Millions of College Students Seek ‘Sugar Daddies’ to Pay Off Student Loan Debt

Millions of College Students Seek ‘Sugar Daddies’ to Pay Off Student Loan Debt

Millions of college students across America have given up on solely using scholarships and part-time jobs to pay for their college education and are instead turning to “sugar daddies” to cover expenses.

Students looking for these sugar daddies often use a site called SeekingArrangement, the world’s largest sugar daddy dating site in the world. This week, the website ranked the schools who used their services the most.

As reported by NBC, Virginia Community College came in at #1 of community colleges with 2,008 students using the site’s services. Among universities, Arizona State University took the top spot with 2,724 students using the site.

Students who use the website’s services are called “sugar babies” and SeekingArrangement draws students in by promoting itself as a means to overcome student debt and help students build career connections.

“Meeting the right Sugar Daddy offers collegiate Sugar Babies access to expanded networking opportunities, mentorship and financial benefits that come with building a relationship with someone established and successful,” the website reads.

Over 2 million men call themselves sugar daddies through the site with over 350,000 women as sugar mommies. The website boasts over 8 million female sugar babies and over three million male.

Often referred to as the student debt crisis, almost 45 million Americans have outstanding…

Most Evangelicals Say Churches Should Discuss Politics, Pew Shows

Most Evangelicals Say Churches Should Discuss Politics, Pew Shows

Most evangelicals and members of historically black Protestant churches say congregations should discuss social and political issues, although every other major religious group in the U.S. wants their religious leaders to keep quiet on politics, according to a new Pew Research Center survey.

The poll of 6,364 U.S. adults asked if churches and other houses of worship should “keep out of political matters” or “express their views on day-to-day social and political questions.”

Although 63 percent of all U.S. adults say churches should stay out of political matters, evangelicals disagree, and by a 55-43 percent margin say churches should express their views on social and political questions. Members of historically black congregations also chose the “express their views” option by a margin of 54-43 percent.

Members of other religious groups, though, say churches and houses of worship should keep out of political matters. This includes 63 percent of mainline Protestants, 62 percent of Catholics and 69 percent of Jewish adults.

“Protestants in the evangelical and historically black traditions are the only major U.S. religious groups in which more people say churches should express their social and political views,” Pew said in an online analysis

Those two groups also are the most likely to say churches should endorse candidates. Forty-five percent of members of black…

Holy Cross Rowing Team Member Killed in Van Accident

Holy Cross Rowing Team Member Killed in Van Accident

A 20-year-old College of the Holy Cross rowing crew team member was killed in a car accident on Wednesday, according to NBC News.

The Massachusetts-based team’s van collided head-on with a red Dodge pickup in Vero Beach, Florida at about 7:30 AM. The collision killed sophomore Grace Rett, who turned 20 this week. The team was in Florida training for their upcoming season, which starts on April 4 against Colgate.

“Grace was a light to all who knew her,” said Holy Cross Dean of Students Michele Murray. “She was incredibly passionate and hard-working.”

A dozen other people, according to authorities, were also injured in the crash and Rett was wearing a seat belt while sitting in the front right passenger seat of the van. Both vehicles had green lights and criminal charges have not been filed against either driver. No alcohol was believed to be present.

Six students and the head coach were admitted to the hospital after the accident and still remained as of Wednesday afternoon.

Three weeks earlier, Rett set a world record for continuous indoor rowing by a woman 19 years old or younger. “Records are made to be broken,” she tweeted after rowing continuously for 62 hours and three seconds.

“This is a terrible loss for our community,” said Murray. “This is a terrible shock. My thoughts are really with Grace’s family and her teammates.”

Holy Cross is a Jesuit liberal arts school located in…

Large-Scale Killings, Kidnappings Hit Christians in Kaduna State, Nigeria, Sources Say

Large-Scale Killings, Kidnappings Hit Christians in Kaduna State, Nigeria, Sources Say

JOS, Nigeria, January 15, 2020 (Morning Star News) – More than 200 Muslim Fulani herdsmen have attacked predominantly Christian villages in southern Kaduna state, Nigeria since Jan. 6, killing at least 35 people and kidnapping 58 others, including a mother and her 6-month-old baby, sources said.

Armed with AK-47s, the herdsmen on motorcycles rampaged through 10 predominantly Christian villages in Chikun and Brinin Gwari counties, Christian leaders said. Traumatized people displaced by the violence, dispossessed of their farmlands and homeless, later received calls demanding thousands of dollars in ransom for the release of their relatives, they said.

“The herdsmen, or ‘bandits’ as they now call them, began their attacks on our communities on Monday, Jan. 6, killing, maiming and kidnapping members of our families without restraint by security agencies or the military,” pastor Habila Madama, a Christian leader in the affected areas, told Morning Star News. “The herdsmen have destroyed our farmlands and left us with nothing. These Muslim Fulani herdsmen will usually come with their cattle, forcefully take over our farms, and destroy crops ready for harvests.”

He appealed to Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari and the Kaduna state government to take steps to end the violence.

“As it is now, we don’t know where to go, what to feed on, or where do we get…

House Sends Impeachment Articles to the Senate, Trial Date Is Set

House Sends Impeachment Articles to the Senate, Trial Date Is Set

The United States House of Representatives has transmitted its article of impeachment against President Donald Trump to the Senate, setting up a landmark trial.

A resolution cementing the decision was passed almost completely along party lines with a vote of 228-193. Rep. Collin Peterson, D-Minn., was the only Democrat who chose to vote against the action, which comes just a month after articles of impeachment were introduced against the President in relation to his dealings with Ukraine. Trump is accused of pressuring the Ukrainian President to open up an investigation into his political rival and 2020 Democratic candidate for President, Joe Biden.

“We are here today to cross a very important threshold in American history,” Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, proclaimed ahead of the vote, according to Fox News.

“When someone is impeached, they are always impeached,” added the California Democrat. “It cannot be erased.”

Not everyone agreed with Pelosi’s sentiments, however. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., slammed the Democrats for becoming obsessed with the process, which many have called a partisan “sham.”

“This is not a moment this body should be proud of. As Pelosi says, impeachment is a national civics lesson. Let’s use this blunder as a teachable moment,” McCarthy said.

“We wouldn’t abuse our power just for the sheer…

‘I’m Pro-Life’ – Iowa’s Female Gov. Supports Amendment Protecting the Unborn

‘I’m Pro-Life’ – Iowa’s Female Gov. Supports Amendment Protecting the Unborn

Iowa’s female governor used a statewide address Tuesday to declare her support for a proposed constitutional amendment protecting the unborn, calling it part of an effort to protect “all stages of life.”

Republican Gov. Kim Reynolds made the comments during her Condition of the State address in front of senators and representatives in the state capitol.

“As we move into 2020, I’m focused on the overall wellness of all Iowans, in every part of the State – in all stages of life,” Reynolds, who took office in January 2019, told legislators to applause. “And when I say all stages of life, I mean to include the unborn. We must protect life by making it clear, through an amendment, that our constitution does not grant a right to abortion. It’s time, and unfortunately, it’s necessary.”

The proposed amendment to the state constitution would prevent the Iowa Supreme Court, or lower-court justices, from using the state document to overturn abortion restrictions. The state high court previously issued a ruling stating that a 72-hour waiting period law “violates both the due process and equal protection clauses of the Iowa Constitution.”

Reynolds stated her support for the amendment last year but didn’t discuss it in her 2019 Condition of the State address.

“I’m pro-life,” she told the Des Moines Register last year. “I’ve made it very clear that…

Prince Harry offered a job at Burger King: Status is fickle but service changes the world

“Dear Dukes: If you’re looking for a job, we have a new crown for you.” So states an ad by Burger King, which was followed by a tweet: “Harry, this royal family offers part-time positions.”

The company explained: “We found out that the prince and the duchess decided to give up their roles in the royal family and will work to become financially independent. So, we have a proposition for you: Do as thousands of people and take your first steps in the world of work with us. You know that the crown will suit you perfectly.”

Commentators responded that Burger King “won” the Internet for the day.

Before they were famous, Rachel McAdams was employed at McDonald’s for three years, Beyoncé worked in her mother’s hair salon, Johnny Depp sold pens, Eva Mendes served hot dogs at a food court, and Tom Cruise was a bellhop at a hotel.

My first job was at Dairy Queen; perhaps that makes me royalty as well?

Would you hire an actor to fix your plumbing?

The fact that Burger King’s offer to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex is such effective advertising exposes two problems in our culture.

First, we measure value by status.

According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, 20,380 Americans work in the motion picture and video industries. Approximately 3.8 million Americans work in the fast-food industry.

Imagine a world without food-service professionals, or construction workers, or auto mechanics, or electricians. Would you hire an actor to fix your plumbing, or a plumber to star in your next play?

My point is not to disparage or elevate celebrities or plumbers. It is to note that our society depends on multiplied millions of people who do vital jobs we seldom appreciate fully.

The same is true spiritually. Paul likened the church to a body and asked: “If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell?” (1…

Mac Powell Credits ‘Miracle,’ Prayers for Wife’s Recovery from Aneurysm

Christian singer Mac Powell is thanking fans for their prayers and praising God for his wife’s recovery, six weeks after she was rushed to the hospital with a brain aneurysm and a hemorrhagic stroke.

Aimee Powell was taken by ambulance in late November to the hospital, where she spent 14 days before being released. Mac Powell penned an urgent prayer request on Instagram the day she was admitted.

This week, he said her health had greatly improved.

“Today marks six weeks since my wife Aimee woke up having a brain aneurysm which led to a hemorrhagic stroke,” he wrote. “She spent 14 days in the hospital. Aimee is doing great and we are so blessed that she was home for Christmas. We enjoyed the holidays with our children, family, and friends. What a great time to reflect on the miracle that God performed in Aimee!

“Headaches have been a new normal for her, but she is continuing to heal and feel better each day. We will never be able to express our thanks and gratitude for all your prayers and love. We know that Aimee is here because of God, His plan for her life, and because of the prayers of the Saints all around the world! She’s been able to slowly get back to her normal mama routines like visiting colleges, seeing plays and basketball games, and getting in some snuggle time. Aimee is so incredibly grateful to be here with all of us. We go to a follow-up doctor visit on…
