Detroit Tigers MLB 2015 Opening Day Roster News: Tigers Will Start the 2015 Season With 24 Men on the Active Roster

The final cuts have been made. The opening day roster has been set and because of a quirk in MLB transaction rules the Tigers will begin the season with just 24 men on the big league roster. There were not a lot of surprises but after learning that starter Justin Verlander and relief pitcher Bruce Rondon would begin the year on the disabled list there was some intrigue as to who would lock down the final spots for the Tigers pitching staff.

Christian Post Report – What are the Detroit Tigers actually worth?

Blain Hardy and Kyle Ryan were in the running for bullpen spots but were optioned to Triple A Toledo Friday Morning. The Tigers also reassigned Josh Wilson to minor league camp to get them down to the 25 man limit.

Of course that is 25 men with Verlander who has yet to be placed on the disabled list. That will likely happen tomorrow and be retroactive to his last start.

Chris Iott of Mlive.com explains why the Tigers cannot carry an additional relief pitcher while JV sits on the DL.

“If the Tigers carry a relief pitcher on the roster to start the season, they would not be able to promote a starting pitcher to pitch in Verlander’s place for 10 days. So the Tigers might want to see how Verlander fares this weekend — he is scheduled to throw a bullpen session — before naming a replacement for him.”

Verlander is scheduled to pitch April 12 and if he remains on schedule for that return the Tigers can simply survive shorthanded till then or once that is more official than can bring up an additional bullpen arm.

There are some rumors of the Tigers looking to trade for an additional reliever but that would seem to be a separate issue for now. The Tigers open the season on Monday with David Price talking the mound for his first Opening Day start with the team.

Recent reports from PlayStation Lifestyle also indicate that updates are now available for the PlayStation 4 and PC that will enable the “Ascendance DLC.”

Some gaming websites have already aggregated detailed gameplay guides for players who wish to get the most number of achievements in the game. One gameplay guide on Gaming Bolt gives a preview about the game’s glitches, which it listed as the following: High Rounds Pile Up glitch, Goliath glitch, Out of Map glitch and the Teleport glitch.

It also lists down the ten types of achievements and traps in the DLC, including what is called “Meat is Murder.” Like any gameplay guide, the Gaming Bolt website provides step by step guides for players who would like to have it easy. Those who enjoy a challenge are advised to skip the guides.

As expected, the “Ascendance” DLC brought with it a new breed of zombies called Exo zombies, featured in a new map called “Infection.” This is one of the four new multiplayer maps that are introduced.

A new and powerful weapon called an OHM directed energy 2-in-1 LMG/shotgun, which has a custom variant called the OHM Werewolf. The IBTimes report specifies how players can gain access to this new weapon. It also provides a video guide on how to get the Easter egg in the Burger Town episode of the DLC, which will provide the player with explosive burgers.

In the meantime, no specific date has been set for the release of the DLC for the PS4 and the PC. Recent news about latest game updates for the Xbox platforms however reportedly indicate that these are needed to enable the new DLC.

According to PlayStation Lifestyle, it is expecting a patch later this month for PS4 and PC for “Ascendance” support. Unfortunately, there is no news about updates and whether the DLC is arriving for the PS3.

Taylor Lautner Reaches Out to Kristen Stewart After Robert Pattinson Gets Engaged

“Twilight” fans all over the world are heartbroken after it was revealed this week that Robert Pattinson is engaged to his girlfriend of six months, Tahliah Barnett, also known as singer FKA Twigs. Those who have been supporting Pattinson’s pairing with “Twilight” co-star and ex-girlfriend Kristen Stewart have now lost all hope of reconciliation between the two as they took to social media to mourn and air their displeasure over the actor’s engagement.

Christian Post Report – “Twilight” cast members Robert Pattinson (R), Kristen Stewart (C) and Taylor Lautner

Meanwhile, Stewart is allegedly upset about the news, and her other “Twilight” co-star and good friend Taylor Lautner has reportedly reached out to comfort her.

“[Taylor] already reached out to her to offer support and to remind her that it’s out of her control and not to beat herself up about the past,” said an insider to Hollywood Life, “He found out about Rob’s engagement just like everyone else, on the Internet, and as soon as he heard about it he reached out to Kristen.”

It was T-Pain, a good friend of FKA Twigs, who spilled the beans about the couple’s engagement during an interview with Vulture. Though the rapper tweeted that it was an April Fools’ joke, People has confirmed that the pair are indeed engaged.

The source added that Stewart and Lautner have always been close and the actress has always relied on him especially during difficult times.

“He’s been there with her throughout all the ups and downs with Rob and totally understands how the news is playing with her head. He’s always been like her rock and vice versa,” the insider said.

Another source tells Hollywood Life that Pattinson decided not to tell his former girlfriend about his engagement.

“That ship has sailed,” said the source. “He doesn’t talk to her—they have two completely different lives. She is not part of his day at all. FKA is his life now.”

The Los Angeles Angels Have Harsh Words for Josh Hamilton After Relapse

The Los Angeles Angels and Josh Hamilton appear headed for a nasty divorce

Christian Post Report – Josh Hamilton has battled a variety of demons in his life. The MLB ruled that he will not be suspended by the Los Angeles Angels, but the decision hasn’t gone over well for some. The Angels are having big time buyer’s remorse over the more than $80 million they are still on the hook for. They are creating an environment where it would be hard to welcome Hamilton back to the team, and maybe that is the point.

“It defies logic that Josh’s reported behavior is not a violation of his drug program,” Angels President John Carpino told The LA Times.

“The Angels have serious concerns about Josh’s conduct, health and behavior,” Angels General Manger Jerry Dipoto said to NBC Hardball Talk. “We are disappointed that he has broken an important commitment, which he made to himself, his family, his teammates, and our fans.”

Some critics have speculated that the Angels had a hand in the original leaking of the Hamilton’s latest relapse. However, a person with a high profile such as Hamilton, who has used his struggle with addiction as part of his narrative, has no reasonable expectation of privacy here. Him being signed to a high-profile contract with a high-profile team simply means parts of his life are not private are not any longer.

It seems more logical for the Angels to welcome Hamilton back with open arms, and be in his corner, or have his back, as they say. That way they could benefit from the remaining years and money on his deal. This situation has gotten pretty ugly and one has to wonder if the Angels will ever welcome Hamilton back home.

How to Listen to God’s Word

Nehemiah 8:1-18

Christian Post Report – How is it that two people can sit in the same pew, hear the same sermon about the same portion of Scripture, and walk away with two different reactions? One is joyful and the other is unaffected. I think the reason is that some people do not know how to listen to the Word of God.

Nehemiah 8 is an amazing scene of God’s people coming together to hear His Word. Remember that they didn’t have individual copies of Scripture to read. For generations, the events of Genesis through Deuteronomy were passed down from parent to child. Moreover, the people had been in captivity for many years. This was the first time most of them heard the Word read. Imagine their excitement as they listened attentively for the Lord to speak to them.

The Israelites were hungry for God’s Word. Are you? Do you listen eagerly and with an expectant mind and heart? The length of a person’s attention span is directly related to the intensity of his hunger for something. If you crave to know more of God, then your mind is going to be fastened on what He’s saying through your pastor or your personal reading. And the reality is that nothing in the world matters as much as what the Lord has to say.

So many things clamor for our focus but few truly deserve it. The Lord is worthy of nothing less than our undivided attention. He has something to say to every person. So whoever listens to God’s Word with an open heart and alert mind will receive from Him.

  • A relative is assisted by Kenya Red Cross staff as she reacts where bodies of the students killed in Thursday’s attack by gunmen are preserved at the Chiromo Mortuary in the capital Nairobi April 5, Christian Post Report – 2015. The son of a Kenyan government official was one of the masked gunmen who killed nearly 150 people at a university last week, the interior ministry said on Sunday, as Kenyan churches hired armed guards to protect their Easter congregations.

Kenyan Christian leaders mourned and offered prayers on Easter Sunday for the 148 people, mostly Christian students, slaughtered last week at Garissa University College. The Kenyan government has meanwhile responded by bombing bases belonging to terror group al-Shabaab, which claimed responsibility for the attack.

“We join the sufferings of the relatives and the victims with the sufferings of Jesus,” said Bishop Joseph Alessandro of Our Lady of Consolation Church. “The victims will rise again with Christ.”

The Associated Press reported that several hundred Christians marked Easter at the Catholic church in Garissa, and many more around the country and across the world remembered the students during the religious holiday.

Both Pope Francis and Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, the leaders of the Roman Catholic Church and the Anglican Communion respectively, mentioned the slaughtered Christians in their Easter messages.

Welby said: “There have been so many martyrs in the last year. On Maundy Thursday, three days ago, around 150 Kenyans were killed because of being Christian. They are witnesses, unwilling, unjustly, wickedly, and they are martyrs in both senses of the word.

“These martyrs too are caught up in the resurrection: their cruel deaths, the brutality of their persecution, their persecution is overcome by Christ himself at their side because they share his suffering, at their side because he rose from the dead,” he added.

Francis, in his third Easter address since becoming pope, prayed for a peaceful resolution to conflicts around the world, but also focused part of his speech on the events in Kenya:

“May constant prayer rise up from all people of goodwill for those who lost their lives – I think in particular of the young people who were killed last Thursday at Garissa University College in Kenya – for all who have been kidnapped, and for those forced to abandon their homes and their dear ones,” Francis said.

People react after meeting their relative (C) who was rescued from the Garissa University attack at Nyayo stadium in Kenya’s capital Nairobi, April 4, Christian Post Report – 2015, following Thursday’s siege by gunmen in their campus in Garissa. Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta said on Saturday that those behind an attack in which al-Shabaab Islamist militants killed 148 people at a university were “deeply embedded” in Kenya, and called on Kenyan Muslims to help prevent radicalization. The stadium is now a crisis center manned by the Red Cross, for families to find out whether their relatives are alive or dead.

BBC News meanwhile reported on Monday that Kenyan fighter jets have bombed al-Shabaab bases in neighboring Somalia.

Army spokesman David Obonyo revealed that the air strike began on Sunday night in the remote Gedo region, and have targeted two camps used by the Islamic extremists to cross into Kenya.

Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta had warned that his administration will “respond in the severest ways possible” to the massacre at the college and will “fight terrorism to the end.”

The country’s “security forces are pursuing the remaining accomplices. We will bring all of them to justice … We are also in active pursuit of the mastermind and have placed a reward for his capture,” he added.

The terror attack on Thursday was carried out by four terrorist, who were all killed by security forces 10 hours after the attack began. The militants reportedly separated Christian students from Muslim ones, before killing the Christians.

Al-Shabaab said that the slaughter was retribution for Kenya sending troops to battle its forces in Somalia, and warned in a statement on Saturday that more attacks may follow.

“No amount of precaution or safety measures will be able to guarantee your safety, thwart another attack or prevent another bloodbath from occurring in your cities,” the group said.

Investigators found on Sunday that one of the slain attackers was the law-school-educated son of a Kenyan government official, identified as Abdirahim Mohammed Abdullahi.

Interior Ministry spokesman Mwenda Njoka revealed that Abdullahi was the son of a government chief in Mandera County, who had reported his son missing in Christian Post Report – 2014 and shared fears he might have gone to Somalia.
