The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church Of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has stepped down as the leader of the church in Nigeria.

Pastor Adeboye did not resign as General Overseer of RCCG. He retires as Overseer of RCCG in Nigeria. Pastor E.A Adeboye remains General Overseer, RCCG Worldwide.

Pastor Adeboye appointed Pastor Obayemi as Overseer of RCCG in Nigeria. He is still the General Overseer of RCCG Worldwide.

It was gathered that Pastor Adeboye would maintain oversight of the church across the world, which now has presence in over 190 countries.

The 75-year-old revered cleric was said to have announced his retirement from the leadership of the Nigerian church on Saturday during the Annual Minister’s Thanksgiving at Shimawa area of Ogun State.

Pastor Obayemi has been named Overseer of RCCG Nigeria, but Pastor Adeboye has not retired. He will still be in charge of RCCG Worldwide, conducting the Holy Ghost service, Festival of Life in other countries and other major church services, but Pastor Obayemi will lead the RCCG in Nigeria,” said a source within the RCCG while addressing rumours of Pastor Adeboye’s retirement.

Pastor Obayemi was promoted alongside others last August to the position of Assistant General Overseer. Until his appointment, Pastor J.O. Obayemi who was a deputy in charge of Finance and a member of governing council has been named his successor.

    WHAT DO YOU THINK?

    - We have all sinned and deserve God's judgment. God, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him. Jesus, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buried, and rose from the dead according to the Bible. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior, declaring, "Jesus is Lord," you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven.

    What is your response?

If you are not a Christian, and would like to become a Christian. Simply say - "LORD Jesus, thank you for forgiving me of my SINs, today I am deciding to follow you. Accept me into your family, in Jesus name I pray. Amen "
