Produced in the UK by Sofiri Stewart, ‘You Are Great’ is the perfect song for uplifting spirits and rebuilding faith in a time of pain and confusion during COVID-19. Through Gifty’s compelling, soul-stirring vocals, her new single creates an atmosphere of worship that touches your heart.
Inspired by a challenging period in the singer-songwriter’s life, when Gifty was on the verge of losing her home to financial difficulties and experiencing medical difficulties that threatened to miscarriage her pregnancy, the single’s poignant lyrics describe the strength and compassion that God brought to her in her time of need.
“There was a time when I couldn’t pay for my mortgage and I was about to lose my home. When I thought I was going to miscarriage my baby, I heard God speak to me. The medical staff intervened to get him out. I was in debt and I couldn’t pay my bills or and even my tuition fees for university. Today I am debt free. Gifty Ovire is a British-Nigerian contemporary Christian and gospel artist.
Gifty’s brand new gospel single, ‘You Are Great’ (released July 26), features on her
upcoming album ‘God Alone’. With a voice described as powerful and compelling, her
natural gifts leave you awestruck and uplifted, underpinned by her spiritual message of
unconditional love and faith in Christ.
Her debut gospel album ‘TrulyGifted’ (2000), featuring singles ‘Win the Lost’ and ‘I’ve Got
God’s Love’, were frequently played on Premier Christian Radio, making Gifty one of the
first few Black British artists to be aired regularly. In 2014, she released the single ‘Oh Lord
You Reign’. Prior to the making of her debut album, Gifty toured the UK as a solo artist
and performed at festivals and events across Europe, South Africa and the US, leaving
global audiences touched and inspired by her sound.
Gifty’s main inspiration for making music is Jesus Christ, whose love continues to fill her
with passion and joy for helping people connect to God through music. She finds
motivation in the word of God and the Holy Bible, which are tools that help her reach her
full potential as an artist. Gifty also finds mentorship and creative influence in artists like
Yolanda Adams, Fred Hammond, Helen Baylor, Israel Houghton and Whitney Houston.
