Kanye West Announces Launch of Biblical Opera about King Nebuchadnezzar

Kanye West, who recently released his gospel album, has announced that he will be launching a Biblical opera that will tell the story of King Nebuchadnezzar.

According to Faithwire, West announced the show on Twitter, saying the opera will debut at the Hollywood Bowl on Nov. 24 and feature music by the Sunday Service choir.

Tickets for the show go on sale Monday.

Nebuchadnezzar ruled Babylon for more than 40 years, from about 605 BC to 562 BC, Forbes explains. His story is found in the Book of Daniel. In the book of Daniel, Daniel reveals and interprets the king’s dream after others have failed to do so.

Later in the book of Daniel, Nebuchadnezzar tells the people to worship an image of gold. Daniel and other Israelites refuse, and Daniel and two of his friends are thrown into a furnace. The three men survive, and the king praises God.

Then in Daniel 4, Nebuchadnezzar has another dream of a giant tree that protects the land and animals, but a holy messenger tells him that the tree must be cut down, and he will be sent to live in the wild. Daniel tells him the dream is about the king and tells him to renounce his sins.

Later, Nebuchadnezzar is stripped of his royalty and driven away. At the end, he praises God.

In an interview in October, West spoke about the story of Nebuchadnezzar.

“[God] is saying, Let me take this Nebuchadnezzar-type…

Israel Strikes Back against Iranian Forces in Syria, Warns Syrian Regime Not to Allow Further Attacks

Israel Strikes Back against Iranian Forces in Syria, Warns Syrian Regime Not to Allow Further Attacks

Israel has struck back at Iranian forces in Syria after Iran launched four rockets at Israel’s Golen Heights.

According to CBN News, the Israel Defense Forces fired back at Iranian and Assad targets.

The Jerusalem Post reported that IDF didn’t hit the rocket launchers, but targeted Iranian forces bases, storehouses and other military facilities.

IDF said in a statement that it also destroyed Syrian aerial defense batteries after a missile was fired at its fighter planes, CNN reports.

“Israeli warplanes… targeted the vicinity of the city of Damascus with a number of missiles,” the Syrian state news agency, SANA, reported. “Our air defense confronted the heavy attack and intercepted the hostile missiles, and was able to destroy most of them before reaching their targets.”

Eleven people, including civilians, were killed in the strike, Syrian sources told reporters.

Following the strike, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “whoever harms us, we will harm them.”

“That is what we did tonight in Syria against Iranian Quds Force targets and Syrian military targets, after rockets were fired from its territory towards Israel,” he said. “We will continue to aggressively guard the security of Israel.”

The strike came after Iran launched four rockets at Israel early Tuesday. The Iron Dome…

Nun refused place at care home

Her headwear forms part of the traditional habit worn by nuns, but was deemed an “ostentatious religious symbol” by social workers who said it breached France’s secular values.

Social workers in eastern France wrote to the nun, who is in her 70s, when she applied for a room in the Résidences Autonomuie, a local care home in Vesoul.

In the letter, they told the nun, that she would be eligible for a spot in the care home if she removed her veil.

The letter said: “In order to respect signs of secularism, any ostentatious signs of belonging to a religious community cannot be accepted.”

The mayor of Vasoul has pledged to overturn the decision, and said the social workers had made an “error in interpretation” of secular values. Mayor Alain Chrétien said the ban on religious symbols applied to government employees, including care home workers, but not to residents.

In recent years, officials have used a century old law that separates the church and the state to ban Muslims employed by government bodies from wearing headscarves on the grounds that the garment would reintroduce religion into French public life.

Planned Parenthood Wins Nearly $2.3 Million from Journalists Who Uncovered Trafficking of Aborted Baby Parts

Planned Parenthood Wins Nearly $2.3 Million from Journalists Who Uncovered Trafficking of Aborted Baby Parts

Undercover journalist David Daleiden—whose videos showed evidence Planned Parenthood was trafficking in aborted baby parts—will appeal a $2.3 million judgment handed down Friday by a San Francisco jury after he and a colleague were convicted on numerous charges, including the federal RICO, Racketeering Influenced Corrupt Organizations, law. Under RICO, compensatory damage charges are tripled.

Daleiden, and his Center for Medical Progress, made national headlines in 2015 when he released a series of videos in which Planned Parenthood executives discussed the sale of fetal parts, as well as their willingness to manipulate abortion procedures to preserve organs for sale. Daleiden and Sandra Merritt also secretly recorded conversations with officials from fetal tissue procurement businesses that worked with Planned Parenthood.

Shortly after releasing the videos, Daleiden explained his justification for the clandestine operation before a gathering at the Evangelicals for Life conference.

“I think that undercover work is fundamentally different from lying, because the purpose of undercover work is to serve the truth and to bring the truth to greater clarity and to communicate the truth more strongly,” he told them.

But, during the San Francisco civil trial, federal Judge William Orrick ruled journalism was not a defense for the…

Oxfordshire school settles Christian assembly complaint out of court

Earlier this year, humanists Lee and Lizanne Harris claimed their children’s human rights were being breached when they were put in a classroom at Burford Primary with just an iPad and a teaching assistant while other pupils sat through collective worship.

They previously withdrew their children after claiming they’d noticed harmful aspects of evangelism spreading into assemblies and other parts of the school.

They took legal action claiming better provision should be given to their children with the High Court being asked to intervene.

The Oxford Diocesan Schools Trust has now settled the case out of court.

Humanists UK said the decision marks a significant win against Christian worship in schools but in a statement to Premier the Oxfordshire Diocesan Schools Trust said it was simply a “pragmatic decision to avoid wholly unnecessary court costs”.

The concessions made by the school include:

– Age-appropriate materials for spiritual, moral, social and cultural development being made available to children who’ve been withdrawn from assemblies
– No clergy to lead school events other than collective worship
– Not permitting the local church to provide free Bibles for school leavers (something which stopped last year)

Lee and Lizanne Harris said: “We are delighted that the school has backed down and agreed to provide our children with an alternative, inclusive assembly of…

70 Percent of Americans Agree Abortion Clinics Should Be Held to Same Standards as Hospitals

70 Percent of Americans Agree Abortion Clinics Should Be Held to Same Standards as Hospitals

A recent poll released by Americans United for Life revealed that a majority of Americans want safer health care for women who receive abortions.

Seventy percent of the population surveyed said that they either “strongly” or “somewhat” agree that abortion facilities “should be held to the same medical standards as any ordinary hospital.”

“This survey highlights that Americans, regardless of their personal views on abortion, stand with us in our fight to protect a woman’s right to health care and emergency medical attention,” AUL President Catherine Glenn Foster said. “Women deserve the same standard of care no matter who their doctor is. Continued efforts by elected officials and political institutions to limit protections and safeguards for women are out of step with core American values.”

Additionally, 78% of respondents agreed that physicians should transfer a woman to an emergency room should complications occur during the abortion. And, three out of four Americans believe that abortion doctors should be held to the same medical standards as ordinary physicians.

Over 40% of those surveyed identified as pro-choice.

The poll comes in the wake of the Supreme Court agreeing to listen to a Louisiana abortion case, June Medical Services, LLC v. Gee. At the center of the lawsuit is the Unsafe Abortion Protection Act,…

Christian Institute to take legal action against UK government over NI gay marriage changes

As of January same sex couples will be able to marry there after an intervention by politicians in Westminster while the Northern Ireland Assembly is in stalemate.

According to CI, the changes go much further than current laws in Great Britain with fears there won’t be protection for church ministers who object.

CI is calling for the law to be exactly the same as the rest of the country, ensuring freedom of religion, freedom of expression and freedom of association.

CI spokesman Simon Calvert said: “Same-sex marriage is about to be legalised from 13 January and proper protections for those who disagree will not be in force. That’s the implication of what the Northern Ireland Office (NIO) says.

“Parliament took the best part of a year to debate introducing same-sex marriage in England and Wales. For Northern Ireland, MPs took only a couple of hours. In the rest of the UK there are many protections for those who disagree with same-sex marriage. Not so in Northern Ireland, with the Secretary of State and the NIO not seeming to be bothered.

“Churches must not be sued if they refuse to do a same-sex marriage and public order law must be amended to stop church ministers being prosecuted for sermons that disagree with same-sex marriage. The new law has to make this clear.”

Currently any church leader in the rest of the UK unwilling to conduct a same sex marriage is…

Jesus Is King, Part II Is in the Works, Kanye West Announces

Jesus Is King, Part II Is in the Works, Kanye West Announces

On the heels of his successful hit album Jesus is King, Kanye West announced Tuesday on Twitter that he’s launching part two.

No other details have been released, except that West will be teaming up with producer and artist Dr. Dre to produce the album. The pair have worked with other artists throughout the years, but this will be their first time partnering together.

“I first met Dre in December of 2003,” West said to Rolling Stone in 2010. “He’s the definition of a true talent: Dre feels like God place him here to make music, and no matter what forces are aligned against him, he always ends up on the mountaintop.”

Jesus is King made headlines as West’s first Christian album. It hit the No. 1 spot on the Top Christian Albums and Billboard 200 Charts, as previously reported by Christian Headlines. The album’s success prompted the American Bible Society to offer free Bibles to anyone seeking to understand Jesus, calling the campaign, “Bibles for Kanye Fans.” The original goal was to ship out 1,000 Bibles but after only a few weeks, the American Bible Society told Christian Headlines that more than 10,000 were given away.

The success has propelled West to announce more projects. The most recent being a biblical opera production…

Christian Concern supports challenge to hate crime rules as man takes policing body to court

Harry Miller was contacted by Humberside Police following an anonymous phone call reporting a number of his posts on Twitter as ‘offensive’ and ‘transphobic’.

The former police officer and Christian is seeking a judicial review of the College of Policing guidelines after the “non-crime hate incident” was listed on his permanent record.

The court heard he was told he had not committed a crime, but his post was being recorded as a “hate incident”.

Mr Miller argues the guidelines undermine his human rights and that “simply being upset” by a person’s comments should not be a basis for police interference.

Christian Concern has been supporting Miller in his case.

Legal Counsel Roger Kiska told Premier these hate incidents are reported without proof and can impact job prospects: “It’s an incredibly subjective term which means whatever the so-called victim feels it means, so no real crime has to be shown and this shows up on your enhanced DBS check which can make you unemployable.”

“Miller didn’t say anything illegal or criminal… and this will stay on his record and will follow him around.

“This could happen to literally anyone,” he added.

Kiska says the Legal Centre are calling for the non-crime listing to be removed from Miller’s record: “If it is based merely based on the perception of someone feeling offense, it is such a disproportionate impact on the person being…

75 Percent Support Freedom of Religious Businesses to Operate According to Beliefs

75 Percent Support Freedom of Religious Businesses to Operate According to Beliefs

Three-quarters of Americans believe business owners should have the freedom to run their businesses according to their religious beliefs, although Democrats and Republicans differ sharply about the government’s involvement if such beliefs are unpopular or even discriminatory, according to a new landmark study on attitudes about religious liberty.

The inaugural Religious Freedom Index, released Wednesday by the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, shows that Americans broadly support religious freedom in the U.S., although their views vary depending on the specific topic.

The goal of the Index is to provide “a 30,000-foot view of changes in American attitudes on religious freedom” by surveying 1,000 Americans’ attitudes on questions within six categories: religious pluralism, religion and policy, religious sharing, religion in society, church and state, and religion in action, Becket said. The Index will be released each fall.

This year’s Religious Freedom Index composite score, 67, will serve “as a baseline for future trends,” Becket said.

“The central finding from this first year’s Index is that religious freedom has survived the culture wars,” the report says.

The Index found that 75 percent of Americans believe the “freedom for people to run their business or private organizations according to their religious beliefs”…
