CBN Founder Pat Robertson Leads Communion as Christians Shelter in Place for Easter Weekend

On the night Jesus was betrayed, He and His disciples had gathered in an upper room to celebrate the Jewish Passover, the sacred remembrance of how God delivered His people Israel from death in Egypt as they sheltered in their homes that were marked by the blood of a sacrificial lamb.

That Passover meal for Jesus became His Last Supper with His disciples before He would be crucified as a sacrificial Passover lamb for the sins of the world.

Luke 22:19-20 tells what happened during that Last Supper: “And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.’ In the same way, after the supper He took the cup, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.'”

In 1 Corinthians 11:23-27, we can see how the newborn church of Jesus Christ honored His sacrifice by taking communion, the same way Jesus had taught His disciples during His Last Supper.

“The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, ‘This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.’ In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.’ For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.”

On the 700 Club on this Thursday before “Good Friday”, CBN Founder Pat Robertson led the audience in a special communion event, even as Christians around the world shelter in their homes, unable to attend Maundy Thursday or Passover events, Good Friday services, and Easter Sunday celebrations.

You can join in this communion event by watching the video above.

Pastor Prophesied ‘Plague-like’ Conditions This Year, Now Says This Passover Will Be a ‘True Passover’

Pastor Prophesied ‘Plague-like’ Conditions This Year, Now Says This Passover Will Be a ‘True Passover’

Chuck Pierce of Glory of Zion ministries said late last year that the United States would see “plague-like” conditions for the first few months of 2020. Now, he says that as Passover approaches, Christians need to understand the blood of Jesus more than ever.

According to CBN News, Pierce, whose ministry is based in Texas, told CBN News in a recent interview that, “This would really be the year that believers would really have to understand Passover and that we will pass over!”

He continued, “What I saw is that at Passover this year, after this virus, after this plague-like condition was raging, that we would start turning, if we would participate in Passover. Now Passover starts Wednesday evening, April 8th and goes through Thursday evening, April 16th. Now, what we want to do is watch the turns that occur in this plague-like condition after that. Then, we have to remember there’s a 40-day period that God intended for them (The Israelites) to press on through and come into their promises. So, I believe the next 40 days after Passover is a pressing forth time for God’s people and if we press, if we grab hold of this Passover, the power of His blood, WE WILL CROSS OVER INTO NEW LEVELS OF HIS PROMISES.”

Pierce went on to say that he believes God is making believers take this year’s Passover as seriously as they did the first Passover….

Dozens of well-known Christian leaders participated in a 10-hour live event on Wednesday, April 8, where churches and organizations from around the world held virtual discussions on how to best manage the COVID-19 crisis.

Nick Hall, founder, and chief communicator for the evangelistic movement PULSE and Year of the Bible hosted this “Leader Check-In” event as a way for leaders to offer biblical and practical help to pastors and ministry leaders before the Easter weekend.

A large number of prominent leaders and evangelicals such as Beth Moore, Francis Chan, Priscilla Shirer, Mike Lindell, Bob Goff, David Platt, Lecrae, Michael W. Smith, Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, Tony Dungy, Dr. John Townsend, Kari Jobe, Sadie Robertson, Ann Voskamp and many more joined the live event.

Hall explained that the event is important during this unique time in history because so many people are searching for hope.

“Easter 2020 may be the most important Easter celebration in the past century. We are living through an unprecedented time in church history,” Hall said. “People are looking for hope and turning to churches in record numbers. I believe the message of a God who not only suffers with us and for us – but also defeats sin and death – has never been more needed.”

“We will miss this moment if we don’t care for our pastors and ministers now,” Hall added.

PULSE has partnered with the Christian aid group World Vision, to provide training supplies and equipment for those working on the front lines during the coronavirus pandemic.

“Leader Check-in” featured times of prayer, worship, and support from evangelists and political leaders.

Jack Dorsey to donate $1 billion to fight coronavirus and advice from a 1918 pandemic survivor: Making an authentic Maundy Thursday today

Jack Dorsey, CEO of Twitter

Jack Dorsey, the CEO and cofounder of Twitter and Square, has announced plans to donate $1 billion to fight the coronavirus outbreak. This is the largest pledged gift by a private individual yet during the pandemic.

He will contribute roughly 30 percent of his estimated net worth. He notes that all of his gift’s donations will be tracked through a public Google Sheet.

Dorsey explains the timing of his commitment: “The needs are increasingly urgent, and I want to see the impact in my lifetime. I hope this inspires others to do something similar. Life is too short, so let’s do everything we can today to help people now.”

Trumpet concerts from 200 feet in the air

Firefighter Elielson Silva plays his trumpet on the top of a ladder for residents in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

There is other good news in the news today: a disc jockey in Philadelphia made thirty-two food deliveries in seven days to healthcare workers on the front lines of the pandemic, supporting small businesses in the process. A firefighter in Rio de Janeiro is using a retractable fire truck ladder to play trumpet concerts from two hundred feet in the air for sheltering residents.

Geico has announced a 15 percent auto insurance credit worth billions of dollars because its customers are driving less. A math teacher in Maryland ran 102 miles in 21 hours to raise support for a local food bank.

But there’s bad news in the news, of course. As of this morning, there are nearly 1.5 million confirmed COVID-19 cases worldwide, with more than 88,000 deaths.

Nearly twice as many people in New York City have died of COVID-19 as perished on 9/11. Due to stay-at-home orders, pornography use is up, as is domestic violence and alcohol use and abuse. And in a reminder that we were broken people before the pandemic struck, the CDC reports that suicides in the US have increased 35 percent since 1999.

PODCAST: How Anthony Hopkins Found God (Gospel Light Minute #267 with Daniel Whyte III)

Gospel Light Minute – Anthony Hopkins (#267)

He is a legendary Welsh actor, widely considered to be one of the greatest of his generation. He won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1992 for his portrayal of Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs and since then was nominated for four other Academy Awards for his performances in the films, The Remains of the Day in 1993, Nixon in 1995, Amistad in 1997 and The Two Popes in 2019. He is also the recipient of three BAFTAs, two Emmys and the Cecil B. DeMille Award. In 1993, he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for his services to the arts. He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2003, and in 2008 he received the BAFTA Fellowship for lifetime achievement from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.

Despite the success garnered, during the early years of his career, the well-known actor was also a well-known atheist who found himself in a raging battle with alcoholism. During an appearance in 2018 at the 11th annual LEAP conference for high school and college students, the actor shared a major turning point in his life which led him from atheism and alcoholism to belief in the Almighty God.

While his alcohol addiction started “innocently” because “that’s what you do in theater, you drink,” the habit took over his life and by 1975, his drinking had spiraled out of control. “I was hell-bent on destruction,” the award-winning actor recalled. “It was like being possessed by a demon, an addiction, and I couldn’t stop. And there are millions of people around like that.”

That same year, he turned to Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) to seek help he desperately needed. As GodTV recounts based on the actor’s testimony, up until then, he had been an atheist. But during an AA meeting, a woman asked him a simple question: “Why don’t you just trust in God?”

Putting his faith in God was not something he had ever tried. But as desperate as he was, he thought, “Well, why not?” Deciding to believe and trust in God was the moment everything changed for the actor. “I could not stop [drinking], but I just asked for a little bit of help [from God] and suddenly, pow. It was just like, bingo,” he recalled.

Miraculously, he says the craving to drink was taken from him, “never to return again.” And he’s believed in God ever since, working daily to grow in his faith. When asked in a CNN interview with Piers Morgan if he believed in God, the repentant former atheist replied wholeheartedly, “Yes, I do. I do.”

While he will perhaps always be best known for his pitch-perfect portrayal of villainous characters like the evil Hannibal Lecter (for which he won an Oscar), the legendary actor lives out his real life with Christ in his heart. He knows what it’s like to live as an atheist before finding God and now he just feels sorry for atheists, comparing a life of unbelief to “living in a closed cell with no windows.”

“I’d hate to have to live like that, wouldn’t you?” he asks.

His name is Sir Anthony Hopkins.

This is the “Chief of Sinners,” Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International, reminding you of what the Bible says, that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” like you and me. Just as Anthony Hopkins trusts in God for salvation, may I encourage you to do the same. Here is how:

1. Accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 7:20: “For there is not a just man upon earth that doeth good, and sinneth not.” Romans 3:23 reads: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” In fact, I am the chief of sinners, so don’t think that you’re alone.

2. Accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”

3. Accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” The Bible says in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

4. Accept the fact that you cannot do anything to save yourself! The Bible states in Ephesians 2: 8, 9: “For by grace are ye saved through faith: and that not of yourselves: it is a gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

5. Accept the fact that God loves you more than you love yourself, and that He wants to save you from hell. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

6. With these facts in mind, please repent of your sins, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and pray and ask Him to come into your heart and save you this very moment. The Bible states in the book of Romans 10:9, 13: “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Dear friend, if you are willing to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation, please pray with me this simple prayer: Heavenly Father, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I now believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and save my soul and change my life today. Amen.

If you believed in your heart that Jesus Christ died on the cross, was buried, and rose again, allow me to say, congratulations on doing the most important thing in life and that is accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour! For more information to help you grow in your newfound faith in Christ, go to Gospel Light Society.com and read “What To Do After You Enter Through the Door”. Jesus Christ said in John 10:9, “I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.”

Remember, friend, Believe by faith. Share the faith. and Keep the faith!

PODCAST: Prayer Motivator Minute #918 with Daniel Whyte III

Prayer Motivator Minute #918

David Wilkerson said, “Victory in the prayer closet gets you victory on the battlefield.”

This is Daniel Whyte III with the Prayer Motivator Minute #918 here to remind you that there is still great power in prayer to God Almighty in the holy Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Our prayer motivator verse from the Word of God today is 1 Peter 4:7 which says: “But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.”

Our prayer motivator quote today is from Shane Idleman. He said, “As we all know, the blessing of a child comes only after intense pain and travail. Likewise, we must travail in prayer until we prevail….Travail is for our benefit. It draws us into a deeper relationship with [God]. It crushes our pride and produces the wonderful fruit of humility. The man or woman listening to God, obeying God, and wanting to be used by God will hear from God.”

PRAYER

Now, if you are listening today, and you do not know the Lord Jesus Christ as your Saviour, allow me to show you how.

First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”

Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 10:28: “And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Now this is bad news, but here’s the good news. Jesus Christ said in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Just believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead by the power of God for you so that you can live eternally with Him. Pray and ask Him to come into your heart today, and He will.

Romans 10:9-13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Until next time,

Remember, friend, Pray, Think, Do! God Bless You!

Movie Mogul Tyler Perry Pays for Senior-Hour Groceries at 44 Kroger Locations Across Atlanta and 29 Kroger Locations in New Orleans

Tyler Perry footed the bill for every elderly person shopping for groceries at 44 Atlanta-based Kroger stores during the supermarket’s senior hour Wednesday morning. He did the same for 29 locations in his hometown of New Orleans.

The grocery brand praised Perry for his kind-hearted donation:

👏 @tylerperry paid it forward and purchased groceries for nearly 3,000 senior shoppers today at Kroger stores across Atlanta. You can see how much this means by the look on their faces. Thank you, Tyler, for your generosity! 💙 pic.twitter.com/L57nfNqm3g

— Kroger (@kroger) April 8, 2020

“Senior and higher-risk Kroger shoppers in metro Atlanta did receive a nice surprise at the register this morning when they learned Tyler Perry had paid their grocery tab in full,” Atlanta Kroger spokesperson Felix Turner told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “We would like to join our customers in thanking Mr. Perry for his kindness and generosity during this unprecedented pandemic.”

“It was truly a pleasure to see our customers fill with joy and gratitude as the news spread throughout 44 stores across metro Atlanta,” he added.

One shopper, 64-year-old Phil Kloer, told the AJC he was shopping at the Kroger in Decatur when a clerk came up to him to tell him to get to a cashier by 8 a.m. When he got to the cash register, Kloer noticed a bag over the credit card reader.

When the at-risk shopper went to remove the bag, the grocery clerk told him not to worry about it, because Perry had paid his $290 bill.

“I was dumbstruck,” said Kloer, who is still working full-time and decided to pay it forward, donating $300 to the Atlanta Community Food Bank.

And over the weekend, the 50-year-old movie mogul gave away $21,000 — $500 each — to 42 out-of-work servers at his favorite Houston’s restaurant in Atlanta.

Kudos to Perry for using his success and wealth to make a difference.

PODCAST: Whyte House Family Devotional Reading of Charles Spurgeon’s Morning and Evening #82 with Daniel Whyte III

This is Daniel Whyte III, president of Gospel Light Society International with the Whyte House Family Devotional Reading of Charles Spurgeon’s Morning and Evening podcast. This is Episode #82.

Charles Spurgeon was a prominent English Particular Baptist preacher. He was very influential among the Christians of various denominations during his age and even today, and is commonly called the “Prince of Preachers”. After some time of alternately searching for God and running from God, he had a powerful encounter which led him to give his life to Christ. Spurgeon was only 16 when he preached his first sermon and he began publishing books shortly afterward. At the time of his death, he had preached nearly 3,600 sermons and published 49 volumes of commentaries, sayings, anecdotes, illustrations and devotions. Spurgeon said, “encouraging thoughts are like honey to the heart”, and wrote this devotional in hopes that its uplifting messages for each day of the year would bring comfort and refreshment to our walk with God. He was inspired by Isaiah 50:4 which reads, “He wakeneth morning by morning. He wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned” and Psalm 63:5-6 which says, “My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips; when I remember Thee upon my bed, and meditate on Thee in the night watches.”

Isaiah 44:22 reads: “I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.”

Attentively observe the instructive similitude: our sins are like a cloud. As clouds are of many shapes and shades, so are our transgressions. As clouds obscure the light of the sun, and darken the landscape beneath, so do our sins hide from us the light of Jehovah’s face, and cause us to sit in the shadow of death. They are earth-born things, and rise from the miry places of our nature; and when so collected that their measure is full, they threaten us with storm and tempest. Alas! that, unlike clouds, our sins yield us no genial showers, but rather threaten to deluge us with a fiery flood of destruction. O ye black clouds of sin, how can it be fair weather with our souls while ye remain?

Let our joyful eye dwell upon the notable act of divine mercy—“blotting out.” God himself appears upon the scene, and in divine benignity, instead of manifesting his anger, reveals his grace: he at once and forever effectually removes the mischief, not by blowing away the cloud, but by blotting it out from existence once for all. Against the justified man no sin remains, the great transaction of the cross has eternally removed his transgressions from him. On Calvary’s summit the great deed, by which the sin of all the chosen was forever put away, was completely and effectually performed.

Practically let us obey the gracious command, “return unto me.” Why should pardoned sinners live at a distance from their God? If we have been forgiven all our sins, let no legal fear withhold us from the boldest access to our Lord. Let backslidings be bemoaned, but let us not persevere in them. To the greatest possible nearness of communion with the Lord, let us, in the power of the Holy Spirit, strive mightily to return. O Lord, this night restore us!

PRAY.

Thank you for listening to the Morning and Evening podcast. If you do not know the Lord as your Savior, here is how you can be saved from Hell and walk with the Lord morning and evening until you go to that wonderful place called Heaven when you die:

First, accept the fact that you are a sinner, and that you have broken God’s law. The Bible says in Romans 3:23: “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Second, accept the fact that there is a penalty for sin. The Bible states in Romans 6:23: “For the wages of sin is death…”

Third, accept the fact that you are on the road to hell. Jesus Christ said in Matthew 18:8: “Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire.” Also, the Bible states in Revelation 21:8: “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Now that is bad news, but here’s the good news.

Romans 10:9 & 13 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved… For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

If you believe that Jesus Christ died on the Cross for your sins, was buried, and rose from the dead, and you want to trust Him for your Salvation today, please pray with me this simple prayer: Holy Father God, I realize that I am a sinner and that I have done some bad things in my life. I am sorry for my sins, and today I choose to turn from my sins. For Jesus Christ sake, please forgive me of my sins. I believe with all of my heart that Jesus Christ died for me, was buried, and rose again. I trust Jesus Christ as my Savior and I choose to follow Him as Lord from this day forward.

If you accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior today, please email me at [email protected] and let us know. There is some free material that we want to send you. If you have a prayer request, please e-mail that to us as well, and we will pray for you until you tell us to stop.

God loves you. We love you. And may God bless you.
