Rev. Robert H. Schuller, founder of Crystal Cathedral and “Hour of Power,” passed away at the age of 88 on Thursday, April 2, 2015.

Christian Post Report – Services for Crystal Cathedral founder, the Rev. Robert H. Schuller, will be held in the very iconic sanctuary that his ministry created.

While it’s now under the ownership of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange and named Christ Cathedral, the large southern California church building will be used for the famous televangelist’s funeral.

Carol Schuller-Milner, daughter of the former “Hour of Power” host and head of Crystal Cathedral Ministries, announced the details last weekend.

“A funeral service for Crystal Cathedral founder Robert H. Schuller has been scheduled for 10 a.m. April 20 at the Christ Cathedral in Garden Grove,” noted the Orange County Register.

“The closed casket memorial will end with a procession into the Memorial Gardens where Schuller will be buried next to his wife, Arvella, who died a little over a year ago.”

Christ Cathedral, formerly known as Crystal Cathedral. Since 2012, the Cathedral has been in possession of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange.

In 1951, Schuller and his wife founded the Crystal Cathedral church in Garden Grove, Orange County, California.

In 1970, Schuller started the influential and popular “Hour of Power” religious program, which remains on the air today and is helmed by his grandson.

Ten years later, the pastor started services in his new Crystal Cathedral, an imposing glass and steel sanctuary with approximately 10,000 windows and thousands of regular attendees.

By 2010, however, Schuller’s Crystal Cathedral Ministries found itself deep in debt. The ministry filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, owing over $7 million to creditors.

The Crystal Cathedral building was eventually sold to the Diocese of Orange for $57.5 million, and later renamed the Christ Cathedral in 2012.

Over the last few years, the elder Schullers also became embroiled in legal actions surrounding the level of financial compensation they received from Crystal Cathedral Ministries.

Last week, Schuller died at age 88, at a nursing home in Los Angeles following a battle with cancer that had been diagnosed back in 2013.

Robert Vernon “Bobby” Schuller, grandson of Robert H. Schuller who oversees Shepherd’s Grove, the new name for Crystal Cathedral Ministries, issued a statement last week regarding his grandfather.

“I have the incredible honor of carrying on my grandfather’s legacy by teaching people that they are not what they do, not what they have, and not what people say about them. They are the beloved of God,” reads the statement in part.

“‘The Hour of Power’ team is dedicated to keeping Schuller’s legacy alive by providing our messages, old and new, to those who need to hear them most.”

According to the OC Register, the burial of Schuller will be a private event, however individuals can view the ceremony from the Memorial Garden’s perimeter.

There’s Nothing Like It

So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.
— Romans 12:5

Christian Post Report – When someone loses a loved one, perhaps a grandparent, a parent, a spouse, or even a child, where does that person usually turn? Many people will turn to the church. Even if they aren’t a part of the church, they often will come to the church looking for help. And they find help and solace there.

Greg Laurie, senior pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship in Riverside, California and Harvest Orange County in Irvine, California, shares the Gospel with a sold-out crowd of 19,000 for Harvest America at the American Airlines Center and Victory Park in Dallas, Texas, Oct. 5, 2014.

Think of the ways that God has met your needs through the church over the years. When you needed direction in life, where did you find it? You found it at church. Maybe you were having problems with your kids, so you went to church, where the youth pastor intervened and helped you out.

And where did you find Christ? Chances are that you found the Lord in the church.

Maybe it was in the church where you discovered that you have musical ability. I am amazed at how many professional vocalists today have said they got their start by singing at church.

I met my wife at church. She was there with her two sisters, and I invited them all out for coffee afterward. The church is the best place to meet someone who loves the Lord.

Not only that, but the church is good for you physically. Scientific studies have shown that the blood pressure of people who attend church is lower than those who don’t.

These are not the reasons we should go to church, of course. We should go to church because it’s a place where we can draw closer to God. It’s a place where we can grow spiritually. It’s a place where we can give. And it’s a place where we can receive.

I know the church has its flaws. I know it has its shortcomings. But there is nothing out there like the church. It stands apart.

Miami Heat NBA 2015 News, Rumors: Mario Chalmers Unsure of Role

Mario Chalmers Reuters/File

Christian Post Report – Miami Heat point guard Mario Chalmers

Mario Chalmers is in his seventh season with the Miami Heat, winning two NBA championships in the 2011-12 and 2012-13 season.

Earlier in the season, it appeared that Heat coach Erik Spoelstra was trying to find the perfect fit for the guard, starting him on point and sometimes shooting guard as Chalmers tried to settle in to his role.

The Heat had drafted point guard Shabazz Napier for added depth but ultimately traded off Norris Cole in a three-team trade which involved the New Orleans Pelicans, Phoenix Suns and Heat.

In the trade, the Pelicans acquired Cole, Shawne Williams and Justin Hamilton, the Suns got John Salmons, Danny Granger, Hamilton after his contract was bought out, and two first-round picks from Miami. And finally, the Heat acquired brothers Goran and Zoran Dragic, adding strength in the point guard position, but placing Chalmers’ role in question.

Naturally, Dragic was slotted automatically into the starting role, and star Dwyane Wade is on the number two spot, which leaves Chalmers in a tough position.

With all the change that had taken place, the 6-foot-1 guard has now questioned his role on the team.

“I don’t even really know what my role is on this team anymore,” Chalmers told The Miami Herald. “I don’t know what I’m supposed to be doing.”

His movement from point to shooting guard has been a result of players being injured and him being placed as a temporary solution – a decision that frustrates and baffles him. Chalmers understands the situation and revealed that it isn’t easy.

“A lot of people are out of rhythm, and you really don’t know what’s going to happen — when you’re going to get the ball, when you’re going to shoot it, you just never know. You just got to be ready for everything, I guess,” he continued.

As the Heat continue their push towards the playoffs, it should be interesting how this plays out, and to see what Mario’s future holds in Miami.

Chalmers’ importance to the Heat was evident as when he played his rookie season as a starter at age 22. He played 82 games and was in the starting five every game as he averaged 10.0 points, 4.9 assists and 2.0 steals in 32 minutes per night.

In their first championship run, Chalmers was also a very important factor in the team as he averaged 11.3 points per game while shooting 44 percent from the field.

When they played against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Finals, “Super Mario” was a constant thorn on Russell Westbrook’s side, with the Heat guard using his size and strength to throw off his athletic rival.

And with LeBron James leaving for the Cleveland Cavaliers at the start of the season, many thought that he was one of the players due to step-up as the Heat started to rebuild past the era of the King.

George R.R. Martin Will Have a New Sci-Fi Show on HBO

<b>Christian Post Report</b> – George R.R. Martin” title=”<b>Christian Post Report</b> – George R.R. Martin” name=”jpg” src=”http://images.christianpost.com/full/79245/george-r-r-martin.jpg” class=”imgPhoto” width=”550″ height=”450″ /> <small class=Youtube Screenshot/ file

Christian Post Report – George R.R. Martin

After recently revealing that he did not have time to write any episode of Season 6 of “The Game of Thrones,” Christian Post Report – George R.R. Martin is reportedly developing a new TV series with HBO, this time leaving the world of fantasy and exploring science fiction.

According to a report in The Hollywood Reporter, the writer is working on a potential series entitled “Captain Cosmos.”

“Captain Cosmos” will be set in the late 1940s, and will center on a science fiction writer who was supposedly brave enough to write science fiction stories that “no one else would dare to write.” It was during this same time that TV was only beginning. According to the report, the series is in the early stages of development and it was natural for HBO to work with Martin because of his overall deal with the network.

The arrangements for the upcoming series will be much like that of “The Game of Thrones.” The report says that it will not be Martin who will write the scripts so it will not be “a time-consuming project” for him. This is likely in consideration for the time that he needs to finish his next novel “Winds of Winter.”

The pilot episode will be penned by Michael Cassutt of “Z Nation” on SyFy. No word yet on who will be the executive producers for the new series.

Some reports are not taking this piece of news too lightly, with some of them saying that Martin “has found yet another reason to procrastinate.” According to Paste, HBO is likely banking on the success of Martin’s first foray in TV. Martin’s recent release of the second chapter of the yet to be published “Winds of Winter” novel may well be a tactic to keep his fans at bay while he works on something else.

The next installment to his novel series has been long awaited. The last novel he published in the series was “A Dance with Dragons” in 2011 and most of Season 5 of “The Game of Thrones” is said to be based on it. As he is yet to publish the next novel however, the show’s producers have acknowledged that Season 6 will deviate from the novels.

Kylie Jenner Pregnancy Rumors Swirl, Tyga Continues to Deny Dating Her

Kylie Jenner Instagram/ kylizzle

Christian Post Report – Kylie Jenner posts this picture of her on Instagram wearing a watch given to her by Tyga

Rumors are abuzz once again that one of the Kardashian siblings Kylie is pregnant with rumored boyfriend Tyga’s child. This is not the first time this rumor has come out. Early March, the Internet was alive with speculation that Kylie and Kendall were pregnant. This was debunked by the sisters themselves through announcements on social media.

The pregnancy rumor has sprouted up for Kylie again. This time, there are reports that her sister Kendall Jenner had allegedly tweeted a congratulatory message to Kylie and Tyga with a photo of a pregnancy test, and the message: “I don’t care what anybody says. Congrats @Tyga.” She however allegedly deleted the tweet soon after. The report in Sugarscape, however, says that the existence of that tweet may not be true.

Another magazine article that cited a source close to the Kardashians that said Kylie Jenner was acting strangely during a recent trip to the U.K. – feeling nauseous, barely eating during dinner as well as getting upset after getting phone calls from her mom and one of her sisters. Sugarscape negated the rumors as evidence of pregnancy, though.

Kylie Jenner has yet to speak up about these recent rumors. Her rumored boyfriend, rapper Tyga, remains adamant that he is not dating the 17-year-old, let alone that she is pregnant with his child.

“We’re friends and that’s all I really want to talk about right now,” he told Yahoo! News. Kylie being under 18 could cause legal problems for the rapper.

Other people in Kylie’s circle may not see there’s a problem. Kanye West, husband of Kim Kardashian, admitted during a radio show that Tyga and Kylie were dating. Kendall also seems to consider Tyga as part of the family already, based on her social media posts.

HTC One M8s Specs, Price, Features Review: HTC Releasing a Cheaper Version of the HTC One M8

Christian Post Report – HTC will be releasing a cheaper version of its flagship phone that was earlier released last year, the HTC One M8. Called the HTC One M8s, the phone will be initially available in Europe and there is no word yet on whether it will be available elsewhere.

HTC One M8 Unveiling Picture: (ChristianPost:VincentFunaro)

HTC One M8 Ultrapixel camera.

The new phone comes before the release of its newest flagship phone, the HTC One M9. The One M8s, according to a report in IBNLive, is “basically a refreshed version of the One M8.” One of the improvements made on this model is the processor – it now sports an octa-core Qualcomm Snagdragon 615 with 2GB of RAM. The One M8 had a dual-core processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 also with 2GB of RAM.

Another difference is the phone’s camera. The One M8 had the 4 mega-pixel “Ultra-Pixel” camera but the One M8s now has a 13 mega-pixel camera sensor. It retains a secondary front facing camera as well, with 5MP. Some One M8 users had previously complained about the “Ultra-Pixel” camera performance so some reports are saying that this switch for the better.

A comparison report in Pocket-lint details the main differences and similarities between the two phones. Display-wise, both phones have the same 5-inch 1920 x 1080 pixels display. They also have the same design: a full metal unibody in the same color variants – gunmetal grey, silver and gold. The One M8s however is slightly thicker (by 20 mm) and longer (by 5 mm) than its predecessor.

There is a slight upgrade in the battery capacity, from the 2600mAh to what is now 2840mAh on the One M8s. In terms of software, the new phone will run on Lollipop 5.0 on HTC’s proprietary Sense 6.0. The One M8 was launched with KitKat but eventually got the Lollipop update, so the report says they should have the same functions.

The most important difference is the price. The One M8 debuted with a price tag of £579 in 2014 and right now is still listed closer to £500. The One M8s is reported to be launching at £379 but it is not yet known where it will be available aside from the European markets. No definite release date has been given as well.

Christian Post Report – New York Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist (30) celebrates defeating the Washington Capitals with team mates Anton Stralman (6) and Derek Stepan (21) during Game 7 of their NHL Eastern Conference quarterfinal playoff hockey game in Washington May 13, 2013.

Metropolitan Division rivals will meet for the last time this season as the New Jersey Devils host the New York Rangers at the Prudential Center. The match is on April 7, 2015 at 7 p.m. ET.

New Jersey is currently seventh in the division with 77 points and have had a bad spell in their last eight games. In that stretch, the Devils only managed to win once, while only collecting two points in the other seven matches.

Their lone win was a 3-2 penalty shootout victory over the Montreal Canadiens at home.

Despite holding a 1-0 lead after 10 minutes, the Devils surrendered two quick goals to go down 2-1 at the end of the first period. Reid Boucher’s snap shot in the second period leveled things before needing a shootout to secure the extra point.

However, their win was quickly dispelled when they faced the Rangers at the Madison Square Garden.

New York were riding a two-game win streak before their match against the Devils and have won 10 of their last 14 prior to the division match.

And upon the drop of the puck, it was evident that the Rangers were the better team. They quickly got to out to a 3-0 lead at the end of the first period behind goals from Rick Nash, Keith Yandle and Dominic Moore. Things would go from bad to worse for the Devils as Derek Stepan added to the lead in the second period before Derick Brassard and Moore netted in the third to complete the route. Only Tuomo Ruutu’s consolation goal prevented the clean sweep, but the domination was apparent.

That win was New York’s third win over New Jersey this season, and they will look to complete the season series sweep at the Prudential Center.

“My #ManCrushEveryday you know what it is … We went wrong somewhere and even if we never ever get back together (Even tho I pray, dream and hope we do) he will forever be the love of my life,” she captioned the picture. “The media doesn’t make it easy … we gotta live for reality and not society. We forever have a bond because we made a beautiful baby from our Love. Through all my ups and downs of our relationship my heart still beats for him every single day.”

The model also said that she’s tired of pretending to be happy when in truth, she’s not.

“He makes me happy,” she wrote. “He’s the only one who can.”

After she filed for divorce, Rose alluded to the fact that Khalifa was not faithful to her. The two have been at odds over custody of son Sebastian, 2, but it appears as though there might be a chance that things could work out between the two of them.

According to TMZ, Khalifa asked Rose to listen to his new song on the “Furious 7” soundtrack, which had the lyrics, “How could we not talk about family when family’s all that we got? Everything I went through you were standing there by my side, and now you gonna be with me for the last ride.”

The website reports that the model was touched by her ex-husband’s song. It is unknown whether the rapper has responded to Rose’s Instagram post.

The Lakers are laboring their way to end this season as they sit near the bottom of the Western Conference with a 20-56 record. They have lost three straight games and five of their last six in total.

Jordan Clarkson has been one of the few bright lights for the team, with the rookie averaging 11 points per game while starting in 33 of the 54 he has played. On the other hand, the Clippers are enjoying their season as they have already secured a playoff spot and sit fifth in the league with a 0.5 game lead over the defending champions San Antonio Spurs. They have won three straight games and 10 of their last 11.

One of the best offensive teams in the league, the Clippers have also scored more than 100 points in their last 10 games.

Brother of Christian Lawyer Defending Family of Two Gang Raped Pakistani Girls Shot by Muslim After Refusing Court Compromise

  • Pervaiz Gill
    (Photo: British Pakistani Christian Association)
The brother of human lawyer Mushtaq Gill, Pervaiz Gill, is recovering in a hospital bed after being shot after refusing to agree on a court settlement with Muslim men.

The brother of a Pakistani human rights lawyer who is defending the family of two teen Christian girls, who were gang raped in the middle of the night last December by five Muslim men, was shot by an enraged Muslim after consistently refusing to settle on a court-avoiding legal compromise.

Pervaiz Gill, the brother of attorney Sadar Mushtaq Gill, was shot in the back last Wednesday in Kasur after declining multiple times to agree on a legal settlement in the court case brought forth by the Christian teens’ father, Ilyas Masih, the British Pakistani Christian Association reported.

Masih is seeking justice for his two daughters, Sherish and Farzana, who were abducted from outside their home last Dec. 3 and were gang raped by a group of Muslim men. The two girls were found lying unconscious the next morning along the roadside several miles away from their home village of Jaranwala.

“The fight for justice and against inequality will be continued and our campaign against the violation of human rights and for religious liberty shall not be discouraged by such perpetrators and their actions,” Mushtaq Gill told the BPCA, the humanitarian agency that houses the two girls.

After one of the five Muslim men accused of the rape, Muhammad Azeem, was granted release from prison on bail, he gathered the support of local drug dealers to go confront and try to intimidate Pervaiz Gill into accepting a legal settlement on his brother’s behalf.

Gill rejected the settlement attempt and told the group of Muslim men that he had no authority in the court case because that was a matter for his brother to handle. Later, he was approached again by the men when they demanded that he accept the compromise. Again, Gill refused and explained that only the plaintiff can agree on a settlement and drop the case.

On April 1, Gill was on his way home when he was stopped by another Muslim drug dealer in the town, Muhammad Bilal, who threatened him and his brother if he did not accept a settlement. About an hour later, Bilal’s father went to Gill’s house to apologize for his son’s behavior and threats and also pushed for Gill to come to the house to work on a settlement. After the father demanded, Gill reluctantly accepted the invite to the house after being pressured by his neighbors.

As Gill and the father approached Bilal’s house, Bilal shouted at Gill saying, “How dare you Christians not act on the order for a compromise of the gang-rape case.” The BPCA report added that Bilal then pointed his gun at Gill and said: “Run to save your life now!” Bilal fired his gun and nailed Gill in the lower back.

Gill was rushed to the nearby civil hospital, where he was refused admittance but was referred to another hospital, where he was accepted and treated. Although he was nearly killed by the bullet, Gill escaped with a non-life threatening bullet wound.

“This latest attack has shattered any remaining confidence the family held that justice would be done,” BPCA Chairman Wilson Chowdhry said in a statement. “It seems that Muslim men do not fear Christian lawyers and they believe violent conduct can be undertaken with impunity. Even then Ilyas Masih and Mushtaq Gill have vowed to continue the fight for justice. I hope Pakistani authorities reward this bravery and sentence the culprits, but my confidence in Pakistan’s legal system has waned to its lowest ebb.”

This is not the first time that Muslim men have threatened and shot at those involved with the Masih court case. On Feb. 10, two men on motorcycles, who claimed to be relatives of the men involved in the raping, stopped in front of the home that Sherish and Farzana were living in and yelled that they deserved to be raped because they were Christian and allegedly opened fire on the house, nearly shooting the teen girls’ brother.

Since the attack, the family of the teen girls and their brother have been removed from their home in Jarnawala due to safety concerns.

“Ilyas Masih and his family have suffered greatly, his two gang-raped daughters are in our care and his sons have gone to live with an aunt, which is not a long term solution,” Chowdhry explained. “Threats to the family are increasing in intensity and also in ferocity as the legal process proceeds through the courts.”
