The San Jose Sharks visit the Staples Center in their last game of the year to face the Los Angeles Kings in the NHL on Saturday afternoon. The game will start at 3 p.m. ET and can be watched online through live stream (details below).

Both teams are not going to be playing in the post-season but will want to end their campaigns with a victory so expect an intense clash.

Los Angeles, the defending champions, had a chance to clinch a playoff spot, or at least a Wild Card place, but have dropped their last three games to leave them out of the post season race.

They have also only won two of their last seven games to only earn five points down the stretch when they needed the points.

Against the Calgary Flames, they were given a chance to make it to the playoffs with a win against their rivals for the final Pacific Division spot but Los Angeles barely challenged the Flames

Two goals in the first period set the pace for Calgary as they would go on to win 3-1 and secure their spot in the post-season.

Now the Kings have one task remaining, the Sharks, before going on to summer and regroup to mount a comeback..

Meanwhile, San Jose have had a season to forget. They are currently fifth in the Pacific Division and are also out of the playoff race.

San Jose recently broke their two-game losing streak with a 3-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers. They were down 1-0 at the end of the second period, but three goals in the final 10 minutes of the match helped them complete the comeback and get the win.

Now they are looking to end the season on a positive note with a win over the champions.

These two teams have met four times this season, alternating wins to set up this intriguing series decider. Both teams have won at home and away to show just how evenly matched they are

Christian Post Report – Cristiano Ronaldo, who received criticisms after Real Madrid’s loss to Atletico Madrid, still gets the trust of Coach Carlo Ancelotti as he looks to repeat his hat trick-highlighted performance against Deportivo in the first round.

Real Madrid look to extend their winning streak to three games as they host Eibar at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in the Spanish La Liga on Saturday. The game will kick off at 10 a.m. ET and can be watched online through live stream (details below).

Madrid are currently second in the La Liga, four points behind leaders Barcelona with only a handful of games remaining in their season.

Following their 2-1 loss to the Catalan team, Madrid responded with a big 9-1 thrashing of Granada.

In that home win, Cristiano Ronaldo scored five goals to dominate the game and show that he is still arguably the best player in the world.

After four days, they traveled to meet Rayo Vallecano and Ronaldo scored in the 68th minute to give Madrid the lead.

James Rodriguez then went on to double the advantage in the 73rd minute to secure the victory and take home three points.

Rodriguez increased his goal tally to nine this season, while Ronaldo has 37 goals in only 27 appearances in the league.

Meanwhile, Eibar are sitting in 14th place in the league and are trying to avoid dropping to the relegation zone.

They recently broke their 11 game winless run with a 1-0 over Malaga.

Prior to the victory, Eibar only managed to get two points from that stretch of 11 games with draws against Cordoba and Granada.

Even worse is that they have had difficulty scoring goals as they have only five goals in that time frame.

With only a few games left in their schedule, they will need to rack up points as they are only six points away from being dropped to the second division next year.

In their first meeting earlier in the season, Madrid dominated the game and got goals from Rodriguez, Ronaldo, and Karim Benzema.

Madrid dominated the possession as they held the ball 58% of the time, squeezing out 10 shots with three on target.

Justin Verlander Injury Latest News 2015: Verlander on Disabled List After Spring Training Injury

Christian Post Report – For the first time in his professional career, Justin Verlander has been placed on the disabled list. Verlander strained his triceps in his final Sprint Training start. The Detroit Tigers were hopeful he would be healthy enough to pitch on April 12, but that was not to be. He will be eligible to return April 13.

To replace his spot on the roster, the Tigers will turn to left hander Kyle Lobstein, who never really had a shot to make the big league roster and was assigned to the Triple A Toledo Mud Hens. Lobstein will make the start on April 12 against the Cleveland Indians. Lobstein spent 2014 in Toledo recording a record of 9-11with a 4.07 ERA and 1.479 WHIP.

“It’s disappointing,” Verlander told Mlive.com. “Obviously, everything I’m doing was to try to get ready for Sunday. The days just kind of stack up. I needed to be able to pitch on Tuesday to be able to do that. I just wasn’t ready.”

Now the Tigers have to find a way to get Verlander back into the rotations once he is 100 percent. They will have run through their starting five (four) once this Friday when Alfredo Simon takes the mound in Cleveland. That would leave David Price tentatively set to start Saturday with Lobstein set to go Sunday. The next series is a three-day affair in Pittsburgh.

Tigers’ manager Brad Ausmus said “I can’t tell you where we’re going to slot him in. After Sunday, we can kinda slot him in wherever we want, based on where he is physically and how he feels.”

Christian Post Report – The Washington Nationals finished the season with a 96-66 record. They won their division and made the playoffs eventually losing in the NLDS 3-1 to the eventual World Series champion San Francisco Giants. They have won their division twice in the last four seasons, and they spent their off season adding firepower and fixing those areas where they were the weakest.

The Nationals are in win now mode, but their GM has balanced his approach to not sell out the future

Over the last few seasons the Nationals have traded away a ton of young pitching talent. After landing the big prize of Max Scherzer this off season and dealing for Doug Fister last off season, the Nats did not trade away any young arms this winter. They added to what they already had, and that kind of balance is the hardest thing to achieve in sports — the needs of today versus the needs of tomorrow.

The Nationals feature one of the best starting rotations in baseball right now. They have also assembled one of the most complete lineups as well. The only real concern there is health. Already Jason Werth, Denard Span, and Anthony Rendon have hit the disabled list, but the Nats are finding ways to fill those holes and when this roster gets healthy it will be tough to beat.

The have also put themselves into a position where they can trade Jordan Zimmerman (as it appears that will not be able to extend him) and possibly even the declining Fister to address their needs that will get exposed during the first months of the season.

General Manger Mike Rizzo has built a win-now roster and avoided one that will fall apart as it ages. It is balanced fairly well and the creative way with which he has signed up the best pitcher in baseball the past two years will allow him to continually add talent. The payroll is around $160 million, which is in the upper third of the MLB, but even with the addition of Scherzer, he spread out the payroll hit enough in each year that the future of the team is not handcuffed.

Christian Post Report – The Arizona Diamondbacks were 64-98 in 2014 after finishing with a 81-81 record the two season prior. They hired Tony La Russa to be their Chief Baseball Officer and have now entered a rebuilding project. Manager Kirk Gibson and his staff were replaced, and now LaRussa and new General Manager Dave Stewart have gone about rebuilding their roster. They feel like they are close to contending, and have been very active this off season.

The Arizona Diamondbacks just signed a big time local TV deal

Chip Hale is the new manager, and he came over from the Oakland Athletics. This is his first MLB managerial job. He faces an interesting challenge in Arizona. The Diamondbacks were a last-place club but his front office expects the team to finish with a winning record and possible even contend for the division sooner rather than later.

The Diamondbacks have a plan and the went about their off season work shedding themselves of contracts that felt were not making the team better on the field. They took those saving and reinvested them in talent. Most notable the team signed Cuban slugger Yasmany Tomas to a six year $68.5 million deal. However, the is an opt out clause in the deal after year four. Many expected the 24-year-old to fetch a $100 million deal so the Diamondbacks might have gotten him for a bargain.

The Diamondbacks also signed a Cuban pitcher right handed Yoan Lopez to a deal with a $8.25 million signing bonus. That outlay put the D’Backs over the allotted pool space given each MLB team to sign international players and they now not be allowed to sign an international player for more than $300,000 for the next two signing periods. That is a big risk but all indications are Lopez has MLB skills. Due to MLB rules he had to sign a minor league deal and after being with the team during Spring Training will begin his development in America in the low minors.

NASCAR 2015 News: All-Star Race Changes Announced – More Laps Added

Christian Post Report – NASCAR has announced changes to its All-Star race, which is an annual event held each May at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. This will be the 31st installment of the Sprint All Star race and its format has been altered significantly.

NASCAR has announced rules and format changes for its annual All Star Race

The race will now be a 110-lap affair. The first four segments will be 25 laps a piece and the final leg will be a 10 lap shootout. The race will feature a minimum of 20 drivers. 17 of those drivers are now set, with two spots being reserved for winner of the Sprint Showdown segment, a race that is held directly before the All-Star race, and a final fan vote will set the field.

Race winners from the 2014-15 Sprint Cup series are eligible for the race as long as all past NASCAR Sprint Cup Champions and previous winners of the All Star race itself. This is a slight change in the rules as previous races had been run with drivers accomplishing those things in the past 10 years.

As it stands right now AJ Allmendinger, Aric Almirola, Kurt Busch, Kyle Busch, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Carl Edwards, Jeff Gordon, Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick, Jimmie Johnson, Kasey Kahne, Matt Kenseth, Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano, Jamie McMurray, Ryan Newman, and Tony Stewart are eligible for the race.

This is a non-points event with the winner to earn a prize of $1 million dollars. Over the years it has featured some of the best racing on the Sprint Cup circuit as drivers put their cars in situations that would not normally do while racing for points.

In a statement, NASCAR Executive Vice President Steve O’Donnell talked about the changes.

“These updates were made to ensure that our fans have every opportunity to see the best drivers in one of our crown jewel events and give them even more on-track action,” he said. “Expanding this field and adding laps delivers that to our fans, raising the competition level and ensuring that this race continues to be the biggest all-star event in all of sports.”

Rick Porcello just got paid. Following an off-season trade to the Boston Red Sox and a year away from hitting the open market Porcello signed a four-year $82.5 million extension that will likely keep him in Boston and may even make him the ace of their staff.

The deal will pay Porcello $20 million per season for the first two years and then $21 million dollars for the last two. It also contains a limited no trade clause where Porcello can block trades to three clubs.

$20 million a season may be a lot to pay for Porcello, and the Red Sox have gambled big on their off season acquisition. They are betting he takes the next step in his development. In Detroit Porcello was a back-of-the-rotation starter with decent stuff. At 26-years-old he is entering his sixth full season in the major leagues but he has never shown that he has Ace stuff. He does induce a lot of ground ball, and that will serve him well in Fenway Park, but he is still somewhat unproven.

In Detroit he pitched behind some of the greatest arms of this generation. He has yet to earn an All-Star nod, a single vote for a Cy Young, and has only pitched more than 200 innings once. While he does have a lot of upside, he goes from being another rotation guy with the Tigers to being the guy with the Red Sox.

Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald sums up Porcello as a young player who fits the Red Sox roster, not necessarily a superstar on his own.

“Porcello’s youth is the main draw, but that youthful resume does not contain a surplus of markers that signal greatness,” he wrote. “There are some tantalizing hints that the right-hander will see his best years in the near future, and the chief reasons stem from his age. One reason why the Red Sox have faith in Porcello is that the ballclub believes its infield defense is superior to the one that he had behind him in Detroit.”

Now the Red Sox have to hope that Porcello take a giant step in his development so their bet on him can pay off.

Christian Post Report – A YouTube user has created a “Grand Theft Auto V” video using the recently released trailer for the latest James Bond installment, “Spectre.”

Fans of 007 and the GTA games series were treated to a video created by Joris Prudhon, a YouTube user who put the “Grand Theft Auto V” treatment on the upcoming James Bond offering, “Spectre.”

Prudhon launched himself into fame last year when he recreated the “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” trailer and gave it a “Grand Theft Auto V” spin. That version has since gathered over 700,000 views on YouTube.

The ring showing Spectre’s logo featured on the original trailer also makes an appearance in the video, and while the analogs weren’t rendered as perfectly, the meeting with Christoph Waltz’s character is included, even if Prudhon didn’t quite make the setting details clear.

The video remains relatively faithful to the “Spectre” trailer, however. The 3D version of Daniel Craig, who plays James Bond, is a fairly accurate rendering, along with a fizzy-haired version of Naomie Harris. Even the iconic and climactic James Bond soundtrack is thrown in at the end for good measure.

Recreating parodies of trailers was made possible by a number of complex tools present in “GTA IV,” giving creative players a venue to produce their own intricate videos. The Spectre-GTA V version is not the first in this genre, parody versions of E3 and the “Need for Speed” trailers have already been created and have their own following on YouTube.

Console players without “Rockstar” movie maker tools at their disposal may make do with multiplayer positional tracking and painstaking manual camera edits. One such example is the aqueduct chase sequence in the recreated “Terminator 2.”

Fans of these types of remakes should soon expect a rendering of “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” trailer, and even the complex “Terminator: Genisys” recreation in GTA V, courtesy of the gaming community.

Deadpool Movie Release Date, Plot News: Ed Skrein Signs On to Play Villain Ajax

Christian Post Report – Ed Skrein has just signed on to play the villain Ajax in “Deadpool,” which also stars Ryan Reynolds in the titular role.

“Game of Thrones'” original Daario Naharis actor, Ed Skrein has just been confirmed to play the villainous Ajax in the Marvel Comics movie adaptation of “Deadpool.”

Skrein took to his Twitter account Tuesday and posted a photo of Ajax’s movie chair, captioning it “#deadpool #ajax That’s all!!!”

His character, Ajax plays one of the movie bad guys responsible for turning Ryan Reynold’s Wade Wilson character into Deadpool for the Weapon X program. Ajax, being part of the same program, received genetic enhancements to boost his speed and strength, as well as the ability to feel no pain.

Ajax’s character begins as a man known only by one name, Francis, who is one of the enforcers in the medical facility where the Weapon X program is held in progress. Francis has his nerves removed, deadening his ability to feel pain and other sensations, and begins his reign as a bully among the program washouts, which include Wade Wilson.

When Ajax attempts to kill Wilson after a Weapon X surgery failure, Wilson defends himself and “kills” Francis instead. However, Francis soon reappears having taken on the identity of Ajax, and starts seeking out and murdering all the former subjects of the Weapon X program.

Based on the comic books, Ajax and Deadpool get into several seriously bloody fights, which will presumably be carried over into the movie, hence Reynolds’ persistent lobbying to get “Deadpool” an R-rating.

Skrein, 32, has recently wrapped up filming “The Transporter: Refueled,” a prequel of the “Transporter” franchise where he plays a younger Frank Martin, a role previously made famous by Jason Statham. Being cast in “Transporter” was one of Skrein’s reasons for leaving his “Game of Thrones” Daario Naharis role in season four, which was subsequently taken over by Michiel Huisman.

“Deadpool” will also star Morena Baccarin, Gina Carano, and T.J. Miller and is scheduled to premiere in theaters on February 16, 2016.

Christian Post Report – Rumors have emerged “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” may introduce audiences to iconic villain, Red Hood.

“Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” will be showing in theaters on March 25, 2016, and fans of the Justice League characters from the DC Comics universe are speculating whether DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. plans to bring in iconic bad guy, Red Hood.

Producers didn’t intend the film to be a standalone, and audiences should expect an addition of villains to the franchise, which may include Red Hood, who may make his entrance in “Batman v Superman” when the film opens next year.

A report in Screen Rant reveals Red Hood is actually the identity of Jason Todd, whom Batman took in to replace Dick Grayson as Robin after the latter left the fold. Todd is supposedly killed by The Joker, but survives to exact his revenge, particularly after learning Batman did nothing to avenge him.

Red Hood, the newly emerged anti-hero, is similar to Batman in a number of ways, except for his penchant for violence and brutality.

According to Latino Review, “Batman v Superman” will be addressing the murder of Jason Todd, and that Red Hood will become a prominent villain in the movie, as well as in other upcoming DC films. The online publication even shared an Instagram post showing Jason Todd’s uniform displayed in a place of prominence in the Batcave.

In another storyline parallel from “Suicide Squad,” The Joker and Harley Quinn are reported to be estranged due to the latter’s guilt over Todd’s death, making Red Hood appear to be a priority for DC.

Another rumor involves actress Jenna Malone who is said to be playing Ben Affleck’s Batman sidekick in the person of Carrie Kelly, who in the comics version, takes on Robin’s identity after Todd’s murder

While these rumors remain unconfirmed, audiences can still expect Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, and Laurence Fishburne as Perry White to reprise their roles in the “Man of Steel” sequel. They will be joined by Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Bruce Wayne’s butler, Alfred Pennyworth, and Jason Momoa as Aquaman.
