‘Suicide Squad’ Release Date, Cast News: Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Scott Eastwood and Others Join Cast

More supervillains are joining the “Suicide Squad” line-up. Three more actors will join the cast to play three more villains who will appear in the film.

According to The Wrap, “Lost” actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje is joining the cast to play Killer Croc in the upcoming DC movie. Killer Croc is an enemy of Batman and is considered a supervillain. He is known to have a massive physique and a reptilian appearance because of a medical condition called epidermolytic hyperkeratosis, which causes his crocodile-like appearance. Akinnuoye-Agbaje has not confirmed the report, neither has Warner Bros.

Raymond Olubowale, a boxer, was said to have been cast as King Shark, according to a report in Latino Review. He expressed his delight to join the cast. His exact role in the movie is unconfirmed however. King Shark in the comics is a humanoid shark.

Clint Eastwood’s son Scott Eastwood confirmed to Forbes that he is joining the cast as well. One rumor going around is that he will play the role of Steve Trevor, who is said to be the love interest of Wonder Woman in the comics.

Another confirmed casting is Karen Fukuhara. Although there is no official word yet on her role, the Latino Review says that she may play a minor supervillain role, that of Plastique. She is known for her ability to project explosive force outward from her body.

They join the rest of the cast members who were earlier confirmed: Jared Leto as the Joker, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Will Smith as Deadshot, Cara Delevigne as Enchantress, Jay Hernandez as El Diablo, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller and Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg.

The “Suicide Squad” is a fictional group of imprisoned supervillains in DC Comics who were put together by government to become “deniable” government assets and conduct special high risk and covert operations in exchange for pardon.

The film is being directed by David Ayer and will be released on August 5, 2016. It comes just a few months after another DC Comics movie “Batman vs. Superman,” which will be released in March 2016.

Christian Post Report – Gamers who have enjoyed playing the action-adventure stealth video game “Metal Gear Solid” are in for a treat. Sony Pictures is finally gearing up to push through with the live action adaptation of the video game into a feature film.

Deadline reported that Sony Pictures has hired Jay Basu to pen the script for the film. Basu is also currently involved with Universal Pictures to “relaunch its library of classic monster movies.”

The film has long been in what the industry calls “development hell,” with talks of an adaptation going as far back as 2006, when the game’s director Hideo Kojima said that a movie was in the works and will be possibly shot in Alaska.

This new announcement however assures fans that the movie is indeed moving forward. Aside from Basu, “The Kings of Summer” director Jordan Vogt-Roberts is already on board to direct the film, while Avi and Ari Arad are producing with Sony Pictures Michael De Luca.

Released in 1998, the game is about Solid Snake, a soldier whose mission is to enter a nuclear weapons facility being controlled by a renegade special forces unit and neutralize the threat, while saving the two hostages. The game was developed by Konami Computer Entertainment for PlayStation consoles. Several sequels of the game were developed afterwards, not just for the PlayStation but also for other consoles.

In the original game, Solid Snake was voiced by David Hayter, who was also a screenwriter. Hayter was rumored to have been interested in the adaptation project but it did not go beyond initial pitches. Another rumor about a possible actor who can play Solid Snake is that of Christian Bale, who had earlier revealed that he was a fan of the video game, as reported in Cinema Blend. Given this new development, there will soon be an impressive list of Hollywood actors who will indicate their interest.

It is not known whether the film will be shot in Alaska, as earlier declared by Kojima. No other details about the film have been released so far.

It was already more than a year ago since the OnePlus One was announced, and yet the manufacturer only managed a small amount of sales.

Will the OnePlus Two prove to be as reliable and spec-heavy as its predecessor, the OnePlus One?

According to a recent report by Phone Arena, the next generation device that will serve as the successor of the OnePlus One, would be unveiled later this year, around July up to September.

Aptly named OnePlus Two, the device will reportedly boast a more compact screen – probably with QHD or 2K (2560 x 1440) resolution, 3GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 810 chipset that supports 64-bit applications, and either a 16GB or 64GB built-in storage.

Other rumored specs include a fingerprint scanner, a metal build design, and extremely thin side bezels.

In the report, the OnePlus Two could even look similar to the Oppo Find 7, which was also announced last year.

A report last week claimed that the Chinese manufacturer would opt back to its invitation system just like last year, rather than the usual pre-registrations and flash sale equivalent that is used by other Chinese brands like Xiaomi.

In the report, the OnePlus Two could slightly be more expensive than the previous model. With all of the added enhancements, the price range could be $400-450.

The Houston Rockets is having one of its best seasons in recent years. With still several remaining games before the season ends, Houston has already passed the 50-win mark.

Even before the start of the season, no one thought the Rockets would be contenders. Now sitting at number two in the West, Houston had a rough ride during the off-season.

During that period, GM Daryl Morey allowed Chandler Parsons to walk to Dallas, center Omer Asik was traded to the Pelicans, and Jeremy Lin was sent to the Lakers. The GM did all of that just to make Houston an enticing team for Chris Bosh, who was reportedly contemplating of leaving Miami as well.

However, everything did not go according to plan. Bosh chose to stay with the Heat, Carmelo re-signed with the Knicks, and the Rockets had a depleted lineup.

Several months later and the Rockets are already preparing themselves for the playoffs. Unfortunately, injuries have plagued the team throughout the season.

In an interview with ESPN reporters, Morey mentioned the status of starting point guard Patrick Beverley, who could be undergoing a season-ending surgery.

In spite the possible loss of their best defensive backcourt player, the GM is confident that they are capable of bringing home the NBA title.

“We think we can win the title with or without Beverley,” Morey said in the interview. “Obviously it gets more challenging without Beverley; he’s the key to our ability to guard a lot of these very good point guards in the West.”

Morey also recognized that Golden State is probably the highest-favored team to win the crown this year.

Christian Post Report – Years after Mexican pop superstar Selena Quintanilla was fatally shot by the former president of her fan club, Yolanda Saldivar, her fans all over the world still celebrate her legacy and her music. Now, on the 20th anniversary of her death, one celebrity who was inspired by the singer’s career is talking about the impact Selena has made.

Jennifer Lopez, who played the Latina singer in the 1997 biopic “Selena,” recently spoke with Billboard and said that there will be no one else like her.

“It has always bugged me that people would try to think that there’s a next Selena,” said the “I’m Real” singer. “It’s like saying there’s another James Dean or Marilyn Monroe. People like that don’t come along everyday. There is never going to be another Selena. That’s why we’re still talking about her 20 years later.”

Lopez said that taking on the role of Selena, which catapulted her to stardom, inspired her to launch her own music career. Just two years after the movie premiered, Lopez released her first single “If You Had My Love.”

“It had a lot to do with it—all those performances,” she said of her role in the film. “I sang in musicals before, but as part of the cast, never as a solo artist upfront or a recording artist. It made me realize, ‘Don’t neglect parts of yourself and let people put you in a box because you’re an actress … Life is short, and you don’t know what’s going to happen. Go for your dreams and don’t let anyone hold you back.”

Selena began performing as a child, singing in Los Dinos, a band formed by her father that featured her brother on bass and sister on guitar. She went on to win the Best Mexican-American Album Grammy for Live, making her the first Tejano artist to ever win a Grammy, and had several hits in the U.S. like “Dreaming of You”.

Today, fans can celebrate her memory at the Selena Museum in Corpus Christi, Texas. For the 20th anniversary of her death, Selena’s family will be hosting the inaugural Fiesta de la Flor in her hometown of Corpus Christi on April 17 and 18. The festival will feature performances from Los Lobos and other Tejano stars as well as a screening of “Selena.”

A couple of months after they were announced, the devices have rolled out in the company’s home market in Taiwan, as well as in China. Soon, more Android fans in Asian markets would be able to get their hands on the high-end device.

However, even before the Asus Zenfone 2 phones make an impact in the Western market, a company executive said in a press event that their upcoming devices would be equipped with the latest fad in the tech industry – fingerprint scanners.

While fingerprint sensors have been with electronic devices in as early as the 1990s, it was popularized by Apple when it included the technology in its iPhone 5s handset.

Now, the Cupertino manufacturer includes fingerprint-scanning capabilities to all of its latest devices.

As for Asus, the Taiwan-based company may be following Apple’s footsteps in this department. Chief executive Jerry Shen of Asus told the media last week that the Zenfone 3 will have fingerprint scanners.

In the report by GSM Arena, Shen also hinted that the Zenfone 2 devices will get fresher versions later this year, some of which would boast fingerprint scanners as well.

Since Apple began using fingerprint scanners, it has enabled mobile devices to make secure payments online. Fingerprint-detection sensors also increase a phone’s security.

A lot of people were surprised when the Consumer Electronics Show and the Mobile World Congress passed without Sony announcing any flagships. In comparison, the Japanese manufacturer was more aggressive last year, announcing the Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z3 only months apart.

According to a report by GSM Arena, the Android-powered smartphone recently showed up in a benchmarking app, GFXBench.

In the details that followed, the alleged Sony Xperia Z4 will potentially boast a 5.1-inch display, the company’s Triluminous technology and Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution.

The alleged Xperia Z4 continues to follow the HTC One M9’s footsteps with a Snapdragon 810 chipset, 3GB of RAM and a 32GB built-in memory, of which 23GB will be user-accessible.

Other features and specs include an Adreno 430 GPU, a 19MP (probably 20.7MP) back camera that can shoot 1080p clips. The phone runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop out of the box.

While the report did not specify whether the Xperia Z4 would get water and dust resistance, it may just be a given for any Sony flagship.

In the report, the mysterious Sony device has a model number E6553. Based on the Japanese manufacturer’s previous naming schemes, the report claims that this could in fact be the Xperia Z4.

Other brands who have not announced any high-end devices yet include Motorola. LG has already unveiled a high-end smartphone, the G Flex 2, but that was during the first week of January.

Samsung’s latest OS creation is the TouchWiz UX, which made its debut with the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.

TouchWiz UX will provide a number of new features, such as the appearance of dialer and camera shortcuts on the phone’s lockscreen.

The new Samsung UI would also include SmartLock, a feature that will prevent the device from “locking” whenever the smartphone is connected to a “trusted” network.

The brand new Galaxy Apps Store will also be able to offer various themes and designs to choose from.

On the other hand, the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop would fix some bugs and errors, while improving overall performance and security.

For people who have their own Galaxy Note 4 from Samsung, you just wait and see until the latest Lollipop version and TouchWiz UX becomes available.

Christian Post Report – After reports of his non-stop partying and bad-boy behavior, Justin Bieber is turning over a new leaf as he recently said that he is now a better and more mature guy.

Bieber said that he’s changed some things in his life. He’s improving his relationship with his mother, carefully chosen who he spends his time with, and is going back to the drawing board for his next album.

When asked what brought about the changes in his life, the 21-year old said, “I had to see the downs to appreciate the ups, and know what I want. I’m the type of person who has to learn the hard way…But I got to a point where I wasn’t happy. I wasn’t who I wanted to be. Now I’m around some pretty awesome people who are supporting me and have my back.”

Bieber said that the changes also affected his music.

“I’m thinking about more positive things,” he told USA Today. “It completely changes my music. I had to re-do my whole [new] album. It was done but it didn’t match up to where I am now and where my head’s at. I want to tell my story, but I also want to give people hope.”

The singer said that his songs will be about “growing and being in touch with yourself.”

“What can I say, it’s life experiences, and knowing that you can get back up and keep going. Hope and faith, that’s what’s gotten me through this too, my faith,” he said. “I lost hope for a while … I was in a dark place, but it’s about getting out of that rut. It’s about knowing there’s sunshine on the other side.”

Bieber’s last album, Believe, was released in 2012. The singer, who is currently working with Kanye West and Rick Rubin on his new album, said that he’s “finishing up” on the new album, but he’s not rushing it.

“I’ll just wait until it’s totally done,” he said.

Christian Post Report – After a dismal box office performance of “The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones” in 2013, plans of turning “The Mortal Instruments” series into a multi-film franchise has taken a back seat.

In the last quarter of 2014, rights owner Constantin Film announced that they are bringing back the series, this time to television. Early this week, Constantin Film revealed that ABC Family has made a “straight-to-series order” for the “Shadowhunters” which is based on “The Mortal Instruments” novel series of Cassandra Clare, as reported in The Hollywood Reporter.

“The Mortal Instruments” is a series of six young adult novels. The TV series will follow the story of the main character, a young woman named Clary Fray, who finds out that she is no ordinary human but is in fact a “human-angel hybrid who hunts down demons” or what is called a Shadowhunter.

She has to come to terms with her destiny to join the rest of the Shadowhunters and protect the innocent, while dealing with her mother’s disappearance. She is helped along the way by another Shadowhunter Jace and her best friend Simon.

Ed Decter, who is known for his work in “Helix,” “Unforgettable,” “In Plain Sight” and “The Client List” will be the showrunner for “Shadowhunters.” Planning for 13 episodes is on the way and production is set to begin in May in Toronto.

Constantin Film told THR in another report that it made more sense to bring “The Mortal Instruments” to TV.

“There was so much from the book that we had to leave out of the Mortal Instruments film. In the series we’ll be able to go deeper and explore this world in greater detail and depth,” they stated.

THR also reports that ABC Family President Tom Ascheim is positive that the “big, epic saga will resonate with viewers who come to ABC Family for ‘Harry Potter,’ ‘Hunger Games’ and ‘Twilight’ franchises.”
