bible make sense. Today we are reading Numbers 6, Psalm 25 and Acts 18.

Charles Spurgeon said, “If you wish to know God, you must know His Word. If you wish to perceive His power, you must see how He works by His Word. If you wish to know His purpose before it comes to pass, you can only discover it by His Word.”

Lee Roberson said, “If you are a child of God, know that every promise in the Bible is yours. The Bible is a gold mine, waiting for someone to take out its riches.”

Numbers 6
1 And the Lord spake unto Mo’-ses, saying,

2 Speak unto the children of Is’-ra-el, and say unto them, When either man or woman shall separate themselves to vow a vow of a Naz’-a-rite, to separate themselves unto the Lord:

3 He shall separate himself from wine and strong drink, and shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of strong drink, neither shall he drink any liquor of grapes, nor eat moist grapes, or dried.

4 All the days of his separation shall he eat nothing that is made of the vine tree, from the kernels even to the husk.

5 All the days of the vow of his separation there shall no razor come upon his head: until the days be fulfilled, in the which he separateth himself unto the Lord, he shall be holy, and shall let the locks of the hair of his head grow.

6 All the days that he separateth himself unto the Lord he shall come at no dead body.

7 He shall not make himself unclean for his father, or for his mother, for his brother, or for his sister, when they die: because the consecration of his God is upon his head.

8 All the days of his separation he is holy unto the Lord.

9 And if any man die very suddenly by him, and he hath defiled the head of his consecration; then he shall shave his head in the day of his cleansing, on the seventh day shall he shave it.

10 And on the eighth day he shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons, to the priest, to the door of the tabernacle of the congregation:

11 And the priest shall offer the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering, and make an atonement for him, for that he sinned by the dead, and shall hallow his head that same day.

12 And he shall consecrate unto the Lord the days of his separation, and shall bring a lamb of the first year for a trespass offering: but the days that were before shall be lost, because his separation was defiled.

13 And this is the law of the Naz’-a-rite, when the days of his separation are fulfilled: he shall be brought unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation:

14 And he shall offer his offering unto the Lord, one he lamb of the first year without blemish for a burnt offering, and one ewe lamb of the first year without blemish for a sin offering, and one ram without blemish for peace offerings,

15 And a basket of unleavened bread, cakes of fine flour mingled with oil, and wafers of unleavened bread anointed with oil, and their meat offering, and their drink offerings.

16 And the priest shall bring them before the Lord, and shall offer his sin offering, and his burnt offering:

17 And he shall offer the ram for a sacrifice of peace offerings unto the Lord, with the basket of unleavened bread: the priest shall offer also his meat offering, and his drink offering.

18 And the Naz’-a-rite shall shave the head of his separation at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and shall take the hair of the head of his separation, and put it in the fire which is under the sacrifice of the peace offerings.

19 And the priest shall take the sodden shoulder of the ram, and one unleavened cake out of the basket, and one unleavened wafer, and shall put them upon the hands of the Naz’-a-rite, after the hair of his separation is shaven:

20 And the priest shall wave them for a wave offering before the Lord: this is holy for the priest, with the wave breast and heave shoulder: and after that the Naz’-a-rite may drink wine.

21 This is the law of the Naz’-a-rite who hath vowed, and of his offering unto the Lord for his separation, beside that that his hand shall get: according to the vow which he vowed, so he must do after the law of his separation.

22 And the Lord spake unto Mo’-ses, saying,

23 Speak unto Aa’-ron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Is’-ra-el, saying unto them,

24 The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:

25 The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:

26 The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

27 And they shall put my name upon the children of Is’-ra-el, and I will bless them.

Psalm 25
A Psalm of Da’-vid.
1 Unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.

2 O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.

3 Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.

4 Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths.

5 Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.

6 Remember, O Lord, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old.

7 Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness’ sake, O Lord.

8 Good and upright is the Lord: therefore will he teach sinners in the way.

9 The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.

10 All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.

11 For thy name’s sake, O Lord, pardon mine iniquity; for it is great.

12 What man is he that feareth the Lord? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.

13 His soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth.

14 The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.

15 Mine eyes are ever toward the Lord; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net.

16 Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolate and afflicted.

17 The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses.

18 Look upon mine affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins.

19 Consider mine enemies; for they are many; and they hate me with cruel hatred.

20 O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee.

21 Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee.

22 Redeem Is’-ra-el, O God, out of all his troubles.

Acts 18
1 After these things Paul departed from Ath’-ens, and came to Cor’-inth;

2 And found a certain Jew named A-quil’-a, born in Pon’-tus, lately come from It’-a-ly, with his wife Pris-cil-la ; (because that Clau’-di-us had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them.

3 And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.

4 And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.

5 And when Si’-las and Ti-moth’-e-us were come from Mac-e-do’-ni-a, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews that Jesus was Christ.

6 And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook his raiment, and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean; from henceforth I will go unto the Gen’-tiles.

7 And he departed thence, and entered into a certain man’s house, named Jus’-tus, one that worshipped God, whose house joined hard to the synagogue.

8 And Cris’-pus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Co-rin’-thi-ans hearing believed, and were baptized.

9 Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace:

10 For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city.

11 And he continued there a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.

12 And when Gal-li-o was the deputy of A-chai’-a, the Jews made insurrection with one accord against Paul, and brought him to the judgment seat,

13 Saying, This fellow persuadeth men to worship God contrary to the law.

14 And when Paul was now about to open his mouth, Gal-li-o said unto the Jews, If it were a matter of wrong or wicked lewdness, O ye Jews, reason would that I should bear with you:

15 But if it be a question of words and names, and of your law, look ye to it; for I will be no judge of such matters.

16 And he drave them from the judgment seat.

17 Then all the Greeks took Sos’-the-nes, the chief ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. And Gal-li-o cared for none of those things.

18 And Paul after this tarried there yet a good while, and then took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syr’-i-a, and with him Pris-cil’-la and A-quil-a; having shorn his head in Cen-chre’-a: for he had a vow.

19 And he came to Eph’-e-sus, and left them there: but he himself entered into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews.

20 When they desired him to tarry longer time with them, he consented not;

21 But bade them farewell, saying, I must by all means keep this feast that cometh in Je-ru’-sa-lem: but I will return again unto you, if God will. And he sailed from Eph’-e-sus.

22 And when he had landed at Cae-sa-re’-a, and gone up, and saluted the church, he went down to An’-ti-och.

23 And after he had spent some time there, he departed, and went over all the country of Ga-la’-tia and Phryg’-i-a in order, strengthening all the disciples.

24 And a certain Jew named A-pol’-los, born at Al-ex-an’-dri-a, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Eph’-e-sus.

25 This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.

26 And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when A-quil-a and Pris-cil’-la had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.

27 And when he was disposed to pass into A’-chai-a, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he was come, helped them much which had believed through grace:

28 For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publicly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.

When I was a teenager I wanted to get wisdom and knowledge, so I set out the read the big family Bible that many families had in those days. But I couldn’t get past Genesis 2 before I got bored with reading the Bible. I found out later in life that you have to believe on Christ and get saved before you can understand the Bible. So here is how I became a Christian and how you can too:

'I Received My New Life': Asia Bibi Releases New Book, Asks French Government for Political Asylum

A Pakistani Christian mother who spent almost a decade on death row before finally being released in October of 2018 has asked the government of France for political asylum.

As CBN News has reported, Asia Bibi was convicted of blasphemy in 2010. A coworker accused her of insulting Islam after a dispute. Blasphemy is a crime punishable by death in Pakistan.

She was ultimately acquitted of the crime by the Pakistan Supreme Court but then was kept from leaving the country by officials even after a final bid from hardline Islamists to have her acquittal overturned was rejected.

Radical Muslims in Pakistan were outraged by the decision and threatened to murder her. Tens of thousands rallied in the streets and called for her death.

Bibi finally was allowed to leave Pakistan in May of 2019 and was finally reunited with her daughters in Canada.

Her visit to France this week coincided with the release of her new book titled Finally Free in French last month. The English version will be released in September.

“My great desire is to live in France,” Bibi said in an interview with RTL radio, her first trip to France since fleeing with her family to Canada in 2018, according to France24.com.

“France is the country from where I received my new life… Anne-Isabelle is an angel for me,” she said referring to Anne-Isabelle Tollet, the French journalist who campaigned for her release and co-wrote her first book, Blasphemy: A Memoir: Sentenced to Death Over a Cup of Water

On Tuesday, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo gave Bibi her honorary citizenship certificate that was bestowed by the city five years ago while she was still in prison.

Bibi said she did not have a meeting scheduled with French President Emmanuel Macron, but obviously I would like the president to hear my request.”

In her new book, she writes about the daily persecution suffered by Pakistan’s Christian minority and gives an account of the demeaning and appalling conditions in the prison where she was confined.

Bibi also tells of the struggle of adjusting to her new life and how she had to leave the country without seeing any members of her family.

“Pakistan is my country. I love my country but I am in exile forever,” she writes.
