Christian Post Report – Paris Saint-Germain Forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Paris Saint-Germain have the tall task to eliminate Barcelona as they are paired in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals. The first leg will be played on April 15, 2015 at 2:45 p.m. ET at Parc des Princes in Paris.

Already familiar to each other, Barcelona and PSG were in Group F in the group stages of the competition.

Barcelona won that group by winning five of six matches, while PSG came in second but were only two points behind the Catalans. In fact, Barcelona’s only loss in the group stages was against PSG when they met in Paris in only their second games in the competition.

David Luiz scored the match’s opener for the hosts but it was erased in only a minute after Lionel Messi leveled things. Marco Verratti restored the lead in the 26th and was doubled by Blaise Matuidi in the second half. Neymar tried to start a comeback for the La Liga squad by scoring two minutes after Matuidi’s goal but they ran out of time and PSG secured the three points.

When the two teams qualified for the knockout stages, PSG were handed the task to beat Chelsea in the round-of-16.

In what was one of the best matches in the knockout stage, the two teams drew 1-1 at the end of the first leg with Edinson Cavani cancelling Brian Ivanovic’s goal.

When they met at Stamford Bridge for the second leg, goals came in late as Chelsea scored in the 81st minute to possibly send them to the quarters, but David Luiz found the back of the net against his old club to send the match to extra time. PSG found themselves staring elimination after a penalty shot from Eden Hazard gave Chelsea the lead, but Thiago Silva, the man who conceded the penalty, lifted the team with a goal in the 114th.

That goal tied things 2-2 in the game and 3-3 on aggregate, sending PSG to the quarters due to away goals rule.

On the other side, Barcelona were handed another English club in Manchester City. They won the first leg at the Etihad 2-1 behind a brace from Luis Suarez and they wrapped things up in the second leg with a 1-0 win to win the tie 3-1 on aggregate.

Now PSG and Barcelona meet again with only one team moving on to the semis.

Christian Post Report – Bayern Munich’s Bastian Schweinsteiger celebrates a goal against FSV Mainz 05 during the German Bundesliga first division soccer match in Munich September 15, 2012.

On April 15, 2015 at 2:45 p.m. ET, Porto will host Bayern Munich in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal match-up. Their match will be at Estadio Do Dragao in Portugal.

Porto qualified to the knockout stages of the competition after winning Group H. Playing alongside Shakhtar Donetsk, Athletic Club and BATE, the Portuguese club showed they were clearly better than their rivals as they were the only team not to taste defeat in the group.

And in the round-of-16, they were tasked to battle Basel, with the first leg of their tie to be played at St. Jakob-Park.

The visitors were tested early in the match, with a goal from Basel in the 11th minute in which they responded with a penalty conversion by Danilo in the 79th minute to end the game 1-1.

When the time turned for Porto to host, they showed their domination as they controlled the entire match. Yacine Brahimi scored in the 14th minute of the game and Porto went on to score three more in the second half to completely blow the tie open and eventually win 5-1 on aggregate.

Now they will face a European powerhouse who are looking to win the title again.

The 2012-13 champions Bayern Munich look to add another chapter in their illustrious European run with a sixth title.

They showed their strength early in the competition, winning Group E by winning five of a possible six matches. Their only loss was against Manchester City when their place in the knockout stages has already been assured.

Bayern continued their dominance in the round-of-16 when they faced Shakhtar.

The first leg of that round ended in a 0-0 draw which questioned whether this was going to be another lost year for Munich. They responded well by beating their opponents 7-0 in the return leg at the Allianz-Arena to book their place in the quarters.

If that performance was any indication, then Porto have their work definitely cut out for them.

‘Bringing Up Bates’ Stars Welcome New Child to the Family

Alyssa Bates and husband John Webster hold daughter Allie Jane.

Christian Post Report – The Bates family, of UPtv’s hit series “Bringing Up Bates,” welcomed a new member to the family on Saturday, with the birth of their second grandchild.

Alyssa (Bates) and husband John Webster welcomed their first child, daughter Allie Jane, on Saturday, April 11. The entire family was thrilled to meet Allie and bring her into the large family, where she will have 18 aunts and uncles on her mother’s side alone.

“We are so excited to welcome our healthy, beautiful baby girl Allie Jane into the world,” Alyssa and John said in a statement. “We are ecstatic and grateful to receive this precious gift. We know she will be showered with lots of love from her grandparents and her aunts and uncles.”

The Bates family, with Gil and Kelly Jo, the parents of 19 children and now two grandchildren, became an instant hit on UPtv. The show is often compared to “19 Kids and Counting,” which features the Duggar family. Both families are larger-than-life and maintain their religious ideals while dealing with life and raising their children. “Bringing Up Bates” is now UPtv’s highest-rated show and will return for a second season in June.

“We are truly overjoyed as we welcome our first granddaughter, Allie Jane, into the world and into our family,” Gil and Kelly Jo said. “She’s stolen our grandparent’s hearts already! We are beyond blessed and our hearts are full.”

Alyssa and John married in Tennessee but moved to Florida, where John works at his family’s air-conditioning business. The move took Alyssa some distance from her family, and it is always a joy for the Bates family when they come for a visit, which will surely happen more frequently now that Allie Jane has arrived.

The Bates family is still expecting one more grandchild. Daughter Erin and her husband Chad are expecting their first child after several miscarriages. The couple is due in June.

The birth of baby Allie will be featured on the new season of “Bringing Up Bates,” which premieres June 4 on UPtv.

Christian Post Report – Vancouver Canucks vs San Jose Sharks

The Vancouver Canucks host the Calgary Flames at Rodgers Arena in the first game of their NHL Playoff series. The game will be played on April 15, 2015 and the puck will drop at 10 p.m. ET.

Vancouver secured home advantage by finishing second in the highly competitive Pacific Division in the Western Conference. They finished behind the Anaheim Ducks only by eight points and won three straight to close out the regular season.

Meanwhile, the Flames had to battle the defending champions Los Angeles Kings who were chasing them for the final spot. They managed the pressure well by winning three of their last four matches of the season to end up third and beating the Kings by two points. Now they are set to face the Canucks, who are looking to beat the Flames for the first time in three straight tries.

These two rivals have met four times in the regular season, with Vancouver winning the first two. The first meeting was in Calgary, but the Canucks were the ones who stole the show.

Alexandre Burrows opened the scoring, with Zach Kassian and Radim Vrbata also finding the net for Vancouver to nullify Paul Byron’s goal. Henrik Sedin finished things off with a goal late in the third period to complete the victory.

In the next meeting, they needed overtime to win in Vancouver, with Yannick Weber and Vrbata scoring early in the game but only to be leveled by David Jones and Johnny Gaudreau. Chris Tanev gave the Canucks the extra point in just 18 seconds of the overtime period.

Calgary finally notched a win against Vancouver in their third meeting as Mikael Backlund scored the match’s only goal early in the first period to give the visitors two points. They would eventually extend that streak over the Canucks to two with a 3-2 victory as Lance Bouma’s goal in the third period proved to be the winner in front of their fans at Scotiabank Saddledome.

Christian Post Report – Chicago Blackhawks’ Jonathan Toews congratulates goalie Corey Crawford after their team defeated the Los Angeles Kings in Game 2 of their NHL Western Conference final hockey playoffs in Chicago, Illinois, June 2, 2013.

It’s playoff time in the NHL, and the Chicago Blackhawks will begin their post-season with a series against the Nashville Predators in the Western Conference. The match is on April 15, 2015 at 8:30 p.m. ET and will be played at Bridgestone Arena.

Central division rivals, Chicago and Nashville were only separated by two points at the end of the regular season. The Blackhawks had multiple chances to finish higher in the standings as Nashville failed to win in their last six matches.

However, the Blackhawks struggled as well. They lost their last four matches including against Central rivals St. Louis Blues, Minnesota Wild and the Colorado Avalanche.

Chicago’s last win was against the Buffalo Sabres in a match that saw them take an early lead but only find themselves trailing in the closing stages of the game but mounting an impressive comeback.

Duncan Keith and Patrick Sharp scored within the first 10 minutes of the match to give the Blackhawks the lead. However, the Sabres responded by three straight goals to lead 3-2 with only seven minutes remaining. It took a heroic effort from Jonathan Toews to score two goals in the last two minutes of the game to give Chicago the victory.

Meanwhile, the Predators last victory was against the Washington Capitals.

They dominated the game early with goals from Mattias Ekholm, Mike Fisher and Filip Forsberg. However, they allowed Washington to come back to cut the lead to one goal before Mike Ribeiro eventually finished the game off.

As far as head-to-head battles are concerned, Chicago have won three of their four meetings in the regular season.

Having met twice at Bridgestone Arena, Nashville won their first home game 3-2, with James Neal securing a hat trick to beat the visitors. Chicago had their reply in the next game in Tennessee as they dominated the Predators 3-1 with Marian Hossa scoring two goals for the Blackhawks.

‘The Real Housewives of New York’: Bethenny Frankel Says She’s ‘In A Really Good Place’

Bethenny Frankel Instagram/ bethennyfrankel

Christian Post Report – Bethenny Frankel poses with her new book

Bethenny Frankel has been through a lot these past few years. The “Real Housewives of New York” star has survived the cancellation of her talk show, and she’s still dealing with her ongoing divorce to ex-husband Jason Hoppy.

But the 44-year old has bounced back as she’s currently promoting her new book, “I Suck at Relationships So You Don’t Have To” and moreover, she made her much-awaited return on the current season of “The Real Housewives of New York.” The first episode of season seven, which aired last week, showed Frankel looking for a new apartment and having a meltdown while she bemoans the fact that she doesn’t have a home after leaving the place she shared with Hoppy.

However, the reality star told E! News that she’s far from being miserable and things are “pretty good” right now.

“I’m just in a really good place right now,” she told E! News. “I feel happy. I feel good about what I’m doing. I’m excited to be on a book tour, I’m excited to be on the show.”

Frankel revealed that the one thing that worries her about her split with Hoppy is how it will affect their daughter, Bryn.

“In any breakup, the most important thing is thinking about the fact that there’s an innocent victim who just needs to be loved completely and respected and you just have to think about the ramifications of your decisions,” said Frankel.

Despite the fact that she and her ex parted ways in a less than amicable way, Frankel said that she hasn’t stopped looking for love.

“I do believe in love and I’m totally keeping my options open and I’ve met incredible men. Bad apples don’t spoil the whole bunch. I’m not bitter, I love meeting new people,” she revealed.

“The Real Housewives of New York” airs on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on Bravo.

Microsoft Providing ‘Energy Saving’ for Xbox One Consoles at Startup

Xbox One (Photo: Reuters)

Christian Post Report – Xbox One Console

In a bid to help users lower their electric bills, Microsoft has added an “Energy Saving” Mode to their Xbox One consoles during startup mode.

Just a few months after the Natural Resources Defense Council criticized Microsoft for their Xbox One console’s “Instant On” mode they deemed an energy waster, the American multinational has made an effort to save gamers around the world an estimated $250 in electric bills by adding an “Energy Saving” mode to their consoles.

The new add-on gives users the option to use less electricity upon startup, saving them up to $6 to $15 a year, depending on their console usage.

The Xbox One console’s original set-up had no option for users other than the “Instant On” mode, allowing the console to download game and app updates automatically even when not in use. Consoles also turn on instantly with the voice command, “Xbox On.”

While players may appreciate the convenience of the “Instant On,” the main disadvantage had the console using generous amounts of electricity despite being on “sleep” mode, drawing power continuously around-the-clock while waiting for the user to activate the unit using voice command, or via the usual “On” button.

With the new power option, users can deactivate their console’s “Instant On” mode and use the more power efficient shut-down system from their Xbox One’s “Power and Startup” under the Settings menu.

This new option will be available for users who are setting up their new consoles for the first time.

According to a statement made on their blog, Microsoft said the continuous upgrades to the console’s operating system have reduced the power consumption used up by “Instant On” by as much as 33 percent since the Xbox One was first made available to the public in November 2013.

While the company believes the “Instant On” mode can offer the best gaming experience and convenience for Xbox One owners, they also recognize the importance of giving users a choice over their power consumption.

It also added that owners of existing Xbox One consoles can also configure their units for the energy savings option under “Power and Startup” in Settings to find the relevant option to toggle “Energy Saving” mode on or off.

‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’: Kyle Richards Reaches Out to Sister Kim on National Siblings Day

Kyle Richards Instagram/ @kylerichards18

Christian Post Report – Kyle Richards (right) with siblings Kim Richards (center) and Kathy Hilton

As their family feud continues on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” Kyle Richards made an attempt to smooth things over with her sister Kim in honor of National Siblings Day.

Kyle took to Instagram last week to post a photo of herself with Kim and her other sister, Kathy Hilton and captioned the shot, “#NationalSiblingsDay these are my siblings @kathyhilton & @kimrichards11 #sisters no matter what…”

Fans of their hit Bravo show know that Kim and Kyle haven’t exactly been getting along this season as Kim, a former alcoholic, was accused of falling out of the wagon, and she feels that her sister didn’t defend her from the accusations. Moreover, Kim’s pit bull bit Kyle’s daughter, Alexia, 18, at her home on Halloween.

During last week’s reunion show, the two revealed that they haven’t spoken in months. In her blog, Kyle reveals that “this is the worst our relationship has ever been.”

Kyle said that Kim’s comment about being happy with the way things are in their relationship was hurtful.

“I’m the first to say that my sister’s and my relationship has obviously had its ups and downs, but this has by far been the worst place our relationship has ever been in,” she wrote.

Kyle said that it was partly Brandi Glanville’s doing why she and her sister have grown apart.

“Brandi seems to enjoy the downfall of Kim’s and my relationship. Like she succeeded somehow,” she continued. “I have seen how Brandi has tried to turn her against me. If she sincerely cared about Kim, instead of using her as a prop, she would want her family to be close to her.”

Though Kyle was hoping for her and Kim to resolve things at the reunion show, it appears that a reconciliation isn’t happening soon as the sisters continued to bicker as seen on last week’s show.

“Usually at the reunion, you hope to be able to have some resolution at the end. Clearly that wasn’t happening with us,” Kyle added.
