A Mississippi wedding venue, Boone’s Camp Event Hall, has apologized for canceling an interracial couple’s wedding based on their biblical beliefs.

The couple had been working with the venue for about a week when they received a message indicating that Boone’s Camp would not allow them to marry “because of [their] beliefs,” according to the Christian Post.

When LaKambria Welch found out that her brother, who is black, and his white fiancee were denied services at the venue, she drove to the location to ask why and recorded the conversation with a woman many believe to be the owner of the venue, Donna Russell.

“First of all, we don’t do gay weddings or mixed race, because of our Christian race, I mean, our Christian belief,” the woman said in the video.

“Ok, we’re Christians as well,” Welch replied before asking, “So what in the Bible tells you that—?”

“Well, I don’t want to argue my faith,” the woman said. “We just don’t participate…we just choose not to.”

The video, which went viral with 2 million views, prompted a story with Deep South Voice and a follow up with the Washington Post.

A few days later, the Washington Post explained that the owner of the venue apologized on Facebook after spending time in the Bible and talking with her pastor.

Nearly five months after being thrown off a third-floor balcony at the Mall of America in Minnesota, 5-year-old Landen Hoffman is finally home.

The wonderful news was shared by the youngster’s family on a GoFundMe page dedicated to raising funds to help aid his recovery. After Hoffman was thrown some 40 feet from a balcony back in April, medics were convinced that he would suffer from life-long brain damage as a result.

Incredibly, however, the child has made a full and complete recovery, after the parents pleaded for prayer in the days and weeks following the incident — truly a work of God! “We are pleased to share that our son completed his inpatient rehabilitation and is now home,” the Hoffman’s said in a statement posted to GoFundMe. “We are so thankful, and we rejoice in the Lord’s blessings to our family.”

“We continue to ask that His healing powers guide us and our son’s care team as we enter the next phase of recovery, which includes continued outpatient rehabilitation for multiple injuries and adjusting to life back at home and school,” they added.

A House Democrat is criticizing the inclusion of “so help me God” in congressional oaths, saying it’s both unconstitutional and “preposterous” to force everyone to affirm such a belief. 

As Christian Headlines previously reported, U.S. Rep. Jared Huffman (Calif.), who is the only non-religious member of Congress, told the television show Freethought Matters that his Democratic colleagues “backed down” on the issue earlier this year. Freethought Matters is produced by the Freedom From Religion Foundation.

“Well, unfortunately, it’s been kind of a sporadic standard,” Huffman said of including “so help me God” in oaths. 

“Some committees have dropped the oath, others have not,” he said. “I sit on the Natural Resources Committee and in our original proposed rules for the committee [this year], we proposed that we drop the oath or we allow witnesses to simply say it voluntarily if they chose to, which to me makes perfect sense.”

Archaeologists in Israel have unearthed a centuries-old mosaic potentially depicting the miracle of Jesus feeding the 5,000, according to CBN News. The mosaic, discovered on the floor of an early Christian Church, might reveal more about where the miracle occurred.

“Observed for the first time in about 1,600 years, the mosaic’s colors are bright and its subjects unmistakable,” an article by Haaretz said. “Their interpretation is another matter.”

The mosaic was found inside the “Burnt Church,” one of at least seven churches in Antiochia-Hippos. Archaeologists believe the church was burned down during the Sasanian conquest in the 7th century. But the ash from the fire actually served to preserve the colorful mosaic on the floor below.

In the nave of the Burnt Church on the mosaic are two triplets of fish — six in total. Each set features a large, medium, and small fish. Besides the fishes is a basket of bread containing five loaves.

North Carolina-based global humanitarian organization Operation Blessing sent a relief team on Wednesday to Nassau, Bahamas, to bring emergency aid after Hurricane Dorian’s devastation. 

Last week, Dorian ripped through the Bahamas, destroying or severely damaging over 13,000 homes. The death toll is still unknown, though officials believe 20 are dead, according to CNN.

Operation Blessing will work with local partners, such as Water Mission, Wave 4 Water, and Third Wave Volunteers, to assess the damage. Once a plan has been made, the team, which includes two water treatment experts and a medical doctor, will bring clean water, medical aid, food, and shelter to those in need.

A second team will arrive on Thursday.

The group will also pass out 500 solar-powered lights, 5,000 strips of Aquatabs and 200 Katadyn Gravity Filters to provide clean drinking water. They will also transport an Aquifer 360 solar-powered mobile water treatment system, which is a lightweight, portable system that can purify up to 15 gallons of water per hour.
