Kenneth & Gloria Copeland 6 August 2018 Daily Devotional – Let Your Life Begin Again

Topic: Let Your Life Begin Again [Kenneth & Gloria Copeland 6th August 2018 Daily Devotional]

Behold, now is the day of salvation. – 2 Corinthians 6:2

Did you know that Jesus has unlocked the prison doors of guilt that have kept you captive? It doesn’t matter who you are or what you’ve been. I don’t care if you’ve been a prostitute, a murderer, a thief, a drug dealer or a churchgoer who’s never made Jesus Christ Lord of your life. The Bible says that today is the day of salvation.

A new life is only a prayer away.

Gloria and I discovered that for ourselves more than 35 years ago. Actually, it was Gloria who took the first step. She found out that the Bible says not even a sparrow falls without God’s knowledge. Well, she thought, if God knows and cares when the sparrows fall, He must know what terrible shape my life is in right now. And if He cares, maybe He can do something with it.

Gloria didn’t know anything about the Bible. She didn’t even know for sure that God would let her start over. But when she told Him she wanted Him to take over her life, something supernatural happened on the inside of her. She was born again.

“But what about my past?” you may say. “I feel so guilty about it!”

When you’ve been born again and made a new creature in Christ—that past doesn’t belong to you anymore. And it would be ridiculous to walk around feeling guilty about someone else’s past, wouldn’t it?

What would you think if I took a little baby on my lap, a pretty little thing just a few months old, and said, “Oh, isn’t she precious? But just think about her past.”

You’d think I was crazy! “What past?” you’d say. “She doesn’t have any past!”

Well, it’s the same way with you once you’ve been born again. You don’t have any past. Your life begins again the day you make Jesus Lord of your life. Then, when Satan comes around trying to remind you of what a worm you were before, just tell him he’s knocking on the wrong door.

You’ve been kicked around long enough. There’s no need to wait any longer. The prison door is open. Walk through to Jesus and let your life begin again today.

Andrew Wommack 6 August 2018 Daily Devotional – The Measure of Faith

Topic: The Measure of Faith [Andrew Wommack 6th August 2018 Daily Devotional]

Luke 17:5 “And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.”

Text: Luke 17:1-10

There are many scriptures that speak of varying degrees of faith. However, the scriptures also speak of Jesus increasing in wisdom (Lk. 2:52) that certainly refers to His physical intellect drawing more and more on the perfect wisdom of God that was already in Him at birth. It is in this way that we also increase in faith.

At salvation, the believer is given the supernatural faith of God. We had to use the very faith of God (not human faith) to believe the gospel (Eph. 2:8).

That faith came to us through hearing the Word of God (Rom. 10:17), and once we are born again, it becomes an abiding fruit of the Spirit within us.

Every believer is given the same measure of faith at salvation but not all believers use what God has given them. Therefore, it is correct to speak of growing in faith and having great faith or little faith, but it is important to understand that this is speaking of how much faith we use or manifest – not how much faith we were given. All believers were given “the” same measure of faith.

Jesus’ example of the grain of mustard seed underscores the truth that our faith is sufficient if we will just use it without the hindrance of unbelief.

He then continues on into the parable of the servant serving his master to illustrate that our faith is not the problem but rather our use of it. We are using it to serve ourselves instead of our master who is God.

Living by faith is not something special that only the “super-saints” are supposed to do. The Lord expects all of His children to live a supernatural life of faith. He gave you everything you need to do this, just let Him live through you.

Billy Graham 6th August 2018 Daily Devotional – Ills of the Human Race

Topic: Ills of the Human Race [Billy Graham’s Devotional Monday August 6, 2018]

Set thy house in order . . . — 2 Kings 20:1

Man condemns himself by his refusal of God’s way of salvation. In love and mercy, God is offering to men and women a way of escape, a way of salvation, a hope and anticipation of better things. Man in his blindness, stupidity, stubbornness, egotism, and love of sinful pleasure, refuses God’s simple method of escaping the pangs of eternal banishment. Suppose you were sick and called a doctor who came and gave you a prescription. But after thinking it over you decided to ignore his advice and to refuse the medicine. When he returned a few days later, he might have found your condition much worse. Could you blame the doctor? Could you hold him responsible? He gave you the prescription, he prescribed the remedy. But you refused it!

Just so, God prescribes the remedy for the ills of the human race. That remedy is personal faith in, and commitment to, Jesus Christ. The remedy is to be “born again.” If we deliberately refuse it, then we must suffer the consequence; and we cannot blame God. Is it God’s fault that we refuse the remedy?

Prayer for the day: Lord Jesus, as You sat looking over Jerusalem, You wept. Give me the same compassion for those who have not accepted Your remedy and been born again.

Can A Video Game Church Advance the Kingdom of God?

REUTERS/Robert GalbraithAudience members watch as panelists play video games at TwitchCon 2015 in San Francisco, California September 25, 2015. The conference features games, broadcasters and viewers, as well as gaming hardware and software.

A virtual church has been launched for gamers, the pastor of which says he is reaching a people group for Christ that the traditional church does not even know exists.

The Washington Post published on July 27 an interview with Matt Souza, a 27-year-old pastor from Richmond, Virginia, who is licensed through the Assemblies of God denomination and utilizes video games and a live-streaming platform called Twitch. His church is called GodSquad, and he started it in 2016 to reach a community of individuals who tend to be atheists and dislike religion.

Viewers watch the livestream of him playing games while Souza fields questions about God and the Christian faith. He also weaves in moral and ethical principles into the gaming world, urging gamers not to cuss and advises them that they not play Grand Theft Auto because of the particular kind of killing and sexual content that game promotes.

He got the idea to start a church for gamers using Twitch upon realizing the influence and reach others had. And as of last month, GodSquad Church has…

Church Votes to Leave Scottish Episcopal Church Over Same-Sex Marriage Support

(Photo: REUTERS/Suzanne Plunkett)Pedestrians walk along Princes Street in Edinburgh, Scotland May 1, 2014.

An evangelical parish with a large congregation in Edinburgh has voted to quit the Scottish Episcopal Church over its decision to be the United Kingdom’s first Anglican body to endorse same-sex marriage.

“We have not done it easily. We have had many tears and many sleepless nights. It is a tragic necessity,” the Rev. David McCarthy, Rector at the St Thomas parish, told The Sunday Telegraph about its vote to leave the SEC. “But it is the Episcopal Church who are leaving us. They are leaving orthodoxy.”

The Scottish Episcopal Church, which has over 350 churches across Scotland and is a member of the Anglican Communion, voted last June to redefine marriage to include same-sex couples.

The new clause removed the language stating that marriage is a “physical, spiritual and mystical union of one man and one woman.” It said there were…

Open Heaven 6 August 2018 – Worldliness Defined

Topic: Worldliness Defined [Open Heaven 6 August 2018 Monday Daily Devotional]

Memorise: “And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away.”- 1 Corinthians 7:13

Read: 1 John 2:15-17 (KJV)

15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Bible in One Year: Job 13-16, Matthew 14:13-33

Open Heaven 6 August 2018 MESSAGE:

Worldliness has been misconstrued by some to mean having the good things of life, such as good cars, comfortable houses, decent clothing and the like. This is not true, because some of the heroes of faith that God loved so much were not only very rich, they also lived a good life. Here is Abraham’s servant’s testimony of Abraham’s status in Genesis 24:35:

“And the LORD hath blessed my master greatly; and he is become great: and he hath given him flocks, and herds, and silver, and gold, and menservants, and maidservants, and camels, and asses.”

The good life Abraham had is evident in the fact that he could afford to entertain three “casual” passersby with a whole calf (Genesis 14:14). In light of these facts, we need to properly define what worldliness is in order to distinguish it from good living. What then is worldliness if it is not synonymous with being wealthy? Today’s memory verse gives us a hint of God’s view on this subject matter. From this verse of scripture we understand that things of this world are meant for our use but not for our abuse. According to today’s Bible reading, simply defined, worldliness is “lust”.

“For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.” 1 John 2:16

From the scripture above, we understand that worldliness is lusting after the following:

1. Things that are not yours and cannot be yours, but which you still desire by all means, such as another man’s wife.

2. Things you do not necessarily need but which you still get for the sake of the pride of life.

3. Things you own that you keep away from those who actually need them.

4. Lack of contentment with what God has made you or given you. For example, a dark person bleaching their skin to become a light person.

Above all, worldliness is denying God what He originally gave you when He demands for it. An example of this is manifested when instead of using the blessing, God has deposited in your life for the purpose of propagating the gospel, you choose to keep it away from Him because you need to buy the latest car in town, despite the fact that you already have enough cars to take you around. Learn from Joseph of Arimathaea who selflessly volunteered his own expensive tomb for Jesus’ burial (Matthew 27:57-60). Beloved, a person can be poor and still be worldly if the little he or she has is placed or valued higher than the Almighty God. How highly do you rate your possessions today?

Prayer Point: Father, please keep my heart away from worldliness in Jesus’ Name.

Open Heaven 6 August 2018 Hymn 9: The Old Rugged Cross

1. On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
The emblem of suff’ring and shame;
And I love that old cross where the Dearest and Best
For a world of lost sinners was slain.

Chorus:
So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it someday for a crown.

2. Oh, that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
Has a wondrous attraction for me;
For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above
To bear it to dark Calvary.

3. In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
A wondrous beauty I see,
For ’twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
To pardon and sanctify me.

4. To the old rugged cross I will ever be true;
Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
Then He’ll call me someday to my home far away,
Where His glory forever I’ll share.

Greg Laurie, Jack Graham Among Global Pastors Named to Board of New Congress of Christian Leaders

(Photo: Harvest America)Pastor Greg Laurie preaches at Harvest America at the University of Phoenix Stadium on June 11, 2017.

American megachurch Pastors Greg Laurie, Jack Graham and Jentezen Franklin are among the international church leaders expected to join the inaugural board of the recently launched Congress of Christian Leaders.

The new interdenominational representative body, which was launched by influential Hispanic evangelical leader Samuel Rodriguez and evangelical communications executive Johnnie Moore this spring to build “Gospel unity across the global body of Christ,” will hold its first meeting sometime in the coming months.

The CCL issued a news release Thursday listing the names of 16 church leaders from across the globe who are a part of the initial wave of board members to the body. The leaders represent many of the largest Christian movements worldwide and have “collective influence exceeding many millions of Christians on six continents.”

“What I love the most about this initial set of board members is that they lead or are deeply connected to vast local church communities around the world,” Moore said in a statement. “The CCL is not meant to replace or even subsidize the work of the global church but to bring together leaders and to serve those…

Complaints dismissed against Christian ex-mayor accused of homophobia

A number of activists, led by drag artist Tess Tickle, campaigned for Richard Smith to be stripped of his title as Mayor of Ferryhill last month over Facebook posts that they deemed “homophobic, transphobic and extremist.”

Smith, who’s also a pastor, said he was expressing biblical views when he shared an article which referred to homosexuality as “sin” and made a comment that people are not allowed to “speak the truth” about transgenderism.

He stepped down from his role in July, but remained a town councillor after what he described as “weeks of adverse publicity”.

Activists also made formal complaints to Durham County Council accusing Smith of dishonesty relating to the distribution of food to the needy by Immanuel Christian Fellowship, of which he is a trustee.

According to the Christian Legal Centre, which supported Smith, the complaints were dismissed to due Smith’s right to freedom of expression, and the fact that  none of his posts were made in his official capacity as a councillor or as mayor.

The legal group added: “The complaint alleging dishonesty provided no supporting evidence of its claims and no official complaints have been made to Greggs or Immanuel Christian Fellowship about the distribution of food.”

Smith said the allegations were “damaging to his integrity” and politically motivated, following the first change in the balance of power in…

Edinburgh church splits from Anglican body over gay marriage dispute

According to the Sunday Telegraph, St Thomas parish split from the SEC because of the Anglican body’s decision to endorse same-sex marriage.

The Rev David McCarthy, Rector at St Thomas’ told the newspaper the decision was extremely difficult.

“We have not done it easily. We have had many tears and many sleepless nights. It is a tragic necessity,” he said.

“But it is the Episcopal Church who are leaving us. They are leaving orthodoxy.”

In June 2017, the SEC voted to amend canon law and allow same-sex couples to be married in church.

The move made it the first branch of the Anglican faith in the UK to allow same-sex marriage.

SEC members voted to remove the doctrinal clause which stated that marriage is a ”union of one man and one woman”, replacing it with a clause which asserts that clergy who do not wish to preside over same-sex weddings will not be compelled to do so ”against their conscience”.

The Anglican Communion, the international association of the world’s third largest Christian movement, punished the SEC for its decision last year.

Now SEC leaders are not be allowed to represent the Anglican Communion and cannot take part in any votes the Communion holds regarding doctrine or new rules.

In response to the discipline, Most Rev Mark Strange Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church, said it was a decision that was made with much prayer, theological…
