‘I believe prayer works,’ Rush Limbaugh says in cancer treatment update

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh, who was diagnosed with advanced-stage lung cancer earlier this year, shared an update about his treatment, saying he’s been going through ups and downs but “I believe prayer works.”

“There are good days, good weeks. There are bad days and bad weeks,” Limbaugh, who was diagnosed on Jan. 22, wrote on his website.

“This past period, this past treatment, which was a week ago tomorrow, this has been much better than I thought,” said the talk show host, who began his nationally syndicated radio show about 30 years ago.

“Because of the cumulative effect of the toxicity, I was expecting to be, you know, in that just debilitating fatigue for 10 days. And I wasn’t. It lasted two days, Thursday and Friday. The weekend was good. But, again, anything can change rapidly and on a dime. So, it’s a blessing.”

Limbaugh, 69, added, “I believe prayer works. I know it does.”

Using a baseball analogy, Fox News opinion host Limbaugh said it was “a blessing that in my third at-bat, the last shot that I had at this, I got on base and I stole second, and I’m chugging on to third,…

Church gives away two cars, 100,000 pounds of food in relief effort

A volunteer distributes food at I5 City Church in Glen Burnie, Md. | Facebook/I5 City Church

As many households across America continue to struggle with food and job insecurity, i5 City Church in Glen Burnie, Maryland, partnered with Joyce Meyer Ministries in Missouri and several others over the weekend to distribute some 100,000 pounds of food and two new cars to community members in need.

“We have so many people in need and that are feeling hopeless and lonely, that what better way to get people together than to serve the community?” i5 City Church Pastor Jimmy Rollins told the Capital Gazette at his church Sunday where scores of volunteers had come to help distribute food from the church’s parking lot.

The church, which describes itself as “a group of people crazy enough to believe we can change the world,” draws its mission from Matthew 25:34-36.

“God has called us to be the tangible hands and feet of Jesus. We do this by meeting practical needs in our community. And all this can be seen in our name ‘i5.’ The ‘I’ stands for IMPACT, and the ‘5’…

Massachusetts city legalizes polyamory: J. I. Packer and the privilege of standing for biblical truth

Adobe Stock

“A man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh” (Genesis 2:24).

A town in Massachusetts may be the first in the nation to recognize polyamorous domestic partnerships.

Polyamory means “many loves” and stands for the growing movement to legitimize and legalize polygamy and other multi-partner “marriages.” An episode of HGTV’s popular show House Hunters featured a “throuple” (three-person “couple”) seeking a new home in Colorado. The American Psychological Association has created a “Consensual Non-Monogamy Task Force” to promote “awareness and inclusivity” about such relationships. A “Polyamory Group” has been formed at Princeton University.

On June 29, the city council of Somerville, a suburb northwest of Boston, unanimously passed an ordinance legally recognizing polyamorous relationships. The council member behind the change explained: “I’ve consistently felt that when society and government tries to define what is or is not a family, we’ve historically done a very poor job of doing so. It hasn’t gone well, and it’s not a business that government should be in.”

And yet apparently it is, at least in Somerville.

“The divine character of revealed truth”

J. I. Packer died Friday, July 17, at the age of ninety-three. Were it not for the death of Rep. John Lewis on the same day, I would have written yesterday’s Daily Article about this great theologian, professor, and author. In any list of the five most influential evangelical thinkers of my lifetime, he is certainly included. For many, he would head the list.

Packer is best known for his bestseller, Knowing God, which has sold more than one million copies since it was first released in 1973. As grateful as I am for this inspiring call to experience God and his attributes more intimately, another of Packer’s books has been even more significant…

Former ESPN Host: ‘If You Vote for Donald Trump, You Are a Racist’

Former ESPN Host: ‘If You Vote for Donald Trump, You Are a Racist’

A former ESPN host sparked a debate about prejudice and politics Sunday by alleging that Americans who vote for President Trump are racist.

The former host, Jemele Hill, is a contributing writer for The Atlantic and host of a Spotify podcast, Jemele Hill is Unbothered. At ESPN, she hosted SportsCenter, His and Hers, and Mike & Mike.

“If you vote for Donald Trump, you are a racist. You have no wiggle room,” Hill tweeted.

The tweet received more than 250,000 likes and was re-tweeted 60,000 times. It also led to more than 45,000 comments.

Some agreed.

“Amen! I concur,” one person wrote.

Others, though, said Hill had crossed a line.

“How can you call someone a racist when you don’t know anything about them?” one person tweeted.

“I am voting for President Trump and so is the rest of my Hispanic family,” another person tweeted.

Radical Muslims Protest Sudan’s Abolishment of Apostasy, other Islamist Laws

Radical Muslims Protest Sudan’s Abolishment of Apostasy, other Islamist Laws

JUBA, South Sudan, July 17, 2020 (Morning Star News) – Radical Muslims in Sudan took to the streets on July 17 to protest the transitional government’s adoption of amendments to decriminalize apostasy and repeal other Islamist laws.

The apostasy law has been used for more than 30 years to persecute those who leave Islam. The government’s adoption this week of the Fundamental Rights and Freedoms Act also allows non-Muslims to drink alcohol and abolishes public flogging as a criminal punishment.

“We [will] drop all the laws violating the human rights in Sudan,” Justice Minister Nasredeen Abdulbari said.

Since the government announced plans for amendments to Sudanese law late Saturday night (July 11), Muslims took to social media to criticize the moves, terming them anti-Islamic and calling for massive demonstrations. Some called for “holy war” against the government for scrapping sharia (Islamic law) provisions.

Today (July 17) limited demonstrations took place in Khartoum, Khartoum North and Omdurman to protest the amended laws.

“Sharia, sharia or we die,” protestors shouted. “Listen you, Hamdok, this is Khartoum not New York.”

Dozens of people reportedly gathered in the protests. Brandishing banners reading, “No to secularism,” they shouted, “God’s laws shall not be replaced.”

Abadalla Hamdok was appointed prime minister by an 11-member sovereign…

Church Members ‘Valiantly Risked’ Their Lives as Man Stabbed 2 at Bible Study

Church Members ‘Valiantly Risked’ Their Lives as Man Stabbed 2 at Bible Study

Police in Fairfax County, Va., arrested a suspect Saturday in the stabbing of two people at a Bible study at a well-known church in Chantilly.

Both injuries were reported as non-life-threatening.

Chance Harrison, 32, of South Riding was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated malicious wounding, one count of felony assault on a police officer and one count of misdemeanor assault.

Police say Harrison entered Grace Covenant Church in Chantilly in the afternoon Saturday as the church was hosting an educational event. He stabbed one person, a staff member, without provocation, police say. A man then “intervened and also was stabbed by Harrison,” the Fairfax County Police Department said on its blog.

News4 in Washington, D.C. said the event was a Bible study.

“Harrison was subsequently confronted and subdued by Chief [Edwin C.] Roessler and several others. A knife believed to have been used by Harrison was recovered from the scene,” the blog said.

Roessler, who is a member of the church, received minor injuries. He restrained Harrison until other police arrived.

“We are in prayer for all the injured. We are grateful for the courage exhibited that prevented worse from happening” Grace Covenant Pastor Brett Fuller said in a statement. “Lastly, we want to thank the broader community for their outpouring of concern and support in this time.”

Fuller told News4

Christian Missionary Murdered by Maoists in India

Christian Missionary Murdered by Maoists in India

A young Christian missionary and pastor lost his life at the hands of a Maoist group in India last week. The group, three armed men and three women, pulled Munshi Dec Tado out of a worship service on his property and shot in the back of the head.

Jaini Munshi Tado, Munshi’s wife, described the circumstances of his death to Morning Star News. She explained that her husband was leading a worship service on the family’s property. Then, three armed men who were accompanied by three women entered the service and interrupted it.

Tado said they, “Shook hands with him at first, then took him by his hand and, after few steps, they tied his hands at his back with a rope. I, my father-in-law, and brother-in-law followed after them, pleading and inquiring as to why they are taking him. They just said they want to talk to him and that we need not worry, they will send him back in a little while.”

They did not send him back. Tado said that after a span of only five to seven minutes, “We heard a gunshot. We immediately ran in the direction to find the body of my husband in the pool of his blood, and the Maoists had gone. I wept bitterly. My husband was gone.”

Sources told Morning Star News that villagers had become upset as 18 families had become part of Tado’s church and had converted to Christianity. The Maoists who took him away left a note in his pocket saying that he had earned money as a police…

Kanye West: Israel Should Give African Mothers who for Carrying Their Babies to Term $1 Million

Kanye West: Israel Should Give African Mothers who for Carrying Their Babies to Term $1 Million

Kanye West said at a campaign event for his bid for the presidency that women in Africa should receive a million dollars for each child.

West was speaking at a rally in North Charleston, South Carolina Sunday.

Despite reports that he had dropped from the presidential race, West showed he was still campaigning for the office. He missed registration deadlines in some states to appear on the November ballot, but he is hoping to secure votes as a write-in candidate in those states.

At the rally Sunday, West said he supported legal abortion, but noted that he also believed women who carry their baby to term should be given funds. He said Israel could fund a program in Africa where “everybody that has a baby gets a million dollars, or something in that range.”

“We will fund it with other countries,” West added. “America with other continents. There are Israeli continents that do not believe in this. There are African continents that do not believe in this.”

Despite previously stating that he supports legalized abortion, West later asserted that he is pro-life.

“My mom saved my life,” West said, according to Rolling Stone. “My dad wanted to abort me. My mom saved my life. There would’ve been no Kanye West because my dad was too busy.”

West then added that he initially encouraged his wife, Kim Kardashian West, to abort their first child, North West….

Mike Pence Warns: ‘You Won’t Be Safe in Joe Biden’s America’

Mike Pence Warns: ‘You Won’t Be Safe in Joe Biden’s America’

With the 2020 Presidential election four months away, Vice President Mike Pence stressed the importance of the choice that Americans have to make regarding the outcome of the nation.

On Friday, Pence delivered a speech to about 50 at Ripon College in Wisconsin. Throughout the speech, he warned of the dangers that a Joe Biden Presidency would have on the U.S. if he wins the election.

Ripon, Wisconsin also happens to be the birthplace of the Republican Party, which was formed in 1854. According to the Associated Press, three existing parties that would form the Republican Party had their first meeting at the Little White Schoolhouse, which is now a national historic landmark.

“When that first convention met here in 1854, they wrote that their decision to found a new political party had been ‘forced upon us by the slave power and in the defense of freedom,’” Pence said. “They said that they would cooperate and be known as Republicans.”

Like the original Republicans, the Vice President made it clear that Americans today are standing on the “crossroads of freedom.”

“You know, it’s not so much whether America will be more conservative or more liberal, more Republican or Democrat, more red or blue.  It’s whether America remains America.” Pence said.

“It’s whether we will leave to our children and our grandchildren a country grounded in our highest ideals of freedom, free…

Queen Elizabeth knights “Captain Tom” Moore: Why every age is a good age to serve Jesus

Captain Thomas Moore – 100 years of age and veteran of World War II – receives his Knighthood from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on July 17, 2020 on the grounds of Windsor Castle in Windsor, England, UK.

“Ready and raring to go for what is a very special day,” tweeted Tom Moore before his meeting with Queen Elizabeth last Friday. However, as he told the BBC, he would not kneel before the British monarch, “because if I did, I’ll never get up again.”

“Captain Tom” made global headlines when the one-hundred-year-old World War II veteran raised more than $40 million for National Health Service charities by doing laps on his walker across his garden. Queen Elizabeth II recognized his service by knighting him on the outdoor grounds of Windsor Castle.

He stood before the queen, who touched his shoulders with a very long sword that once belonged to her father, George VI. Though neither wore masks, the length of the sword provided social distancing.

It was the queen’s first semipublic appearance since the start of the pandemic, which has posed unique challenges for the ninety-four-year-old. She and her ninety-nine-year-old husband have been self-isolating at Windsor Castle. However, she has made Zoom calls and speeches that aired on television. The palace even released pictures of her riding a horse on the castle grounds.

Her approval ratings have remained extremely high throughout the pandemic.

Why every age is a good age to serve Jesus

Our utilitarian culture values us based on our value to others. The older we get, the less valuable many consider us to be.

One of the many tragic dimensions of the drive to legalize euthanasia across the nation is the sinful, selfish opinion that elderly people have “outlived their usefulness” and should not be a “burden” on their families and society.

Watching Queen Elizabeth II knight Tom Moore should put such “ageism” to rest.

No matter the age you are, God has a…
