Christian Post Report – San Antonio Spurs forward Aron Baynes (16) shoots the ball over Oklahoma City Thunder forward Perry Jones (3) and center Steven Adams (right) in game two of the Western Conference Finals of the 2014 NBA Playoffs at AT&T Center.

With the Oklahoma City Thunder trying to hold on to the eighth spot in the Western Conference, they face the defending champions San Antonio Spurs at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in the NBA. The game is on April 7, 2015 and starts at 8 p.m. ET.

Oklahoma City is 42-35 and have a half a game lead over the New Orleans Pelicans in the final playoff seed in the West. However, they have lost three straight games despite the brilliance of MVP-candidate Russell Westbrook.

After a 109-97 win over the Phoenix Suns, the Thunder lost close games to the Dallas Mavericks, Memphis Grizzlies and the Houston Rockets.

In those games, Westbrook averaged 29.7 points per game while securing triple-doubles against the Mavericks and Rockets.

Despite these statistics, the Thunder’s lack of other sources to get points and stops — particularly with the absences of Kevin Durant and Serge Ibaka — have resulted in those defeats. Now with only five games left in their schedule, the Thunder need to string wins over tough teams to stay alive for the post-season.

Meanwhile, the Spurs are starting to peak at the right moment.

They have already secured a playoff spot and are currently sixth in the league with a 51-26 record. More importantly, they have won seven straight games. In those matches, they have beaten tough teams like the Grizzlies, Mavericks and Thunder. Their most impressive performance was in their recent domination of the league-leading Golden State Warriors.

In the 107-92 victory, Kahwi Leonard led the team in scoring with 26 points and had seven steals. They kept Golden State’s shooting below par as the Warriors only shot 32 percent from beyond the three-point line. Furthermore, they out-rebounded the Warriors 47-39 to reinstate their claim as still one of the best teams in the league.

As for their head-to-head battles this season, Oklahoma won their season opener against the Spurs at San Antonio but the Spurs tied the series in dominating fashion with a 130-91 win.

Christian Post Report – Miami Heat’s Dwyane Wade pauses during a break in play against the Dallas Mavericks during Game 3 of the NBA Finals series in Dallas, Texas on June 5, 2011.

As the playoff race continues, the Miami Heat and Charlotte Hornets meet at the American Airlines Arena in the NBA. The match is on April 7, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Currently, the Heat are 10th in the Eastern Conference but only a game behind eighth seed, the Boston Celtics.

Unfortunately, they have lost some ground after losing four straight games

They lost a home game against the San Antonio Spurs before embarking on a three-game road trip against the Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons and Indiana Pacers.

In their most recent loss against the Pacers, the Heat had to contend with an inspired Indiana team who welcomed the return of their star Paul George.

Miami had to play without big men Chris Andersen and Hassan Whiteside while they nurse their respective injuries, but Dwyane Wade carried the scoring load as he finished with 27 points. James Ennis added 17 off the bench while Goran Dragic scored 15, but Miami only shot 10 percent from beyond the three point line.

Meanwhile, Charlotte are only half a game behind the Heat and have alternated wins and losses in their last six games. They beat the Atlanta Hawks, Pistons and the Philadelphia 76ers but lost to the Celtics and Pacers.

Their most recent result was a 92-91 win over the struggling Sixers, with Kemba Walker scoring 24 points as he made-up for the absence of Al Jefferson. Mo Williams also poured in 18 despite only shooting 29 percent from the field.

The Southeastern rivals have met thrice this year, with the home team winning in each game. Charlotte lead the series 2-1, with their last meeting a 78-76 victory behind 15 points from Walker and 12 from Jefferson and Gerald Henderson.

Both teams need this victory if they want to still try to get to the playoffs, to get updates on this game, visit NBA.com. For live streaming, click here.

The Elder Scrolls 6 Release Date News: Coming March 2016 After E3 2015 Reveal

Christian Post Report – If recent rumors are to be believed, Bethesda, the developer and publisher of the “Elder Scrolls” series, has confirmed that they are releasing the next installment of the series called “Elder Scrolls VI: Argonia” sometime in March 2016.

According to a report in Master Herald, an alleged leak from Bethesda itself says that the game is set to be released in March 2016.

The Elder Scrolls 6: Argonia

The sixth installment “will likely roll out to the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 during the first quarter of the 2016,” they reported, adding that that there is also a likelihood that the upcoming game will be revealed during the upcoming E3 in June 2015 in Los Angeles.

The Elder Scrolls is a series of action role-playing open world video game developed and published by Bethesda. The first game of the series was released in 1994 and the latest one “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim” was released in 2012. Also in 2012, Bethesda introduced “The Elder Scrolls Online” which brought in multiplayer features, but with a monthly subscription fee, which later became free to play.

The sixth game of the series is among one of the most-awaited games of the year. Prior to the reveal of the game’s title indicating Argonia as the place where it will start, there were several reports about possible areas that the game could cover. One such report in Movie Pilot speculates that it may be Akavir, a brutal land inhabited by four collective but unrelated races.

Other game details that were supposedly shared include a multiplayer mode that will allow players to play with other players, but as a different character from the character that they use in the single player mode. This is apparently similar to the set-up in “The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.”

The game will also supposedly start in the Black Marsh, and then players can travel to other parts of Tamriel such as Morrowind, Hammerfall, Cyrodill and Skyrim.

Science, Skeptics and the Resurrection

Science, Skeptics and the Resurrection

WASHINGTON — Was the resurrection of Jesus Christ an anti-scientific event? This question was discussed at a March 13 conference on science and religion hosted by The American Association for the Advancement of Science’s Dialogue on Science, Ethics and Religion.

Christian Post Report – At the end of a panel on “Science Engagement in Congregations,” an audience member who identified himself as a rabbi said “the elephant in the room has not been discussed,” which he identified as, “that the fundamental basis of Christianity is a violation of nature.”

He began his remarks by recalling another event he attended at a Presbyterian church. An audience member at that event asked one of the panelists, a Presbyterian, about the resurrection. “Do you really believe that?” he asked. The panelist replied, “no, we understand [the resurrection] metaphorically,” the rabbi recalled him saying.

Another panelist then turned to the pastor of the congregation and said, “did you hear that? Your congregant just said he doesn’t believe literally in the resurrection of Jesus.” To which the minister replied, “where do you think he learned it from?”

Only $5 Paid So Far to Kenyan Security Officers Who Killed al-Shabaab Terrorists; Expert Blames ‘Systematic State Failure’ in Gov’t for Garissa Attack

kenya garissa (Photo: Reuters/Noor Khamis)

Kenya Administration policemen stand in front of Garissa University College in Garissa April 4, 2015. The death toll in an assault by Somali militants on Garissa University College is likely to climb above 147, a government source and media said on Friday, as anger grew among local residents over what they say as a government failure to prevent bloodshed.

Christian Post Report – Kenya’s government is facing increasing criticism for failing to read warning signs and for a systematic state failure that led to the massacre at Garissa University College in Kenya, where 148 people, mostly Christian students, were murdered last week. The security officers who shot down the four terrorists carrying out the killings, have, meanwhile, expressed dissatisfaction at the lack of pay, and have reportedly recieved so far only the equivelent of $5 USD.

“There is no sure-fire prevention against terrorist attacks,” Horn of Africa analyst Abdullahi Boru Halakhe, an academic and expert on the region, told AFP.

“But the scale of the Garissa attack, the prior warning and the regularity with which these attacks have been occurring, points to systemic state failure – and the buck stops with the president.”

Christians in Kenya and around the world have been mourning the terror attack, where the gunmen separated Christian from Muslim students, before murdering the Christians.

Terror group al-Shabaab has taken responsibility for the attack, and has warned that more is to come.

“No amount of precaution or safety measures will be able to guarantee your safety, thwart another attack or prevent another bloodbath from occurring in your cities,” the group warned.

While government forces have launched air strikes on al-Shabaab bases in neighboring Somalia, other experts, such as journalist Mohammed Adow, a Kenyan and an ethnic Somali who has worked with Al-Jazeera, have blamed the poor living conditions in Kenya for driving some to join the terror group.

“As a result of decades of marginalization, northeastern Kenya – as well as parts of the coastal region – lacks basic services such as paved roads, schools and hospitals,” Adow said following the attack.

“Resentment towards the government is high and radicals are able to exploit these factors. Chronic youth unemployment, for example, makes Al-Shebab’s (sic) promise of some income attractive.”

Jambo News reported that the General Service Unit’s Recce Squad, the security officers who shot down the gunmen 10 hours after the attack began, have also expressed frustration, because they have not been paid their allowances.

The officers reportedly each received only Sh500, or U.S. $5, as lunch allowance, but have not been paid the expected Sh3,000, or U.S. $32, because that is only given when they spend a night out on duty.

Officers have said that they are lacking in job motivation, with the pay not corresponding to the danger the job entails.

Kenyan authorities have also been accused of taking hours to respond to the massacre despite an alarm being sounded, and a police source told CNN that they arrived at the scene in Garissa even after politicians and journalists.

Manoa Esipisu, a spokesman for Kenya’s president and deputy president, defended the response time, however.

“With the benefit of hindsight you can always say things could have been done better,” Esipisu said, and argued that Kenyan authorities saved a lot of students and “got the job done.”

Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta has also vowed that his administration will “respond in the severest ways possible” to the slaughter, and will “fight terrorism to the end.”

The murdered students were remembered in Easter Sunday messages by Christian leaders around the world.

Pope Francis, in his third Easter address since becoming pope, said as part of his speech:

“May constant prayer rise up from all people of goodwill for those who lost their lives – I think in particular of the young people who were killed last Thursday at Garissa University College in Kenya – for all who have been kidnapped, and for those forced to abandon their homes and their dear ones,” the pope said.

Christian Post Report – San Jose Sharks’ Logan Couture (39) reacts after scoring the game-winning goal against Los Angeles Kings in the overtime period during Game 3 of their NHL Western Conference semifinal playoff hockey game in San Jose, California, May 18, 2013.

The San Jose Sharks host the Dallas Stars at SAP Center at San Jose in the regular season of the NHL. To be played on April 6, 2015, the puck drops at 10:30 p.m. ET.

The Sharks have had a rough season so far, they are fifth in the Pacific Division and 10th in the Western Conference. As a result they are set to miss the playoffs this year.

However, they have seemed to pick up the pace at the tail-end of the season, as they have won four of their last six matches and managed to take at least a point from five of their last six.

They beat the Detroit Red Wings and Philadelphia flyers before losing to a shootout against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

However, they would bounce back with dominating performances against the Colorado Avalanche and Arizona Coyotes.

Their streak of points recently ended when they lost 5-3 to the Coyotes in their return match.

Just one point behind the Sharks in the West are the Stars.

They have only two ins in their last five matches and one of their glaring problems is on their defense.

In their last five matches, Dallas have allowed 24 goals, with crushing losses to the Edmonton Oilers (4-0), Calgary Flames (5-3) and St. Louis Blues (7-5). In their two wins against the Vancouver Canucks and Nashville Predators, they needed overtime to win and allowed their opponents to score three goals in each of those games.

This season, these two teams have already met twice, with both resulting in wins for the Sharks.

Both games were played at the American Airlines Center, with San Jose netting five goals in each game while Dallas have five goals combined.

Christian Post Report – San Francisco Giants’ Buster Posey hits a run batted in (RBI) ground out to score Giants’ Marco Scutaro (not pictured) against the Los Angeles Dodgers during the fourth inning of their MLB baseball game in Los Angeles, California October 3, 2012.

The San Francisco Giants will take on the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday in the final game on MLB 2015 Opening Day. The Giants will be favorites, however, Arizona have home field advantage and will be hoping to pull off an upset to start the season with a win. The game is scheduled to start at 10.10 p.m. ET and takes place from Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona. The game can be watched on TV on the ESPN 2 network or online through free live stream (details below).

This will mark the third time in five seasons that the Giants will enter opening day as the reigning World Series champions, and they will look to start their defense of the title with a win.

Taking to the mound for the Giants will be Madison Bumgarner, who will be throwing his first competitive pitches since his memorable performance in Game 7 of the World Series against the Royals way back in October.

For the Diamondbacks, veteran right-hander Josh Collmenter will be thrown the ball as Arizona look to take down the reigning champs.

The MLB 2015 opening season features numerous highlights this year. Many will be looking to Masahiro Tanaka following months of rumors and doubts surrounding his right elbow. The injury landed him on the disabled list last season, and many will want to see how his partially torn ulnar collateral ligament holds up as the season gets going today.

Another big highlight for opening day will be this contest between the San Diego Padres and the Los Angeles Dodgers. The pair will meet each other 19 times this season, including a potential vital three game set, which will close out the season. Matt Kemp in particular will be looking at this game with relish, and even though he has a lot of memories at Chavez Ravine, his time there ended on a bad note, and he will be looking to gain revenge in the only way he knows how – by winning and being successful where he is now.

Another big story for opening day 2015 will be veteran Torii Hunter leading his new team, the Minnesota Twins, against his old team, the Detroit Tigers.

He said ahead of the game: “I’m fired up to face anybody, whether I face the Angels, which I had a great time, or I face the Tigers, which I had a great time with. I can tell you this: Any team I might play, they know I’m coming to play,” according to TwinCities.com.

Today’s big game between the San Francisco Giants and the Arizona Diamondbacks will start at 10.10 p.m. ET and can be watched on TV on the ESPN 2 network, and also online through free live stream by clicking here.
