In a sermon at Washington D.C.’s Washington National Cathedral, the Anglican Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, who heads the Anglican Church and is one step below the Monarch, who is the top authority of the communion, told Christians to disengage from politics at church and to refrain from bad behavior on social media.

According to The Christian Post, Welby asserted that “the Kingdom of God is ‘an autocracy of the purest love,’ and Christians ‘do not choose to be its citizens; its ruler called us out of helpless darkness.’”

In a YouTube video of the sermon released, along with a transcript, by the Archbishop’s website, Welby tells the story of Jacob, whom he refers to as “a narcissistic conman, found out, thrown out, down and out,” to show that people are complex and that Christians shouldn’t oversimplify situations.

“[Jacob] has cheated his father and his brother. Yet God’s grace and love are greater than his sins and failing,” he said.

“He is in great danger. Hot pursuit is close behind him. Wild animals are round about him. Yet God, the unknown God of his ancestors, is with him. In Jacob’s ignorance and sin God draws near, rescues, blesses and sets him on a new course. His future is of blessing received and giving.”

This week, Christian Headlines was given exclusive access to travel alongside Vice President Pence during his campaign stop in Atlanta on Wednesday.

As soon as his plane touches down at Dobbins Airforce base outside of Atlanta, Pence did a traditional meet-and-greet with statewide political officials, including Governor Kemp.

Without missing a beat, the caravan crisscrossed through Atlanta for the Vice President to attend a closed-door fundraiser lunch with the party’s faithful.

Archaeologist from the Israel Antiquities Authority have recently uncovered an Jewish ritual bath that dates back to the Second Temple Period, according to CBN News.

The Jewish ritual bath, otherwise known as a mikveh in Hebrew, was found during an excavation that will be followed by the construction of a huge highway interchange at the Hamovil junction in Lower Galilee.

Remains of an ancient agricultural Jewish farmstead were also found in excavation, in which experts are given a deeper look to Jewish life from the Second Temple Period.

“The existence of a mikveh, a purification facility, unequivocally indicates that the residents of the ancient farm were Jewish, who led a religious and traditional way of life, and maintained purity as a Torah commandment. Ritual baths have been used in daily life by Jews since the Second Temple period and until today,” excavation directors Abd Elghani Ibrahim and Dr. Walid Atrash explained.

They added that this was the first time archeologists uncovered the ancient remains of Jewish farms that had once existed in Galilee.

“The discovery of the mikveh in the farmstead changes what we knew about the lifestyle of the Jews in the Second Temple period,” the excavation directors said. “Until now we hadn’t discovered Jewish farms in Galilee. A 41-year-old Polish filmmaker, audio producer and director is working on a “super production” of an Audio Bible that is meant to provide listeners with an epic recording of the sacred scriptures.

“As a filmmaker, audio producer, and director, I want the Audio Bible to feel like a cinematic audio experience,” Krzysztof Czeczot told Aleteia. “When you close your eyes, you should be in the middle of the story, because the word has power, but also, the word has a space.”

The casting for the upcoming project will feature 100s of voice actors, ranging from A-list Hollywood actors to everyday people. Additionally, the technology that will be used in the production is through a binaural recording, an audio technique that is meant to provide a “3-D sound” to listeners, especially when using headphones.

Czeczot explained that he took a trip to Israel with his team to record “the sounds of the spirit of the place,” such as the crowds, people in the market, animals, and so forth.

“We were in Jerusalem, we were in the desert, we were on the Dead Sea, we were in Jericho,” he added.

Czeczot had previously put out a Polish edition of the Audio Bible which has sold roughly 145,000 copies. The Audio Bible project’s YouTube channel has over 5.4 million views.

VATICAN CITY (RNS) — Responding to reports that the Vatican sent a delegation to Beijing to renew negotiations on the appointment of Catholic bishops, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo issued a stern reminder during an impromptu visit here on Wednesday (Sept. 30) that faith leaders need to “exercise a moral witness against the persecution of believers.”

His comments, first published in an article and then repeated at the U.S. Embassy event, were met with pushback from church officials.

“Nowhere is religious freedom under assault as much as it is in China today,” Pompeo said at the symposium on “Advancing and Defending International Religious Freedom through Diplomacy,” organized by the U.S. Embassy to the Holy See in Rome.

Ravi Zacharias International Ministries has launched an investigation into recent claims that the late apologist Ravi Zacharias sexually harassed several women.

According to Christianity Today, Zacharias, who regularly received massage therapy to help manage pain caused by a 1985 spinal injury, was accused by three women who worked at a two-day spa he co-owned of inappropriately touching them, exposing himself to them, and masturbating in front of them during his treatment sessions between 2005-2010.

The women requested anonymity out of fear of retribution.

While it is unclear if Zacharias committed any of these acts, Zacharias’ former business partner reportedly issued an apology via text to one of the women.

According to Christianity Today, one woman claimed that Zacharias, insisting that he was burdened by his ministry, would regularly masturbate in front of her. She recalled him doing this at least 50 times.

Another woman claimed, “He would expose himself every time, and he would touch himself every time.”

She asserted that the private massage room “was where he went to get what he wanted sexually.”
