‘All Things Come from the Lord,’ Says Bo Nix, QB for No. 7 Auburn

‘All Things Come from the Lord,’ Says Bo Nix, QB for No. 7 Auburn

Auburn freshman quarterback Bo Nix has helped propel the Tigers to a No. 7 ranking and undefeated record, but he says none of it would be possible without God.

Nix told ESPN’s Holly Rowe he wears a white wristband that reads “Humble Over Hype.” It was a gift from teammate Javaris Davis.

“It reminds you to stay humble, because there’s a lot of hype around you – and [it reminds you] how you can have an influence on other people at the same time,” Nix said. “That’s really important.”

Nix was the No. 1 pro-style high school quarterback last year according to Rivals.com and chose the Tigers over Alabama, Clemson and Oklahoma, among others. This year, he has helped lead Auburn to wins over Top 25 foes Oregon and Texas A&M.

Asked how he stays humble, Nix told Rowe, “You just come to work every week and go to practice and just make sure that you’re the teammate that the guys want to follow. And then you’re doing the best you can to win the game on Saturday.”

His Christian faith, Nix added, helps him stay grounded. He even attends church on Sunday mornings after a Saturday game.

“I get up and go to church, because I know that all things come from the Lord and He can take them away really quickly,” Nix said. “And so just be thankful for this position that I’m in.”

Mayors challenge ageism, with churches guilty too

On the UN Day for Older Persons, their letter says many old people suffer from other’s outdated attitudes that prevent them living life to the full.

18 councillors have also signed the letter, as well as council leaders and people who work in health and social care.

They state: “Even seemingly casual ageism is deeply damaging both to individuals and to our communities, with recent research suggesting that a quarter of people over 50 have felt discriminated against whilst doing everyday tasks or accessing services. Even seemingly positive phrases like ‘you look young for your age’ can reinforce damaging stereotypes.

“If we are to make real progress towards age equality, we must all work to root out ageism in our own communities and organisations. We will challenge ageism wherever we see it, whether it’s in public or in private, and ensure that the voices of older people are at the heart of our local decision-making.

“As well as making this commitment, we’re asking everyone to join us: we can all re-think our own prejudices, think more carefully about the impact our words can have on others, and be part of a movement to end ageism once and for all.”

Louise Morse from Pilgrim’s Friends Society, and author of What’s Age Got To Do With It? told Premier this is a problem within churches as well.

“In churches older people are not often engaged in church meetings or in…

Pope Francis Meets with Priest to Discuss LGBTQ Catholics

Pope Francis Meets with Priest to Discuss LGBTQ Catholics

(RNS) — Pope Francis met one on one with American Jesuit priest James Martin at the Vatican on Monday (Sept. 30) to discuss LGBTQ Catholics, a move some advocates say is a signal of support for a priest who has come under fire for calling on Catholics to be more compassionate to LGBTQ people.

“It was amazing and very consoling,” Martin said of the meeting in an interview with Religion News Service. “The conversation went very easily and focused mainly on ministry to LGBT Catholics, which (Francis) was happy to talk about. … I spent 30 minutes with a warm and compassionate pastor.”

Martin would not discuss details of his conversation with the pontiff, which took place at the pope’s private library, where Francis often meets heads of state. But Martin insisted that he lifted up the concerns of LGBTQ Catholics during the 30-minute discussion.

“I brought into that room the joys and the hopes and the struggles and the challenges of LGBT Catholics and LGBT people worldwide,” Martin said of the meeting, which was his first private audience with any pope.

Martin explained that the audience — which featured only himself, Francis, and a translator — happened at the invitation of the pope. According to Martin, Francis told the American Jesuit priest, “I want to have an audience with you,” after the two met briefly in Rome during a meeting with the Vatican’s…

Prime Minister praises chaplain for support to gay farmers

Canon Keith Ineson has been given the Points of Light award which recognises outstanding volunteers who are making a change in their community and inspiring others

He’s been highlighted for his work setting up the Gay Farmer Helpline which supports men in isolated rural communities struggling with their sexuality.

Despite himself realising he was gay at the age of 14, he only felt able to come out at the age of 50.

After founding Cheshire’s Agricultural Chaplaincy Team, he began working with gay farmers and realised how many people across the country in the same situation must also be hiding their sexuality and consequently facing enormous pressures on their mental health and wellbeing.

In a personal letter to Keith, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said: “I know you do this with no thought of praise or reward, but allow me to offer my own recognition of how you are using your unique, confidential helpline service to support men across the country who are living in isolated rural communities and are struggling with their sexuality and wellbeing.”

Speaking about the award, Keith said: “Since starting the helpline for gay farmers we have helped nearly 500 farmers, some of who were suicidal, so I am extremely pleased that this work has been recognised in this way.”

Keith is the 1251st winner of the Points of Light award.

Hillsong singer leaves hospital after brain aneurysm

Taylor was taken to an intensive care unit after an 8am service at the Hills campus site in Sydney on 18th August it was discovered she had a brain aneurysm, a bulge in a blood vessel that can cause sudden agonising headaches, a stiff neck, sickness and pain when looking at light.

Chelsea Taylor had neck and back pain, making moving around difficult and also had surgery on her brain.

Her friend and fellow singer Emma Fellers wrote on Instagram on 23rd September that she can now walk, talk and drive.

She still needs physiotherapy and recovery time at home but was allowed to leave the High Dependency Unit.

Emma Fellers wrote on Instagram: “COMING HOOOOOOOOMMMEEEE!!!!!!!! 100% healed, able to walk, talk, DRIVE ?? (still needing recovery time at home and continued physiotherapy obviously), but PRAISE GOD, He is FAITHFUL!!!!! LOVE YOU GIRL!!!!!”

In a text message screenshotted, Chelsea wrote that she was “reminding my heart that everything is in the Lord’s perfect timing”.

Ten days earlier, Emma had visited her and posted afterwards: “Her sense of humour hasn’t changed one bit, her speech is perfect, almost as though nothing has happened, she can get up and move around (with a bit of help from nurses).”

Others who visited her in the last fortnight acknowledged how she had returned more to her usual character, with Tony Crocker from Hillsong in Sydney writing on…

‘Miracle Baby of Dachau dies’: God will lead you where he can best use you

Helga Page was born on April 2, 1945, in the barracks of Dachau, a concentration camp in southern Germany. Her birth occurred nine months after her mother was raped by a German prison guard.

Her parents were not Jewish; they were imprisoned because of their opposition to the Nazis. Her mother hid her under the garbage so German soldiers would not kill them both. Twenty-seven days after her birth, Dachau was liberated.

Helga was sick with typhoid fever and appeared to be close to death, so she was taken to a German hospital and then placed in an orphanage. Six years later, her mother, Agnes, was able to care for her. Agnes had married an American soldier by that time; he brought Agnes and Helga to the United States, where she grew up.

Known as the “Miracle Baby of Dachau,” Helga Page died last Thursday at the age of seventy-four.

Remembering the Shoah

I have led study tours in Israel more than thirty times over the years. Each time, the Lord speaks to me in a very personal way. After returning yesterday from our latest Holy Land pilgrimage, an image has stayed in my mind and soul.

Sunday afternoon, our group visited Yad Vashem, the memorial in Israel dedicated to the victims of the Shoah. Most people call this tragedy the holocaust, but Jews are quick to note that holocaust signifies a “sacrifice,” which would mean that the Nazis sacrificed six million people to God.

They did nothing of the kind—they murdered six million people.

Shoah is a Hebrew word that means catastrophe and signifies the worst, most horrific possible outcome of an event. The term is appropriate for the attempted extermination of the Jewish people by Hitler and the Nazis.

A face I cannot forget

One building in Yad Vashem is called the “Children’s Memorial.” Hollowed out from an underground cavern, it is a tribute to the 1.5 million Jewish children who were murdered during the Shoah.

Five candles are placed in the…

Today’s episode features new co-host Sam Rainer, Lead Pastor of West Bradenton Baptist Church in Bradenton, FL and President of Church Answers. The discussion today is about neighborhood church adoption.

Some highlights from today’s episode include:

  • Adoption is more theologically accurate than merger or acquisition.
  • Relationships and ministry should be priority when adopting another church..
  • Remember, the principle of “eating an elephant” may need to take place when two churches merge.
  • An adopting church must be willing to send missionaries to the adopted church.
  • The local community or neighborhood is still the focus when adopting a church.

Pope Francis meets Jesuit who has been criticised for LGBT outreach

The Vatican listed the audience with Father James Martin among the pope’s activities, in a sign that Francis wanted it publicised.

Since only some of Francis’ private meetings are announced, the implicit message was a public vote of confidence in Fr Martin’s ministry.

Fr Martin, author of Building A Bridge, a book about how the Catholic Church should reach out more to the LGBT community, has had several talks cancelled in the United States because of pressure from conservative groups who oppose his advocacy.

The Vatican under Francis has welcomed him, however, appointing him as a communications consultant, giving him a speaking slot at a 2018 Vatican-sponsored family rally, and now, a private papal audience.

In a tweet on Monday, Fr Martin said that during the 30-minute meeting, he shared with Francis “the joys and hopes, and the griefs and anxieties, of LGBT Catholics and LGBT people worldwide”.

In a telephone interview, Fr Martin said Francis listened intently to his presentation, delivered in Spanish, about the struggles of LGBT Catholics “and how many of them still feel marginalised” by the church.

“I felt encouraged, consoled and inspired by our meeting,” he said.

“It was like talking to the most compassionate parish priest you can imagine.”

Official church teaching calls for gay men and lesbians to be respected and loved, but considers homosexual activity…

Teen Boy Saves Neighbor Trapped under Car, Says God Helped Him Rescue Him

Teen Boy Saves Neighbor Trapped under Car, Says God Helped Him Rescue Him

A 16-year-old teenager in Ohio says God helped him save his neighbor, whose car fell on top of him.

Zac Clark added that he thanks God for the opportunity to help his neighbor.

Clark was outside in the yard working with his mother when he heard his neighbor crying for help.

According to CBN News, the neighbor was pinned under a Volkswagen Passat.

“I guess the jack broke or slipped and the car fell on top of him from the waist up,” Clark said. “Only thing I could see was his legs and he was struggling.”

Clark then lifted the 3,000-pound sedan off his neighbor so his mother and the neighbor’s wife could pull the man out from under the car.

“He had a couple of cracked ribs and his face was messed up pretty bad, but the doctors told him if I wasn’t there, then he’d be dead,” he said.

“I was thankful that I was put in the opportunity to be able to save someone’s life. I thank God for letting me be able to do that.”

Clark’s mother, Lora, told CNN that he was raised “to be kind to one another and if you can help, then to help. I’m just very proud.”

Clark’s football team, Clear Fork High School, tweeted the news last week, calling Clark a “real life (sic) hero.”

“We have a real life (sic) hero on our football team. Our left guard, Zach Clark, lifted a car that fell off the jack and on to his neighbor’s chest yesterday. His neighbor…

Selena Gomez Says Lauren Daigle Has an ‘Anointing,’ Calls Her Music a ‘Blessing’

Selena Gomez Says Lauren Daigle Has an ‘Anointing,’ Calls Her Music a ‘Blessing’

Popstar Selena Gomez is raving about Lauren Daigle’s music on social media once again.

On Sunday, Gomez posted a clip of Daigle in concert to her Instagram, captioning it, “This girl is a ball of sun. She has an anointing that bursts out ferociously in her voice, words, and music. You and your music are a blessing @lauren_daigle.”

Accompanying Gomez’s message was a clip of Daigle singing her popular tune, Rescue, which ranks No. 2 on Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs chart. Daigle’s You Sayhas been No. 1 for 61 weeks.

It’s not the first time Gomez has recommended Daigle’s music. Last year, Gomez posted a video on Instagram Story explaining why she likes Daigle’s song, This Girl. Daigle’s songs, Gomez has said, encouraged her during her battle with anxiety and depression.

“I want to suggest a song for you to listen to if you like it,” Gomez told her fans last year on Instagram. “No worries if you don’t. As some people know, I like to listen to worship music and this song, in particular, makes me feel like I’m talking about that feeling – you know, like, I’m not going anywhere, I’m just showing up.”

“But it’s really hard to not get worked up or upset when you constantly feel like you’re doing the right thing and you’re showing up for people and you’re wanting to be, you know, nice and you’re doing all…
