Pink Calls Out Fat-Shaming Twitter Bullies, Says She Feels Beautiful

Pink CoverGirl Instagram

Christian Post Report – Pink is the new face of CoverGirl’s cosmetics.

Singer Pink has lashed out at bullies on Twitter who have called her fat and poked fun at her curves.

Inundated with hateful comments after being photographed looking heavier than usual, American pop singer and songwriter Pink called out Twitter bullies who ridiculed her curvier form and called her fat.

When the “Just Give Me A Reason,” singer was photographed on the red carpet Saturday during the John Wayne 30th Annual Odyssey Ball in Beverly Hills in an ankle-length black dress with a plunging neckline, she proudly showed off her new fuller figure.

Twitter denizens immediately took to their accounts calling the singer, who is mother to a 3-year-old daughter, fat, even going so far as to tell her to stop making music and raise her “ugly” child instead.

Pink, known for her feisty attitude, responded with a tweet explaining she attended a cancer benefit to support her friend, Dr. Maggie DiNome for her efforts and contributions towards the eradication of cancer, and unfortunately, her detractors only seemed concerned with how much weight she gained.

The 35-year-old singer, real name is Alecia Beth Moore, who was escorted to the event by her husband, motocross racer, Carey Hart, further told her Twitter followers she felt beautiful, and enjoined her bashers to please not worry about her.

“I’m not worried about me. And I’m not worried about you either. I am perfectly fine, perfectly happy, and my healthy, voluptuous and crazy strong body is having some much deserved time off,” her Twitter statement read.

Pink, who has made a name for herself appearing onstage in her concerts wearing wild hair and sporting a toned and muscled body, has relaxed her fitness regimen in the last few years since giving birth to her daughter, Willow Sage.

She also posted images and anecdotes on her Twitter feed showing her family’s acceptance for her more motherly figure.

Risk for Autism Heightened During Mid-Pregnancy Diabetes, Study Finds

Pregnancy (Photo: REUTERS/NEWSCOM/HANDOUT)

Christian Post Report – A pregnant woman is seen in this undated handout image.

According to a new study published in the Journal of American Medical Association, children born from a mother who developed diabetes early in her pregnancy have heightened risk of autism.

Specialists from Kaiser Permanente in Fontana, Calif. revealed that they reviewed medical records of over 322,000 children delivered at Kaiser Permanente hospitals from 1995 to 2010. In the study, 130 of the 3,400 children diagnosed with autism, have mothers who developed gestational diabetes. The study concludes that mothers who have gestational diabetes at the 26th week of their pregnancy have 40 percent increased risk of having children with autism.

Although researchers could not pinpoint the exact link of autism and diabetes, learning and behavioral specialist Dr. Edward Curry stipulates that the high levels of blood sugar could be the culprit, as it affects fetal brain growth, specifically in areas that functions for social behavior and communication.

In the same study, children whose mothers have pre-existing diabetes are not found to have increased risk of developing autism.

Although the study highlights the importance of undergoing prenatal care to include diabetes screening for those who have risk factors, Dr. Andrew Adesman, chief of developmental and behavioral pediatrics at Cohen Children’s Medical Center of New York warns, “Although this study suggests the development of gestational diabetes during the first or second trimester of pregnancy puts a fetus at increased risk for an autism spectrum disorder, the magnitude of this risk – if real – is relatively small.”

Autism is a developmental disorder that involves children having communication problems, intellectual difficulties, and limited social skills. To date, no established causes have been identified but experts believe that it could be due to genetic differences compounded by several factors including preterm birth, prenatal infection, and parental age.

Gestational diabetes is a type of diabetes that occurs during pregnancy. It increases the risk for future diabetes and causes preterm birth and large babies with increased risk of having diabetes, as well.

According to the Center for Disease Control, about one in 68 children in U.S. have an autism spectrum disorder, while 14 percent of pregnancies are affected by gestational diabetes.

‘Arrow’ Season 3 News, Spoilers: Promo for Crossover Episode With ‘The Flash’ Shows Ollie in a League Uniform

Christian Post Report – The cast of Arrow

The stakes are getting high right now with just about a handful of episodes left before the current season of the hit crime-fighting and superhero TV drama series “Arrow” comes to an end.

Roy Harper (Colton Haynes) was locked up for taking on the identity of the Arrow instead of Oliver (Stephen Amell). The ever persistent Ra’s Al Ghul (Matthew Nable), on the other hand, won’t back up with his plans to make Ollie a part of his League.

A new promotional video for an upcoming crossover episode between “Arrow” and “The Flash” in which Oliver was seen donning a League of Assassins’ garb instead of his green archer uniform that fans of the show often see him in.

Avid followers of the DC TV series were quick to theorize that Ollie may have already bowed to the will of Ra’s Al Ghul and become the next “Demon.” What could drive him to do so?

Movie Pilot speculated that Roy/Arsenal might be killed off in the next episode while being in prison. With the will to keep Starling City free of criminals and such, Ollie will then take Ra’s offer to continue his mission while making sure that his identity is being kept under wraps.

Of course the show’s hero will eventually come to his senses as what executive producer Marc Guggenheim suggested in his Twitter post showing the image of the show’s finale episode titled “My Name is Oliver Queen.”

One way or another, the city he loved may know who the real person is behind the green archer costume.

Meanwhile, a synopsis for this week’s episode titled “Broken Arrow” was posted on the Futon Critic and it reads:

“Lance (Paul Blackthorne) continues his mission to take down the Arrow (Stephen Amell) so Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) orders Oliver to keep a low profile. However, when a meta-human named Jake Simmons (guest star Doug Jones), who kills people with blasts of energy and plasma, starts terrorizing Starling City, Oliver is forced to ask Ray (Brandon Routh) for help. The unlikely duo is forced to team up to save the city.”

“Arrow” Season 3 airs Wednesday, at 8 p.m. on The CW.

‘Supernatural’ Season 10 News, Spoilers: Charlie Helps Sam and Dean Obtain the Book of the Dead

Supernatural FACEBOOK/ Supernatural

Christian Post Report – The CW’s “Supernatural”

The quest to find the cure for the Mark of Cain has been a big burden for the Winchester brothers. However, the next episode of the hit supernatural TV series “Supernatural” may provide the answer that Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki) have long been searching for. If only it would be that easy.

The episode aptly titled “Book of the Damned” is reported to see the return of Charlie (Felicia Day) and her first order of business is to inform the demon hunters that she has the information as to where the Book of the Dead is located. But knowing where the book is will just be the first part of the plan. Obtaining it will certainly be a challenge for the trio.

A synopsis for the upcoming segment was posted on The Futon Critic and it reveals that a certain man named Jacob Styne (guest star Jeff Branson) declares that his family owns the book and he won’t let anyone take it. In fact, Styne will resort to some violent actions to protect his property by shooting Charlie.

Speaking to Collider, Day revealed how important for her character to aid the brothers in their quest as she herself can relate to what Dean is going through.

“She’s highly motivated by having been split into the light and dark half of herself. We can all imagine what we’d do, if we were in certain scenarios, and how ruthless, violent and dark we could be, and Charlie had the rare opportunity to actually see that,” she said.

“She wants to help Dean avoid the darkest part of himself. I don’t know if she likes herself quite as much as she did before, so it’s definitely a motivating factor for her,” Day explained.

“Supernatural” Season 10 airs Wednesday at 9 p.m. on The CW.

Historic Washington Church Where Abraham Lincoln Worshiped Hosts Multiple Events Marking 16th President’s Birth and Assassination

The historic New York Avenue Presbyterian Church, located in Washington, D.C.

Christian Post Report – A historic Washington, D.C. church Abraham Lincoln attended while president is host to multiple events in memory of the former commander-in-chief.

New York Avenue Presbyterian Church held two of its multiple observances around the 150th anniversary of President Lincoln’s assassination.

Events included a tribute concert performed Sunday by the Collegium Musicum of the University of Miami and a commemoration of the anniversary of the Lincoln assassination, which was Tuesday, by Lincoln expert John O’Brien.

In an interview with The Christian Post, O’Brien explained that while Lincoln never joined the church he attended worship there and spoke often with New York Avenue’s pastor, Phineas D. Gurley.

“There is significant evidence that he and Gurley had many discussions about how to understand God’s will in the president’s personal life tragedies as well as in his management of the Civil War,” O’Brien said.

“The depth of his religious thought is best revealed in his second inaugural address when he observed that God couldn’t be for both sides, and He may not be for either. And that he surmised that the terrible cost of the war was God’s judgement that the entire country had benefited, and thus was responsible for the sin that was slavery.”

Frank J. Williams, member of the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Foundation, told CP that “it is most appropriate for” New York Avenue to hold its events, as the Lincoln family “worshipped here and even had a pew.”

“Unlike Mrs. Lincoln, Abraham Lincoln never joined a church. Yet, he very much believed in a Divine being or providence, especially during the war years when it grew,” Williams said.

“You see his faith in the wonderful second inaugural address where he invokes the Old Testament, like an ancient prophet, to assess blame for the war on the North as well as the South.”

Williams also told CP that several other events are being held in remembrance of Lincoln, including “an all-night vigil at Ford’s Theatre on the evening of April 14-15 [and a] “reenactment of his funeral in Springfield, Illinois, his hometown, on May 3.”

The Rev. Roger Gench, senior pastor at New York Avenue, told CP that given his connection to the church, they “regularly hold special events in remembrance of Lincoln.”

“Just this year [we] had an event about African-Americans in D.C. and Lincoln; another event on the second inaugural address; and in May there will be a daylong event for Lincoln scholars,” Gench added.

“Many people, including scholars, do not appreciate Lincoln’s religious beliefs. But … others point to Lincoln’s profound biblical knowledge and his passionate belief in God’s sense of justice and providence in ending slavery.”

Christian Post Report – The cast of CBS’ “Criminal Minds”

This week’s showing of the hit police procedural TV drama series “Criminal Minds” Season 10 will reroute back to the show’s familiar faces after it aired the backdoor pilot for its spinoff series titled “Beyond Borders” last April 8.

While fans await as to how the previous episode fare in the small screen, the upcoming segment will see Rossi (Joe Mantegna), Hotch (Thomas Gibson), Morgan (Shemar Moore) and Callahan (Jennifer Love Hewitt) back into action.

Titled “A Place at the Table,” the BAU team will be called in to investigate a certain family in Maryland who are murdered at their very own dining table. The synopsis posted on The Futon Critic says that the team will track down other members related to the family as well as friends of the deceased to help uncover the secrets behind the gruesome murder.

“We’re not close. He’s the father of my cherished grandson Jack, but he’s responsible for my daughter being brutally murdered,” Asner informed TV Guide.

‘The Americans’ Season 3 Cast News, Spoilers: Show’s Big Revelation Coming Soon

The Americans FACEBOOK/ The Americans

Christian Post Report – FX’s “The Americans”

Fans are getting more hooked in the unexpected twists and turns of the third season of the hit spy fiction TV drama series “The Americans.”

Now that Philip Jennings (Matthew Rhys) and Elizabeth’s (Keri Russel) secrets were already revealed to their daughter, Paige (Holly Taylor), it would only be a matter of time that their identities will be out in the open. And fans were quick to speculate that this could affect the younger Jennings’ life.

Series creator Joe Weisberg told The New York Post that “it’s going to take some time” for Paige to “digest” the idea about her family’s real deal.

“How is she going to react? You’ve got three episodes to track this kid’s response to this cataclysmic event in her life,” Weisberg said.

Of course, Paige plays an important role in the whole espionage thing.

“The wild card was going to be Paige,” Weisberg said. “She’s a full, independent person with her own ideas for herself. Once we came up with the idea of her asking, it made her fit right into that psychological understanding of the family dynamic.”

Meanwhile, a report from Franchise Herald tackles on the issue concerning Nina Segeevna’s recent condition.

After being pardoned by the Soviet Union for her crime of leaking information to the United States, Nina must keep in mind that her status in the KGB is already tainted and that she has to be wary of her actions.

An interview with Annet Mahendru, who plays the character in question, indicates that the stakes are high for Nina.

“Nina has to be so careful and so honest in a weird way to survive. She can’t afford to ever make a mistake, she can’t be a goof. She’s never just doing one thing, she’s operating on a bunch of levels at once. It’s exhausting. Sort of like family dinner. But not really,” she said.

A synopsis for this week’s segment titled “I Am Abassin Zadran” meanwhile indicates that Philip and Elizabeth “must work a formidable Mujahideen commander.” Martha (Alison Wright), on the other hand, receives an “unexpected guest.” Followers of the show will also see Paige making her move.

“The Americans” Season 3 airs Wednesday at 10 p.m. on FX.

‘Incredibles 2’ Release Date News: Writer-Director Brad Bird Confirms Script is Underway

Christian Post Report – It was almost a year or so when the news first broke out that a sequel for 2004’s computer-animated comedy superhero film, “The Incredibles,” was announced. Updates for the film’s second installment have been scarce since then until this recent announcement from its writer-director.

Brad Bird, who was also the brain behind Pixar’s beloved animated film, “Ratatouille,” confirmed that the script for “Incredibles 2” is now in development.

“I’m just staring to write it, so we’ll see what happens,” he told NPR.

Bird, who also voiced Edna Mode — she was the fashion designer for the Supers in the film — also talked about the current status of film industry and the rampant info leakage.

“It’s very difficult nowadays because everyone has a device with which they can ruin your movie. They print things on paper so that nobody can copy them, but they also make them impossible to read when you’re on the set,” he continued.

Disney CEO Bob Iger announced on March 2014 during a shareholder’s meeting that Pixar and the Mouse House are planning to continue the story of former superheroes, Bob (voiced by Craig T. Nelson) and Helen Parr’s (Holly Hunter) and their children, as well as a third installment for the “Cars” franchise.

As to what “Incredibles 2” would bring, Bird previously said during an interview in May 2013 that he’s got “many, many elements that I think would work really well in another Incredibles film, and if I can get ’em to click all together, I would probably wanna do that.”

‘Insidious: Chapter 3’ Lin Shaye Commends New Franchise Director Leigh Whannell

Insidious: Chapter 3 FACEBOOK/ Insidious

Christian Post Report – Blumhouse Productions’ upcoming horror-thriller film “Insidious: Chapter 3”

Leigh Whannell, who appeared in the first two “Insidious” films and is now directing its third installment, and Lin Shaye, who plays the character Elise, recently shared some interesting details about the “Insidious: Chapter 3.”

Whannell admitted that he admired what James Wan, the franchise’s former helmer, did with the first films and that it was a surmountable task to even “equal” his works.

“It did seem like the logical fit for me to direct having written the first two films. I had my own fears about it. I had fears about living up to what James did, because he is such a good horror director,” he said.

“I really think he’s a master of putting these scenes together. So I felt like it was a really big set of shoes to fill. So I just tried to equal. And I think, from what we’ve heard, it really does equal the first film in terms of those shocks,” Whannell explained.

Shaye meanwhile commends Whannell as to what he did with “Insidious 3.”

“See I also feel that there is something, with all due respect to Wan who did the first two films — they are both masterful in every way — there is a difference of horror in this film than there is in the first two,” she said.

“There is still the traditional scares, and builds to scares, and builds to the jangles. I think it deals with the themes of human loss, and the way the demon, ‘The Man Who Can’t Breathe,’ is almost a recognizable figure. Leigh talks to him as the embodiment of cancer, and I got to say, unfortunately, it gives me chills,” she went on to say.

It has already been reported that Focus Features and Blumhouse Productions’ upcoming horror film will offer fans a glimpse as to what happens before the haunting of the Lambert family in the first two chapters.

“Insidious: Chapter 3” is slated to hit the cinemas this June 5, 2015.
