‘This News Is Quite Miraculous’: Joni Eareckson Tada Is Officially Cancer-Free
Esteemed advocate for persons with disabilities, Joni Eareckson Tada announced on Facebook that she is once again, cancer-free.
Tada shared a photo of herself ecstatically holding up a note pad with the words “ALL CLEAR” scrawled across it.
She captioned the photo with a bible verse and thanked her followers for their prayers. The post reads, “Proverbs 25:25 says, ‘Good news from far away is like cold water to a thirsty soul.’ That perfectly describes Ken and me today.
“We were prepared to gladly take whatever from the hand of God, even if it were from his left hand. But the Lord was gracious and heard the desire of our hearts – last Friday’s PET scan shows that my second tumor that was removed last November… did not metastasize!”
Tada emphasized the miraculous nature of this finding “given the aggressive nature of that reoccurring cancer.”
She continued, “So, THANK you for lifting us up before the Lord Jesus. For now, we have been spared of more cancer battles.
“We humbly realize that may well change in the future; but for today, for now, we are rejoicing in those wonderful words from my medical oncologist: ‘all clear!’ Onward and upward…,” she concluded.
Tada’s organization Joni and Friends shared the same sentiments on their Facebook page.

Bishop of Sherwood to retire after 42 years
Evangelism has been central to Rev Porter’s ministry and together with his wife Lucille, he has lead nearly 40 outreach projects across the diocese and will be overseeing the one LIFE mission to share the gospel with more communities across Southwell and Nottingham in September.
Upon announcing his retirement, Bishop Tony said: “It has been a great privilege to serve in the Diocese of Southwell & Nottingham and to be part of its vision for Growing Disciples in every parish”.
As part of Rev Porter’s 42 years of service he was chaplain to Manchester City Football Club and the Greater Manchester Police.
In 2015 he was commissioned as the Archbishops’ Sport Ambassador, working to strengthen links between the Church and sport.
The Bishop of Southwell & Nottingham, the Right Reverend Paul Williams, said: “Bishop Tony has been a tremendously encouraging servant of God in this diocese, with an untiring love for sharing the good news of Jesus, especially with those beyond the fringes of the church, or struggling on the margins of society.
“He is a big-hearted evangelist with a wide vision for the impact the church can have in serving the poor, yet equally himself when supporting leaders in sport, business and civic life.”
A service of farewell will be held at Southwell Minster in March next year.

Pam Tebow Discusses the Impact Sharing the Power of God Has on Our Families, Communities
There are some people that resonate beauty and grace with a simple, “hello”. Pam Tebow, the mother of Tim Tebow, is one of those people. It is clear in Pam’s tone and manner that she loves both Jesus and her family.
In her new book titled Ripple Effects: Discover the Miraculous Motivating Power of a Woman’s Influence, Pam highlights the important roles mothers and women play in influencing their families and their communities.
The book is centered around Pam’s belief that everyone can be a positive influence, as long as they make the conscious choice to follow God every day. It also notes that the desire to be a positive influence on their kids and in their communities is deep within a woman’s heart.
“I always had a heart to write a book, but I wanted the Lord to orchestrate when I was ready and not myself,” Pam told Christian Headlines. “Being an author was a direct answer to my prayers,” she added.
The mother of five always knew that God was going to use her children’s lives, so she sought out the power of God to help her impact her children and their community in a positive way.
In 1985, God presented his power to Pam, when he called her, her husband Bob, and their kids to serve in the Philippines as missionaries.

Louis Theroux denies he’s ‘recruiting’ for Westboro Baptist Church
Called Louis Theroux: Surviving America’s Most Hated Family, he will explore the changes the family at the centre of the Westboro Baptist Church have gone through in recent years.
Theroux tweeted after the documentary aired on BBC2: “I know it may appear that I am “recruiting” for Westboro but that is emphatically not the case.”
In an interview with Stylist, Theroux explained that he originally had no plan of covering the family for so long and didn’t think a third film was necessary.
“I thought now we know each other’s games, there is no need to really follow up a third time,” he told the magazine.
Theroux resisted calls to look at the family again following the death of the church’s founder and figurehead Pastor Fred Phelps, known as Gramps, in 2014.
But after he noticed a change in the group, he changed his mind.
“Enough time went by and I began seeing signs they were starting to change a little bit,” he explained.
“Specifically, that this rather extraordinary ex-member called Megan Phelps was beginning to campaign in a very thoughtful and informed and sensitive way for tolerance and understanding.
“I felt it was a helpful way of looking at the nature of profound ideological disagreement.”
Megan is the granddaughter of the late Pastor Phelps and has criticised the church.

Pro-life protesters at Court of Appeal to challenge ban outside abortion clinic
The Marie Stopes abortion clinic in Ealing was the first in the country to introduce a Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) of 100 metres around it, supported by their local MP Rupa Huq.
Those standing outside abortion clinics were mostly from pro-life group the Good Counsel Network, who tried to help women change their minds and offer practical support when financial or domestic pressures were leading women towards termination.
Pro-choice groups began turning up in 2005, protesting against the pro-life group’s presence, the judge described the combination of the two groups by saying it ‘generated an atmosphere of tension outside the Centre’.
The buffer zone was challenged last year at the High Court, with the judge concluding that it was a “necessary step in a democratic society”.
Alina Dulgheriu and Andrea Orthova from the Good Counsel Network are now challenging that decision in the Court of Appeal infront of three senior judges.
A group of mothers who say they were helped by vigil members outside abortion clinics rallied outside the Royal Courts of Justice while the hearing was taking place.
The public spaces protection order (PSPO) came into force in April after reports of “intimidation, harassment and distress” for women using the facility in Mattock Lane.
